Secondary exposure correction?

Is there any way to correct spot exposure problems [ie. clipping] like you can correct secondary color with Three-Way Color Corrector?
I have a clip where a white box that reflects too much--it moves, so I need the exposure correction to move as well--like color corrections move with the Secondary Color Correction, but with exposure instead.
I just need to tone-it done some, if possible.
I tried using the Three-Way, but there isn't enough color to grab.
Any advice? And thanks.

You can do secondary correction with the luma corrector.

Can I use my new Panasonic HD TV model TH-42PX80U as a NTSC monitor for secondary color correction using both Final Cut Pro out of a Macbook Pro intel? What cable I can use to conect via HDMI? Will the color acuracy will be similar to that of a NTSC color correction monitor? will my TV do a decent job for NTSC? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
I am not sure I have this HDMI cable to be use in my macbook pro does it comes with it?

Can I use my new Panasonic HD TV model TH-42PX80U as a NTSC monitor for secondary color correction using both Final Cut Pro out of a Macbook Pro intel?
Yes, but I would only trust it if you are going to be making DVDs, and ONLY if you properly set it up. I would not rely on it for broadcast color correction. The reason broadcast monitors exist is to have a standard...HDTVs don't have a standard. Go to best buy and look at all of them....none of them match. BUT, as a nice simple solution for DVD, I'd use it.
But the only way you are going to get a signal to it is with the Matrox MXO. It will do component to the monitor, or you can get a DVI to HDMI adapter...if you do that the MXO software will allow you to set the monitor up to color bars. That option is only available from of the DVI out of the box.
Will the color acuracy will be similar to that of a NTSC color correction monitor?
No...it would be similar to color correcting NTSC on your home television...because that it what it is.
will my TV do a decent job for NTSC?
I doubt it. Taking an SD image and blowing it up huge on this HD TV...scaled up. I wouldn't think so. I wouldn't use it for SD color correction.

You have a DVI port on your MacBook Pro. And they make DVI to HDMI cable adapters I'm sure.

  • Secondary color correction not working in Premiere CC

    Greetings,
I'm unable to build secondary color correction masks in Three Way Color Corrector, RGB Curves etc in the current version of Premiere CC.
In any of these plugins, when I check "show mask" I get the usual white slate filling the frame. But when I use the color picker to make a selection the whole frame stays white. It appears that I'm making selections but it's not building the mask for some reason. When making an extreme color change I can see that the mask is not building as it affects the whole frame.
This started after upgrading to CC. I've recently updated to the most up to date version (yesterday) and am still having the same problem.
    Premiere CC 2014.1 Release
    8.1.0 (81) Build
Macbook Pro Retina, 15" Late 2013
    2Gh Intel Core i7
    8Gb
    Intel Iris Pro 1536Mb
    Yosemite Version 10.10
*note-my Colleague is not having this problem, he's working on the same OS and same CC build but he has an Imac. So I'm guessing this problem is unique to my hardware config.
Anybody else have this problem or know of a fix?

I have the same Problem new MAC OS Premier Pro CC or Premier Pro CS6 both have an issue with the Title Tool. If you open the title tool and try to make color changes or change size of the font it sticks at the default color and default font. SOmetimes the title tool will work and then when I exit it's back to the default first type location, default font and default color. Sometimes it will not even let me exit the Title Tool.
Please help I have Projects I'm working on Deadlines and I pay a monthly Fee for Software that works and it's not working.

  • Multiple Secondary Color Correction Possible?

I'm having a strange problem trying to use the secondary color correction inside the 3 way color corrector. It seems to work ok for the 1st filter, but if I try to use it for a a second or more instance of the filter, it seems to behave strangely or not at all.
I can select a color using the eyedropper, and sometimes it will show up in the color swatch, sometimes not.
If I chose to show the 'mask' of the results, it will usually show the clip as white in the program monitor, so I can't see where I'm masking.
I have a feeling that this might have to do with multiple masks interacting with the secondary color correction, and they somehow counteract each other. It doesn't seem very intuitive about how to fix it though.
I'm also noticing pretty intense banding with the 3 way, I know I can smooth it with the other controls in the color corrector, but I'm also wondering if this might have to do with some secret sequence or screen preview setting that I may have read about before.
    Thanks for any advice.

The mask should change from white to composite image when you select the left-hand eyedropper.  Is this not happening?

  • Secondary Color Correction layer not working in .look file

I needed to edit an image for continuity reasons so I exported a .dpx frame from that section of my premiere pro project and worked on it in speedgrade.  In the workflow I have set for myself, it is best to apply the look in after effects using the "apply color lut" function.  Unfortunately, the secondary color correction layer does not apply, but other layers such as primary will.

