Secondary Interface IP Address not configured

Hello,
I have a custom A4 Linux based instance with multiple NICs.  All of the secondary interfaces are configured using the following lines:
PS C:\> Add-AzureNetworkInterfaceConfig -Name "Eth1" -SubnetName "Subnet-1" -StaticVNetIPAddress "10.1.2.106" -VM $newVM
PS C:\> Add-AzureNetworkInterfaceConfig -Name "Eth2" -SubnetName "Subnet-2" -StaticVNetIPAddress "10.1.3.106" -VM $newVM
The instance comes up with the interfaces, but the IP addresses are not configured on it and one has to physically log in to the machine and then assign the IP addresses to the secondary interfaces, restart networking and then everything works.
Can anyone provide some insight into this?
Thanks.

Hi Ajit,
Please be advised that Secondary Interface IP Address is not automatically configured In VM instances using CentOS 6.5. The IP Addresses for the interfaces will have to be manually configured.
However, if you use CentOS 7, the IP Addresses are configured automaticallly in it.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Malar.

  • The interface type is valid, but the specified interface number is not configured

    Hi
I'm all new to using LabVIEW, which I have to use for a project. I'm trying to make a setup with a Keithley 2000 multimeter and an Agilent U2722A SMU. But I can't figure out how to get these instruments to communicate with LabVIEW. I can see and send commands to the Keithley 2000, but not the Agilent U2722A, with Agilent Connection Expert. But when I use LabVIEW I can't see any of them, and if I use the drivers I've found with "NI Instrument Driver Finder - Configure Search" I pops up with an error message saying
"Error -1073807195 occurred at VISA Open in Keithley 2000.lvlib:Initialize.vi->Keithley 2000 Read Multiple.vi?
    Possible reason(s):
VISA:  (Hex 0xBFFF00A5) The interface type is valid, but the specified interface number is not configured.?"
I've read all the threads I could find about this problem, but none of them helped. I've checked that the NiVi488.dll is checked in MAX under the VISA options. When I open the VISA Interactive Control I see an ASRL1>>ASRL1::INSTR and ASRL10>>ASRL10::INSTR. I don't know why it says ASRL, when I'm using an USB/GPIB interface, but the Keithley 2000 have 10 as the address. (the Agilent U2722A is connected directly by USB)
    Assume I know nothing.
    Thanks

I'm using the GPIB-USB-HS. I also used this on the development PC when I exported the hardware configuration.
This shows up in my MAX config and when I scan instruments, all of them show up. I can query them in MAX no problem.
My installer includes all the .exe's from my project. As I said, I've done this with my previous 2009 installer without any issue. I upgraded my installer since I upgraded my project for version 2013. The error only happens when I run my code.

  • Smf / sometimes does not configure network interfaces in single-user mode?

    From http://groups.yahoo.com/group/solarisx86/message/14785
When booting into single user mode, I often get a message
    on the console
t_optmgmt: System error: Cannot assign requested addressand only the loopback interface is configured (lo0 inet, and lo0 inet6).
The system's dnet0 interface is not plumbed any more. Configuration
for the dnet0 network interface is via a static ip address; hostname
in /etc/hostname.dnet0, and and ip v4 address for that hostname in
/etc/hosts. This was a Solaris 10 x86 system, but the same problem
has also been observed on Solaris 10 sparc, and the hme0
    interface.
svcs -x in single-user mode reports no problems.
Changing to multi-user mode by typing Ctrl-D still does not
    configure the real network interface.
One thing that I've noticed is that smf's log file
    /etc/svc/volatile/network-physical:default.log
is missing, when the nic interface was not configured.
It seems that the problem with unconfigured network interfaces
does not happen when I boot directly into multi-user mode.
Why isn't the physical interface plumbed and configured when
booting into single user mode on S10 b69?

  • Crawl issue - warning: "This URL is part of a host header SharePoint deployment and the search application is not configured to crawl individual host header sites. This will be crawled as a part of ....a start address"

    Hello all,
I have a multi-tenant environment in SharePoint 2010 server. Different tenants are hosted by one web app.
One content source has been created to crawl the all shared environment. (the only URL added in the content source settings = URL of the
     web app)
Crawl everything under the hostname for each start address has been selected when creating this content source.
Now I have created a new tenant hosted by the same web app. For this new tenant I want to have a different crawl schedule. Simple , I just create a new content source and add the host URL of this tenant. With the same settings has the other content source.
After having started a full crawl I get 0 success and 1 warning : “This URL is part of a host header SharePoint deployment and the search application is not configured to crawl
individual host header sites. This will be crawled as a part of the host header Web application if configured as a start address.”
The first content source is well crawling the new tenant freshly created. Could you tell me where I’m wrong?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Baldo

    Baldo,
In the configuration that you described you now have 2 content sources set to crawl the same content. If you have a content source with a start address of http://servername/ then it is going to crawl everything past that address. If you are now changing
the crawl schedule based on the individual site collections, you will need to move your start addresses further down the URL.
    For Example:
    1st Content Source:
http://servername/ as a start address would now become
    http://servername/site1
    http://servername/site2
    2nd Content Source:
    http://servername/site3
Also remember that all crawling must happen on the default zone. If you are trying to crawl a zone that the web application has been extended into, that will not work.

