Performance Issue with Selection Screen Values

Hi,
I am facing a performance issue(seems like a performance issue ) in my project.
I have a query with some RKFs and sales area in filters (single value variable which is optional).
Query is by default  restricted by current month.
The Cube on which the query operates has around 400,000 records for a month.
The Cube gets loaded every three hours
When I run the query with no filters I get the output within 10~15 secs.
The issue I am facing is that,  when I enter a sales area in my selection screen the query gets stuck in the data selection step. In fact we are facing the same problem if we use one or two other characteristics in our selection screen
We have aggregates/indexes etc on our cube.
Has any one faced a similar situation?
Does any one have any comments on this ?
Your help will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi A R,
Goto RSRT--> Give ur query anme --> Execute =Debug
--> No a pop up ill come with many check boxes select "Display Aggregates found" option --> now give ur
selections in variable screen > first it will give the already existing aggregate names> continue> now after displaying all the aggregates it will display the list of objects realted to cube wise> try to copy these objects into notepad> again go with ur drill downs now u'll get the already existing aggregates for this drill down-> it will display the list of objects> copy them to notepad> now sort all the objects related to one cube by deleting duplicate objects in the note pad>goto that Infocube> context>maintain aggregates> create aggregate on the objects u copied into note pad.
now try to execyte the report... it should work properly with out delays for those selections.
I hope it helps you...
Regards,
Ramki.

  • Issue with selection screen element on At slection scree

    Hi All,
I am facing an issue with a checkbox which is present within the subscreen of a standard selection screen.
The issue is that the value of the combobox get toggled by itselfon the event mentioned below. I am unable to find out how this combo box value gets changed by itself on the screen events.I tried clear statemetns etc nothing is helping. I debugged with a watch point on this screen element and found this to happen. It just changes the value of the element to a previously held state.I m trying to clear the combobox but this event puts back the tick mark. How can I stop this.
AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON COL_FROM.  "COL_FROM is another screen element diffrent from the combobox
    Thanks

    Hi Vighneswaran CE,
This event corresponds to the PAI module of the COL_FROM field. So, it gets executed each time you press any valid function code on the screen (unless there was an error in a previous field). Nothing abnormal here.
That's difficult to help you on that topic, you'd better tell us exactly what report it is, where you have added your code (and what code) to change the checkbox, ...
    Best regards,
    Sandra

I had a custom program. There i have one parameter and one select option. But when i try clicking on multiple selections it is giving me a message in the status bar saying 'Place the cursor on a selection'. And it doesn't opens up the window to enter multiple selections.
When i double clicked on the message i get the message no DB655.
What can be the possible error for this ??

  • Problem with Selection screen values of an authorization variable

    hi Gurus,
I have an authorization variable for Division in my queries....Now whenever a user tries to run the query...a list of divisions is available to him....All divisions for which he/she has proper roles assigned.
Now the problem is that these values are not restricted to the ones relevant to that query (namely the multi provider)
Eg. for a Flowers Query (divisions relevant to Flowers only) all the divisions (including the ones for Vegetables, Crops etc.) are also visible only because these roles are also assigned to the same user. This needs to be avoided.
    In a nutshell....
Is their any way by which i can restrict the number of values popping up for an authorization variable in the selection screen, to only those values which are relevant to the info-provider on which the queries are based ???

    hi Deepu,
I did go through that SAP note. I just have one concern regarding that. The check at the Info provider level is clear enough and i already have that in place. Now there are 2 more checks required a) at the info object level and b) at the BEX designer level.
    Are all three checks required???
and also how do you  place the check at the BEX level??? i could not quite figure that one out...
    Any inputs would be welcome.
    Thanks,
    Nikhil

  • Performance issue with select query and for all entries.

    hi,
i have a report to be performance tuned.
the database table has around 20 million entries and 25 fields.
so, the report fetches the distinct values of two fields using one select query.
so, the first select query fetches around 150 entries from the table for 2 fields.
then it applies some logic and eliminates some entries and makes entries around 80-90...
and then it again applies the select query on the same table using for all entries applied on the internal table with 80-90 entries...
    in short,
it accesses the same database table twice.
so, i tried to get the database table in internal table and apply the logic on internal table and delete the unwanted entries.. but it gave me memory dump, and it wont take that huge amount of data into abap memory...
is around 80-90 entries too much for using "for all entries"?
the logic that is applied to eliminate the entries from internal table is too long, and hence cannot be converted into where clause to convert it into single select..
i really cant find the way out...
    please help.

