Select column in Flash datagrid?

When someone is using a datagrid, is there a default way (not involving extra coding) to select just one entire column?
Currently when I click the header, it changes the order. Is there a Ctrl key + click combo that does this?

You know how Ctrl-A selects the WHOLE grid? I was wondering if there's something like that that selects all the rows in just one column. So for example, when editing a grid, you could select and delete all the data from one column.

Hello all,
Next problem in my non-stop nightmare using a flash datagrid to build an application
I have a datagrid in my movieclip.
Under Windows, if I select a row of the datagrid in read-only mode, let's say row 10 on screen, if I then switch the Windows active window (that means the datagrid looses the focus) and come back to my datagrid, the selected row is kept. OK !
BUT, if I select a row in edit mode, let's says row 10, if I change the focused Windows window and then come back to my DataGrid, the selected row is now the first visible row on page ! If I then click outside my Flash application and then back into my Flash application, I get a crash: error #1009:Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
The error message is very short. It seems to focus manager tries to access a TextField property but, which one ? No details, no function name in the error message.
So:
- how to avoid this "change active row when loosing / getting focus" in edit mode of datagrid ?
- how to have more details in the error ? Are there "details levels" in Flash error management ?

Using dynamic column name in datagrid selectedItems

I have a datagrid loaded with 2 columns. Allowmultiselect is turned on.
Based on the values selected at run time, I get the corresponding selected column name and its values and shown it on HTML screen.
// grp is datagrid

// selflds is an array which has 0,1,2,3 values

I am trying to achieve the above selection instead by .selectedItems somthing like this below. By doing like this, I will get all the selected items but not only one. If i try below syntax, i get error. Any one has ideas on how to do.

I got my mistake, there should be no dot operator after selectedItems;
I got a solution - it goes like this:
for(var g:int=0;g<grp.selectedItems.length;g++)
srhVals = srhVals + String(grp.selectedItems[g][selflds[1]]);
So the complete scenario is like this:
Datagrid:
Name Age
a 20
b 30
c 40
d 50
I am selecting b,d in UI. At run time, I get programatically the selecteditem column name as "Name", loop through the selecteditems and store the value in srhVals as b,d.
b,d will be finally shown in UI.

Delete column in a datagrid

Hi All,
I was trying to delete a column in the data grid .
Explanation : The data grid has 16 columns filled with data
, when a specific column is selected and the "delete button(this
button is under the datagrid) is clicked I should be able to delete
the column , and the subsequent columns should move to the left
(for example : if I select column 7 and click delete button ,
column 7 should be deleted and column 8 should move left in place
of the column 7).
Can anybody please help me on this issue.

I think you'd have to loop through the array collection and
remove that
property off all the objects, assuming it's a dynamic object.

File browsing and showing selected files in a datagrid? i'm missing something small... i hope

I am currently allowing the user to browse and select multiple files. I'd like to display the selected files in a datagrid. Here's my code. What am I missing?

Arrays do not send out change events so the DG doesn’t know you pushed things onto it. If you used the DG’s dataProvider it will have wrapped the array in an ArrayCollection and will notice the changes. There is a FileSystemDataGrid component by the way.

Report Does Not Follow Select Column Order

I always encounter this problem, the display column on report does not follow the select column sequence order in the "region source".
It is very tedious clicking the up/down arrow one-by-one in the "report attributes" especially if the display columns are plenty like 40 columns.
Is there a fix/patch or alternative tips for this bug?

This is not a bug. APEX maintains the original column order of the report. This avoids problems downstream in areas like the processing of <tt>g_fnn</tt> arrays in declarative tabular forms, where the assigned arrays are column-order dependent.
APEX 4.x fixes column ordering bugs that could lead to report corruption, and includes drag-and-drop column ordering in the new tree view in addition to the up/down arrow re-ordering.
If you really want column order to follow that in the source query, the workaround is to create a new report using the modified query.

Interactive Report - Include Non-selected Column in Row Text Search

We have an interactive report that contains many columns. NAME VARCHAR2(30), TYPE VARCHAR2(30) etc and DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2(4000).
Normally the DECRIPTION column would not be shown (avalilable for dispaly via 'Select Columns' but not selected), however we need the default Row Text Search (ie direct entry into the search field instead of creating a column filter) to search the DESCRIPTION field wether it is selected for display or not.
This will allow the user to enter a term that may be contained in the DESCRIPTION to find records without trying to display a 4000 character field in the report - which just looks horrible.
We are using ApEx 4.1.1.

rf_full_item_list_vwhich works well. The only issue is that when you download to csv you get the html tags etc as well. Put I am a lot closer to a solution than we were.

Let your table control name in Screen painter be TC1.
READ TABLE TC1-COLS INTO WA_COLS (some wok area)
             WITH KEY SELECTED = 'X'.
        IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
          CLEAR: W_DUMMY, W_COL_NAME.
          SPLIT WA_COLS-SCREEN-NAME AT '-' INTO W_DUMMY
                                               W_COL_NAME.
        endif.
W_COL_NAME gives you the column name.

I have create a view
but other than Select * , i cant now select one just one column from it
the view as follow:

The issue is that you have decided to use quoted column names. A pretty horrible idea (mostly for the reasons that you are now finding).
Re-create the view and get rid of the silly double quotes.

That's not possible, you could use QUERY to specify where clause but not columns in select clause,
for example,
QUERY=employees:'"WHERE department_id > 10 AND salary > 10000"'
you could use
create table2export as select c1,c2,c3,c4 from tableof10columns;and export the temp table.

Changes to selected columns to display in Details tab in Task Manager are not saved during a reboot

I use Task Manager on Server 2008 R2 to monitor performance. I have added several columns to the Processes tab using View..Select Columns. I have added CPU time, I/O read/write/other bytes, etc.
The equivalent in Server 2012 is the Details tab. I figured out how to add these same columns - right click on the column headers, and choose "Select columns". This is not obvious by the way.
However these selections are not persistent across a reboot. So every time I reboot, I need to add the columns back to the display. That is not the case with Server 2008 R2 - they are persistent.
I am using a domain administrator userid, but not using roaming profiles.
This is a retrogression vs. Server 2008 R2. Can it be fixed?

I meant that both the added columns of Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Serve r2012 RC are persistent.
You may install a new Windows Serve r2012 RC to check the symptom.
Currently, you may perform a System File Checker (SFC /Scannow) to check the result.

I have WD ALV report with EXPORT button (since standard button was not working properly i just hide that and added custom one) & standard dropdown to choose layout. Out of 20 columns user may choose n number of columns, the same number of columns i need to transfer to xls. How to export only selected columns to xls.
