Security provider adding a user- need info
Scenario:
-> Considering a domain as multiple security providers.
-> Create a new user for defaultAuthentication Provider, this user will also be added to other providers as per the weblogic normal behviour.
-> Does this mean the security files like DefaultAuthenticator.dat, DefaultCredentialMapper.dat, exportIndex.dat, XACMLAuthorizer.dat & XACMLRoleMapper.dat would get modified or updated
-> I believe these files are independent to any new user's added to a group->roles-polices should not be modified.
Please let me know if my understanding is incorrect.
/SR
those files which you have mentioned have .ldif extenstion.
And yes your understanding is correct.

PC User Needs Info on Keynote 3
Hi,
I'm a current PC user looking to purchase a MacBook Pro.
I have a list of questions, mostly geared towards Keynote 3.
These may sound stupid, but here they are:
I want to use Keynote as a tool to develop a website introduction
1) Can a page be resized? Are there limitations to the work area in Keynote?
2) Does creating a presentation then exporting it into Flash movie have the same properties as if it were created in Flash itself?
3) Is the weight of a keynote presentation exported into flash or QT the same as if it were created in Flash? (what are the compression capabilities)
Now, I need you guys to be honest on this:
4) What are the limitations of Keynote 3 in regards to Powerpoint?
And again, honesty is key here too:
5) Please indicate all the features (if possible) that give Keynote an edge over Powerpoint.
Those are all the questions I have for now.
Thanks!
LeoGreat advice so I thought I might add my bit regarding music files!
Having tried to transfer MP3 files over to my 5230 (same difference as the 6085 I guess) using the USB cable realised it wasn't going to work so here's what I did and it worked albeit a bit slow.
1/ Copy music files from your user/music library folder - not iTunes folder, to a new folder on the desktop which I called "To Nokia" as single mP3 files not as a folder.
2/ Open Bluetooth on the Mac (top right) and select "Nokia 5230/send file" and after authorising the phone to receive the transfer will begin.
3/ These music files are then deposited into the messages folder on the phone and will then require to be opened and options/save to the music folder.
4/ After these files have been saved each file will have to be deleted from your messages folder or you might exhaust your memory capacity thereby stopping the transfer. This obviously depends on how big your phone memory memory is. I could only transfer about 5 mp3 files at a time before my memory was nil and I had to delete some thing from my messages folder or otherwise.
Transfers will come across ay about 44 kb/s average but will slow down drastically if you are charging your phone at the same time.
My perception is that Nokia don't make this easier because of potentially supporting a rival competitor with the iPhone which in my view will always be a more sophisticated device but costing a great deal more unfortunately.
I hope this helps and that I haven't forgotten anything in the process! Best of luck! -
New user - need info on reading documents
I dusted off my husbands old Tungsten E which I know is kind of old but would be sufficient for my needs, namely use it to read documents on the go. (My husband is not much help as he never did really used it.) So really all I need is information on cheap or free software (and how to put it on the PDA) so I can open either word or pdf files, all I need is to read, no editing necessary. I have an SD card I can use to move the files from my pc, so I don't have to deal with much sinking.
As you can't tell I am not very PDA savy, so the simpler the better. Thank you all in advance for any help.
Post relates to: Tungsten EFirst tell us if the program Docs to Go is already installed if not just follow this guide:
http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=38830
Please note that you will need to load palm desktop first inorder to load this software to your device.

Adding a user to the File Security Realm
Hello,
When I attempt to add a new user to the file realm with Application Server->Security-Realms->file-> Manage Users, I get the error:
A "com.sun.enterprise.tools.guiframework.exception.FrameworkError" was caught. The message from the exception: "Unable to get View for ViewDescriptor 'fileUsers'"
The root cause is "java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0"
See the HTML source for more detailed (stack trace) information.
When I look at the file C:\Sun\AppServer\domains\samples/config/keyfile I see the new user added, but the Admin Console is not happy...
Please advise.
-- POCThere are some issues in admin gui for managing security service in beta.
I have verified that this has been fixed in FCS branch.
Since the user and password has been written to keyfile in your scenario, it may be OK.
You can try to use the user. If this is not working, then restarting the server should work.
Another way is to create user by using asadmin command. This is working fine in beta. -
The Itunes store constantly asks me to Improve Apple ID Security by adding three secret questions but won't accept my valid password. I have tried to reset the password, update the billing info and it still won't let me make any purchases.
I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option? -
The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.

