Select in select query

My table Structure;
select * from tblCase where flagsent = '1' and AdjournedDate = CONVERT(date, GETDATE()+10) and AdjournedDate = CONVERT(date, GETDATE()+5) and AdjournedDate = CONVERT(date, GETDATE()+2)
Am trying to do a select on the table above where "flagsent = 1" and AdjournedDate is either "todays date + 10days" or "todays date + 5days" or "todays date + 2days".
But when I run my query above it returns null, meanwhile column 19(in image below), meets the conditions I want.

AdjournedDate = CONVERT(date, GETDATE()+10) and
AdjournedDate = CONVERT(date, GETDATE()+5) and
AdjournedDate = CONVERT(date, GETDATE()+2)
These conditions are mutually exclusive, so there the query can never return any rows.
Presumably what you need is
flagsent = '1' and
(AdjournedDate = CONVERT(date, GETDATE()+10) or
AdjournedDate = CONVERT(date, GETDATE()+5) or
AdjournedDate = CONVERT(date, GETDATE()+2) )

According to this blog <a href="/people/prakash.darji/blog/2006/09/19/the-hidden-secret-of-constant-selection Selection</a>, we can create constant selection on both Characteristics and Key figures. I understand how to do it with restricted key figures.
Can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to create constant selection for a Characteristic in BEx Query Designer on BI7. I can't find options for 'constant selection'
Or is this the same thing when you include or exclude values?

I am actually using a Multiprovider for my queries but business requirements mean I need to create joins.
I am trying to avoid Infosets and I believe another way is to use the Constant Selection feature in Query Designer.
Going back to my previous posting, I know how this is done with a restricted KF but I don't know how when it comes to characteristics.
Can anyone help?

How to use multi select in a query report

I defined a lov. This lov retuns name and a id. I want to use the result of this multi select in my query.
I always get invalid number when I choose two items of the select. When I debug I see that the return value of the multi select is 1:2. How can I change the seperator : in , I tried the following but this does't work.

...and your user selected KING, FORD, and JONES. :P1_MY_MULTISELECT would store those values as...

...you could then write a query to return the selected enames with something like...

Actually in my report user will enter program name & variant name, based on this I need to find out the value for that variant & print that report. so for normal selection I can get the detail using FM: "RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS" but for dynamic selection (Free selection), I am not getting the detail using this FM.
So I need any FM or Table Name which gives me the value for dynamic selection based on the report & variant.

Not sure if you are saying you want the prompts on the same page as the results... however in 7.0 with BEx Analyzer, you can insert a text object from the design toolbar and assign it to the variable.... this way, lets say you run query for period 6, then the text object will display "6" on the same area where the query results are.

Display select list from query on manual tabular form

I got so frustrated I started over. I'm following the how to create a manual form.

The problem I'm now having is even though I display items as hidden, there is a column holder on the report for them. If I go into the report attributes and toggle the show attribute off I cannot reference an items value in my logic. I used /&nbsp/ for the column heading but I still get the little sort arrow where the column heading should be. I tried to toggle the sort attribute off but the sort arrow still shows up. How can I use the apex_item.hidden and not get a place holder for the column on a report? Thanks, Elizabeth

When do we need to use SELECT .. ENDSELECT
Usually we will never use SELECT .. ENDSELECT as it gives very poor performance.
But whenever we read a single Record we will use it as an alternative for SELECT SINGLE in some scenarios.
Eg: When the Full primary key is not specified in the WHERE clause.
SELECT * FROM MARC INTO WA_MARC UP TO 1 ROWS WHERE MATNR = P_MATNR.
ENDSELECT.
And other scenario is when we perform AGGREGATE OPERATIONS.when the Result is only one row.
SELECT SUM( LABST ) FROM MARD INTO V_LABST UP TO 1 ROWS
WHERE MATNR = P_MATNR.
ENDSELECT.
Note: In The Above scenario we cannot use SELECT SINGLE..

Enable fiscal year/quarter selection in a query

Hello all,
I want to have an characteristic fiscal year/quarter similar to fiscal year/period (0FISCPER) in my query. Unfortunately I can not find such a characteristic in the time infoObjects in my cube and in the administrator workbench.
Our Fiscal year starts in July. So the first quarter is July - September. The BW release is 3.5.
How canI enable a fiscal yearquarter selection in my query?

