Drop-down list cut off

Hello,
I am using LiveCycle Designer 7.1 and I have a problem with a drop-down list in a dynamic form.
The list is at the end of the page and has got lots of items, so when the user tries to scroll down the list the first time it is cut. The next times the list drops down the page and goes to the following page but only items on the page of the drop down can be selected using the mouse.
The only two walk around I found are
1) making the form static (but in this case I cannot use dynamic fields anymore, and I need them)
2) force the user to go down the list with the arrows...
I have tried this in an empty form, just to be sure that it is not a problem caused by scripts or other objects.
Please let me know if you have the same problem or if I made something wrong!

Email Select People From Drop Down List

I am creating a form that sales reps fill out to go to one whole department and I have that all set with my email submit button.
However I also need to form to go to one of 5 others based off their names in a Drop down box for who is a manager for a certain region. Since all 5 don’t need to be copied on all form submissions I want our sales reps to be able to select their manager from the drop down list to ultimately add their email address in the CC field when the forms is submitted.
Is this possible?

Ok,
if you don't know scripting, then you can use this macro (requires Desiger ES2 or ADEP Designer).
It will create the script for you.
The only thing you have to do is to install the macro.

How can I increase the number of Tags displayed in Drop down list?

When I go to Bookmarks/Tags, there are only 10 tags displayed. I have created at least 15 tags.
Is there a way to increase the number of Tags displayed in the Drop down list?

Do you mean "Recent Tags" which has an icon a blue-colored folder with a primitive looking magnifying glass over the folder?
That folder does have a limit of 10 results. If you want to create an "All Tags" item on the Boomarks Menu, you can do that by creating your own "smart folder." The process I use is a little involved, so bear with me (also, see the screen shots).
The query used by Recent Tags is:
place:type=6&sort=14'''&maxResults=10'''
So for All Tags we will drop the maximum results limit:
place:type=6&sort=14

Go ahead and select the line you want and right-click > copy it.
Next, click the bookmarks drop-down button, expand the Bookmarks Toolbar, right-click any existing item, and choose New Bookmark.
In Location, paste the query, and in name, type All Tags (or your preferred description). When you click Add Bookmark, Firefox will add it, but it doesn't show the blue search folder icon. Drag the bookmark to the menu, and it will turn into a functioning search folder.

All drop down lists flicker on and off while typing or right clicking.

All drop down lists in Firefox, whether it's the menu drop downs, the autocomplete drop downs in the URL bar or the Search field, or even autocomplete drop downs in website form fields, flicker on and off as I type, or when I'm right clicking a link to open in new window or trying to copy a link. I can sometimes get what I want by waiting for it to flicker on and clicking at just the right moment, but it often doesn't work at all. I have a fresh install of Firefox 13.0.1 with no running add ins, plugins or other 3rd party tools. (The troubleshooting info says I have the Adobe Create PDF Extension enabled, but it's not)
None of the suggested fixes I've found in the forums seem to apply here, cause they're all related to add-ins that I don't have.

How to Pre-select Value in auto drop down list

Hi,
I have an automatically populated drop down list, and I'm trying to have it display with a pre-selected value (in the example 5). I didn't know where to start, so I modified the Dreamweaver code for "Set value equal to" from the Dynamic list function.The list displays, but the value defaults to 0. What am I missing?

The problem is that you have nested PHP tags inside a PHP block. You can't do that. In fact, it's surprising that the code works at all. Normally, nesting PHP tags inside a PHP code block will trigger a syntax error.
Also, your code is very difficult to read because of the way you use double quotes all the time. It's best to use single quotes for strings, except when you need to display the value of a variable inside a string. You can also nest double quotes inside a single-quoted string and vice versa, making for code that's much easier to read without all the backslashes.
This is how I have rewritten your code:

Drop Down List - Setting the Default Selected Item

I have a drop down list in my application that gets populated by a remote database. When you select an item from the list, a screen full of thumbnails is populated based on the selection. We have decided that when the user gets to this component in our air application, that it looks too empty and barren. All that displays is a drop down list with an empty screen. So we would like to set a default setting for the drop down list so that when the user gets to this component, a screen full of thumbnails is awaiting them and they can change it if they want. My first instinct was just to set the selectedIndex property of the drop down list to the value that we want as the default, and that works, but it only changes the label in the dropdownlist, it doesn't actually populate the screen with the thumbnails. That is because when an item is selected, it has to be commited to the drop down list by a CLOSE event that then sets off the close handler that populates the screen with thumbnails. So after looking at the documentation, I found that there is a method called closeDropDown that states the following:

When I use this method, nothing happens. In fact if I add a listener for the CLOSE event, the close event isn't getting fired. So I am a little befuddled. The only thing that I can figure is that I am setting the selectedIndex and not the selectedItem before I call the closeDropDown method, and if you look above, the documentation vaguely states that that "If true, commit the selected data item". Do I need to set the selectedItem and not the selectedIndex? If so, I am not exactly sure how to do this since I am using a service to populate my drop down list which kind of makes the dataprovider a little unclear to me in the code because it gets replaced by an AsyncListView. Here is what I have.