  • [Solved] wlan0 dhcpd error, interface not configured

    Hi,
I am trying to manually configure my wireless card to use dhcp.  I followed the wireless setup wiki page, installed the driver, added the module to rc.conf, and verified that it is working by running 'ifconfig -a' and 'iwlist wlan0 scan'.  So far so good.  My wireless network is WPA protected, so I set up wpa_supplicant according to that wiki page and that seems to be working too.  When I run 'dhcpd wlan0', I get error messages such as "No subnet declaration for wlan0" and "Not configured to listen on any interfaces".
I tried setting up dhcpd.conf according to http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=49114 and http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=49131, but neither worked.  I also tried adding wlan0 to the interfaces array in rc.conf (similarly to eth0--which works), but that didn't help either.
I tried this on an open/unsecured network and got the same result.
I found a Red Hat thread that said /etc/sysconfig/dhcpd needs to list the interfaces for dhcpd (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … es-372977/).  Is there something similar for arch?
thanks in advance for any help,
    Kyle

I played around with it a bit more last night and I got it to work.  For some reason, the subnets 129.168.0.x and 10.0.0.x didn't work and I needed to specify a subnet of 129.168.1.x.  I noticed that eth0 was getting assigned an IP of 192.168.1.100, so I decided to include that in my subnet.  I also restricted the range to 192.168.1.100-200.
    Thanks for the help,
    Kyle

It works, if I use another IP (aka DHCP server) in the same subnet or in another subnet. It works also for the management interface.

    Thanks in advance,
    Regard,

You can use the internal dhcp, but you need to set the primary dhcp as the management ip. So in your dynamic interface, your primary dhcp is configure with the wlc management ip address. Dhcp proxy also needs to be enabled and is enabled by default.

  • Any best practices for secondary interface/IP

    Hello,
I am working for translate firewall from to ASA now.  As I know ASA did not support secondary interface IP.
However, my existing firewall setup is using this method to bind different subnet into single Interface.
Did any best practices to migrate into ASA environment?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
This depends on your current environment which we dont know about.
As ASA firewalls can not have secondary IP addresses on a single interface then the typical options would be to either
Move the gateway of these internal subnets (which need to be under the same interface) to an internal L3 switch or Router. Then configure a link network between that device and the ASA interface and route the subnets through that link subnet.
Configure the subnets to different ASA interface (actual physical interfaces or subinterface if using Trunking) and separate those subnets to different Vlans on your switch network (or if not using Vlans then simply to different switches)
I guess it would also be possible to have 2 separate physical ASA interfaces connected to the same network switch network (Vlan) where the 2 subnet are used and just configure the other gateway on the other interface and the other subnet on the other physical interface. I would assume it could work but I am really hesitant to even write this as this would certainly be something that I would not even consider unless in some really urgent situation where there was no other options (for some reason).

    This is the relevant configuration.
    Primary CSS
    circuit VLAN4
    ip address 192.168.76.4 255.255.255.0
    ip virtual-router 4 priority 101 preempt
    ip redundant-interface 4 192.168.76.254
    Secondary CSS
    circuit VLAN4
    ip address 192.168.76.5 255.255.255.0
    ip virtual-router 4 priority 90
    ip redundant-interface 4 192.168.76.254
The problem is that the Secondary F/W can not ping the redundant interface IP address via the secondary path when all devices are in normal mode.
    Is this normal?
The ping is occuring for firewall failover checking.
    Thanks,
    Ben

    it should work.
Your diagram does not display very well, so I don't know where are the | links.
What should be the path of traffic from secondary firewall redundant-interface ?
Is the traffic going to 1 CSS and being bridge to the 2nd CSS ?
If that's the case, you need the command 'ip uncond-bridging' on both CSS to force CSS to bridge first and then route.

    Gilles.

  • Firefox suddenly can't connect to the Internet (Address Not Found)

OK, so I recently bought a netbook (Asus eeePC) and put Arch on it to dual-boot. I took it with me on a business trip last week, and I was so impressed with Arch I decided to put it on my desktop today (I had used Arch before, but not for a long time). So, as I was chugging along, I pulled up Firefox on my netbook (it's handy to have a secondary computer while installing Linux), and it gave me an "Address Not Found" error when pulling up Google. Firefox had been working just fine (wired or wireless Internet) for all of last week, and I haven't changed anything.
What's extremely strange is that everything else works. I could pull up Google in Lynx, and I was listening to an Internet radio station (Groove Salad) using cmus, and it worked just fine. Figuring it was just a fluke, I kept going and discovered that I had the same problem on the Desktop once I got around to gettting Xorg and Fluxbox working and after I installed Firefox. It's very strange - the computers are quite different (the netbook is running i686, and the desktop is running x86_64). I have a home file/web server running Gentoo, and I'm able to run Firefox on it using ssh/X-Forwarding, and it works just fine. I can also pull up my server on Firefox on both the Laptop and the Desktop (just on the LAN, not the Internet). I also tried installing SeaMonkey on the netbook just to see, and I got the same results - it can't access Google or anything. Both computers are dual-booting Windows XP and Arch, and Firefox works on Windows for both computers.
This might be the strangest error I've ever run into on Linux - I'm not sure what to do next to diagnose the issue. I'll gladly post any information anyone thinks is relevant. Any ideas?

