Selection Screen Variant of a Report program

Hi All,
I am having a F4 help to select a path of few folders and files from local drive in my report program.
After I select this path, I am saving it as a variant. But this variant will not work for the next time I login to SAP.
Please let me know what can be done.

Please check below thread for setting the varaint as a default.
How to set variant as default for report.
Or it the path is always fixed you can give it as a default valuw while declaring the parameter.

Here you've to use 'Z_HEADER_FOOTER' function module at TOP-OF-PAGE
Just pass parameters for report_name                 as repid
                                          show_select_options as 'Y'
                                          show_parameters       as 'Y'
                                          line_size                       as you wish
                                          action                           as 'X'

Auto selection of a value on selection screen field of a report program

Dear Gurus,
I have encountered a case in a report program, if i select a vendor code in selection screen, simultaneously the region code of that vendor should come automatically to the next parameter(ie region code). Is it possible..if then how?

To display the selection screen variant name in WAD report output.

Hello experts,
I have a requirement which is to display the selection screen variant description in the output of the WAD report.
I managed halfway, by using the object "Information field", which displays all the values which are selected by the variant.
Example:I have created a cost center report created using WAD, since I need some graphical displays..
In the selection screen, I have the characteristic "cost center" as input field. I have created a variant " GM - IT" which will include few cost centers managed by GM. In the output, I want the dispaly to be "Cost center - GM IT". Currently it displays "Cost Center - a,b,c,d" as the values a,b,c,d are the values from the variant name "GM-IT"
Please let me know if this required any java script. I am not familiar with java / html codes and any help would be much appreciated (and rewarded)

Hi,
Try this.
If you want to include your variables in your WAD means you have to choose "Force Variable Screen" option to be in enabled condition.
TO enable this,in WAD select your Template(New Template1) click the WEBITEM , it'll shows all generic properties , here you can enable this "Force variable screen"
Save and execute your WAD now you can get your variable screen.

Selection screen variant for report

Hi,
Can we restrict the selection screen variants for reports by user? For example my report is ZREPORT. Different users can save variants for the report. When they choose a variant for executing the report, they would like to see only the variants they created.
By default SAP lists all variants created (irrespective of who created).

Hi,
If you want the other users doesn't want to execute (Not see) other variant..you can check if that user has created the variant in the AT SELECTION-SCREEN event..
By checking VARI-VARIANT against the table VARID and check if sy-uname <> VARID-ENAME.

How to limit the creation of the selection screen variant

I have a question concerning the selection screen variants. Is it possible to limit the number of variant created by users (in customizing, authorization..) ?

Cannot be restricted during creation but you can do a program that reads the report's existing variants, delete some, or modify the variant's content, you can put that in the program itself so when executed, apply your validation, or a background job depending on your requirements.
You can do it with this function modules:
RS_ALL_VARIANTS_4_1_REPORT
RS_CHANGE_CREATED_VARIANT
RS_VARIANT_DELETE

Read the buffer in screen fields of the report program.

I have 2 screen fields in a report program. I need to do some process based on the entry in the 1 st field.
But i need press 'enter' after making an entry in the 1st field. I want to read the field dynamically. I was able to find a function module to do it 'DYNP_VALUES_READ'. In this one of the import attribute is the dyname. I give the field name of the 1st field as per its defined in the selection parameter of th report program. And when exectued the function module returns invalid dyprofield.
kindly advise on what should be the dyproname for selection parameter.

just execute the code and try to know where u r getting error in ur code .
in this just give the input as USD(us dollar)
substitute for dynname = sy-cprog in ur code and check that .

Print Selection Screen Parameters in ALV report only once

Does anyone know how to print the selection screen within a ALV report.
I've tried everything. I have the code to capture the selection parameters into a internal table. I can use top_of_page but I only want it printed once.

If you have captured the selection screen entries in an internal table, then you could display it once by using the BLOCK LIST ALV.
Check the function module.
REUSE_ALV_BLOCK_LIST_DISPLAY
Using this function module more than 1 alv could be display in the report.
In our case ..there will be two alvs ...one for the selection screen n other for the main report output.
Check the following example on the block List ALV....

Actually in report painter report selection screen order is different compare to report writer report selection screen.
how should i get the same selection screen fields order For Report painter report compare to Report Writer report ?

Go to Sq01, select the query and goto to change mode.go to the next screens till u reach Selection fields. Here u enter the NO field in the sequence which u want ot appear in the selection screen and it is done. Save and execute.
Ex:
Selection fields No
Exclude Cancelled Lots 5
Material number 1
Plant 2
Material type 3
Inspection Lot Origin 4

How to get selection screen variant name of a report ?

