Selecting a random frame in another scene

I have an app I'm creating with Flash CS5.5 with 42 different short stories in it. It has 2 scenes. Scene 1 is the opening and contents menu to access the stories. Scene 2 contains the 42 stories.
In scene one, I have a button that I want to be able to pick a random story so it would need to pick a random frame between 1 and 42 in scene 2. I have seen some code in here that will pick a random frame when you open the program, but I don't know how to tie it to a button or pick a random frame in another scene. Any ideas on how this is done?

I don't understand why, but it's not working properly for some reason. I have only one scene now and the 42 stories ended up being in frames 88-139. When I click the random button the first time, it seems to work ok. It sometimes works a 2nd or 3rd time, but it eventually gets to the last story and it won't do anything after that. I think it's going past the last frame of the timeline so the buttons no longer work after that.
There is a randomizing button on every frame except for frame 1.
This is the code I'm using for it with the first randomizing button located on frame 2:

Selecting a Text Frame in another file (JS/CS3)

Hi, I'm a newbie so this is probably a dumb question.
I'm trying to copy the contents of a text frame in another ID file and copy/paste them into another text frame of my active document. Every example I find creates a NEW text frame and copies it and they work fine but I'm having trouble selecting the text frame or its contents (it's the only object in the document) in the already existing document.
The section I'm struggling with is:

I'm doing something wrong here. It doesn't like the 'parentStory' in the select line. I'd be happy with a way of just doing a 'select all' and being able to paste it into the new document with a variable name so I can edit it.

I think the third line should be:
var mySourceSlugFrame = mySourceSlugPage.textFrames.item(0);
Note though that you don't actually need to select/copy/paste. You can use duplicate().

GPU Acceleration causes random frame in encode?

New Mac Pro (6 core, d500 cards, 32GB RAM, OSX10.9.4). Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014.0.1. Tested on two separate machines of the same configuration.
I have a just over 2 hour long 1080p ProRes file that I was encoding to MPEG2 for DVD. During QC of the disc, a random frame from another part of the movie was found in a spot about 39 minutes into the encode. The issue was in the encoded MPEG2 stream.
The client also wanted a lower resolution h264 proof of the video, and that was encoded on the same machine at a separate time. That had the same random frame at the exact same spot.
I encoded the preview h264 in just a few minute segment of the video around the glitch on the second Mac Pro. It showed up again. I used the same setting but turned off GPU Acceleration, and the frame is gone.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on here? Obviously there is a problem with GPU acceleration on the new Mac Pro's with Media Encoder, but what could be specifically causing it and what could be done to fix this? With all of the issues in Premiere and After Effects, some of which are being caused by software updates, and the issues with the one Mac Pro needing to be replaced due to bad video cards, I feel like there is just a ton of problems that didn't exist on our outdated Mac Pro with Final Cut Pro 7.
Please let me know of any ideas to make me not doubt every encode I do on these machines with GPU Acceleration turned on. Thanks.

Does anyone have any additional ideas on this? I heard from the CreativeCow forums that this has been a known bug with GPU Acceleration on the new Mac Pros. Is this the case? Has anyone else had this issue looked at by Adobe?

Data from a frame to another (bis)

I have a first Frame DataPanelCli, when I use the button "Rechercher" in the class ButtonPanelCli, I find the informations of my company in the class FindRecCli. After when I use the button "STRUCTURE", I use the JFrame StructRecCli BUT I CAN NOT show the data coming from my first Frame.

To get data from one frame to another, either create one frame with a reference to the other one so it can discover the data in it, or create a static variable in one of your classes that both frames can access

HELP ME i need to pass String variables from one Frame to another

I need help with some code.
i need to pass a set of string values from one frame to another.
from the mainscreen i need to pass what type of seats the user has requested this is done by radio buttons. i need this information to then be passed onto the next frame called Mydialog1 and placed in a textbox with label st. it dosn't comple and i don't know why
this is getting me depressed. I need some serious help with this

Pass a variable from one frame to another

I have 2 JFrame, one just has a button which is select file, and it will get the path of the selected file, and i have another JFrame which will get that path and open up another JFrame and load up data using the filepath. How would i pass the path from one JFrame to another?

As far as I could understand your question: The second frame is created when the button is pressed? If that is the case you obviously handle the event in some kind of a listener which gets the path and then creates the second frame.

Passing values from one frame to another in a PSP

i have problem of passing combo values from an HTML frame to another HTML frame.
These combo values are selected via a sql query. Now when a onClick function tries to pass these selected values to a Java Script function it says invalid object for the java script objects.
<form name>.<combo box name>.options when called gives invalid object as JS error in the browser.
plz can, some one suggest me how to recognize these selected values.

I dont see a 'REFRESH' option in the context menu (when I right click on the query). Also, the REFRESH option available in the MENU options (ie PAUSE AUTOMATIC REFRESH) also does not work.
The way I built my workbook was, I built the 1st query in Analyzer and then I started inserting 'ANALYSIS GRIDS' in the remaining worksheets. To these GRIDS - I linked a data provider and linked a query or query view to that data provider.
Any more suggestions??

How to select a random row with for update?

I have a package that needs to assign a random, reusable number (ID) that is not currently being used - to a procedure.
I'm trying to simulate a pool of numbers (IDs) using a table that has an ID and IS_USED columns.
How do I do:
select a random ID (random row)
from pool_table
where IS_USED is 0 (not taken)
FOR UPDATEThe for update is to lock the row from being taken by another process calling the package.
OR:
Can I simulate a pool of numbers with a different object (not a table)?
I need the numbers to be coherent between sessions (thus package variables will not work) and only one session uses the same ID at any given time. When it finishes the number becomes available for further runs.

