Select data in an other database

Hello
My program is in a system, and i want to select data from EKKO table in an other database system like that :
  select SINGLE ebeln
  g_ebeln
  FROM ekko
from system SAP DH4_020 *****
  WHERE ebeln = gs_poheaderc-po_number.
How can I do?
thank you in advance.
Peggy.

Hello,
For this u have to create a RFC Enabled Func. Module.
Try like this
  CALL FUNCTION <b>'Z08V_RA_D_P38ORD_FM'</b> DESTINATION 'D38_011'
    EXPORTING
      I_VBELN = P_VBELN
    TABLES
      IT_VBAK = G_T_HEADER
    EXCEPTIONS
      TEST1   = 1
      OTHERS  = 2.
  IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE 'E' NUMBER SY-MSGNO
         WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
  ENDIF
The FM which is mentioned here should be created in the destination sytem. ie) the system from where u are getting the DATA from EKKO.
If useful reward.

  • Extracting date from oracle/other databases exactly to java

    Hello Friends,
    Iam creating a simple program which extracts data from any database and stores it in an XML file and also it can extract data from an XML file and updates the database.
    My program is just getting the tablename as an input and from that it builds the query (select * from tablename). Through ResultSet, Iam extracting date fields with getDate() method of ResultSet, which is yeilding converted dates [In oracle if date is 23-DEC-1980, Im getting it as 1980-12-23 in java]. Even getString() method of ResultSet doesn't work.
    I want my program to work with any database engine, which may have their own date formats. Kindly can anyone suggest me a way to extract date from any database exactly as it is to java.
    NOTE:: I can't use to_char(datefield) type commands in SQLQUERY as the only input to my program is tablename and my query is, select * from tablename.
    Regards,
    Ch.Praveen.

    HI Friends,
    Thanks for your fast replies. My program is extracting data from a database and generating an XML file for it, which is as follows.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <table tableName="EMP">
    <row>
    <column columnName="EMPNO" columnType="NUMBER">7369</column>
    <column columnName="ENAME" columnType="VARCHAR2">'SMITH'</column>
    <column columnName="JOB" columnType="VARCHAR2">'CLERK'</column>
    <column columnName="MGR" columnType="NUMBER">7902</column>
    <column columnName="HIREDATE" columnType="DATE">'1980-12-17'</column>
    <column columnName="SAL" columnType="NUMBER">800</column>
    <column columnName="COMM" columnType="NUMBER" />
    <column columnName="DEPTNO" columnType="NUMBER">20</column>
    </row>
    <row>
    <column columnName="EMPNO" columnType="NUMBER">7499</column>
    <column columnName="ENAME" columnType="VARCHAR2">'ALLEN'</column>
    <column columnName="JOB" columnType="VARCHAR2">'SALESMAN'</column>
    <column columnName="MGR" columnType="NUMBER">7698</column>
    <column columnName="HIREDATE" columnType="DATE">'1981-02-20'</column>
    <column columnName="SAL" columnType="NUMBER">1600</column>
    <column columnName="COMM" columnType="NUMBER">300</column>
    <column columnName="DEPTNO" columnType="NUMBER">30</column>
    </row>
    </table>
    Here you can observe that HIREDATE column is having date in different format than in oracle. We are getting an error while we are extracting data from an XML file and updating the database, as dateformats differ. Can anyone provide a solution, which extracts date from database to java exactly as per the dateformat in database.

  • Download data Other databases to Oracle

    Hi,
    Currrently I am following a process through MS Access to A) download the data from other databases, B) truncate Oracle tables to delete all the data and C) to upload the data to Oracle Tabes...
    Can you please advice if there is a way I can download the data directly from other databases to Oracle... I am looking for details as I am new bee with Oracle...
    Thanks

    I am just curious about your word "database".
    Is this in Oracle terms, MS terms, MYSQL terms?
    Please clarify.
    Can you please advice if there is a way I can download the data directly from other databases to Oracle...Yes, depending upon exactly which flavor of other databases may be.
    I am looking for details as I am new bee with Oracle..Details are database specific, but since we don't anything about other databases, I won't guess at which details you may require.