Hi Experts,
Can any body please suggest, how I can get the variant name that was selected when a report program was being scheduled in background?
I am using system field SY-SLSET but it is working only at foregrounf execution.In background mode it holds different value like '&0000000000038'.

When running the program in foreground (SE38 -> F8) or in a background job (SM36), sy-slrel is correctly filled.
When running in background via SE38 transaction (run in background : F9), sy-slrel is not filled correctly (&000010 for example).

Problem in multipule selection screens in a single report.

I have created one report with multiple selections screen. There i am using Layouts for each screen. The problem is whenever i press F4 in layout fields it is going to display all variants, bcoz the program name is same,so how can i segregate the variants for particular selection screen. check out the following documentation. use handle or logical group. you can provide any 4 char field to screen 1 and for screen 2 then fill the same when you press F4
A variant is identified uniquely by:
the program to which it is assigned (REPORT)
the handle if, e.g. several lists with various structures and data are called (HANDLE) in a program (I_CALLBACK_PROGRAM)
The handle is a unique user-assigned CHAR(4) field, which assigns the call to the current internal output table structure.
Example:
Various lists can be output in program x, depending on a user action.
Display variants are to be able to be defined for each of these lists.
This functionality is guaranteed by assigning a HANDLE for each list. If variants are saved for this program and handle, the handle must not change.
the logical group if, e.g. the same list is made with different settings (LOG_GROUP) via different transactions
The logical group is a unique user-assigned CHAR(4) field which determines the assignment.
Example:
The program x is called via the transactions T1 and T2. The field catalog fields offered to the user vary depending on the transaction code by assignment to logical groups.
If variants are saved for the program and logical group, the logical group must not change.
the user name, if variants are saved user-specifically (USERNAME)
This parameter is never entered manually as the variant name is unique.
the variant name (VARIANT).
This parameter is only to be entered if a particular variant is to be read and the list is to be output with this variant via this structure.

Dynamically generating selection screen variants

I have a report for which i have to create a variant. This report will be executed in background. There is a parameter Planning Date on the selection screen of this report. The format of this date is week.year i.e., ww.yyyy. Week should change automatically based on the week it is executed. For example, lets suppose that the current planning date is 19.2007. When you execute this report in the next week, the date should be 20.2007.
Please suggest me on how to do this.

Create two variants for the below program say VAR1 and VAR2.
For the variant VAR1 take the default values say 12 and 3.
and for VAR2 take the values 10 and 5.
Now execute the program by selecting the variants VAR1 and VAR2. You can see the difference.
when you select VAR1 the parameters can be seen in disable mode.
parameters: p_num1 type i default 12,
                  p_num2 type i default 3.
at selection-screen output.
if sy-slset = 'VAR1'.
loop at screen.
if screen-name = 'P_NUM1' or

How can I get selection screen values from outside of program?

Now. I'm developing moritoring systems and I have problems. for getting selection screen values in runtime. Is there any function, methods or structure to know this?
I'd like to get selection screen values while several programs working in runtime and update these values to table to show current system's status and input values for users in real time.
For example.
Now. 3 PGMs are working on systems.
each PGM is ZAAA01, ZAAA02, ZAAA03.
and ZAAA01 needs input parameter P01, ZAAA02 needs input parameter P02, ZAAA03 needs input parameter P03.
In this case, I have to know values of P01, P02 and P03.
The mornitoring systems will show current working status of PGMs(ZAAA01~03)' and these PGMs' input values.
As fas as I know, the structure 'SCREEN' can be used in each PGM for runtime. Is there any SAP system structure or something else for this purpose?

Umm..I need to explain more about this.
of course I know SET, GET PARAMETERS.
But I'd like to minimize coding for each PGM level.
I have over hundreds PGMs and I have to develop the PGM(including tables and structures) that mornitor
all of those PGMs on a report in real-time.
This PGM is kind of Process Manager.
First I should know dialogue job PGM and background job that pass parameters using SAP(ABAP) Memory.
And then I have to update those PGMs' input values via screens into tables in real-time.
So, I couldn't use SET,GET PARAMETERS for this PGM.
I want to know methods that can be used for getting information about runtime PGMs' selection screen field values in SAP systems wide.
Please help me some one knows this.

Problem WIth Variant in a report program

I have a z report program with couple of variants , the problem is the varaints display onlt name of the variant and description when the varaint button is pressed.
The changed by , date etc details are not getting displayed.

Hi Arun,
You will not get those data directly from the program execution screen. If you want to get those details, please check table VARID for that variant or program.
