Selection wheel not responding

My 1st gen Nano will turn on, but I cannot select anything via the wheel. I have tried turning the hold button on and off several times and also have held the select and menu buttons down for the 6 secs. or so several times. Upon resetting, it still won't move. Help please

By the way - how long does a full restore take if this is indicated.

  • IPod Click Wheel Not Responding to Anything

I have the iPod click wheel 40 GB and it is not responding to anything. When I hit any of the buttons, an apple appears on the screen and then changes to a picture of an iPod with a sad face and an exclamation mark. This website also appears at the bottom. I have tried all of the five Rs and the iPod is not responding to anything. The battery will not even run out. What can I do?

try dropping it or hitting it. worked for me. i was about to buy a new one and i read a forum here that had many people posting that they just gave it a good whack and worked fine again.

  • Ipod nano click wheel not responding

My daughtr's ipod nano click wheel is not responding even after
    I did the 5 r's.

Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • Why is my direct selection tool not responding?

I have Creative suit 5.5 upgraded last year but cannot use ID as a couple of the application tools including direct selection tool just dfont respond. Any ideas?

Thank you. Please see InDesign tools and panels don't respond to mouse clicks (Windows 7/Vista)
If you have large fonts enabled in Windows 7 interface customization you cannot run an Aero theme with ID. You can leave the large fonts and use a classic theme, or return the font size to normal and keep the Aero theme.

  • Ipod 1st generation click wheel not responding - won't reset - apple icon

My ipod won't reset or show up in itunes when connected.  Apple icon seems to be frozen on screen.  How can I reset it?  Help!

This is really the 1st gen iPod from 2001, with a non-touch non-click wheel that physically turns, and connects with a FireWire cable?
Make sure the Hold switch is not in the ON position?
The older iPods did a reset differently from more recent iPod that have a click wheel.  Be sure you are following the appropriate reset steps in this document, based on the actual iPod model.

If it's a 1st gen iPod, it would be How to reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector).  The buttons to press and hold are different from later iPods.

  • Scroll Wheel not responding....

I am having a problem with the scroll, it's not working at all or it is but I have to press hard rather than a light touch and it still scrolls very randomly...any help would be GREATLY appreciated...

I found another thread yesterday regarding our problem...the person wrote that they took it to an Apple store and the genius there suggested he go to www.ipodmods.com and he found that they would replace the click wheel for $60. Also another person suggested www.ipodresq.com which I am unaware of the cost through them, but I guess it's worth checking out. I hope this helps y'all out...if you hear anything different, feel free to pass along the info!
    Peace!

  • Select Directory 'Not Responding' - bug report

    Hi,
I was editing a step and realized that I needed to add another search directory.
After choosing 'Select Directory' and then 'Add...' TestStand appears to lock up.
Actually it has not really locked up, but as Filemon shows, is iterating through every directory.
After 15 minutes it finally allowed user interaction and I was able to drill down into the next folder.
However the response was still sluggish each time I opened up a new folder in my attempt to reach the final directory.
[I am still trying to get there.]
So there are times when the Select Directory function gives an abnormal behavior.

    Richard,
No, I wasn't adding C:\ to the list. However, when I 'Add...' a directory, the dialog box begins at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\National Instruments, and I then went straight to C:\ in order to then get to Program Files\IVI etc.
I agree that searches would take awhile if I had selected C:\ but I am simply trying to Add a directory.
My point was that TestStand should not be searching directories while I am just trying to add a directory to the search path.
The graphic above shows for sure that TestStand is scanning through directory structures for some reason while I am trying to do this.
This to me is odd. Why should it scan at this point?
The Search Subdirectories check box is not valid at this time because I am adding a new directory (see the above graphic).
As it happens I have not been able to reproduce the behavior I mentioned above - although it has happened to me once before.
    Thanks for your help,
    Ronnie

  • [SOLVED]xorg-server 1.14.4-1 - mouse wheel not responding while moving

I notice a relapse of the bug (https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/29191 and https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48167) since the xorg-server upgrade. Downgrade to 1.14.3-2 solves the problem. The problem is noticed in ioQuake3 engines.
    UPDATE:
The problem was relative to the mouse brand and model since other mouses didn't have issues. After a few kernel upgrades the problem went away thus I'm marking this thread SOLVED.

I've just tested some of the games that had that bug and they all seem fine so I'm thinking it's a different bug, perhaps in ioQuake3.

  • IPhoto has a color wheel immediately upon opening and does not respond. How can I fix?

I recently uploaded photos to iPhoto and after getting a non-stop color wheel for a ~400 pic upload broke it into 2. After the first of the 2 I clicked on the event to open the pics and was greeted with a color wheel and "not responding".
Ever since, whenever I open iPhoto I just get a color wheel immediately when I move the mouse.
How can I fix this without loosing my pics.
    Thank you.

    Back up all data.
Quit iPhoto if it's running. Force quit if necessary.
In the Finder, temporarily move the iPhoto library (usually located in the Pictures folder) to the Desktop. Relaunch the application. It should prompt you to select a library. Click the Create New... button. If a new, empty library is created successfully, try adding an image, such as one downloaded from the web.
After the above test, quit iPhoto again and put the original library back where it was, overwriting the test library. Post your results.

