Segmentation fault during Intelligent startup

I am using Red Hat 9 and Oracle 9.2.0.4. When I try to startup the Intelligent Agent I am getting the following error. Does anyone have any solution to this?
Thanks,
Mustafa

    Hello. I am trying to do an active duplicate using tns connectivity and just after restoring the controlfile the process fails with the error "Segmentation fault". However if I start the rman using Ezconnect everything goes smoothly. Restarting the databases did not help. What could be the reason? Here is the output with the error:

    Can anyone tell me where to start looking to find out why I'm getting a "Segmentation fault" error while trying to "addIndex" to a container via the dbxml command line? I'm getting this in my messages logs:

    Any thoughts?

    Kevin,
    You'll have to debug this. If you have a debug build you can run the dbxml shell under gdb.

  • Ld segmentation fault generating output file

    I have a fairly large executable that is being compiled on Solaris 8 with gcc 3.2.3 configured with the Solaris 64 bit ld. ld is failing with a segmentation fault during the output file generation phase.
    A stack track of ld at the time of the seg fault look like the following:
    update_osym
    update_outfile
    ld_main
    main
    One of the registers referenced in the affending assembly instruction is suspiciously close
    to 64K.
    The .o's have been compiled with the -g option which generates quite a bit of debug information.
    Has anyone seen this problem and is there any workaround other than not compiling with -g ?

    A few (sort of obvious) things to check:
    1) Are you running the latest linker patch? It seems to be updated fairly often. For solaris 8, the current revision is 109147-26
    2) Are you invoking ld directly, or letting gcc invoke it for you? In general it is much better to let the compiler binary drive ld.

    Hello,
    Since a recent system, virtualbox has started doing segmentation fault on startup. I have no clue what could be wrong.

    I have removed it and emptied the cache
    $ sudo pacman -R virtualbox

    $ sudo rm /var/cache/pacman/virtualbox*
    Anyone has the same issue?

  • Thunderbird: Segmentation Fault on startup

    Hello everyone,
    I've installed Arch (64) on my machine yesterday and having some troube with Thunderbird now: It simply doesn't start and in the console it says:
    /usr/lib/thunderbird-2.0/run-mozilla.sh: Zeile 131: 2559 Speicherzugriffsfehler "$prog" ${1+"$@"}
    („Speicherzugriffsfehler" is German vor „segmentation fault")
    Thunderbird *did* work directly after the installation, but later it quit working.
    After some internet research I guess the fault belongs to GTK. I'm using KDE 4.3 and tried the gtk-trick from the wiki (using switch2). I'm not sure, but I think this is the point where Thunderbird stopped working.
    So this is what I've tried so far:
    * pacman -Rsn qtcurve-gtk2 qtcurve-kde4 gtk-theme-switch2
    * delete all dot-files in ~/
    * reinstall thunderbird
    * check memory with memtest86
    But it still doesn't start. Can anybody help me?

  • Segmentation fault error during data load in parallel with multiple rules

    Hi,
    I'm trying to do sql data load in parallel with multiple rules (4 or 5 rules, maybe), i'm getting a "segmentation fault" error. I tested 3 rules file and it worked fine. we're using Essbase system 9.3.2., with UDB (v8) as the sql data source. ODBC driver is DataDirect 5.2 DB2 Wire Protocol Driver (ARdb222). Please let me know if you have any information on this.
    thx.

    Hi Thad,
    I was wondering, if system is unicode or non unicode that should not matter the amount and currency field . As currencies are defined by SAP and it is in pure English at least a currency code part of 3 Chars.
    Could this because of some incosistency of data ??
    I would like to know for Which currency  had some special characters it it in that particular record ??
    Hope that helps.
    Regards
    Mr Kapadia

  • Conduit crashes with segmentation fault

    I just installed a fresh install of Arch Linux with xfce installed. Everything is up and running. I wanted conduit to synchronize evolution data with my desktop. I was using Xubuntu and everything was fine. But Arch is 2x faster than xubuntu...
    The compilation of conduit went right, reported no error.
    I run XFCE but I tried to run it from gnome also just if it was an dependency error... Didn't work. I tried to install firefox from sources since it was an run-mozilla.sh segmentation error. Didn't work.
    Here's my rc.conf

    I tried to enable webkit instead of gtkmozembed but I can't see how. I really want to use conduit to sync Evolution suite between desktop/laptop
    Any help?
    Desesperate new arch user.

    I've rebuilt conduit with webkit and GIO support by patching the file defs.py.in in the source directory, however the segfault still occurs on my machine. The only difference is that the run-mozilla.sh error is not given but instead a blank line. Perhaps this is related to a specific plugin not working correctly.
    edit: this is also occuring with conduit 0.3.14 release. I may try the SVN version later today.

