Select extractValue returns nothing - HELP!

My xml document in my XMLType table looks like this:

However, I keep getting an emtpy result. What am I doing wrong?

One other question. I've searched the forum on XMLTable and can't find what I'm looking for. Using my xml file below, how can I use XMLTable to get the data and column names into a relation table or view? I've tried the following but get no rows returned:

I did like this.
1. I enhanced BP using EEW.

You could resolve your issue by changing the value of the "ls_map-context_attr" to the attribute value seen on the F2 help on WebUI screen.
If you change the value   ls_map-context_attr to   'ZZBUT000000102' , then F4 help would work properly.
Hence the correct code would be:

UNDERSTANDING
As my Xpath points only until the node - ParentPicklistValue and not the child nodes under it. Hence when i try to query the child nodes - /ParentPicklistValue/ListOfPicklistValue/PicklistValue/Code, I recieve the above mentioned error.

Hi,
First you need to give values for that profile option (resp. System Administrator > Profile > System).
Also, when using fnd_profile.value, you need to specify the internal profile option name, and not the user profile option name (maybe they are identical in your case?).
And also, typically you need to specify your context before calling fnd_profile. You can use fnd_global.apps_initialize for that.

Here's the fix for that old problem. Change the work method to do the following
- don't register interest in things that can't happen
- when you connect register based on whether the connection is complete or pending.
- add the OP_READ interest once the connection is complete.
This doesn't fix all the other problems this code will have,
eg.
- what happens if a write is incomplete?
- why does my code loop if I add OP_WRITE interest?
- why does my interestOps or register method block?

Returned values DateVal1, Date2 are strings and not of date datatype. Registered schema for the above element and attribute is of date datatype. How can I retain datatype in my select statement?

Tabs are no longer loading, I have disabled addon's, killed the plugin-container, nothing helps

Worked fine earlier this week. Now, the saved tabs (from session manager) just do not load. A few do but only 2-3 out of 16. I've disabled most addon's, stopped the plugin container, performed all MS updates for XP, downloaded 3.6.10 of Firefox, nothing helps. I give up.

I solved the code problem myself after a careful run through of the code, the "else" in my subclass made it so that every button other than the Add button deleted a selected entry, i quickly fixed it and made it an if statement.

My question bout optimizing still remains though:In the beginning of my code i have it loading the entire library with the *, and i noticed after turning it into a .jar that it loads slower than i expected... would a way to speed it up be to specify exactly what i need loaded after the program is finished or would it make no diffrence?

I'm getting the following error:
ERROR:
ORA-19025: EXTRACTVALUE returns value of only one node
when I try and select the content of a row after I have performed an deleteXML command on a node from with in the xml content.
This process can reproduced the error.
CREATE TABLE test OF XMLType xmltype STORE as BINARY XML;
INSERT INTO test VALUES (XmlType('<product_details id="1"><product id="21"><name>test1</name><code>123</code></product><product id="20"><name>test2</name><code>456</code></product></product_details>'));Select the xml content...

Having done some more research around this problem, it would seem that deleting the last node first ie the node with the product id of 20 does not cause the error!
eg running the following deleteXML works as I would expect:
UPDATE test SET OBJECT_VALUE = deleteXML(OBJECT_VALUE, '/product_details[@id=1]/product[@id=20]') WHERE XMLEXISTS('/product_details[@id=1]' PASSING OBJECT_VALUE);
1 row updated.then running...

I tried it myself and found something very strange. It seems when using xmltype with binary storage, that oracle isnt able to read xmldata, the same way that it reads using clob storage.
Here is what I get if I use clob storage:
CREATE TABLE test_clob OF XMLType xmltype STORE as CLOB;
INSERT INTO test_clob VALUES (XmlType('<product_details id="1"><product id="21"><name>test1</name><code>123</code></product><product id="20"><name>test2</name><code>456</code></product></product_details>'));
UPDATE test_clob SET OBJECT_VALUE = deleteXML(OBJECT_VALUE, '/product_details[@id=1]/product[@id=21]')
WHERE XMLEXISTS('/product_details[@id=1]' PASSING OBJECT_VALUE);
SELECT extract(OBJECT_VALUE, '/product_details[@id=1]') "Xml"
FROM test_clob WHERE XMLEXISTS('/product_details[@id=1]' PASSING OBJECT_VALUE);
-- works fine and prints out:
<product_details id="1"><product id="20"><name>test2</name><code>456</code></product></product_details>
SELECT t.*, x.*
,extract(value(x), '/product_details/@id') id
FROM test_clob t, table (xmlsequence(extract(t.object_value,'/product_details'))) xThe last select statement prints out the "id" as "1" which we expected.
But if I use the same select statement in your example on a table test like this:
SELECT t.*, x.column_value
,extract(value(x), '/product_details/@id') id
FROM test t, table (xmlsequence(extract(t.object_value,'/product_details'))) xit prints out:
120
<name>test2</name>
<code>456</code>It seem it printed out the "id" from product_details, plus "id" from "product" plus all the data of the element product.