I don't see your close handler in the code you posted, so if you provided it and I missed seeing it, please forgive me. I'm a bit unclear on why the open and close of your dropdown list is so critical to your functionality. It seems to me that the page of data would be tied to the item selected in the drop down (which to my mind is the only purpose for the drop down to be there). So why do you first need to open and close the drop down, rather than just taking the selected value and doing whatever you'd normally do with it to populate that page?
What I'm getting at is that I'd expect that page to be a separate component that would just have a property for the selected "thing", and that you could populate it either manually, as I suggested, or through the close handler on your drop down--I wouldn't think that there should be a need to go through the close handler every time. Even if you don't have it implemented the way I'm thinking, you may want to think about whether you need to go through the close handler every time, or whether you could break it out so that the close handler simply determines which item to select, then jumps to another function that actually does something with the selected value. That way, you don't have to go through the overhead of opening and closing the drop down if you need to change its value programmatically.

Good Morning Everyone,
Can any one please advise how I can start to build the form that has a drop down list(DDL) to list other forms so the user can select one from the selection of that DDL to open a new form.
e.g A form in workspace ES3 with drop down list to list 3 forms: form1, form2, form3. When user select form1 from the DDL, then it will kick off the render servic to launch form1 in workspace ES3.

Value need to select from the drop down list & should be save under Variant

Hi,
My requirement is that i need to display two values in drop down list of a selection screen. Between two values , one value will be display as a default value. During program execution user can choose any value from drop down list as per requirement and
he can save this in a Variant.
Next time if he choose data from Variant, but still he will be able to select any value from drop down list.
For that i am using FM VRM_SET_VALUES. How can i make the changes to meet my requirement using this function module or any other suggestions will be highly appreciated.

You want to display value based on the key selected in dropdown list. If you want to do like that
1) Create a context attribute for ex: key_value
2)In the properties of the attribute select the calculated as true.
3)It will create getter and setter methods for your attribute.
4)Go to implementation add the following code in getter method of your attribute

//KEY is your dropdown key attribute not the value attribute.

Web UI - Value not getting selected from drop down list .

Hi All ,
I am facing a problem in one of the fields which is enhanced with a drop down functionality .
I have created the GET_V_** method and also the GET_P_** method for the same .And finally I am able to see the values in the drop down list . But the problem is , when I am trying to select a value from the drop down no values are selected .
Can anyone plese help me in this as What has to be done .
I have taken references from few guides but I am not getting any clear idea of what has to be done .

Hi Ranjita,
To trigger a round trip, you must have given the event name in GET_P method.
Same event handler would trigger.
Please put a break point in Event Handler in IMPL class, and in SET_attr method of the attribute in CN class and see if value is getting set properly or not. Final value that would be displayed on UI would be there in GET_attr method of CN class.

I have a street address and a billing address. A question is posed with a checkbox — "Is the billing address the same as the street address?" If Yes is checked, the street address automatically fills the billing fields. If No is checked, the user must fill in new information. In both the street address and billing addres, the State field is a drop-down list. Selecting Top N records in a table using a slider or drop down list

Hi Experts,
I have a query that displays 1000 records ( say) in VC iview.
Can i have a drop down list in the variable form to control the number of records displayed in the output table by the user .
or can i have a horizaontal slider ( Min value is 2 -max 1000) to display the number of records in the output table selected by the horizaontal slider.
basically iam having a requirement to give the user the capability to select the Top N records of the output table...where the user enters the N value in Drop downlist of variable form or user slides the N value using Horizontal slider

Yes it is possible. First you need to create 'Condition' in BEx query where you have to create 'TOP N' & 'N' should be a variable input. Then you will get this in 'Variable Screen' of a query. In VC for this same variable you can use slider. Use 'Select' function in the 'Action' of the slider & pass it to require table/graph.
Try this, this will give you the required result.
