SELECT ing BLOB, LOB etc.

On select from a table with CLOB and BLOB columns, Oracle replied thus:
SQL> select * from article;
ERROR:
ORA-03120: two-task conversion routine: integer overflow
How do overcome this problem simply.

There is a package dbms_lob, you can use that but not in pure SQL

Im planning to export oracle tables to a csv file, however, it came to my attention if BLOB/LOB/CLOB datatypes will be included during the export to the csv file?

Hi,
The performance would be slow, since as per my knowledge if you go for direct path - still tables or segments dealing with lob will opt for "conventional path".
Any non-textual information exists - kindly check out before to export.. ??

GPF in ORACOMMON8.DLL when SELECTing a BLOB w/OCI

I am using OCI with Oracle 8.1.5 drivers and I am trying to perform a SELECT on a BLOB and a CHAR. When I try to SELECT the BLOB, ORACOMMON8.DLL throws an exception (GPF). If remove the BLOB column from the SELECT statement and comment-out the OCIDefineByPosition the application works fine. So the GPF is related to SELECTing a BLOB.
Does anyone else had problems with ORACOMMON8.DLL blowing up under similar circumstances?

I'm assuming that Rosersberg is in Sweden (?). If it is then you are in a country where music can't currently be re-downloaded from the store, only apps and ibooks. If you still have your old computer with your music on it then you should be able to copy it over from it e.g. via file sharing, an external drive : copying content.

Lack of performance in SELECT-ing XML records

Hello Champs, I am new to XML world. But as a DBA now I'm into the situation to suggest better performance improvement in accessing XML records.
Problem:
There is a batch job from informatica, fetching records from XML tables(close to 400, one by one) stored in oracle database. All 400 tables just have two columns as described below:

Each table has NORMAL index created for it only for VARCHAR2 column:

Informatica issues below query on all the table, where it could just fetch only 400rows/sec in average. This takes entire buisness day to complete the batch job for all 400 tables, which gives big problem in production environment.

Not sure if you will like it, although it will improve your performance issues considerably, upgrade to Oracle 11.2.0.3 or 11.2.0.4 and be sure that all those XMLTYPE (CLOB) stored columns will be created/recreated with XMLTYPE (SECUREFILE BINARY XML).
One way of making sure that XMLTYPE will be stored via Binary XML Securefile LOB storage is by setting "db_securefile" on database level ( Using Oracle SecureFiles ) to value ALWAYS or FORCE. Binary XML Securefile XMLType content may only be created on ASSM enabled tablespaces...

Trying to update,have selected all with ID etc,but will not update

What occurs is that once I touch 'edit' the circles appears, as they should, to the left of every message. However, once I select one and go to select the second the previous selection is 'unchecked'. If I try to go faster I am able to select 2, sometimes 3, messages before it unselects them. This is very frustrating to say the least. Additionally, the same time I noticed this issue I also began having some serious battery longevity issues. I'm talking 25% drain in less than an hour. I've done all the standard stuff to fix this - reset settings, DFU restore etc - and the problem persists. The only commonality that I can come up with was the upgrade to iOS 7.0.4, it was shortly after this upgrade that the symptoms began.

How to create a selectable symbol window/list/etc...

Hello,
I am brand new to Flash and Actionscript and have a project I
want to do.
I would like to have a graphic area where I can display a
list of graphics/symbols that could be dragged
on to the stage or to a Movie clip to create a layout and do
this within flash. There are a couple of sites
I have seen that do what I would like to do.
In essence: I would like to have a window that would show a
scrolling list of symbols/objects that would
be populated (2 symbols/graphics side by side) and any number
of symbols loaded in the list/window.
Then to be able to drag one of the symbols to the stage or to
a movie clip. Being a beginner I don't know if
it is possible on a web page to have to SWF files on a page
and if you could drag between them?
A site where this is done is www.sugarhousebanner.com with
their banner designer tool. I would like to do
something a bit similar. Any input on how to do this in just
getting started would be appreciated.
The 2nd item I have is also seen on this same site. I am not
sure how they do the zooming in and out and not have the whole
stage affected if all the controls for the graphics, fonts, etc...
are on the stage also.

Well, it should be exactly the same way as you would create it in any other application such as your shell.
On my Sun keyboard i can get a degree symbol by using Meta-0 (thats a zero :-)

Why won't adobe standard XI v11.0.0.7 produce pdf when print to pdf selected in word/web, etc.

It will give option to select location to save to but after that, the pdf is not created. Have deleted the adobe pdf device from printers/device and recreated with same results. have uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck.

I right click on spot healing brush, current selection "spot healing brush tool " if I try to left click to select " healing brush tool" it wont for quite some time, and I can not hold space bar to display hand to move and sometimes can not even zoom. This happens no matter which tool I select. Can anyone help ???

Why I cannot select on user_tables, user_views etc when I am DBA?

but I am DBA and I can do select on every other thing in USER1 schema; why do I get errors on such statements.

Import extremely slow from 9i to 10G

I am preparing a 10.2.0.4 database for testing, (upgrading from 9i) because we are also moving to a new server, I am going to use the exp/imp method. I created a new database after installing and patching the software, then created the necessary tablespaces and users before using imp on the last export taken from the 9i database. Also turned off archive logging for the sake of importing an testing.
This is usually not the fastest process, the dump file is 13gb from the 9i DB, but when I refresh 9i test or dev databases quite often using the same method and do not experience the slowness I am seeing right now in 10G. It has been running for almost 8 hours on one table, which has just over 4 million rows in it, no blob, lob etc.. columns, and nothing of note in the alert log.
9i database is on Windows 2000 advanced server, 10G is on windows 2003 server with plenty of horsepower and RAM, but the cpu is never over 1-3% used
Any ideas here?

Try this:
1- Analyze only after import (Analyze=n)
2 -Have de dump to import on a different disk than the DB files.
3- Use commit=n
4- Use only a big rollback segment and put the others offline during the import
5- USe indexes=n and create them after import had finish
6- Use a big buffer during import, example:
(import option - time sec - Improvement %)
commit=y - 120 - 0
commit=y,buffer=64000 - 100 - 17%
commit=n,buffer=30720 - 72 - 40%
commit=n,buffer=64000 - 67 - 44%
7- Pre-create tables before with scripts and use ignore=y
8- use bigger db_cache_size and log_buffer parameters
9- stop archive generation, (ALTER DATABASE NOARCHIVELOG;)
After import is finish, don't forget create all indexes and generate new statistics.

How to Select BLOB?

Hi!
I'd like to select a BLOB from a table, but i don't know the right call sequence.
Example: SELECT recording from foo WHERE id = :id
Am I right to:
- prepare
- bind id parameter
- execute
the statement? When should the OCILocator be allocated/defined? How do i get the length of the data? How do i read the data to memory (or memmapped file)? sample code?