Need info about RH Server 6 and reports
I'm interisted in RH Server 6 but I'm unable to locate much
practical info about it on the Web site, and a call to sales didn't
help. I need to know what I'm getting us into before I contribute
our $2,000. Can anyone provide this information or point me to its
location on the site:
--I have system requirements from the Adobe site, but what is
the "server" and what does installation and setup entail? About how
how long does it take, or how difficult, to achieve operability?
--According to a piece by John Daigle, the server component
should be installed on a Windows server running IIS 5+. Is IIS a
separate software or standart part of Windows server? If separate,
what preparation should that server have before the installation in
addition to installation of IIS?
--I know nothing about security/firewall protocols. We will
have our own and our customer firewalls to navigate. Are the server
setup instructions adequate for setting all that up? Or are
purchasers expected to have sys admins knowledgeable to set that
up? Is that applied to the RH server or the Windows server? if RH
server, how can I get a copy of instructions for my system people
to review?
--Have users found the RH server/RoboEngine reliable, once
it's operable?
--Is it true that the usage reports aren't customizable? Can
additional usage data be specified in the RH server?
--These report summaries are vague--Areas Requiing Help,
Frequently Viewed Content--stating only that repoorts show the
suchandsuch done "most frequently" or "most often." Does that mean
the top 3, 5, 10 or what? Is there a way to track all of that
activity from most to least?
--The summaries of the reports Unanswered Questions and
Frequently Asked Questions say that terms entered in the Search
field are identified. Questions and terms aren't the same in my
book--am I right that it captures anything entered? Can it do the
same for the Index field?
--I saw no RH server under downloads, or maybe missed it.
Correct in guessing that a demo version is not available?
--Is RH server user doc available on the web site? I found
the Getting Started gude, which isn't much use in evaluating the
product.
I have additional questions, but if you can answer these
questions or direct me to answers some of those may be covered.
Thanks,
Mike
Access database.Hey, Mike!
I found a few things for you. I'm in a hurry, so I'll list
them quickly.
For the Trial, go to the Adobe downloads page
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
Then select RoboHelp Server 6 from the dropdown list. You
will be asked to register (free) if you haven't already. When you
arrive at the download page make sure you note the Trial Serial #
To make it easier for you, its:
1336-1033-2628-5062-0993-4570
You can also find a RoboHelp Server 6 Getting Started Guide
here
http://www.adobe.com/support/robohelp/downloads/getting_started_rh6_server.pdf
You were asking about IIS. Yes. As Colum says, this comes
with virtually any version of Windows Server (or Windows XP
Professional). However, you must install and configure it. I am not
an IT or web administrator so it took me a while to learn, but
amazingly I got it to work if you're patient and follow the steps.
(I'm speaking of both IIS and Robohelp Server) Clearly IIS
configuration is not a trivial thing and it is assumed that an
author would have help and cooperation from the IT or Web Admin
folks.
As for customizing reports. At present, the existing reports
are the only ones offered. Since these reports are generated from a
database (Access, SQL Server or Oracle) I would think (haven't done
it myself) that someone familiar with database adminstration could
open the DB (after a backup that is) and be more creative with
generating customized reports.
You are right that the "Question" does in fact mean any
search term or phrase that an end user puts in the search field.
This is the string that is stored and reported as a question. In
discussing this with the Adobe team at STC last month, they agreed
that this was definitely a holdover from the legacy software and is
due for a change sometime in the future.
To answer your other question, text entered in the Index
field is not stored in the database, only the search term field.
Since taking on the old legacy product from eHelp and
Macromedia, Adobe is focusing most of its attention on beefing up
the client authoring app for the next version (Adobe RoboHelp 7).
My assumption is that they are keen on improving the RoboHelp
Server as well. I have passed along many feature requests along the
lines you seem to suggest and hopefully the server will evolve
along with the client app.
Even with its limitations, my clients tell me RoboHelp Server
provides very useful feedback to help them improve their knowledge
base content to make it more helpful and responsive to users needs.
They also like the searchability of PDF, Word, PPT and Excel as
well...something which plain WebHelp without the RoboHelp Server
does not do.
I probably didn't get to everything, but hope this helps.