Select wich returns the shortest time

Hi,
I don't know how to do a select. I'm goig to explain what I want to get to see wheter somebody can help.
I've a select that returns the following columns (table t):
handle_id, logon_id, object_name
I've another table with the following columns (table t0):
time0, handle_id, logon_id, object_name, source, eventid
If I do this select:
select t0.time0, t0.source, t0.eventid
from t, t0
where t.handle_id = t0.handle_id and t.logon_id = t0.logon_id and t.object_name = t0.object_name
It returns me several records with the same condition (handle_id, logon_id, object_name) because, obviously, I've repeated recors with the same conditions but with diferent time0.
I would like to get only one record for each condtion with the shortest time0.
How can I do it?
I've tried with distinct but it isn't what I want.

Putting variable in regexp_substr pattern returns nothing

I'm trying to create a function to simply extract positioned text from a string, ie I want the text in position two from string X with a pattern of ' - '. I want to create a function so it is simpler for the developers but regexp_substr doesn't seem to like it.
So I want a function like below to be executed, select text_extractor('ABC - DEF - HIJ',' - ',2) from dual; which would return DEF;
But regexp_substr doesn't like matching on ' - '. If I tell it to give me position 2, I get '-', and if I tell it position 3, I get DEF. It seems to work fine if the '-' is substritued with a ':'
ie
select regexp_substr('ABC - DEF - HIJ','[^ - ]+',1,2) from dual;
results
select regexp_substr('ABC - DEF - HIJ','[^ - ]+',1,3) from dual;
results
DEF
select regexp_substr('ABC : DEF : HIJ','[^ : ]+',1,2) from dual;
results
DEF
I would further like to make a function to wrap it in but it didn't work at all.
The following examples return nothing.

When you do this:
select regexp_substr('ABC - DEF - HIJ','[^ - ]+',1,2) from dual;
results
-Your search string is a set of characters, so you are saying anything that is NOT a space or dash (or space again, but that's redundant). So the first match is ABC, the second match is "-" as that's the second non-space match, so that's why you get that. Probably what you want is to ignore the spaces and use the "-" as your delimiter, then just trim the spaces off after...
SQL> ed
Wrote file afiedt.buf
1* select trim(regexp_substr('ABC - DEF - HIJ','[^-]+',1,2)) from dual
SQL> /
TRI

SQL LIKE Operator return nothing

I am working on an intranet application and use Access as the
database.
There is a query that I have
<CFQUERY DATASOURCE="#DSN#" NAME="GET_SEARCH_RESULT">
SELECT * FROM WL_TREES
WHERE TREENAME LIKE '3*'
</CFQUERY>
It returns nothing in ColdFusion, if I copy just the SQL and
run it in Access, it returns with the expected result.
Any idea why ColdFusion query didn't work?

CRM search, request return nothing

Hi,
When I try to make research in our b2b applications (CRM 5, TREX 7 update26) if I use the character "*" it return all items, but any other character, (join, union) returns nothing for any requests.
I have the following error : "An exception has occurred: Invalid attribute "TEXT_0001" in the filter printout Invalid attribute "TEXT_0001" in the filter printout.
com.sap.isa.catalog.impl.CatalogBuildFailedException: Invalid"
(SRM0, RFC connections works fine, catalog is well replicated)
The Quick Search Attributes from the WEB-INF/cfg/catalog-site-config.xml was not be modified.
Any Help will be reward.

This reply is way too late, but might help someone.
There are two options in your case:
1. Attribute "TEXT_0001" is not replicated in TREX catalog
2. "TEXT_0001" is in P-Index, and you are doing search over the S-index (or vice-verse).
There are 2 types of Queries in ISA.
Catalog search which is done over the P-indexes (when you create your Quesry throug the ICatalog object).
Category specific search which is done over the S-indexes (when you get your Query from a ICategory).

Can select statement return 'No Record found' for each of invalid inputs.

Let say when you select a invalid booking number, oracle will
return nothing, but do u know how to make oracle return a record
saying it's invalid?
Example, the following sql normally return 3 records cause
only 3 numbers are valid, is there anyway to make it return
4 records and indicate those invalid ones are invalid somehow.
select booking_service, BOOKING_NO from tb_booking where booking_no in ('valid1','INVALID', 'valid2', 'valid3')

Along the same lines you could use object types to achieve the same result. This would remove the need for a temporary table, and also allow you to create the list of ids to check with PL/SQL without i/o. As an example
CREATE TYPE booking_id_typ IS OBJECT (id NUMBER);
CREATE TYPE booking_id_list_typ IS TABLE OF booking_id_typ;
CREATE TABLE bookings (booking_id booking_id_typ);
(you could have booking_id as type NUMBER, but for consistency with subsequent SQL I've used booking_id_typ)
INSERT INTO bookings VALUES (booking_id_typ(10));
INSERT INTO bookings VALUES (booking_id_typ(20));
INSERT INTO bookings VALUES (booking_id_typ(40));
INSERT INTO bookings VALUES (booking_id_typ(50));
The following SQL statement creates a collection on the fly, rather than using an IN clause.
SELECT i.id booking_id, DECODE(b.booking_id.id, NULL, 'Invalid', 'Ok') status
FROM bookings b,
SELECT id
FROM TABLE(booking_id_list_typ(booking_id_typ(10), booking_id_typ(20), booking_id_typ(30), booking_id_typ(40)))

This SQL statement works in 9i. I get the following error in 8i, but you might be able to CAST the TABLE to booking_id_list_typ, or depending on your application, create a PL/SQL variable of type booking_id_list_typ and CAST that instead.