  • GNU compiled app crashes with signal 11: Segmentation Fault

    Hi Community,
    I know this is not a GNU oriented forum, but maybe this is a common issue.
    We have a C++ multi-threaded application running properly in Solaris 9 Sparc. Due to some issues mostly related to the NICs we needed to have the application running in Solaris 10 x86. The problem is that the compilation is ok (always with GNU) but during run time, we have the application crashing in different instructions because of a signal 11.
    It always crashes in a malloc call within the libstdc++.so.6
    It was compiled with the option -mt and -lthread. Is this a known problem? Do you recommend any direction to start seeking for a solution?
    Pls, find attached the gdb outcomes after the crash.
    Thanks in advance, Pablo

    A crash in malloc in multi-threaded code could be a bug in the system malloc or a failure to use a thread-safe malloc. The default Solaris malloc in /usr/lib/libc.so.* is thread-safe.
    A crash in malloc can also be caused by a heap corruption. Probably the most common causes of heap corruption are
    - writing beyond the bounds of a buffer or variable (off by one, for example)
    - deleting the same object more than once
    - using an invalid pointer:
    --- uninitialized
    --- pointing to a deleted object
    --- pointing to an out-of-scope object
    - failure to guard a critical region
    - failing to declare shared objects as volatile

  • 10.4.8 and IDL 6.0.3 segmentation fault: solutions?

    It seems that there is a problem upgrading to 10.4.8 for IDL users on Intel Macs. On startup, IDL now gives the message: "segmentation fault" and gives up. A quick search brought up this:
    MacOS 10.4.8 Causes IDL segmentation fault
    Anyone out there encounter this and have a solution other than: "Therefore IDL users of versions prior to 6.3 probably should not upgrade their Intel Macs to 10.4.8."??
    I've contacted IDL to see if they have a solution, but I suspect that will be "buy a new license for 6.3"... not what I really want to do.
    Any ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    ps- I tried repair permissions, reboot, etc... just in case it was a buggy thing.

    Update 2: Apparently IDL 6.3 is the only version supported for Intel Mac, and as the student version is always a back-version, there is currently no student IDL available which will work with 10.4.8. So, for those out there using IDL on an intel Mac who don't want to upgrade with a full new license, don't update to 10.4.8!
    My supervisor is being kind enough to buy a full license version of 6.3 for me... so my problem has been solved... though not very elegantly.

    I am working on porting an application that runs on sun solaris sparc (OS ver 5.8) with Berkeley DB ver 4.2.50 into suse linux [ Linux version 2.6.5-7.244-smp (gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux)) ]. I have compiled the application in linux and i am getting segmentation fault error while running the application. The error occurs while the objects are loaded from the database into berkeley cache. The application fails in db->put function while loading the objects. This segmentation fault error is not consistently occuring every time on the same object. Sometimes it throws the error while loading the first object itself or sometimes it throws after loading couple of objects. But the stack trace shows the same function whenever it crashes.
    Given below is the stack trace of the application when it throws SIGSEGV.

    I have tried using the BDB versions 4.5.20/4.6.18/4.6.19 with the application and it throws segmentation fault error with all versions of BDB. Following are the cache related configurable parameters that we use in our application.

    max locks = 3000000
    dirty read = N

    RefServer.cpp:296Did you build the libraries stripped or otherwise remove debugging information?
    run "file /opt/home/pesprm/local/db-4.6.19/db-4.6.19/build_unix/.libs/libdb-4.6.so"
    Also, if I'm not mistaken this is Linux you're porting to, right? Might want to drop the "/opt" Solaris-ism as you continue to port more to Linux.
    The code that calls the db->put() function is given
    below:
         if (pTable->getDataOffset() == -1)Does this return an unsigned or signed value?
    pTable->setDataOffset(
    t( (int)(pObj->getDataBufferStartPos() -
    pObj->getDataStartPos()) );You cast to int here, what's the background reasoning for it?
         DB* pdb = pTable->getDB();
         int rc = 0;You don't check pdb is valid.
    Synchronize
    e sync(pPrimaryKey->getKeyBufferCriticalSection());
    pPrimaryKey->getKeyValues(pObj,
    , pPrimaryKey->getKeyBuffer());
         DBT key, data;
         memset(&key, 0, sizeof(DBT));
         key.flags = DB_DBT_USERMEM;
    key.data =
    = (void*)pPrimaryKey->getKeyBuffer().getBuffer();Do you verify this is even valid? Have you also checked the code within a debugger and verified the logic is correct?
    key.ulen = key.size =
    = pPrimaryKey->getKeyBuffer().getBufferLength();Same thing.
         memset(&data, 0, sizeof(DBT));
         data.flags = DB_DBT_USERMEM;
         if (pTable->isPrimaryDb())
              data.data = (void*)pObj->getDataBufferStartPos();
              data.ulen = data.size = pObj->getDataBufferSize();How do we know these are even valid? You're coming from the perspective that your code makes no mistakes when I have a hunch it does.
    rc = pdb->put(pdb, (DB_TXN*)transactionId, &key,
    y, &data, DB_NOOVERWRITE);Right, and this will most definitely result in a segmentation violation if you don't pass it valid data.
    You're on Linux, I highly suggest you download and build Valgrind, run your application w/ valgrind --tool=memcheck, and get back to us. Also, don't strip debugging information from the berkeley db libraries during this phase of troubleshooting - especially when you're still porting something over.
    I have tried using the BDB versions
    4.5.20/4.6.18/4.6.19 with the application and it
    throws segmentation fault error with all versions of
    BDB.Because the issue isn't within BDB.
    We are using the Sybase Adaptive DB server running in
    Solaris/Linux servers. The same application that
    runs in Solaris connecting to Sybase DB (in solaris)
    is working perfectly fine.More correctly, it was working perfectly fine under Solaris. That doesn't even mean that it's not taking part in undefined behavior - it just means it "worked."