I deploy web application using admin_client.jar. How can i specify security provider manually in command line during or after deployment? after application being deployed it has security provider as "File-Based Security Provider" and i need identity management provider. Thnk
problem has been solved by adding <jazn provider="LDAP"> to deployment plan and running admin_client.jar with option -deploymentPlan

1 Membership = This contains Users and groups information. (This table also has username and password)
2 ConnectionString = Connetion details to connect to database is stored here(servername, databasename, username, password, port )
3 Role = This table contains all the Roles (Admin, contibutor, etc of the data source) -
Requesting user/session info causing error
The provider application consists of 4 PDK .jar files (pdkjava.jar ptlshare.jar regexp.jar tidy.jar) among other things. It was working fine until User/Session info (per login) was requested. Now the following error is returned when adding a portlet page:
The following error occurred when attempting to call the initSession of the Web Provider: DOCMEIPURLSUN
SOAP-ENV:Server.Exception, , java.lang.NullPointerException at oracle.portal.provider.v2.http.URLProviderInstance.initSession(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.adapter.soapV1.ProviderAdapter.initSession(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Native Method) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.utils.soap.SOAPProcessor.doMethodCall(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.utils.soap.SOAPProcessor.processInternal(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.utils.soap.SOAPProcessor.process(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.adapter.SOAPServlet.doSOAPCall(Unknown Source) at oracle.webdb.provider.v2.adapter.SOAPServlet.service(Unknown Source) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:336) at com.evermind.server.http.ResourceFilterChain.doFilter(ResourceFilterChain.java:59) at oracle.security.jazn.oc4j.JAZNFilter.doFilter(JAZNFilter.java:283) at com.evermind.server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.invoke(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:523) at com.evermind.server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.forwardInternal(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:269) at com.evermind.server.http.HttpRequestHandler.processRequest(HttpRequestHandler.java:735) at com.evermind.server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:151) at com.evermind.util.ThreadPoolThread.run(ThreadPoolThread.java:64)
Did I miss a PDK .jar file? Or did I miss some setup to enable User/Session info?It was our own application. Actually, it was a partner's web application. To integration it with Portal PDK V2, we added the 4 .jar files.
Our real problem is not getting cookies sent from the application through the portal to the browser. That's why we tried different settings on the provider/connection page. First we checked the box 'Web provider in same cookie domain as the portal'. That didn't help. Then we selected the 'Once Per User Session'. Because of the error, we changed it back to 'Never'. Finally, we checked the box 'Require portal user specific session information'. It also didn't help.
How could we solve the cookie problem? -

Thanks,
AshokThis could be any one of a number of things. You need to lookup the Correlation ID in the ULS logs on the SharePoint server. That should provide the additional information necessary to diagnose and solve the problem. Here's a blog post
on how to find the error.

Unable to assign all security roles to a user with a new custom security role
Dear All,
Happy New Year.!
I have a query regarding the assignment of Security Roles to new users in CRM. Normally we assign the security roles to new users via an Admin user who has 'System Administrator' security role assigned to him/her. This works perfectly fine, and we can assign
any desired security role to the new user.
However, in our case, we need to delegate the user creation rights to some of the client partners. We do not want to give them access to all the Administration functions; hence we created a new Security Role, lets say 'Support User Role'. We have provided
'Create', 'Append', 'Append To', and 'Assign' rights on 'User' entity for this new security role. With this security role, we are able to create new users now, but we are only able to assign 'Agent' security role, not any other security roles.
For example, if user 'x' has Security Role defined as 'Support User Role'. If 'x' tries to add a new user 'y', then 'x' is only able to assign 'Agent' security role to 'y', but not any other security role. As per business requirement, 'x' should be able
to assign some other security roles, including 'Support User Role', to new user 'y'.
I believe that there is something missing in Security Role configuration, which is causing the above problem. We compared both 'Support User Role' and 'System Administrator' security roles, but not able to figure out which minimum rights we can provide to
'Support User Role' so that users with this security role can only add new users (with any security role), and that they are not having access on any other Administration features as well.
Appreciate any help that you can provide on the above issue.
Thanks in anticipation.Hi,
Can you check if you have organization level Read access for Securitity Role and Organization level Assign access for Security role.