    Hi ACD,
After Effects and Photoshop CS6 take .Looks via the LUT engine. That indeed allows for using primaries with low mid high differentiation and should yield really good results.
Secondaries can be expressed in a LUT as well, but I would typically not recommend using them when you want to integrate .Looks with your After Effects workflow. Here's why:
    - a LUT is never as precise as you'd want it to be for something as complex as secondary color grading - a LUT is always based on interpolation (as opposed to applying the effect in SpeedGrade - there it's all native, no interpolation at all)
    - For a good key you would typically use the denoise and the blur function in the secondaries. Both (by nature) don't translate at all into a LUT, so you'd have to give up using these 2 important tools
    - For a lot of work you'd want the LUT to be accompanied by a mask. That's something that also can't be described in a LUT.
Think of the LUT support for .Looks you created in SpeedGrade more as a really helpful tool for matching your comps to an overall look you design, not necessarily as the tool to apply a final grade.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Secondary Color Correction Eyedropper

When I use the eyedropper to build a secondary color correction mask (rgb curves, three-way, etc) I have to click the eyedropper with the + and then go over to my source monitor and click on the portion I want to build the mask for. If I need to select multiple colors to dial in the mask further I have to keep going back over and clicking the little eyedropper + and then back over to the source monitor and back and forth over and over again.
I know there is a better way, or at least a short cut to reselct the eyedropper +
    What am I missing?

Pr secondary CC is not the most intuitive of SCC methods.  Ae has much finer control.
Pr does give you the option of selection by hue, saturation and luma so, depending upon the type of image, selecting which method of mask creation to use can save time/ make more satisfactory SCC.
But no, you probably haven't missed the broad principal.

  • Secondary Color Correction End Softness

Here is a little something that has driven me insane across all versions (sans 8.1 which doesn't work on my machine)...
Lets say you are using secondary color correction to mask out the sky above a mountain range - you know, like every single video tutorial on the subject does - so you get it dialed in as much as you can until you are left with that nasty pixel fakey line along where the heavens meet the earth which screams "hey look everyone this guy is faking the sky color here". But you don't admit defeat yet and you of course go for that trusty almost magical "End Softness" slider. You drag it a bit and see that it indeed does blend/feather/fix your SCC mask up quite nicely except one glaring problem. The End Softness adjustment has also feathered in the very far left/right outside edges of your clip/frame as well - rendering the usefulness of the secondary color correction ... well... completely non-useful.
If it helps to clarify what I mean, the unwanted side effect I am describing also happens when you use Gaussian blur (premiere, photoshop, etc) but is remedied when you simply check the little "Repeat Edge Pixels" box.
Anyone else ever have their secondary color correction attempts utterly deflated by this occurrence?

I would imagine it is something to do with how softness or blurring samples surrounding pixels. When you reach the edge of the frame the edge pixels won't haven't neighbours all the way round for the effect to look at. As you said it is like the gaussian blur. Why there is no 'Repeat Edge Pixels' option, I don't know. I think you are possibly wasting your time asking the why on these forums. As long as you can get to the how, then be happy you achieve the desired outcome you are after

  • Secondary colur correction mask not working! Help!

I am currently working on Premier Pro CS6 editing a music video. I have edited my footage, fixed the tonality and I am now onto color grading it. I took the saturation down to take out the colour and applied RGB curves to add blue into the shadows and then another fast colour corrector to give the video a blue/black depressed feel.
Going through my footage I wanted to take out certain colours that were too vibrant still. So I thought to make a mask. This is where my problem starts. I open up the three way colour corrector and the RGB curves and go down to secondary color correction and go to mask. When I try to take a sample from the dropper Premier doesn’t pick up the colour from where I want but selects it in other areas of the footage but never on the area I want! I have tried this on my mac book pro and the same is happening. When I have tried it on rushes it seems to work. I don’t understand why it doesn’t work when I have colour graded my footage?! I have tried many different discussions but nothing is pointing me forward. If anyone has any idea of why this is happening and how to solve my problem I would be so thankful!

  • Secondary color correction tutorial

Great tutorial by Karl Soulé, check it out.
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/short-and-suite/using-the-3way-coco-as-a-secondary-color-correct or/

    That was a good video.
    I like the stacking ability.
One thing I really liked was that it was created in HD.
I hate watching videos where they show the interface and its small or blurry.  This one was nice and clean.
It also makes you want a RED camera too.

  • Camera exposure correction defective for manual IS...