Even though you tried to ask the question with detailed explanation, unfortunately it is still not clear.
It is perfectly fine to access the same database twice. If that is working for you, I don't think there is any need to change the logic. As Rob mentioned, 80 or 8000 records is not a problem in "for all entries" clause.

It is not clear what you tried to do here. Did you try to bring all 20 million records into an internal table? That will certainly cause the program to short dump with memory shortage.
    > the logic that is applied to eliminate the entries from internal table is too long, and hence cannot be converted into where clause to convert it into single select..

That is fine. Actually, it is better (performance wise) to do much of the work in ABAP than writing a complex WHERE clause that might bog down the database.

  • Performance Issue with Search screen

I am not sure to post on JSF or Hibernate forums. This one is for Performance Gurus
I have a "Advance Search" screen built with JSF/Facelets/Ajax4JSF
When i click on the link Advance Search it will take more than a minute to load the form.
The screen has 21 form fields out of which 8 are dropdowns out of which 6 are populated while loading the form. They are like LookUp tables. The other two form fields dropdowns launch popups
Now when i hit Search button it will go on for more than minute and most of the times it results in
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
I am using Myeclipse and Tomcat.
Here is the memory parameters from right clik eclipse properties
    "C:\Program Files\MyEclipse 6.0\eclipse\eclipse.exe" -vm "C:\Program Files\MyEclipse 6.0\jre\bin\javaw.exe" -vmargs -Xms128m -Xmx1024m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=164m
In addition i have also set Tomcat properties in Myeclipse under "Optional JVM Arguments" as
    -Xmx1024m
I am thinking of doing Hibernate Query Caching for populating dropdowns while loading the form
Any other pointers/suggestions will be greatly appreciated

  • Performance issue with selection of line items.

    Hi All.
I am facing seriour Time_Out error problem for my program. Actually i am developing RFC and i have to send data to non sap system as it is in sap tables. Now i have to send data for BSIS for new entries for a day. SO first i search BELNR for CPUDT in BKPF and then use for all entries on BSIS. But now my problem is for a single day i am getting 1679 documents from BKPF and when i use for all entries in BSIS, it will give time out error.
    my code is like
    SELECT BUKRS BELNR GJAHR
FROM BKPF INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE I_BKPF
          WHERE CPUDT IN S_CPUDT.
    if i_bkpf[] is not initial.
SELECT * FROM BSIS INTO TABLE I_BSIS
       FOR ALL ENTRIES IN I_BKPF
          WHERE BUKRS = I_BKPF-BUKRS
                       BELNR = I_BKPF-BELNR
                       GJAHR = I_BKPF-GJAHR.
    endif.
So please gurus help me ..its urgent..

I am facing performance issues with respect to schema registration,Select & insert query towards 10.2.0.3 version. It is taking around 45 minutes to register schema and it is taking around 5 min to insert a single document into xml db where as it was taking less than min to insert a single document into xml db of 9.2.0.6 version.Would like to know the issue and solution to resolve this issue. Please help me out on this as it is very urgent for me

Since it appears that this is an XML DB specific question, you're probably better off posting in the XML DB. The folks over there have much more experience with the ins and outs of that particular product.

  • Performance issue with view selection after migration from oracle to MaxDb

    Hello,
After the migration from oracle to MaxDb we have serious performance issues with a lot of our tableview selections.
Does anybody know about this problem and how to solve it ??
    Best regards !!!
    Gert-Jan

    Hello Gert-Jan,
most probably you need additional indexes to get better performance.
Using the command monitor you can identify the long running SQL statements and check the optimizer access strategy. Then you can decide which indexes might help.
If this is about an SAP system, you can find additional information about performance analysis in SAP notes 725489 and 819641.
SAP Hosting provides the so-called service 'MaxDB Migration Support' to help you in such cases. The service description can be found here:

  • Submit program with selection screen parameters - getting blank values

Hi, I'm submitting a program with selection screen parameters. when I pass '000' (I_TPLSCN  )value for Planning Scenario and when this goes to selection screen then I don't see value for Planning scenario as '000'(I_TPLSCN  ) but the value is blank in selection screen. I'm using the below code for this.
SUBMIT RMCPAMRP WITH MATNR_GL EQ I_MATNR   SIGN 'I'
                      WITH WERKS_GL EQ I_WERKS   SIGN 'I'
WITH PLSCN    EQ I_TPLSCN  SIGN 'I'
        via selection-screen        AND RETURN.
Could anyone please help me how to display value '000' rather than blanks.
    thanks in advance.