Permissions in a folder are not applied to new files added by users over shared network
New files added to a shared folder do not inherit the permissions of the folder but rather retain the permissions of the user. Because the purpose of the folder on the network is to allow multiple users access to all the files (read and write), these new files cannot be accessed and editd by others.Is there a way to have the new files automatically inherit the folder permissons? I am aware of the "Apply to enclosed items " drop-down in the Get Info window but this is not practical given the number of new files that are produced and filed.
THanks,
JDIf it's the folder is on the boot drive then the only way to accomplish this is with a combination of groups and ACL's as far as I know. There may be other ways but this is the one I know.
You say the folder is on the network but is on the boot disk, how are you setting this up and are the users accessing this all from Mac's? And they all have accounts on this Mac?
In a nutshell you would setup a group that all the users needing to access the folder belong to and then setup the ACL on the fodder so that all member's of that group will have full permission to whatever is in the folder.
So first in Users&Groups create a group for this and add all the users who need access.
The do to the folder and change its group to the group you created and change its mode to 775 (or 770 if you don't want anyone else having even read access on the folder)
Then enter this
sudo chmod -R +a "GroupNameCreated allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,\
add_subdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directory_inherit" folderToChange
Now the weird thing is if you look at files in the folder they will appear to have the normal Unix mode of 644 but anyone in the group will have read, write and delete permission on the items in the folder.
I suggest you play with this on a test folder and seeing if it meets your needs before changing the working folder.
Also this will not change anything already in the folder it only applies to newly created files/folders

LDAP security provider and web service authentication
Background: we are currently developing web services to our existing weblogic application. Our users can configure user/password authentication in one of three ways: database, LDAP, or SSO. Setting SSO aside, we need to implement the same authentication for database and LDAP that we use in our existing logon servlet in our web services. In our servlet we detect which they are configured for and, if database, authenticate the encrypted password to a database table we have for user id/password. If LDAP we use weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication and the weak() method to authenticate.
We've to use SOAP headers to communicate username/password from the client to the web service. We want to code a SOAP message handler to grab the username/password and do the authentication there. We've successfully put something together that handles the database authentication no problem and are now struggling with how to handle the LDAP authentication. We distribute a LDAP security provider we've coded for LDAP authentication. I guess what I am looking for is an equivalent functionality provided with weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication. Note that I realize the weblogic.servlet.security package has been deprecated starting with Weblogic 9.0 but cannot find what functionality replaces it. Any help there would be appreciated as well.
Note that I am fairly new to web service development (about 10 months now) and definitely new to web service security and Weblogic security. I tried digging into the volumes of documentation out there regarding these two topics but am simply having a difficult time sorting it all out and figuring out how to do what I want to do.
Thanks in advance!
JuliaHi,
Add Provider (LDAP Credentials) in Admin console Security Realm --> defaultrealm -->Providers. Configuring Ldap in Admin Console will enable Admin Server to connect to LDAP. All the LDAP preconfigured Users/Groups will be available in Users and Groups Tab of Security Realms >defaultrealm >Users and Groups. Add Roles using Security Realms >defaultrealm > Roles and Policies > Global Roles > Roles. Add Role Conditions to the role by specifying users/groups configured in LDAP. If your webservice runs with SSL Anotate the Webservice file something like this below.
@RolesAllowed({
@SecurityRole(role="test")
@Policy(
uri="policy:Wssp1.2-2007-Https-UsernameToken-Plain.xml",
attachToWsdl=true)
Here the role is Preconfigired role in AdminConsole. Add the following tag in the soapenv:header.
<soapenv:Header>
<wsse:Security soapenv:mustUnderstand="1" xmlns:wsse="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd">
<wsse:UsernameToken>
<wsse:Username>test</wsse:Username>
<wsse:Password Type="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-username-token-profile-1.0#PasswordText">password</wsse:Password>
</wsse:UsernameToken>
</wsse:Security>
</soapenv:Header>

External Drives Keep Getting Renamed
My LaCie drive has a famously short USB cord, so if I move my laptop, the jack sometimes yanks out, causing everything that was using the drive to halt mid-operation. What's more obnoxious: when I plug the drive back in, the drive's name is unchanged