    However this doesn't affect the XML encoding in data retrieved from XMLType using PL/SQL or programs (but it does work OK for SQLPlus SELECT).When performing an explicit serialization, with getClobVal method or XMLSerialize function, the database character set is used :

    Hi John,
    When we say that Reports 6i can be used with other databases, we
    mean that you can access data in the other databases. As you
    rightly point out, though, WebDB must be installed into an Oracle
    database. So, if you want to run reports through WebDB, you could
    install an Oracle database just for WebDB (i.e., don't store any
    of your data in it). The reports you are running could get the
    data from the non-Oracle databases. Probably worth noting here
    that WebDB 2.2 can be installed into earlier versions of Oracle,
    like 8.0.5 and 7.3.4. WebDB 2.2 does not require 8i.
    If, however, you don't want to install an Oracle database just
    for WebDB, you could run the reports without WebDB. It is
    possible to send reports directly to our Reports Server without
    going through WebDB. The Publsihing Reports manual explains how
    to do this.

    I am using "Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0" on HP-UX server

    The oracle documentation says I need the following in order to do this.
    1. XML-SQL Utility

    It's a classpath problem. Either you mistyped the class name, or you don't have the class in your classpath. I think Oracle's drivers come in db12.zip or db12.jar or some such. Whatever that jar or zip file is, it has to be in your classpath, but it's not.
    Or it is in your classpath, but you're in an appserver context where the classloader that the container provides for your app uses something other than the classpath variable. For instance, in tomcat, the jar file would be uder webapps/yourApplication/WEB-INF/lib I think.

  • Select data from database tables with high performance

    hi all,
    how to select data from different database tables with high performance.
    im using for all entries instead of inner joins, even though burden on data base tables is going very high ( 90 % in se30)
    hw to increase the performance.
    kindly, reply.
    thnks

    Also Check you are not using open sql much like distict order by group by , use abap techniques on internal table to acive the same.
    also Dont use select endselect.
    if possible use up to n rows claus....
    taht will limit the data base hits.
    also dont run select in siode any loops.
    i guess these are some of the trics oyu can use to avoid frequent DATA BASE HITS AND ABVOID THE DATA BASE LAOD.

  • Select data from another database

    Hi,
    Is it possible to retrieve data from a table from another database?

    Another question:
    I have two tablespaces TP1 and TP2 in the database db1
    The TP1 is my default tablespace.
    Can I switch from TP1 to TP2 tablespace in the sqlplus?
    If not, how can I select all tables obtained in the TP2? Or how can I select data from a table in the TP2?

  • SELECT data from two databases

    I have two databases that I need to select data from in a
    single SELECT. Using DWs Advanced window for creating the select I
    don't see any way to select more than 1 Connection. Both databases
    have unique user and passwords but reside on the same server. Any
    idea how I can write a single SELECT to get data from both dbs. I
    assumed it would be similar to selecting data from multiple tables
    within the same db but the connection part is stumping me. Any
    ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    That's the basic technique for joining two tables in the same
    database.
    The original poster has tables in different databases that
    have
    different user accounts and passwords.
    Although it's possible to join two databases, you cannot do
    it unless
    you have one user account with the same privileges on both
    databases.

  • Select data from different database

    hi,
    may I know how to select data from different database?
    for example,
    I've 2 databases, OracleDB and OracleAR
    Connect with OracleAR in SQL*Plus
    select * from OracleDB.TableName
    does Oracle support this kind of query?
    how can I retrieve data from other database while im connecting with
    other database?

    Hi,
    Yes, it's possible. No, your syntax won't work.
    First of all you have to define a DATABASE LINK inside the DB where you are already connected (in this case OracleAR). Read docs how to do that.
    Second thing is the query. It will look like
    SELECT * from TableName@<NameOfDatabaseLink>Greetings,
    Guido

  • How to view data in tables by selecting the synonym from the database objec

    I could not figure out how to view data in tables by selecting the synonym from the database objects navigation tree. I had to first choose the synonym, view the details of the synonym to determine the table name, and then select the table from the database objects tree. Is this the only way available?

    This functionality currently does not exist. I don't see it on the 1.1 statement of direction either, so perhaps someone from Oracle can give some insight as to when this could be expected.

  • Can a procedure select data from tables on other schemas?

    Can a procedure select data from tables on other schemas?
    If it is posible, which syntax should I use to identify the tables and schemas on the SELECT query?

    Yes , it is possible..unless the current user has the right privileges on others' db objects schema.
    Now , as regards the syntax....
    1) The more descriptive way is to use the format ... <owner_schema>.<obj_name>.
    2) If you have declared public synonyms of other schema's objects then you can refer to them as just <obj.name>.... but the <owner_schema>.<obj_name> is not wrong.
    3) If the db objects reside on another database you must have declared a db link.... then the syntax is <owner_schema>.<obj_name>@<db_link_name>.