The photo camera exposure correction is defective for manual ISO setting in the N900 after updating the OS to PR1.2.
Link to the opened Bug (2010-05-28): https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10384
This feature is one of the main tools to use the excelent camera of the N900 to make good pictures. It is very important that this feature is working correctly again.
The bug apprears in the following test situation:
    - ISO-setting to ISO 100, 200 or 400 (not AutoISO).
    - Manual exposure correction to +0,5, +1,0, +1,5, +2,0 (overexpose) and -0,5, -1,0, -1,5, -2,0 (underexpose).
In this cases the picture turns to very dark (almost black) while it should be brighter regaring to the aimed overexposure or only slightly darker regaring to the aimed underexposure.
The bug is independend from other settings (flash, recording presets (portrait, landscape, night,…) or white balance.
The bug does not appear in video mode sinde there is no possibility to change the ISO settings to another value.
There is even a Youtube video showing this bug published by user ahtiven: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da1nd_zgk4U
The summer is nearly over now and I am quite angry that there is no solution since this bug is now known since at least more than 2 months!
We all cannot use this good camera in my N900 to shoot good photos!
Currently automatic exposure is the only way to make photos which is not working well in many exposure cases!
It seems that nothing is going on in this case - there is no feedback and no workaround!
Please at least offer a package in the repositories to set the camera back to the last firmware status where this bug didn't appear! And please respond here to tell what is planned to solve the problem!

Today this bug was closed and marked as "WONTFIX"
The users originally could buy a device which had certain important capabilities in the camera interface's usability. Then Nokia did a mayor mistake in disabling this capabilities in one of the firmware updates (PR 1.2) since they programmed this severe bug which is causing this error in the functionality available before. They missed to fix this in the firmware upgrade to PR 1.3 and now they are obvoisely trying to sweep it under the carpet!
It is definately our right as customers to demand that the camera application remains at least in the functionality it had when we bought the device!
So a bugfix of this bug is mandatory!
In my opinion someone is in charge of repairing this which he has slipped up in PR 1.2. He didn't had the heart to reply yet (neither in the maemo bug website https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10384 nor in this discussion) and he is not doing his job's duty properly and in an professional way. Instead he is leaving the derangement, isn't it?
If the N900 would get a MeeGo upgrade from Nokia side it would be acceptable to solve this bug in MeeGo but since the Meamo is the official firmware dead end from Nokia side it is a scandal leave this bug unfixed !!!
The last thing we can do is to get more
user's feedback to nokia in this case:
    ==============================================
Please all readers support this posting with your comments
so we can get the responsibles to do this little but important
correction in the N900 camera application!

  • (three-way color corrector) secondary color correction masks not working?

Hi I'm using PP 2014 on Yosemite. Anyone notice (three-way color corrector) secondary color correction masks not working?

strange. same stats here but im getting intermittent.... sometimes i can use the mask and the effect is only limited to the masked area. most of the time the masked area is ignored and the effect is applied to the whole image

  • Secondary Color Correction Issue

I'm trying to desaturate some red on an exit sign to make the video broadcast safe. However, after fine tuning the hue, saturation, and luma settings, other parts of the video are still affected that don't need to be. Is there a way as in After Effects where I can just select an area of the video, like a mask, so that only that area is affected by secondary color correction and not have to worry about other areas of the frame? I think I'm overthinking and missing an obvious solution here.

O.K..it might show the deisred effect in a WFMon a single frame... but..
You need to take a close  look at how the Broadcast Safe Effect works on the image. (moving image)
It is a KEY ...and a very clunky ugly one at that.
Look at the image and see what it is doing to it. eg Highlights. - noisy mushy ugly stuff.  My broadcasters QC would reject it immediately  even if I let it past my suite.
There is no control of Chroma Luminace issues ( usually / always  RED).
No way to control "transient spiking".  Its one control does all  in BC Safe Filter. ( Set and forget.)
Steven, every camera has the abilty to produce non legalised video levels. (Super white) Thats  a good thing and is necessary to photography.
Then..I could show you clips that are BC illegal as well as same clips legalised and you would not even know the difference (without a WFM).
Legalisation is a technicality (eg bandwidth) and not an academic issue or an issue that you can even see.
Dont sweat the IRE.  (Levels are your best friend)
Pix direct from my camera. Can you tell which ones are BC  legal or not?

  • Secondary Color Correction in Three-Way Color Corrector keeps crashing

Every single time, without fail, when I check "Show Mask" the click an eyedropper in the Secondary Color Correction section in the Three-Way Color Corrector it makes my program crash. It freezes. I'm using Premiere Pro CS6 on Mavericks on a MacBook Pro. Can anyone help? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Thank you.

One other simple gotcha is to be color correcting but the viewer is not showing the current clip (the one you are working on...)
Thanks for posting back. Good to have closure on questions.

  • Secondary Color Correction not working properly!

    Hi,
when i apply RGB Curves and Three Way Color Correction (or any other color grading effect) and try to use the secondary color correction to limit my changes just to the skin tone for exemple, the effect don't respect the secondary sample and apply the effect to the entire clip. Most of the times i do a color grading and then  work on my skin tones separately, but i'm not able to in PR.
I'm using Premiere Pro CC 2014.1! I had the same problem with PP CC 2014 and the weird thing is that at my work this works normally.
First photo with the selection made, second photo showing the effect not respecting the mask.

It seems to be working here. Try toggling "Show Mask"
