Send commands to COMMAND PROMPT

Hi all,
Hope someone can help me out here. I'm doing some file formating using Java and need to send this file to DOS comand prompt to call OpenLDAP commands.
i need to do the following:

i want the stream to accept input from me say c: and then it should change the dir and so on based on the list of command i listed up front. anyone please do help. and i want to be able to process and error returned from the command prompt.

All its standard io (i.e. stdin, stdout, stderr) operations will be redirected to the parent process through three streams (Process.getOutputStream(), Process.getInputStream(), Process.getErrorStream()). The parent process uses these streams to feed input to and get output from the subprocess.

    So I have this script that works perfectly for parsing out a COM number and then sending data to said COM port via the command line (things like 'ipconfig > //./COM15'). The issue is that it only works when I use the /K modifier which tells the command
    windows to stay open.  I don't want them to stay open, but whenever I remove the /K, it doesn't work. Nothing gets copied to the COM port. I suspect the cause of this is the command prompt closing before things like systeminfo can finish running. So is

    Can you help me with syntax? I'm still not hugely familiar with VB and I'm not sure how to set this up. This current iteration does not work.

    It seems somehow the command prompt are not working on my server and hence one of my software installation is failing on the server.
    it seems the CLI commands work fine when the Command prompt is executed directly from the /system32 dir. But when we use it from Start>run>cmd, the commands don't respond.
    For Example:

    According what you mentioned, I thought system can’t located command programs path when you perform this command .
    Seems that you can perform these command with assign path, what I thought is this issue occurred because wrong environment variable setting.

    in the second call to this method i pass the string "java Msgmultisendsample [email protected] abc 123.456.789.012 true" for running the Msgmultisendsample.class file. but i get the exitValue() as 1 and the command is not getting executed. i dont know how handle this change in the exitValue().
    both the above commands works fine if i run directly from C:\ but not when called to this method.
    Please help me out people, i will be glad to receieve the replies as early as possible since i have to submit this tomorrow.

    well, the problem is not with the command line arguments. it doesnt matter if we get the input from the user through command prompt or GUI. The problem is only in the handling of the change in exitValue during running.

  • Darwin/BSD Command Prompt after Logging into OSX 10.2.4

    I just installed OSX 10.2.4 and after I log in, it sends me to a black command prompt which says the following:

    If you do a search on Darwin, you will find that ther are many questions and three or four basic solutions offered, not all of which work in every case.
    In your case, since you have a new installation, I suggest that make sure you have a good backup, then reformat, zero all data, re-install the OS, and restore your data.
    To reformat, zero and re-install:
    Boot from the install CD holding down the "C" key.
    Select language
    Go to the Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
    Select Partition tab in main panel. (You are about to create a single partition volume.)
    Select 1 partion in pulldown menu above Volume diagram.
    Type in name in Name field (usually Macintosh HD)
    Select Volume Format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    Click Partition button at bottom of panel.
    Select Erase tab
    Select the Macintosh volume under Manufacturer ID.
    Select on Security Options button.
    Select Zero all data.
    (This process will map out bad blocks on your HDD. However, it could take several hours. If you want a quicker method, don't go to Security Options and just click the Erase button.)
    Quit Disk Utility.
    Open installer and begin installation process.
    Choose to Customize and deselect Foreign Language Translations and Additional Printer drivers.
    Check box to install X11.
    Proceed with installation.
    After installation computer will restart for setup.
    After setup, reboot computer.
    Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
    Select First Aid in main panel.
    Click Repair Disk Permissions.
    Connect to Internet.
    Go to Apple Menu > Software Update.
    Install all updates.
    Computer will restart after updates.
    Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
    Select First Aid in main panel.
    Click Repair Disk Permissions.

    I hope my code is readable. I am trying to get the command prompt that comes up from the Runtime.exec() to run a file called "test.txt" I know it would be easier to just do it by executing it from java but I want to see if it is possible this way. I thought the out.write would do the trick but I was wrong. Somebody help please....

    Second, you should probably send the Enter key to the shell if you want anything to happen. (Not that I know whether it will work, but I do know it won't work if you don't press Enter.)

  • Can config.bin be "restored" from a command prompt?

    After trying to find ways to configure the router using batch commands, I've realized that configuring the router with port forwarding enabled and backing up the router to config.bin, and then configuring it with port forwarding disabled and backing up the router to config.bin, I now have an ON and OFF. If there is a way to load config.bin to the router via command prompt it would achieve what I'm looking for.

