Select List Performance Issue in Apex 3.1.2

Hi
It would of great help if you could suggest us for the following
We are facing some issues in Select List performance in Apex 3.1.2 version.
We have 6 select list and all have been cascaded i.e., values of each select list based on pervious list value.
Values in each select list are huge. Because of this, the performance is very slow.
It takes huge time to fetch the data based on other list values.
We cross verified in backend, the same query takes less time compared to the Application.
Any recommedation to fine tune this?

if your select lists are very huge then it could be the browser that is causing the slow down.
try and create an example using a static HTML file containing a select list of the same size and you may find the same performance issue.
a quick way to create the test would be to save the source of your APEX page as a html file

the MSEG index for material is
Index MSEG~M

SOBKZ
It could be used very efficient if you supply values for MATNR, WERKS and LGORT.
There is no index on LIFNR. IKf you want the data for specific vendor(s), you should select from EKKO first, ir has index Index EKKO~1

You can JOIN EKKO and EKBE to get the BSEG key fields GJAHR BELNR BUZEI directly.
I don't know your details but I think you can get all you need from EKKO and EKBE. You may also consider EKPO as is has a material index Index EKPO~1

Oracle apex popup using java script in tabular form select list(Am new to apex help me out... )

have two columns in that form, kept as a select list by selecting that 1st select list data the related datas has to be popup after selecting that it has to be displayed in the 2nd column by using

Adding items to custom list - performance issues - Request timed out error

I am using VS 2010, c#.
I am inserting records from an excel file, which contains 6000 records to a custom list.
I am using the Visual webpart, and oledb connection. I am not using the openXML format, as i need to use "xls" and "xlsx" type.
I am doing the below steps currently:
1) From the file upload control, i am saving the excel to the sharepoint layouts - inside that a custom folder, to keep the records.
2) Using the oledb connection to read the records and fill it in a datatable.
3) Inserting the datatable values to a custom list.
Looping through the datatable and inserting 3000 – 4000 records to List, I am getting the "Request timeout error".
Below is the sample code, where i am looping the datatable and inserting the record:

I am using the "using block" for the spsite and web objects. When I see the execution time out in my web.config it is set to 3600. But I am getting the request time out after 2 mins only.

If the list has custom columns which consists of string and Date types, can the same type be used? Or should the list be an empty list without any columns?
In the xml if it is put as "onerror= continue", how to fetch the records which error out?
Also, in the datatable code block, which I had put in the first post, I am also trying as below:

if(!string.IsNullorEmpty(dt[1].toString())
prjCmpListItem["FirstName"] = dt[1].toString();
Can these condition checks be performed with the "processbatchdata" approach?

Using dynamic array as record selection criteria-performance issue

Hi All,
I have successfully passed an array to my subreport and using it as selection criteria. This subreport is embedded in a group and prints data recursively. Problem is the selection is happening locally which causes all the records to be brought and then filters them. Any solution/help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Vinay. But I think I found my answer actually at the selection criteria I was creating an array from string as follows,
stringvar array ConjugateLots = split( str, ",")
in ConjugateLots* //this was causing the local fitration and then I switch to
* in split( str, ",") // which worked.
But once again thanks. But now I have another issue, I want the records to be sort in the array items. Any help with that also greatly appreciated.

Performance issues ..with apex in reports version 3.1

Hello All,
I am using apex 3.1 oracle 10g.
I am facing with performance issues with apex . I am generating iteractive reports with apex and the number of records are huge - running in 30 to 40 thousands of records and the reports is taking almost 30 minutes.
How I can improve the performance of this kind of report. I am using apex collections.
How apex works in terms of retrieving the records -?

The following are the sequence of steps to run the test case.
Note:- All the schemas , tables and variables are populated from database.
From Schema and Relations tab choose the following:
1)     Select P3I2008Q4 as schema.
2)     Choose Relation as query path.
3)     Select ECLA, ECLB, MTAB as relations.
From Variables choose the following:
4)     Choose the variables AGE_SEXA,CLODESCA,ALCNO from ECLA relation.
5)     Choose the variables AGE_SEXB, ALCNO, CLODESCB from ECLB relation.
6)     Choose the variables EXPNAME, ALCNO, COST_, COST from MTAB relation.
From Conditions: Click the Run Report button this generated standard report ( Total no of records in report – 30150 )
Click on Interactive report button –to generate an interactive report. ( Error occurred )
We are using return sql statement in generationg the standard report and collections for interactive report.

Multi Select Choice on af:query has severe performance issue

Multi-select choice used with af:query through a view criteria is causing severe performance issue on deselection of "All" checkbox, if the data in the list is around 550 rows. The same component works absolutely fine when used in a form layout.
I can provide you a re-producible test case, if anyone needs it!
***: This is a customer environment issue, and customer is eager to have multi-select in this case. Appreciate any help!

