Select on collection with report

hi,
i am pretty new to oracle apex.
Back ground information
I have used collections. My project is for entering the owners details when a car is purchased.
These owners belongs to one company & they can be multiple owners.For example a car is purchased by XYZ company & they have owners 3 (abc,cde, fgh).
Since number of owners are changing i am using collections. I mean on first page i am recording the Company name & number of owners and next page i am
capturing their names, first name last name, address etc.
Technical question:-
I am able to use collection and insert the owner details along with company name. I am able to add new details in the text field of owners ,
But there is a select list in collection. If the owner name already exist in the database then it should automatically fill the details. i am not able to achieve this.
My first page screen looks like this
Company Name Textfield
No of Onwers selectlist
My second page screen looks something like this:-
Owner name Owner name Last Name Address State Country
selectlist Textfield Textfield Textfield Textfield Textfield

I am able to make user manually fill all the fields. What i am not able to achieve is " if the owner name already exist in the companys database then they should be able to populate it automatically & at that point of time the second field(ownername) will be disabled".

Hello,
Your not going to need Ajax for this it's just some DHTML. I know people use them interchangeable now nowadays but there is a difference.
Anyway I'm going to suppose that you have only on image in each row to make it simple.
You'll need a function like this where pThis is the select list.

What this does is gets the first image in the row same row as your select list and then you can do whatever you want with it. You'll want to swap the logic of if statement and image locations per what you need but there you go.

So is their any standard method in which you can choose whether you want to take the output printout with or without Selection screen.

How to select column dynamically with sharepoint list as data source in ssrs report

I am creating reports from SharePoint list but i have requirements to select the column name dynamically with SharePoint list as data source. I didn't find any way of doing this..
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue..

Sorry for the delay.
According to the current description, I understand that you want to specify column name in dataset query designer dynamically when using SharePoint list data source.
Based on my research, this is not supported by default. As a workaround, you can use XML data source. The XML content can be embedded directly within the query. This lets you use the expression capabilities within the processing engine to build queries and
data dynamically within the report. And it can be used for retrieving XML data directly from an external data source, passing it using parameters, and embedding it within the query.

Reset Select List in Form With Report

Hi,
i have Created Form with Report Page. I have three select List on this page.
1-Market Name Select List with Redirect
2-Customer Name Select List with Redirect
3-Contect Person
when i select market Name then Respective Customer name is select In to select List Customer Name.
When i select Customer Name Then Contact Person is Select in Select List Contect Person.
Problem is when i select Customer Name from Select List then Contact Person comes into Contact persion Select List But the value in select List Customer Name and Market Name is not dispaly , Display Only -Select Market - and -Select Customer Name- .
I want when i select Customer NAme From Select List then value from MArket and customer Select List should not be reset.
How can i do this.

Try 'select list with submit', not "select list with redirect". Redirect usually doesn't save the values in session state so they are lost when the page repaints.

Access Web Database - Select record and make report with all associated records

Hey everyone,
Right now I'm in the middle of trying to convert an Access client database to be web compatible and I'm running into some problems. For this question, I think I may need to explain a little bit about the database:
The database I'm making is designed to store information about music rights for different songs. The users can input information about writers, producers, organizations, properties, businesses - which is stored all in different related tables. Then, when a
user inputs a song, they choose which writers, produces, organizations, etc. are affiliated with that song.
What I'm trying to do is make a report where you can choose a writer from the list of all the writers and then produce a report with all of the songs by that writer.
I was able to do this in the Access client by making a report that, when opened would trigger (using the On Open event) a form to open where you would choose a writer from a combo box and then click a button. When the button was clicked, it would use the value
in the combo box in a query, which would find all of the songs by that writer and then open up the report which would have the writer and all of their songs on it.
Because web reports don't have many event options and web queries are very limited, I have not found a way to make this report.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Report Selection Formula Error with Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Fix Pack 3.5

Hello,
My name is Carlos, and I would like to report a defect found in the Crystal Reports 2008 SP 3 Fix Pack 3.5 Runtime that is affecting the majority of our reports. As well, I would like to ask if there is a simple workaround that does not involve updating hundreds of reports.
The issue is that the runtime engine incorrectly returns the report selection formula. I have included sample code showing what I mean.
To reproduce;
1. Create a simple report that has a date range filter like:
({Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE})
AND ({Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE})
2. Create a test app as follow that loads a report using the following code:

The expected value is:
ReportSelectionFormula:
(   ( {Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE} )   AND   ( {Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE} )   )
If we were to repeat the same test above but use the Crystal Reports 2003 SP3 runtime (i.e. no Fix Pack), which can be dowloaded from [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123592010E/cr2008sp3_redist.zip], we would get the correct report selection formula. A side-effect for this incorrect report selection formula is a runtime exception complaining about an errorkind and a boolean being expected.
Do you know if there is any workaround that I can apply in code, perhaps a different Fix Pack? Is there a Fix Pack expected to be released soon? It is not practical for us to update our reports and use a different style in the record selection formula because we have many such reports, and our customers probably have even more.

How can I work with report columns in computation or validation?

I have an updateable report. Bevor submitting canges, I want to do computation or validation on one of the report columns. But a report column is not an item. Is there a possibility to work with report colums?

