Selecting the treenode at client side

Hi all,
I am using JSF tree (Dynamic Tree) for my application.
I have constructed a dynamic tree .Below which one button is there.
Requirement is like this
1)i have to select a node and some check image will sit on the node.
Every time i click the node it hitting to the server.But I don't wan't it to be hitted the server every time.The selection of node should not refresh the page.Only after clicking the button it should move to next page.
2)when i navigate back to this page the node which i have selected should be remained as selected (or checked).
Whenever i return back to the tree page the tree is refreshing and no node is selected.
Only single node has to be selected at a time.
So plz suggest me how can i select the tree node client side how to make it remain selectd when we navigate back to tree page.

I am not clear ... is this issue happening on only one PC and IS working on the server and other PC's? Also ... are you getting an error or is the error you are getting this "Error We are sorry for the inconvenience at client side"?

The Group Policy Client Side Extension Group Policy Shortcuts may have caused th e Group Policy Service to terminate unexpectedly.

Hi all,
Having an issue with the shortcuts Group Policy extension applying to our Windows 7 machines. It was working until last Wednesday and since then users get a Group Policy Client service error when logging in.
We have narrowed it down to the shortcuts extension, if the extension is disabled then a user can log in, if enabled and empty then the following error comes up. With all the investigation we have done so far it seems as though something on the client is
making this happen.
We have –
Copied the original policy
Exported and imported the policy
Deleted all the shortcuts
Deleted all the shortcuts and created a brand new shortcut
And the same thing happens. Only if you right click on the Shortcut Extension and select disable then the user can log in
When running Gpupdate /force we get the following error

How is the issue going? Does this issue happen to all Windows 7 clients? I am not sure this can be helpful but we can give it a try to install the following hotfix.
Some Group Policy preferences are not applied successfully on computers that are running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

This is an error I've been seeing forever and it was always the impression that upgrading would resolve it, but it never has even in 10.3. 100% of our users get these errors in the Event Viewer:

We also seem to have flakey policy issues where once in awhile a user will not be able to logon to Windows with Workstation Only while getting the " not allowed to logon interactively" message, other times the users report not being able to access the Windows Date and Time Properties and further sometimes they are unable to make system changes.
We have troubleshooted this and the only resolutions we've found are to run zac cc, zac ref, zac pl and sometimes it seems like deleting c:\windows\system32\grouppolicy will help.
In regards to the Event Viewer entry I posted, on any given machine I can issue the command gpupdate and it will put another entry into the Event Viewer (sometimes multiple ones). I've learned through research that if I "clean up" c:\windows\system32\grouppolicy\gpt.ini the errors go away, but once the policy is refreshed they come right back.

I'm not sure how to get Zenworks to use the cleaned up version nor and I too sure what those extra extensions are and how they got in there. I may need to contact Novell in regards to this, but since I'm already working on an SR with them I figured I'd go ahead and post here first.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the groups I'm using. NOTE: These have been in affect throughout the issues experienced. Users will work perfectly fine then suddenly the problem will start happening without any policy change on our side.

-Assigned Rights under a group I called "Other Rights"-
Access this computer from network
Change the system time
Log on locally
Shut down the system
The only condition I have is that these issues happen when logging in Workstation Only and I'm not able to recreate the problem on demand with tests.

When user's get this error, it generally means their account is not in a

Chart Control printing at the client side

Hi,
I have multiple chart controls (in VS2010) on an aspx page, which also show their relevant detaild data in a table on the same page. I could not found yet an appropriate solution for printing such a page with chart control and other data.
In fact I was able to print the chart alone at the client side, but only by sending it directly to the printer, this method is unable to show print preview dialog to the client.
Then i started thinking in another direction, and came with the idea to export my desired controls into a pdf file which then can be shown in the browser (which resolves browser independance), for that i used nReco (the dll which comes with dot net) pdf converter
which can convert the whole html page into the pdf file (by passing the url of the page) and then opens/saves in the browser to print.
But when i pass it (to one of the the funtion in nreco) a container means a div or a panel control which holds the chart control and other normal controls then it gives me the error that unable to convert to pdf.
Tis may be due to the relative path of the chart control image.
I am stuck in this situtation, My original requirement is to show the the print preview to the user at client side with all printing options. It would be very convenient if the desired control can be exprted to pdf.
And I don't want to use any ohter third party control (for print preview at client side) which needs to be installed on the client machine.