Performance Issue with Selection Screen Values

Hi,
I am facing a performance issue(seems like a performance issue ) in my project.
I have a query with some RKFs and sales area in filters (single value variable which is optional).
Query is by default restricted by current month.
The Cube on which the query operates has around 400,000 records for a month.
The Cube gets loaded every three hours
When I run the query with no filters I get the output within 10~15 secs.
The issue I am facing is that, when I enter a sales area in my selection screen the query gets stuck in the data selection step. In fact we are facing the same problem if we use one or two other characteristics in our selection screen
We have aggregates/indexes etc on our cube.
Has any one faced a similar situation?
Does any one have any comments on this ?

Goto RSRT--> Give ur query anme --> Execute =Debug
--> No a pop up ill come with many check boxes select "Display Aggregates found" option --> now give ur
selections in variable screen > first it will give the already existing aggregate names> continue> now after displaying all the aggregates it will display the list of objects realted to cube wise> try to copy these objects into notepad> again go with ur drill downs now u'll get the already existing aggregates for this drill down-> it will display the list of objects> copy them to notepad> now sort all the objects related to one cube by deleting duplicate objects in the note pad>goto that Infocube> context>maintain aggregates> create aggregate on the objects u copied into note pad.
now try to execyte the report... it should work properly with out delays for those selections.

Sharepoint 2013 Datasheet View Navigation performance Issues on large lists

I was recently upgraded to SharePoint 2013.
In SharePoint 2010 Datasheet View, one could scroll through and bulk select 100s of line items in Datasheet view very easily.   Navigating the datasheet view was just like navigating through a worksheet in Excel, and one could use quick select
keys like ctrl-shift-right arrow / down arrow to bulk select items.
After the upgrade to SharePoint 2013, using the "Quick Edit" tab in Datasheet view and changing the Item Limit to 5000 items, it takes an inordinately long time to load the list.   None of the quick select keys like ctrl-shift-right arrow
works anymore and the browser keeps warning about a slow-running script when attempting to select multiple items while scrolling through the list.
The functionality I need is for users to be able to bulk delete all line items in a SP list and copy (from Excel) and paste new line items into the SP list through their browser.

I am running SP Server 2013 with the Dec CU on my internal farm. This past week, I migrated 1 database containing 1 site collection (also ran the site upgrade to 2013). Prior to the migration, the users were using Datasheet View in 2010 to bulk
edit and also add attachments through the pop up window while in Datasheet View. After the migration, performance on their list using IE8 with less than 300 items was horrible for the end user and also for me as a farm admin (I'm running iE11).
I created a new view and performance seemed better for me and a slight improvement for the end user, but still not satisfying. The end user is using Chrome in the interim until I can test with IE9 to see if that makes a difference.
My main concern is the Quick Edit view. This user needs to be able to use the 2010 Datasheet View to manage attachments while in DS view. I created a new DS view on the affected list, but it still defaults back to the Quick Edit view. This
list is on 1 of 3 web apps in my internal farm. The interesting thing is that I can create a 2010 Datasheet View in a custom list on a site that was created in 2013 from scratch in another web app on my internal farm.  However, I can only do
this on 1 of 3 web apps. On my 2013 external farm, I can create a DS view in a 2013 site created from scratch in 1 of 2 web apps. Creating a list on the 2nd web app in DS view defaults the list back to Quick Edit. I checked in SharePoint
Manager thinking there was a web app feature that wasn't getting activated. There was only 1 web app feature that jumped out. Academic Library Site Safe Controls was activated on the 2 web apps I could create the 2010 Datasheet View on, but
not the other 3 web apps I could only seem to get the Quick Edit view when creating the DS view.
Is there a feature that needs to get activated or one that might need to be deactivated/reactivated?  My internal farm with the 3 web apps is running the Dec 2013 CU and the external farm w/the 2 web apps is running the March 2013
PU.
Aside from that, I've received complaints on the list performance using IE and not being able to use the 2010 datasheet functionality as noted above. I haven't received any complaints on being able to only copy 100 items in Quick Edit view at a time,
but I have also noticed that issue. In my case, the retry doesn't work and I have to delete anything over 100 items before it will save. I would like to find a resolution on this as well. Every bit of help I can get with this issue is very

Apex 4.0 Cascading Select List: ajax problem with german umlaute

I have problems with german umlaute and ajax cascading select lists (Cascading LOV Parent Item).
The data is populated without a page refresh in the select list when the parent select list changes but special signs like german umlaute are shown as weird characters.
Seems like there is some charset problem with ajax.
This is the only part of the application where special signs like umlaute are messed up. Everything else is fine.
I allready tried to figure out if I can escape the umlaute in the javascript (file apex_widget_4_0.js) but no success here.
Can anybody help me with this issue?

your specified character set in your DAD is wrong. As mentioned in the installation instructions at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/install.40/e15513/otn_install.htm#CHDHCBGI , Oracle APEX always requires AL32UTF8.

