Select list without multiple="multiple" attribute

Hello,
Has anyone been able to have a list just like a "Multiselect List" but without allowing the selection of multiple elements? If I just choose "Select list", all I get is a dropdown box even if I change its height to 10 and adding size="10" to attributes seems to be forbidden for some reason..

To do this you will need to put some javascript on your page.
Lets say you have a select list called P1_SELECT_LIST.
Within that page's attributes in the onLoad section reference a javascript function.
i.e. onLoad="changeSize()".
Within the HTML Header section of that page's attributes create a function called changeSize that changes the size of that item.

I created this anonymous Pl/SQL function at a application level ..Then I followed up to create a select list with a function inside. However I could not create select list with the command suggested in the demo which is

APEX (2.1) returns a error message. What am I missing ? Should the function be called from somewhere else after creating a regular select list..? Where the functions (Pl/SQL) should be ideally stored for application level access..? and for across application level access ? How can I check the function works good. Help is appreciated.

Dynamic select list without refreshing.

Hello,
There might be some other people having the same problem as me and I do apologise if the solution is already posted in the forum.
I have a select list with it's LOV as a select query from say table A and next to this, i have a link which call a popup and allow user to enter a new entry to table A. My question is how can i see my newly created item in the select list without manually refreshing the page?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Venus,
You can call a bit of javascript that will append the new value to the end of the options list:
function addNewItem(itemValue, itemText)

opt.text = itemText;
list.options[listsize] = opt;
Then you just need to call the addNewItem function and pass it the value and text to be added onto the select list options.

One select list with multiple LOV's (LOV based on how page was called)

APEX 4.0.2
I've a DML form page from a report on which I need a single select list item to have a differing LOV based on how the form page was called.
The calling page (report), contains an edit link column and a create button. Depending on which is selected, I wish the LOV for my select list item to change. The idea behind this is that if someone creates a new entry, I want to constrain the select list to a subset of rows of a table query populating the LOV. On the other hand, if an existing item is edited, I want the select list LOV containing all rows of a table query populating the LOV.
What I've tried...
- Duplicates of select list item each triggered to render based on an arbitrary value set when either "create" or "edit" are selected. This did not work because the item was part of DML and would not allow replication on the same page.
- Logic in the LOV sql statement controlling which sql was to be run based on an arbitrary value set when either "create" or "edit" are selected. This did not work as logic is not allowed in LOV sql statements.

Anyway, these are the two dynamic LOV's. The first I have in play right now (when creating new records). I need to have the other for existing record modifications.

Dynamic select list as APEX plug-in custom attribute?

I'm developing a region plug-in in APEX 4.0.1. I wanted to make one of the custom attributes a select list where the options offered were the current application list templates (queried from the <tt>apex_application_temp_list</tt> view: the rendered plug-in region should be styled using a standard list template from the current theme). However, the Select List plug-in custom attribute type only appears to support static lists. Can anyone confirm that I've not missed anything and that this is indeed the case?
If so, it seems that the plug-in will have to rely on developers typing a list template name into a text box, which is far from ideal. (Unless anyone can suggest a workaround?)
Component specific templates can be applied to several built-in component types—lists, calendars, reports—so it would make sense for there to be a similar capability for plug-ins where these are congruent with an existing template type, e.g. by providing a Template Picker plug-in custom attribute type.

you have not missed anything. Plug-in attributes of type "Select List" just support static values. And I'm not sure if a query based Select List would really help, because what happens if the template is deleted. Or in the reports where it shows if the template is in use.
So I think your second approach to extend plug-in attributes to link to certain shared components (Lists, Templates) is the better way forward, because that will also allow us to know what you are actually referencing and we can use that information in reports, delete operations, ...
Will add it to possible enhancements for 4.1

Cascading Select Lists - Not Working for me

I am trying to implement Denes Kubicek's Ajax Cascading Select List solution.

I'm a newbie to APEX and checked the forum for advice on cascading select lists. I saw the thread for
"Cascading Select Lists - Not Working" posted by sue and the replies by Varad Acharya, but I'm still
having issues of not seeing the alerts, not able to run the pl/sql process in SQL Workshop, and not
getting the expected results.
I have a list of countries (US - USA, CA - CANADA, etc.) and a list of states for each country. When a
user selects a country I would like to show the list of states within that country.

Save Select List states and load it on reload

Hi all,
I have a form in which the user have to choose the values from 5 Select Lists connected with LOVs. If the user selects values in the first 3 lists, but in the fourth one the value which he/she looks for does not exist, the user clicks on a link "Other" opening a page where he/she can enter the value and this value is added to the corresponding LOV on close of the page. The problem is that on the main page the Select List is not updated. The page should be reloaded. And if the page is reloaded, all the values selected in the first three lists are gone and the user should select everything again.
So the question is how to reload one select list keeping the selected values from the others?

How to create dependent Select Lists?

Hi,
Found in the documentation that to create dependent select list we have to do these 3 things:
1. In the parent select list, choose the option "select list with submit".
2. Defining a branch that branches back to the current page.
3. In the child select list sql, use the value of the parent (eg. :P6_PARENT_SELECT_VALUE).
When I change the value of parent select list the page is getting submitted and its going to the parent page. I've a branch that goes to the parent page but how to create a branch that comes back to the same page and then use it in parent select list?

In my select list, i set element attributes of :
style="min-width: 130px"Just because some of the smaller values were getting truncated.
Then I add this onload javascript code:

})It's not perfect for getting the right size (i.e. i think it increases exponentially, but you can play around with the multiplier)

Probably best to add this line of code:
$(this).width($('option:selected', this).text().length*10)
into a dynamic action for a change event of the item, of which the true action is to execute javascript code.

Sorry, but Address Book does not allow you to select more than one email address to send to in a group. There's really no reason why people need multiple copies of a message, anyway; they have the option of forwarding email to another email address of theirs.

Select One Choice-select multiple attributes into mutiple columns does not work.

Select One choice has the capability to bind multiple columns to multiple columns. I understand how this wizard is to be used for these multiple mappings, i.e., view2.a mapped to view1.a, view2.b mapped to view1.b, etc., and using 'select multiple...' for the display attribute. When I complete the 'List Binding Editor" correctly, in this example, only column a will be updated. Columns b,c, etc. will not be effected.
Has anyone solved this? Please do not reply telling me how to use the editor, I know how, it just is not working.

Multiple select list in Safari 8.1 is broken again

Multiple select list is broken again in iOS 8.0.* and 8.1 Safari.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.

I am in urgent need of this requirement referencing/copying all selected multiple values in select List and putting them into text item/text-area separated by ","/comma delimiter.....any help

No worries, I've found a way.
You need to create a pl-sql function that generates the necessary HTML code that will render the select list using the selected="selected" attribute when the option value is selected.
This is an example of the expected HTML code for a multiple selection list:

<option value=1>Cheese</option>
<option value=2 selected="selected">Egg</option>
<option value=3>Cabbage</option>
<option value=4 selected="selected">Ham</option>
</select>
I created this function in order to find the matches within the saved code and the option value. And then include the selected="selected" string in the returned HTML code.
Finally, I'm using this function in the SQL query that generates a tabular report and I changed the column Display Attribute to "Standard Report Column". Then the report instead of showing the HTML code, will render it to a HTML item.