Passing Input Text Data to Dynamic TextBox in Another Scene

Hi everyone there,
I am creating a quiz for my school using flash.
I am wondering if it is possible to pass the answers key in
by students in the input text field to the dynamic textbox at the
end of the entire quiz to show all the ans by the students and all
the model ans of the quiz.
May i know if this can be done?
Or is it better to pass info from text box to text box in
from one frame to another in the same scene?
Also, how do i create a page that will list down the total
number of questions the student has answered correctly and show her
score?

An instructor at a summer camp told me to avoid scenes, so
I've been afraid of them ever since.
I'm not sure I quite understand the first post - you want the
students to put in their own answer key?
I made a quiz once. It was about genetics. This first frame
had a "let's go" button that started the quiz. Each consecutive
frame had a question and an oddball amount of input fields. The
frame had each input set to a certain variable. At the end it added
one to the score variable for each textfield that matched my magic
answer. You could do all kinds of things this way. The syntax
looked something like:
if(input3A.text = whatever the answer is) {
++score; //adds to score variable
and it could make a result3A_txt.text = "Bingo";
"input3A" is arbitrary - for problem three, two, etc. the
text field was called "input" and then a number, and then, if there
was more than one text field for that problem, a letter. This is
just the first field in problem three.
The second line in the if statement talks to a field. You put
a static text with the problem number, and next to it,
result3A_txt. If the user answered the problem correctly, the field
will become "Bingo" or something. You would do this for each
problem so that every correct one would say "Bingo."
To get a percent score:
percent_txt.text = Math.round((score / max_score) *
100);

How to copy a table from one text frame to another...

Is there a way to copy a table from one text frame to another? I'm using JavaScript. The following will move a table from one text frame to another, but I need to copy.

According to your description, you want to copy a table with Primary keys from one database to another database.
As per my understanding, I think the best method is use Transfer SQL Server Objects Task in SQL Server Integration Services. The Transfer SQL Server Objects task transfers one or more types of objects in a SQL Server database between instances of SQL Server.
Server roles, roles, and users from the specified database can be copied, as well as the permissions for the transferred objects. Indexes, Triggers, Full-text indexes, Primary keys, Foreign keys can also be copied.
To use the Transfer SQL Server Objects Task, we should create a SQL Server Integration Services Project in SQL Server Data Tools, then drag a Transfer SQL Server Objects Task to Control Flow pane. Specify SourceConnection, SourceDatabase, DestinationConnection
and DestinationDatabase for the Connection, select the table in the ObjectsToCopy category, then change CopyPrimaryKeys to True and the other corresponding properties in the task.

Help with selecting 10 random records from all records meeting report selection criteria in Crystal 11

I am trying to select ten random records from all that match the report selection criteria then report on each of these random records for QA/QI. I have tried the RND function however it is giving me a random number rather than a random record selection. I cannot figure this out and am despirately seeking assistance.Thank you,Amy

I don't know of any Random record selection functions but maybe you could write your own custom function inside of a record selection to randomly filter the records. You would use the Rand function we currently have to decide if a record was included in the report data or not.Another possible option is to filter the records before they get to the report. You can only do this if you are pushing the data into the report instead of having the report pull the data. An example of this would be passing an ado recordset to a report at runtime. From what I can tell of that image, it appears that it should be okay. A likely cause of additional problems is the use of scenes... I never recommend using them... they can be problematic to navigate. I can offer what someone else would probably tell you to try in this situation. In frame 1 of the aboutus scene, put a frame label "aboutus_frame1", and then change line of code to _root.gotoAndPlay("aboutus_frame1");
IF that doesn't work, then I can't offer much else except to say to not use scenes. Use movieclips and/or the one timeline with sections spread along it.

Service template problem - Unable to perform the job because one or more of the selected objects are locked by another job - ID 2606

I’ve finally managed to deploy my first guest cluster with a shared VHDX using a service template.
So, I now want to try and update my service template. However, whenever I try to do anything with it, in the services section, I receive the error:
Unable to perform the job because one or more of the selected objects are locked by another job. To find out which job is locking the object, in the jobs view, group by status, and find the running or cancelling job for the object. ID 2606
Well I tried that and there doesn’t seem to be a job locking the object. Both the cluster nodes appear to be up and running, and I can’t see a problem with it at all. I tried running the following query in SQL:
SELECT * FROM [VirtualManagerDB].[dbo].[tbl_VMM_Lock] where TaskID='Task_GUID'
but all this gives me is an error that says - conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier msg 8169, level 16, State 2, Line 1
I'm no SQL expert as you can probably tell, but I'd prefer not to deploy another service template in case this issue occurs again.
Can anyone help?

I am unable to remove a host from my Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2. I receive the following error:
Error (2606)
Unable to perform the job because one or more of the selected objects are locked by another job.
Recommended Action
To find out which job is locking the object, in the Jobs view, group by Status, and find the running or canceling job for the object. When the job is complete, try again.
I have already tried running the following command in SQL Server Management Studio
SELECT * FROM [VirtualManagerDB].[dbo].[tbl_VMM_Lock] where TaskID='Task_GUID'
I received this error back:
Msg 8169, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier.
I have also tried rebooting both the host and the Virtual Machine Manager Server. After rebooting them both, I still receive the same error when trying to remove the host.

How many hosts are you managing with your VMM server?
The locking job might be the background host refresher job. Did you see any jobs in the jobs view, when the host removal job failed?
If there is no active jobs in the jobs view when this host removal job fails, can you please turn on the VMM tracing, retry the host removal, and paste back the traces for the failed job (search for exception and paste the whole stack)?

In the Timeline, go to the first frame and press M to put a marker on it. Go to the other frame you want to jump to and put a marker on that one too.
Now press Ctrl+Semicolon to go to the previous marker - or Ctrl+Comma to go to the next marker.