XE APEX 2.1 Select list

Hello,
An Oracle and APEX newbie here, running 10g XE.
I have a report on pg 1 with a link to page 2 for editing a row (in a view).
On pg 2 is a select list generated from a dynamic LOV from another table.
select reminder_type_desc rt_desc, reminder_type_id rt_id
from reminder_type
Yes, this reminder_type table is just a domain/lookup table (not sure the correct terminology for Oracle here).
The issue Im having is figuring out how to get the select list to select the value in the LOV that matches the value in the row from the view - all other data is correct.
I have a hidden item used to pass the id of the row to page 2, but not sure how to use it to get the correct value from the select list. I see other posts on this referring to using the 'Source' area of the page definition, but I'm not sure how to structure the SQL query.

If your page is a form using our built in dml (if you creating it using a wizard), for the item you want to have an lov on, simply:
1) Under Name, set the display type to Select list
2) Under Source, set the Source Type to Database Column
3) Under Source, set the Source value or expression to the name of the database column
4) Under List of Values, select the Named LOV you created (or you can use an item-level lov, you enter that in List of values definition)
5) Under List of Values, set Display Extra Values to Yes only if this is not a true foreign key - meaning, your value might not be found in the lov query
6) User List of Values, set Display Null to Yes only if the column can be null. If you do set to Yes, you should enter a Null display value (such as - select value - or - no value selected -)
That is the 'newbie' set of instructions. In overview, If you have a database column and associate an lov with it, we automatically display the proper value based upon what is in the database. You don't need to hide the actual database column and then have another item with the lov.

Select list with redirect - clearing field issue

I'created an APEX page where there is 2 items. A Select list with redirect and a Text Field. Both have "Only when current value in session state is null" for "Source used". If some data has been written into the Text Field and I'm selecting someting from the Select List with redirect, the value of the Text Field is cleared.
The page has no Computations, Validations, Processes or Branches.
As you may guess, I want the the Text Field NOT be cleared.
I know, that subject has been discussed over and over, but I'm all reading about it told me that "Source used" set to "Only when..." for the Text Field, it's suppose tol keep it's value.
Could please someone explain me what I've not understood.

Thanks for helping me. In fact, my real problem is about a page where two select lists are needed. The first one shows CATEGORIES and the second one shows SUB-CATEGORIES, based on the value selected at the first select list. Since there is other fields on the page and the data has not been saved yet (other fields afterwards and validations anyway), data entered has to be kept until the user click "Save" button and all the validations are ok. I was expecting to solve the issue by using "Select list with redirect" for CATEGORIES (this is the only way I was able to make SUB-CATEGORIES works) and having all my fields "Source used" set to "Only when...".
So, can someone told me if "Select list with redirect" is the way to solve my problem or should I use something else?

Performance issue in Internet facing APEX application

Hi APEX gurus,
at peak times we encounter in our application some very, very poor response times. If I look in the Administration tab Home>Administration>Monitor Activity>Page Views by Hour, I can see some very very nice average response times: 0.33 max, but rendering a page takes than 10 seconds. Also if i look at the load on the machine everything seems fine, there is enough room for the CPU to go up, also for the memory, also for the disk. With all these the performance of the application is very very bad.
Any suggestions where I should dig into the issue?

Looking into the SQL Developer Top SQL report, I could see that in top 3 by elapsed seconds I have some things that I did not write.
For example I have SELECT VALUE FROM SYS.V$PARAMETER WHERE NAME = 'compatible' called ~650000 times from my APEX application, even I have no idea where that is called, and having elapsed seconds 1570.
Also I have some code like:

We do not use images from the DB, but they are put directly into the filesystem and served directly by Apache. I have a FORM having a SELECT list based on a LOV.
that select list contains around - 15,000 records.
when I display the select list in the form..it's taking 6-7 seconds to run that page.
when I remove the select list..it running very fast ..1 sec..
HOW to resolve this issues??

I don't think so! When APEX displays the page, it displays all the option values of select list. If you see the Page HTML Source, then you can found 15k options get rendered onto your page. So evidently it's consuming time.
In general when I have to provide more than 200 options to user, I always prefer to go with pop-up lists.

Performance issues with respect scheme registration,select & insert query

I am facing performance issues with respect to schema registration,Select & insert query towards 10.2.0.3 version.It is taking around 45 minutes to register schema and it is taking around 5 min to insert a single document into xml db where as it was taking less than min to insert a single document into xml db of 9.2.0.6 version.Would like to know the issue and solution to resolve this issue.Please help me out on this as it is very urgent for me

Since it appears that this is an XML DB specific question, you're probably better off posting in the XML DB. The folks over there have much more experience with the ins and outs of that particular product.