It's definitely a DNS issue. I tried as Statix suggested above and it worked after a little tweaking. I went back and checked my modem, and it listed two DNS servers. I put those in resolv.conf manually and they worked too. My router or modem (192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.254 respectively) should each be able to handle DNS on their own, but for some reason they aren't. I know it works; Windows XP and Gentoo both set their nameservers to 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.254 using DHCP and have no issues. When I tried DHCP on Arch, these were the relevant sections of rc.conf:
    eth0="dhcp"
    INTERFACES=(eth0)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.0.1"
    ROUTES=(!gateway)
I tried using ROUTES=(gateway) as well (no effect). When I did that, DHCP automatically set my resolv.conf to:
    # Generated by dhcpcd
    # /etc/resolv.conf.head can replace this line
    nameserver 192.168.1.254
    nameserver 192.168.0.1
    # /etc/resolv.conf.tail can replace this line
So changing the eth0 line in rc.conf to:
    eth0="eth0 192.168.0.100 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
And putting the nameservers in resolv.conf from the values my modem listed works, but it shouldn't be necessary. I'd rather have it send DNS requests to the router or modem like my other systems work, but at least I have a workaround for the time being. My time is a bit limited, but I'll keep looking into it when I have the chance and post whatever I find. If anyone has any other ideas, I'd appreciate it though. Thanks!

  • Virtual Interface IP address

    Hi,
In all Cisco documentation 1.1.1.1 is always specified as Virtual Interface IP address.
Here is my concern. When wireless client gets an IP address (through DHCP), 1.1.1.1 is entered as DHCP server which means that at 50% lease time client will attempt DHCP Request to 1.1.1.1
1.1.1.1 is not routable on the wired network, but controller makes sure that it is accessible on the wireless network.
The problem is if you have both wired and wireless connected, default gateway through wired connection wil have less cost, so client will attempt to send traffic to 1.1.1.1 using wired interface and will obviously fail.
At 83.5% of lease time client will attempt full DHCP process starting from Discovery and I guess this is when the IP on wireless NIC will be renewed, cause those Discovery messages are to 0.0.0.0....
    Is my understanding correct?
    Thanks!
    David

    Hi,
With both wired and wireless active at the same time (when laptop is docked for example)DHCP Request to 1.1.1.1 will fail cause it will be sent using wired interface and not wireless (default route metric in the host's routing table). This will cause this DHCP Request to fail at 50% lease time.
Next step is DHCP Discover at 83.5% of lease time. Destination IP will be 255.255.255.255 and it will be generated specifically on wireless interface, since this in the interface that needs to renew the IP.
This is exactly my question. Will this Discover to 255.255.255.255 go through wireless interface, cause this is the interface that needs IP addresses renewed. If so, I assume it will succeed and client's IP address will be renewed.
A bit worse than renewing at 50% lease time as a normal DHCP process, but better than loosing the IP at all when 100% lease time hits. 83.5% is somewhere in between...
    Comments?
Can you also advise how do you disable DHCP Relay function on the controller? Do you need to remove DHCP IP addresses in WLAN configs?
Another question is about needing WLAN for Management interface. Is it needed for any reason? WLANs are always documented to be bound to Dynamic Interfaces and not Management, however Management interface does appear in the drop down menu under WLAN configuration. Thoughts?
    Thanks!
    David

I have already performed the ap: set BOOT etc commands a dozen times with the same results.
It says: The system is not configured to boot automatically.
I've been trying to get this one going for 4 months now..it was knocked out during a power outage while upgrading it.

I didn't know how to get to global configuration mode - I did manage to get there with a bit of guess work.
    You use AP: Boot
Let it go through the boot process then at the AP> prompt, [enable] priviledged command set, type in password.
At AP# prompt type [config] then press enter for [terminal] at AP#[config] type NO BOOT MANUAL press [Enter] key and reboot AP.
Question...Do I have to use a WRITE command to write the configuration to CMOS?
I did just play it safe.

  • Cisco Works "Devices not configured in ACS"

    Hi!
I have instaled Cisco Works ver. 4.3.1
I have added using the Device Discovery, my devices. Some of them where not configured already on ACS with the loopback address, that was the one on the discovery configurations. Because of that, i could not manage those devices, althoug i could authenticate on them. I then updated the ACS with the loopback address, and configured the router's to authenticate using the source-interface of the loopback.
The problem is that i keep not being able to manage this devices on the cworks, because the are still as "Devices not configured in ACS".
    Can anyone help me here?
    Regard's
    Miguel Amaral

    Hi,
This happens, when you integrate the ciscoworks with ACS and Router/switches not configured with ACS. Try to reconfigure the device in ACS, try removing and adding it again in common services...Try for a single device and check it out... Try stopping/starting cw services after that // net stop crmdmgtd, net start crmdmgtd. Revert with the results..