If I_MATNR, I_TPLSCN and I_WERKS are variable then try with
    SUBMIT rmcpamrp

      WITH plscn    = i_tplscn
      WITH werks_gl = i_werks
      via selection-screen

If I_MATNR, I_TPLSCN and I_WERKS are of type range then try  with
    SUBMIT rmcpamrp

      WITH plscn    IN i_tplscn
      WITH werks_gl IN i_werks

  • WAD template with BSP Application - how to read selection screen values

    Hello,
I've created Web template with Web Application Designer (WAD).
I would like to extend  that page with BSP Application...
Purpuse of this application is to read some information from tables
on BW transaction server and display them within Web page.
Question: How to read selection screen values from a Web template ?
    Thanks for any help,
    Pawel Borowiec

    Hi,
The selection screen parameters will be on an inputField, so try and get the is of the inputfield generated by doing View source...
And once you get the inputfield Id, you can read the value in the InputField(InF) by
    using the following code...!
    data : if_value type ref to cl_htmlb_inputfield.
    data : variable type string.
    if_value ?= cl_htmlb_manager=>get_data( request = request
                                                name    = 'inputField'
                                                id      = 'InF_ID_here'
           if if_value->value is not initial.
             variable  = if_value->value.
           endif.
    Hope this helps.

  • Performance Issue with BSIS(open accounting items)

    Hey All,
I am having serious performance issue with a accrual report which gets all open GL items, and need some tips for optimization.
The main issue is that I am accesing large tables like BSIS, BSEG, BSAS etc without proper indexes and that I am dealing with huge amounts of data.
The select itself take a long time and after that as I have so much data overall execution is slow too.
The select which concerns me the most is:
SELECT zuonr hkont gjahr belnr buzei budat blart wrbtr shkzg xblnr waers bukrs
                 INTO TABLE i_bsis
                  FROM bsis
                  WHERE bukrs = '1000'
                  AND hkont in r_hkont
                  AND budat <= p_lcdate
                  AND augdt = 0
                  AND augbl = space
                  AND gsber = c_ZRL1
AND gjahr BETWEEN l_gjahr2 AND l_gjahr
                  AND ( blart = c_re      "Invoice
OR    blart = c_we      "Goods receipt
OR    blart = c_zc      "Invoice Cancels
                  OR    blart = c_kp ).   "Accounting offset
I have seen other related threads, but was not that helpful.
We already have a secondary index on bukrs hkont and budat, and i have checked in ST05 that it does use it. But inspite that it takes more than 15 hrs to complete(maybe because of huge data).
    Any Input is highly appreciated.
    Thanks

Thank you Thomas for your inputs:
You said that R_HKONT contains several ranges of account numbers. If these ranges cover a significant
portion of the overall existing account numbers, then there is no really quick access possible via the
    BSIS primary key.
Unfortunately R_HKONT contains all account numbers.
As Rob said, your index on HKONT and BUDAT does not help much, since you are selecting "<=" on
BUDAT. No chance of narrowing down that range?
    Will look into this.
What about GSBER? Does the value in c_ZRL1 provide a rather small subset of the overall values? Then
an index on BUKRS and GSBER might be helpful.
ZRL1 does provide a decent selection . But I dont know if one more index is a good idea on overall
    system performance.
I assume that the four document types are not very selective, so it probably does not pay off to
investigate selecting on BKPF (there is an index involving BLART) and joining BSIS for the additional
information. You still might want to look into it though.
I did try to investigate this option too. Based on other threads related to BSIS and Robs Suggestion in
    those threads I tried this:
SELECT bukrs belnr gjahr blart budat
      FROM bkpf INTO TABLE bkpf_l
            WHERE bukrs = c_pepsico
            AND bstat IN (' ', 'A', 'B', 'D', 'M', 'S', 'V', 'W', 'Z')
AND blart IN ('RE', 'WE', 'ZC', 'KP')
AND gjahr BETWEEN l_gjahr2 AND l_gjahr
            AND budat <= p_lcdate.
SELECT zuonr hkont gjahr belnr buzei budat blart wrbtr shkzg xblnr waers bukrs
FROM bsis INTO TABLE i_bsis FOR ALL ENTRIES IN bkpf_l
                         WHERE bukrs = bkpf_l-bukrs
                          AND  hkont IN r_hkont
                          AND  budat = bkpf_l-budat
                          AND  augdt = 0
                          AND  augbl = space
                          AND  gjahr = bkpf_l-gjahr
                          AND  belnr = bkpf_l-belnr
                          AND  blart = bkpf_l-blart
                          AND  gsber = c_zrl1.
The improves the select on BSIS a lot, but the first select on BKPF kills it. Not sure if this would help
    improve performance.
Also I was wondering whether it helps on refreshing the tabe statistics through DB20. The last refresh
was done 7 months back. How frequently should we do this? Will it help?