Hi Daniela,
Presumably, your tabular form has been created using the wizard?
If so, you might like to slightly change your SQL statement to allow you to access the "display only" columns in the collection.
When you have time, you should have a look at the HTMLDB_ITEM package api documentation as this explains how you can manually construct a tabular form. But for now, for the "display only" column, you need to do something like:
select
other fields,
HTMLDB_ITEM.DISPLAY_AND_SAVE(n,fieldname) columnheading
FROM table
where "n" is a column number - this will become G_F0n in the collection. You should ensure that you use a number that is not being used by an editable field - if you're not sure, do a View Source on a rendered page, and look for name="f01", name="f02" etc - these are the column numbers, pick one that isn't used for your new column.
The documentation says, for DISPLAY_AND_SAVE: "Use this function to display an item as text, but save its value to session state." so this sounds exactly what you need.

Select query in a report

Hi!
Is it possible to modify a select query for a report in the following way:
I have created two fields where users input values and operators.
Operators selection is a static list consisting of: =, like , in
Value field is a text field.
The current query is:
SELECT
A,
B,
C
from TABLE
I would like to add:
WHERE
A : P1_OPERATOR : P1_VALUE
but it doesn't work; I get a notification that the operator is incorrect.
It has a defaulft value = and when I set let's say 5 in the value field the whole query should be:
SELECT
A,
B,
C
from TABLE
WHERE
A = 5

Hmm, I get the following error:
Updatable report parse error:
ORA-20001: Query must begin with SELECT or WITH
The only difference I see is that your type is SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query) while I have SQL Query (updateable report) hardcoded.
I have APEX 4.2.2, I'm not quite sure how to change this...

Hi Arun,
Try this.
1, Set one dynamic parameter,
2, Drag and drop that parameter into your report title.
3, Pass the value(sort value) dynamically from your application,
4, Cheers..
Other wise Try with Dataset, create a dataset and fill thev alue into that.. Then set the data source from CR designer. and darg and drop that data column into the report.

Checked the setups based on 557171.1, 375693.1,1101855.1.
Still the issue is existing.
May i know the cause of the issue or is it a bug?

Hi ,
The cause of the issue is the standard rdf is set to run for single operating unit. But R12 is a moac setup enable application. Hence The operating unit mode is changed to Single from null in system administration concurrent program setting for the XML report concurrent program.
This fixed the issue.

How to add a new selection criteria in a report painter

I would like to know how to add a selection criteria in a report painter. I believe in Gen data we can add our selection criteria but my there is no option to select company code in that. Can anyone help me in this

hi sankar,
When u click on the Gen. Data Selection on the right side of the screen you can see the Available Characteristics.
On the same side u can see with the 3 colors blue, yellow and white....
Click on the that , in that screen click on the Administrator option.
There in that screen UNCHECK the company code.
Click on the ACTIVATE and CLOSE it.....
Again SAVE the table settings.... then you can find the Company code..

Form with report, update field in the form = field is not updated in table

I have a form with report. On Primary Key in the report is a link to the form. I select one row in the form by choosing the link in the report. Then I update a field in the form and press "Save". I see the success message "Action processed" and I'll be back in the report. I see the field in the report with it's old content. It is not updated. I don't understand why. Can anybody help me?

Is the form field source set to the proper database column? It's either not properly defined or your Save button and the builtin update process have somehow become disconnected. Check to make sure that the Save button is set to perform an Update in the database operations setting.

I have been working on a book and have 418 photos already in my book. All of a sudden I cannot access the book format to see the multiple view, spread view, or single view. I can no longer see my book although I still see the collection with 418 photos

I have been working on a book and have 418 photos already in my book. All of a sudden I cannot access the book module and clicking on the multiple view, spread view, or single view does not take me back to the book I have been working on. I can no longer see my book although I still see the collection with 418 photos under collections. What I do see is a blank template for a new book and I can't find the unfinished book I started with 418 photos. It is like the new empty template is somehow covering it up. How do I get back to the book I have been working on?

Is it possible you mistakenly clicked on a [Clear Layout] button?
But a great hint is- Always click on the [Create a Saved Book] button, early in your new book design.
Then you have a permanent link to the book in the Collections panel. (In addition to the standard collection of your selected images)
Note: a Book Collection shows an icon that looks like a book.
Every time you come back to edit the book, open the Book Module by clicking on the white arrow that appears on the end of your Book Collection title. (The title as saved)
Re-opening a book without using the "Saved Book" option can have unpredictable results.
A "Book" Collection is like a "Smart Collection" because anything you do to the book design, change pages, change images, etc, is automatically updated in the Saved Book collection.

Having issues with report server in OEM

I'm having some issues with viewing the UNIX metrics for our reports server in OEM. The metrics are coming up as 0, no error messages. The cpu/memory metrics come up for the HTTP server, and on the instance page.
I'm also not able to stop/start the reports server via OEM. It's greyed out on the oem instance page.
This is occurring only on one machine...I have another midtier box and have no issues viewing metrics/start/stopping report server.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for your post.
I 'd like to suggest you can try to sing out and re-sign in the Azure server explore.
1.right click the Azure node on server explore.
2.Select "Connect to with Microsoft Azure " and then login using your account.
3.Make sure your select the right subscription.
4.If storage list didn't include your account, you could right-click the storage node, and select Attach External Storage.
Another approach is that you can re-install the
Azure tool.