Save report on client side in three tier architecture

Hi,
We have a 3 tier 10g R2 Application server installed on Unix.
We want to generate and save report directly to a location on client machine.
But when we try to do that report is saved in server and not on client machine.
Can anyone help in this regard?

We are aware of this method, but this is causing following problems to us -
1. Report name concurrency, we will have to change existing coding to a large extent to make sure same report when generated by different users should have seperate names so that there is no conflict.
2. To transfer to client machine there can be access right issues, though we have not tested this aspect.
So was thinking if there is any other way through wich we can directly save the report on client side rather than transfering file between AS and client?

that reason the CSS has been pulled into the html file by DW, it
won't look that way in the eventual page file.
After lengthy battles with the Spry Horizontal menu, I
eventually resorted to Pop Menu Magic 2 (PPM2) to generate menus.
I'm very happy with the product (I'm not looking for PPM2 support,
but rather support pertaining to CSS-driven menu's in general
relating to caching). I started out with a single main navigation
menu, which was very comprehensive - but also very big (ito file
size). I was hoping to cache a part of the menu on the client-side
to reduce download times once the site visitor has downloaded the
first page in the site (where he enters the site is not
applicable). But that proved impossible (I think...).
I then followed some advice to break up my main navigation
menu, keep only the more important stuff in there and rather
distribute the lower levels of the main menu into their own
dedicated menus. From there the page linked above.
The main menu at the top is fine, no problem there. On the
left below the masthead I've created two menus, one above the other
(it displays as a single menu but the first menu ends above the
"Other tour lists" item). The first of these two menus contains the
bulk of the heavy navigation elements (±160kb of the total
page file size of 220kb). The div info that applies to this menu =
<div id="p7PMM_2" class="p7PMMv06">. I'd love to cache this
menu, either in full or the bulk thereof, on the client-side. That
is implement a client-side include. When a visitor first enters our
site the include file with the 160kb (secondary) menu gets
downloaded together with CSS stylesheets, etc. When the visitor
links through to a following page in our site, his machine
(client-side) dishes up the menu to that next page without having
to download it from our hosting server a second time.
Is this possible and how? Any and all suggestions will be
appreciated!

all have high-speed broadband connections. I seriously doubt that
any of them are running dial-up connections. Thus this issue is not
going to sink our site. But I'd love to cut page file size if
possible.

visitors that may have their javascript disabled in their browsers.

suspect that the Javascript in the include file does not get
called. If the Javascript is kept in the html file, the menu
content (elements) in the include file arrives in the html file
after the relevant script has been called and doesn't get
rendered??

Even without doing anything on your part, the images, the
CSS, and the
javascript is already cached client-side. You cannot cache
any of the
structural code client-side.

Can we access popularity trends using client side script?

Hi,
I have a requirement to show the hit count for my image library's item(s). When ever I am opening an image from the image library, I just wanted to show the hit counts. For this I have created a Number column and updating this column by using CSOM
when ever hit happens to that particular item.
The problem arises here, for visitors ( who has read only permission to the site) I am not able to update the column due to permission issue. Since we all know that we can't elevate the privilege from client side script. And also our design says that we
can't give the contribute permission to all the users at the library level. How can we update the count at item level even when the visitors are opening an item from the image library?
Please help me...