A couple of options for the same :
1. Have 0FISCPER in your cube and map the same to the custom characteristic in the update rules.
2. Have the custom characteristic in the cube in a separate dimension
3. If you have the same in the cube - have a variable against that and execute your query...
By doing the above you can get the same in the query.

Problem with 0FIGL_VC1 when use constant selection in the query

Please kindly help me. I have this problem for 2 weeks already.
When I create a query from virtual cube 0FIGL_VC1 (balance sheets / p&l statements), if I use constant selection in any of key figure, my report could not display financial statment correctly.
My report layout
Columns : key figures (including 0FIGL_VC1_CK001)
Rows: 0GLACCEXT (financial statement item) << as hierarchy
Initially, the query is processed correctly.
However, based on the requirement from my customer, I really have to use "constant selection" for some of my columns. Whenever I do so, the query display incorrectly. (Some nodes of financial statement item just disappear. (it seem like all contra item will disappear.)
Please help!

I would imagine this to be a query
Table 1 would contain the equipment type and warranty time
Table 2 would contain the current status of the equipment
Query would take the back from repair date + warranty =
expiration date

Simple. Join the two tables and create a derived column for
the expiration date. The exact syntax is dependant on your DBMS, so
check the manual for whichever you are using and look at the date
functions. There will be a function that will allow you to add a
number of date units (day, month, year, etc) to a date
field.

The SSO works correctly on Analysis for OLAP.
The Authentication used is the SAP authentication.

That's what we're doing in our 4.1 instance as well.
After a lot of troubleshooting, it looks like our problem is related to the SSO set up itself. We set the OLAP Connection to Pre-defined, entered the SAP credentials of one of our developers, then saved the connection. We were able to refresh existing reports and create new reports without any issues. We changed the OLAP connection back to SSO and received the same error message as in OP when we tried to select a BEx query.
I'm going to go through the entire SSO set up again. There was a BW hotfix applied throughout our environments, thinking it might have messed something up.

I'm trying to use a pipelined function in a select list lov query but i cet the error
"LOV query is invalid, a display and a return value are needed, the column names need to be different. If your query contains an in-line query, the first FROM clause in the SQL statement must not belong to the in-line query."
my query is as follows :
SELECT gt.navn d, gt.GEOGRAPHY_TYPE_ID r
FROM GEOGRAPHY_TYPE gt
WHERE gt.kode NOT IN (1)
and gt.kode in (select lov_value from table(RAPPORT_FILTER_PKG.GET_RAPPORT_FILTER_VALUE_PIP (
SYS_CONTEXT ('rapport_filter_ctx','filter_id'),'GEOGRAPHY_TYPES')) )
ORDER BY gt.navn DESC
if i use a discrete values '80' instead of the call to
SYS_CONTEXT ('rapport_filter_ctx','filter_id')
i don't get eny errors, but then the LOV isn't as dynamic as i has to be
any idears???

nope that doesn't do it either
contains a syntax errror at
SYS_CONTEXT (('rapport_filter_ctx',:P500_RAPPORT_FILTER_ID),'GEOGRAPHY_TYPES'))
my theory is that it's got something to do with the way APEX binds values because
the query
SELECT gt.navn d, gt.GEOGRAPHY_TYPE_ID r
FROM GEOGRAPHY_TYPE gt
WHERE gt.kode NOT IN (1)
and gt.kode in (select r from table(RAPPORT_FILTER_PKG.GET_RAPPORT_FILTER_VALUE_PIP ('80','GEOGRAPHY_TYPES')) )
ORDER BY gt.navn DESC
works fine in both TOAD and in APEX but as soon as i replace th '80' with :P500_RAPPORT_FILTER_ID then, apex won't accept the code??????

Toplink issues select distinct type query before fetch

When we have type classifiers identified by value, Toplink issues a 'SELECT DISTINCT TYPE' on the parent object and then queries the child records for that type, is there way to avoid the select distinct
type query from Toplink in queries, this is slowing down the query performance. thanks

Not sure why we need to query for type on t2 and t3 after we have made a join by id (t2.id = t1.ccy1Id,t3.id = t1.cptyAId), this is really breaking our performance, we do not want to add an index on
the type column