  • Click wheel is not responding

The click wheel, select button, menu button, and play buttons, are not responding on my ipod. I think it is a first generation nano, so it is pretty old but still works (or, worked) so I haven't bought a new one. And it was given to me. I tried restoring it but now it is just stuck on the language selection screen and the buttons still won't respond when I want to do something. I can reset it still, so I know that the select and menu buttons will respond when I do that, but I can't do anything else. Any suggestions?

    Hello sphipps23,
There isn't much else you can do in terms of troubleshooting at this point.  It is likely a hardware issue related to the iPod's click wheel.  You can have it serviced by Apple (for quite a cost), a third party repair company, or you can even choose to do it yourself.

  • Has anybody else been seeing (Not Responding) at the top of the screen and having thier browser not respond to wheel scrolling and scrolling with the usual slider at the right part of the screen?

I have noticed my Firefox browser is having way too many incidences where it is "Not Responding". The browser freezes up for a second quite often and the "Not Responding" message will appear at the top of the screen.
The browser will also not scroll with either the scroll bar on the right nor with the mouse wheel. Both used to work in previous versions of Firefox, but it seems to have gotten worse since Firefox 5 0r 6. The same with the "Not Responding". It is happening more with Firefox 7 than in at least the past two versions.
Anybody else having these issues? Seems like they are hand-in-hand. Thanks for any and all help or advice. It's making me pretty angry since I'm online all day for work.
Just an FYI. At the bottom of my troubleshooting copy/paste is a suggestion to update the driver for my graphics. That was a no-go. I tried that.

Thank you for this first reply! I'll have to give this a try later....the main laptop I experience this on crashed not more than an hour after I posted this issue. I'm on a tiny, slow netbook that hasn't had the same problem. Now I'm wondering if I picked up a Trojan on the main laptop and the "Not Responding" message is a side effect of a virus or Trojan.
One of the system .dll files has been corrupted and I'm not being allowed to use recovery discs, previous disc images, or any recovery options. That was an all day sucker yesterday and from what I've read on forums and have researched, it appears I'm going to need to reload the operating system. If it is indeed a Trojan/virus, I'm surprised it made it through my antivirus and firewall. Anything is possible, really.
Thanks again, I'll get back with results once I get the wounded laptop back up and running.

  • AT-MIO-16XE-50 device is not responding to the selected base address

I'm trying to install my AT-MIO-16XE-50 DAQ board onto my Windows NT desktop computer, but I'm having trouble.
Here's what I've done: I've installed LabView 5.1 and the NIDAQ 7.0 software onto my computer first. Then I've physically installed the DAQ board into my computer. After starting the computer, the plug-and-play system seems to recognize the new hardware and install drivers for it. It then says I need to reboot the computer, so I reboot the computer.
When I then look at my device manager, it lists AT-MIO-16XE-50 twice. Under the properties/resources tab, one of them lists "input/output range", "interrupt request", "direct memory access", and "direct memory access" (i.e., 2 "direct memory access"s). The second one only lists "direct memory access" once and nothing else under the properties/resources tab. Also, the first one says that it is working properly while the second one says that it is not working properly (Code 10). I've played around with chaging the "direct
memory access" numbers and after rebooting the computer have gotten both AT-MIO-16XE-50's in the device manager to say that they're working properly. So, now the DAQ board appears to be installed correctly, because the device manager reports no problems with it. However, there are still 2 of them. My first question is this: should there be only 1 entry in the device manager list, or are there supposed to be the 2 that I see? The entries do appear to be different from each other, but they're for the same device, so that's a little confusing.
When I open my Measurement and Automation explorer, only one AT-MIO-16XE-50 device is listed (so this looks good), and under "properties" all 3 "direct memory access" numbers are listed. So, this all seems good. But, when I click on "test resources" or "test panel", I get an error message saying that "the device is not responding to the selected base address". Considering that this device was plug-and-play, and I did not set the base address manually, I don't understand why I'm getting this error message.
What I've tried is to change the "input/output range" number by using the device manager. I've tried a few different settings (rebooting the computer after each change) and none of the different "input/output range" settings seem to work.
I'd appreciate it if you could give me any help on figuring out how to resolve this "not responding to base address" problem. The info on your web site
appears to suggest flipping dip-switches on the DAQ card, but my card does not have any dip switches because it is plug-and-play. So, right now I'm
clueless! Thanks for reading this, and I hope that you have more insight than I do.

    Smaria,
The AT-MIO-16XE-50 shows up twice in the Device Manager because it reserves three DMA channels, and the ISA bus only allows two DMA channels per ISA slot. You mentioned that you were able to get both devices working properly in the Device Manager. Below is a link to a KnowledgeBase that describes the proper procedure to successfully accomplish this. You should verify that this is the procedure you followed:

I've got something similar but not with a trackpad/multitouch, with any mouse, Mail does not activate if i click the Dock icon, nor inside the window, cmd-tab doesn't either. It's kind of a trick to get it active and it does this since some 10.7 update. Thought it would be solved in 10.8 no luck for me. And yes sometimes, it doesn't even fetch mail!!!

Did you reinstall CS3 after CC?
For that matter, doing an in-place upgrade on the OS is always a gamble with Adobe programs. Reinstalling all the versions you need, in order, would probably solve your problem.
And you shouldn't need to save as IDML after opening the .inx in CC.