Client Side Rendering on Terminal Servers

I’m having horrible printer issues on my Terminal Servers such as slow printing, slow to add printers, some applications load slowly because they are enumerating the list of printer (thanks Procmon), slow logons, etc. I'm trying to get Client Side Rendering
(CSR) disabled. From what I can tell it still appears to be on. Terminal Server are Windows Server 2008 SP2 x86.
On my print servers I have verified that all printers have Render print jobs on client computer unchecked. I have a Group Policy linked to the OU that the Terminal Servers are in that has
Always render print jobs on the server set to enabled. Per
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2008/02/10/ws2008-client-side-rendering.aspx I have verified that on each Terminal Server in
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers the
ForceCSREMFDespooling value is present & set to 1 so the GP is being applied.
However I still have tons of entries in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\Client Side Rendering Print Provider\Servers\<SERVERNAME>\Printers.
I have found KB958656 which seems to describe my problem that CSR is not being disabled. However one of the files it updates is older than a file that I have (win32spl.dll) & one is newer (printcom.dll).
Printcom.dll in hotfix is 6.0.6001.22288 mine is 6.0.6001.18000
Win32spl.dll in hotfix is 6.0.6001.22288 mine is 6.0.6002.18005
Has anyone else seen this behavior & been able to get CSR disabled?
Has anyone else had success with the KB hotfix mentioned or know whether or not installing it would causing any issues (since it has that older file)?

Hi, sorry, went away on leave for a while so didn’t respond.
Alan – our case was REG:112081612189183.
For someone who has been dealing with MS support for about 20 years, this was the most disappointing of any support call I’ve ever had raised – to have the call shut
down, without a perfmon trace, process explorer analysis, or hang dump analysis (of spooler) – and simply blame “3<sup>rd</sup> party drivers” without any proof – is utterly deplorable.
Anyway, for anyone’s benefit who has similar problems – trying to do direct printing from RDS – I’ve managed to get a solution working.
Here are the details;
A nightly print spooler clean-up script that;
Stops the spooler
Deletes the entire key under “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\Client Side Rendering Print Provider”
Re-creates the key (empty) and sets the value "RemovePrintersAtLogoff"=dword:00000000
Note, this was vital.
MS support had recommended we set this to 1, along with some other keys (InactiveGuidPrinterAge,
InactiveGuidPrinterTrim) with specific values. If we used these MS support recommended values, our RDS serer would not enumerate printers for more than 3-4 hours before requiring a restart of the spooler.
Restart the spooler
Map a printer (just to make sure it works)
Clean up the USERS\.DEFAULT\Printers key on all existing servers
There was heaps of crap here, the default user NTUSER.DAT was over 800MB in size
Modify the security on the registry, using GPO to deny SYSTEM write access as below, to stop the crap writing here again;
USERS\.DEFAULT\Printers
Deny Set value
Deny Create Subkey
Run NGREGOPT on all servers to compress the DEFAULT and SOFTWARE hives back down.
Even though we had deleted the crap from “Client Side Rendering Print Provider” and the DEFAULT user hive, the registry files were still large of course, and needed to be compressed to reduce
paged pool usage.
Note, make sure no users are on the server when this is run !
With the nightly spooler ‘refresh’ and the registry security changes, we are no longer seeing any problems.
In addition the paged pool has gone down from 5GB to 1GB – which I believe was related to the registry bloat that had occurred previously.
Cleaning up the keys and using NGREGOPT has fixed this.
In addition, I am running a spooler check script every 30 minutes on each of the 13 servers.
This script checks how long it takes to enumerate the printers for the specific test user.
If it takes more than 20 seconds, we get an alert.
Since I have made the changes above, we no longer have any printing problems… touch wood.. even using HPD 5.4 for most printers, and other (RICHO) 3<sup>rd</sup> party
drivers.

I know this question is two months old, but we had the exact same issue so I wanted to share our solution. This error is actually caused by the tightened security added by Java 6 Update 24. This update made it so that you can't use web.show_document to display local content in a web browser.
Our solution was to use webutil and have the operating system open the local files. Here's what we used:
webutil_host.nonblocking('rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler '||i_url);
If you pass in a .XLS path, it opens Excel; if you pass in a .PDF path, it opens Acrobat; etc.

PS - One more disclaimer: we did this in Forms 10.1.2.3 and have not fully tested it in Forms 11.1.2 yet.
PPS - Since you're using 64-bit Java, you'll need 64-bit webutil, which is only in Forms 11gR2 (11.1.2).

Client-side Conversion using NumberConverter and DateConverter

In our application we have a custom input text component and we are using the same component to capture date, number, currency and string values .As we are using the same component to capture date/number/string values I can't add number/date converter to it.
At run time I have to read the user entered values and need to convert them into date/ number /currency values. I am planning to use Client-side Converters to format the values.
Please let me know how make use of NumberConverter and DateConverter in java script to convert the values at client side.

