Select Printer and its Settings

I have two printers connected to my computer, a laser and an inkjet, and whilst I normally use the inkjet (the default printer) when I want to print double sided I use the laser.
At the moment I have to select the printer, set its properties and print.
I am wondering, is it possible to put a button on an Adobe Acrobat Form to (a) select the printer and (b) set the properties of that printer?
If it is possible where would I find information to assist?
Many thanks
David

If you always use the printer in the same way, why not simply go to Start>Printers and select your printer, right click, and get the properties. Then set the double sided and such there so it is the default of your system. What you are asking is not common for software. Another option would be to copy your drive printer to a printer instance and set that one with the preferences you use just for Acrobat. That way you are again set, but might select the printer LJpdf or such.

Hi All,
I setup 2 Mac Minis, 'setup in a no-apple id. Now with Mini1 I installed a shared printer from Windows7 Pc it ask for credentials then I input Adminstrator account and the password ticking the remember in "keychain"
I run a test print and its seamless. I reboot the Mini1 and run test print again and its good.
Now in Mini2 I did the same installation on shared printer but it is asking for user credential again and again, there is a check mark in "remember in keychain but still gives a notice that "requires authentication" I put the admin creadentials same with Mini1 then it prints.
every time I print on Mini2 its always asking for a user & password before Printing. How can we fix it.
I tried
- lpd printing = "authentication required"
- reset printer settings ang re-install printer = "authentication required"
- replace sharename in windows7, reinstall printer in Mini2 = "authentication required"
This stuff never happened to Mini1.

The warranty is NOT international. The exception is the E.U.
Since Spain is an E.U. Member country, you can take it back to an Apple Store in any EU country for service. It can not be serviced outside of the E.U.

• IPhoto Printing and Default Settings

Help would be appreciated.  All of sudden, with no other changes to my computer or my printer, when I try to print a photo to 4x6, 5x7, etc sized photo paper, the print is oriented to portrait, rather than to landscape.  Can't find any settings to change the orientation.  I've reset my printer to default factory settings.  I've noticed that all of the print pre-sets in my computer are set to portrait, and I can't find a way to change the pre-sets.  Very frustrating as I print quite a few pictures this way and have never had a problem.  The only way I could print a 4x6 and get the whole picture is to print it on 8x10 paper.  Thank you for any suggestions.  Using MacBook Pro (2011), HP Officejet 8500 all-in-one, and iPhoto 9.5.1.

That indicates that the problem is limited to your account on the Mac.  Since deleting the iPhoto preference file didn't help it could be another pref file that's messing up the process. Here's a way to determine if that's the case:
Trouble Shooting Preferences
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you're running Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
1 - close all applications.
2 - open your Home/Library folder and Option-drag (copy) the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
3 - select the contents of your Home/Library/Preferences folder and drag them into the Trash bin in the Dock.  You will be asked to provide your Admin password.
4 - reboot. Be sure to know your account's username and password as you will be asked to log in with it.
5 - run the application again and determine if the problem(s) is fixed.
6 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
B - Open the Preferences  folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Home/Library/Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace or Skip button.
D - reboot.
7 - If the problem is NOT fixed, drag the contents of the Preference folder on the Desktop into the Home/Library/Preference folder and replace the entire contents that were created by clicking on Replace.
8 - reboot and you're back as square one.
Note:  keep the Preference folder on the desktop until you're sure all registration info for your apps are working.  If not you can copy the required files from the desktop pref folder to the working one.

• Can I password protect printer and monitor settings?

I am the computer instructor at an elementary school. One of the teachers has a problem with a student who continually changes her preferred printer, her dispslay options, etc. She is running OS9, and I wondered if there was a way to protect her preferences like there is in OSX. She doesn't want to set up multiple users. Is there any way to do this?
Thanks for any input.

Hi, twirlingelephants. Using a utility such as File Buddy 7.6, which could be run from a CD rather than installed on the Mac(s) in question (installing it where students could use it would be the height of folly), your teacher friend could set the Invisible flag on any files she doesn't want tampered with, including the Monitors control panel, the Chooser, even the whole Control Panels folder. Then those files or folders wouldn't appear at all in the Finder, the Apple menu, etc., even though they were still in place and functioning. The student's access to settings would literally vanish. He might be able to guess what had happened, but unless students are able to install software on the school computers willy-nilly (which certainly shouldn't be true), there wouldn't be anything he could do about it.
Of course the student would probably decide to vent his frustration in some other way, so Don's suggestion of unpleasant consequences is certainly appropriate. But if the miscreant's identity is unknown, diverting his vandalism into some other realm could conceivably make him easier to spot.