    The Messenger project at Jakarta already has Producer and Consumer classes that can be run from the command line to send / receive messages via JMS. So you don't even need to write any code ;-)

  • Executing multiple command lines in command prompt (windows)

    Hi,
    I am currrently using the command prompt in the windows to try to send a command to the microcontroller that is connected through TCP connection.
    I am able to use the normal cmd.exe to send the command but am unable to send all the command successfully using labview. 
    The Vi. that I am using the the system exec.vi found in labview connectivity section. 
    Basically what I want to send is "telnet A1" in the cmd.exe to establish connection to the microcontroller, followed by "FOR A1 100 GO" which will be intepreted by the microcontroller to make the necessary motion. But currently, the problem is that I can only establish connection using the system exec.vi but am unable to send the second part of the message "FOR A1 100 GO". 
    My command line i tried typing is cme.exe /K telnet A1 & FOR A1 100 GO. it seems that labview is only able to execute the first command part. Is there any other alternatives?

    Thanks for the help, the picture shows 1 of the error which state Error 56, the error occurs occasionally whenever I have used the command prompt to send a message to the microcontroller.
    Alternatively, there are times when no errors occur but my microcontroller does not move as well. It does move if I were to send the command through the cmd prompt.
    And I have attached a picture of my program as well. I am currently using Labview 2010 32bit. Thanks.

  • Can you specify the RH version from a command prompt?

    When using command prompts to generate WebHelp output, is there a way to specify which version of Robohelp will be used?
    Here's the situation:
    We recently upgraded all of our help projects to RH8, installed RH8 on our software build server, and are now successfully using command prompts to generate RH8 output files (webhelp) during our s/w build process.
    However, since the help system for our last major release is still in RH7, we also need to be able to automatically generate output in RH7 using the same build server, which has both versions of the s/w are installed. This is in case we need to send out a patch release before our next major release becomes available.
    When we ran the build program for the last software release (the one with the RH7 help system), the command prompts now cause RH8 to run and to generate RH8 output. But since these files are still in RH7 format, the generated output has various issues with lists and templates--basically all the stuff that I spent 2-3 days fixing manually fix when upgrading to RH8.
    Anyone know how to control which Robohelp version will run when using command prompts? (using RH8 help files with the last software release is not an option--there have been too many changes).

    I have a feeling that I once tried to change the default version of RoboHelp and it wasn't successful first time. As it was not that important, I didn't poke around any more.
    Maybe you could try changing the default version but I wouldn't like to answer for any undesired results you may get. I suspect by far the easier option is to install RH7 on another machine.
    One other warning. I do recall that on one machine after uninstalling RH7, I had to reinstall RH8 as it created problems.

    I'm trying to run the discoverer report from command prompt and i need to schedule the same.
    How could i pass multiple values for the parameters?
    If i don't pass the optional parameters, the parameter screen is getting pop-up? How to skip optional parameters?
    Also, how to pass the data ranges (format for date parameters) ?

    /parameter "Observation Name" "'Abdominal Girth','Abdominal Girth2'"
    How to skip optional parameters?I don't think you can. You have to supply all parameters and then decode out the parameters you don't need in the workbook.
    how to pass the data ranges You cannot pass a date range. You can pass a start and end parameters. The default format for the date parameters is DD-MON-YYYY but this can change depending on the NLS settings and format of the data item.

    ^^It is at this command I receive this error:
    ERROR: Could not delete existing file "c:\pe\x86\iso"
    Error 5: Access is denied.
    Please note that all commands before were hand-typed, no copy or pasting from any directory or .chm
    One thread referred to some Application Management service, but I can report that there is no such service installed in my machine.

    UPDATE:
    I copied the winpe.wim file from the x86 root directory into the iso directory and renamed it to boot.wim Now, if I copy the contents to a flash drive and put it into a client
    computer, it boots to the PE perfectly, script and all.
    However, when trying to use the oscdimg command, I do get an .iso successfully, but when I burn it, I don't know what to do in the way of boot options, and if I keep defaults (imgburn)
    it results in an un-bootable dvd. 
    Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Don't copy and paste instead type manually it will work.

    OMG! Yes, you are correct ... but I have no idea why! I retyped the command line:
    oscdimg -n -be:\winpe_amd64\etfsboot.com e:\winpe_amd64\ISO e:\winpe_amd64\winpe_amd64.iso
    into Notepad, and then pasted it into the Command Prompt, and it worked!
    Perhaps there must be some hidden characters included when pasting directly, even though I first pasted the command line into Notepad, and then into Command Prompt
    (C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools>).
    I had to retype the command line in Notepad before copying and pasting, before it would work.