ADF is providing NumberConverter / DateConverter to convert date/number/currency values. Instead of writing my own custom converters can I use the framework provided converters to convert the values at client side?

Headstart 6i installation - HTTP client side servers?

We are performing the headstart 6i client side install and are confused as to the client software requirements.
Is it necessary to install a HTTP listener on each client that is to be used for development. Or can we use the server based listener(Apache).
The installation document specifies the installation of WEB DB as an option and indicates that this is shipped with Designer 6i, however this does not appear to be contained within the Designer 6i CD's

It is not necessary to install and configure a HTTP Listener/Forms Server installation on each (developer)client. Yet it can be useful in a number of cases, for instance when your application server is Unix based.
WebDB itself is not shipped with Designer 6i, but when you install Des6i it will also install a Forms 6i runtime environment, and this will prompt you with a question whether you want to install a 'trial' version of Forms Server. The WebDB Listener service is a part of this Forms Server installation.

Problem with Client Side Validator - e.getFacesMessage is not a function

(JDeveloper 11g, TP2 and TP3)
I have created a custom validator that does server side validation as well as client side validation. It gets invoked - an alert is fired to prove that - but when validation fails, instead of the red box and error message that I was hoping for, I get a JavaScript error:
e.getFacesMessage is not a function (all-11-otn2.js (line 27600))
The getClientScript() method in the validator looks like this:

Second Client Side VLAN - CSM

Our current environment has grown to the size that a single Class C subnet on the client side of the CSM is full. We have a need to add an additional Class C subnet for the client side, but our TCOM group gave us a range which is not contiguous to the existing range and therefore cannot be added by simply changing the subnet mask (from 24 to 23).
The default route for all traffic from the CSM is an IP address on the subnet described above.
How should the new subnet be configured? I understand that there can only be one gateway on the CSM...so if traffic comes in on the second subnet, does this mean that it will go back out on the first subnet?
Does this look right

I understand what you are explaining here and believe that our current configuration is as you have explained, but need to further clarify what we have in place.
The single vlan on the client side previously had only a single class C subnet. It now has two separate Class C subnets. Traffic can reach the CSM, but never returns back to the client. When I added the configuration for the second VLAN client side and addressed it as part of the second class C address, content would now be returned to the client from the server side. But, I could not get the content to be forwarded to the SSL module which resides on a separate VLAN. I then removed client VLAN and traffic continued to flow properly (except to SSL module). I then cleared connections to the vservers (to emulate a reboot), this caused all traffic to no longer return to the client.
Below is configuration (IP addresses changed to protect the innocent).

Fetching a partial range of selected result rows from the client side

It has been a while since I started trying to solve this Oracle puzzle.
Basically, what I need it is a way to fetch from the client side a run-time
defined range of result rows of a arbitrary SELECT query.
In low-end databases like MySQL I can do it simply by appending the LIMIT
argument to the end of the SELECT query statment passing the number of
the first row that I want to be returned from the server from the total
result rows available in the result set and the maximum number of rows
that it may return if available.
In higher end databases I am supposed to use server side cursors to skip
any initial rows before the first that I want to retrieve and fetch only
the rows I want up to the given limit.
I am able to achieve this with PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL server, but I
am having a hard time with Oracle. The main problem is how do I fetch
result rows from a server side cursor and have their data returned to a
client side in a result set like in a straight SELECT query?
I was able to create a cursor and fecth a row into a server side record
variable with the following PL/SQL code.
DECLARE
CURSOR c IS SELECT * FROM my_table;
my_row c%ROWTYPE;
BEGIN
OPEN c;
FETCH c INTO my_row;
CLOSE c;
END;
I want to do this from PHP, so I don't have client side ESQL variables to
store the result set data structure. Anyway, if I can do it just with
SQLPlus I should be able to do it in PHP.
If I do straight SELECT I can get the result set, but in a PL/SQL script
like the one above I don't seem to be able to select the data in the
fetched row record to have returned to the client. Does a straight SELECT
query sends the result rows to a default client side variable?