• I select print and it is taking a long time to print

I have a HP 6500A plus...the printer keeps going off line.  Then when it shows on line it takes a long time to print.

• How to calculate Sales percentage difference between selected year and its previous year in a Matrix

Hi,
I'm trying to generate a report using matrix like this
                                                          Month
Product     PreviousYearSalesAmount    SelectedYearSalesAmount      %SalesDifference
I can populate year sales amount, but i cant calculate the percentage.
Can Anyone help me please.
Note: Month and Year are passed as parameters.
Thank you.

Hi Abhiram,
As per my understanding you can show your fields in matrix.
Only problem is to create the additional column which will have the  %SalesDifference value right?
If yes,
Just create one column as shown in below screen,
It will create one column, Name the header of this newly created column as %SalesDifference
In below this header , where you want to show the value for %SalesDifference as
=sum(iif(Fields!year.Value=Parameters!year.Value,(Fields!SalesAmount.Value),-Fields!SalesAmount.Value))/Fields!SalesAmount.Value
Set the property of the column in number as Percentage.
run the report, you will see as below screen.
For your reference I am attaching my RDL code, you can save as .rdl file and run the report (sample Data inside the report only)

• PSE 11 - MacOX 10.7.5  Printing Wide Format Printer and Profiles Not Working Correctly

Macosx 10.7.5
When I start up PSE11  and go to print I set up the paper size then select a Printer Profile.  When print the image it is a mess and seem to be black and white it is as if I printed on the wrong side of the paper.
I then go and try to print it again.   Now it all works as it should beutiful colours and spot on.  all other print following this works.
Then I shut down PSE11.   Start it up again.  Guess what  first print is a mess again.   all others after are fine.
I uninstalled PSE11, deleted prefs.  and reinstalled PSE11.    Same thing..   first print a mess all others ok.
the issue can be replicated consistantly......
no problems with PSE10 or PSE9
any suggestions?????
cheers elo

Thank You for your suggestions.
I have been printing using PSE for over  14 years going back before the term PSE came up.  I have done this professionally using profiles from others and those I generate myself..
All the things you  mentioned have been done.
The main  point missing in your suggestions is   It is only the first print every time I open up PSE11 that does not work...
at completion of print I immediately go back to the file command and say print and then bypass all settings and print again.   this time and every other print aafter are perfect...      I did not change one single setting...
I know about printer and adobe settings etc.     but thanks for going through the list it was a good reminder of how to remember everything sometimes we rush and forget something...
Finally    It works PSE6, PSE9, PSE10, CS5, Lightroom 4.   I think I have the settings right......
Any suggestions for how to get PSE11 to force the settings for the first print would be appreciated..
Only thing I have not done is upgrade to the latest version of the epson driver.  Released less than a month ago to provide support for mountain lion.(iam only on lion)  Maybe just maybe???   you never know.   Will try this when I finish by next batch of prints.
I will back up as I do weekly...    Still have the old driver from way back in release 10.5.8   will try to fire up to 10.5.8 and see what happens....
cheers elo

• HOW TO:  Copy and Paste THE Filename AND its PATH from Finder

HOW TO DO THIS: Copy and Paste THE selected Filename AND its entire PATH from Finder to another application as in document footer reference, or document database which has a path field to aid in locating the file later.
Finder, Spotlight and File Info (can be used to display Path) or using Command F, command I, etc. but user is not allowed to copy the path to clipboard.
This is rudimentary, yet the word Path, is unknown to Mac Help.

AJ,
Isn't it amazing....There is no Command Key for this action? Apple Care was confounded too. And thanx, it'll be a help....
Jim
its tedious, but this should work:
open a terminal window.
Drag and drop the icon for the file in the terminal
window.
This will put the full path including the filename on
the command line.
Copy the path from the command line, and paste
(wherever).
Close the terminal window.

• Incomplete Print and error massage

Dear sir
i just purchased one HP Deskjet 2545 all in one printer. I am a novice user.
i have already set up it wirelessly. I just turned the wifi-direct and wifi on my printer. Connected from my pc wifi  with the passcode which printed automatically. then followed the steps with usb connected.I have given few single page print and its all ok. But when i have given print of a pdf file having 5 pages, it printed the last page correctly but it delivered an incomplete print of page 4 and it stopped. all the remaining 3 pages have not benn printed. I got a notification like "print error. an error occurred while printing". i tried the same print for thrice, and every time it finished with the same result. i observed, the incomplete print dont have few lines of the last paragraph and also the mergins are out of paper.
Then i have given print separately for 5 times by mentioning different page numbers each time and the it got printed. kindly solve this issue as i have to print at least 50 pages per day.
Regards
