Send data to another pc through TCP

Hi everyone
I have a VI running on a Touch Panel Computer that acquires and saves automatically a txt file every x minutes. Since the memory of the PC is not big, I want to send these files to another pc. I have seen some examples on the TCP/IP technique and I found an example that seems ok to my case but there are some problems.
1)  I can't connect my data to the Type Cast because it seems that the Type cast does not accept Polymorphic Data. How I can modify it?
2)  How can I modify my VI to be able to send the saved files to another pc automatically?
Thanksto everyone for the reply

Hello Matomato,
Do you have access to the internet toolkit?
I have had a look at your code and you are correct in saying
you cannot type cast the polymorphic data; you will have to extract the
individual data elements in the Y axis of the graph data. You can take these
elements and have then TCP streamed to a server, however if you wanted to transfer
a file via TCP you would have to strip down the file and send the characters
one at a time (this
would take substantially longer than FTP). I would strongly recommend if you want to send files across a
network that you use FTP (FILE transfer Protocol) rather than TCP. You could
then setup a FTP server client to which you could write your data to. I would
suggest you read the following articles and resources, and perhaps have a look
at some examples before you proceed with any file writing.
What is FTP?
FTP Basics
If you have the internet toolkit.
Example:
Open LabVIEW >> Help >> Find Examples >> Search >> FTP >> FTP Browser.vi
Let me know if this helps

  • Can a vi. send data to another .vi when ONLY the internet is between?

    I seem to have hit a hurdle.
    - I have one computer behind a Firewall at a university. This computer has a MIO-16E card in it. No administrative privileges to run datasocket server.
    - I have another computer(laptop)with an E series MIO that I have full privileges on, but project requirements only allow me to find wireless connection points so there is only the internet as a medium between the two.
    - If possible, I would like to pass a one way data stream from the university(UT).vi side to the Laptop .vi. By I could accept the dataflow in the other direction.
    Things I have tried: I can do Remote Panel where the UT machine controls the laptop (good); but, if scenario is switched, the laptop cannot use Remote Panel to control the UT .vi. Of course web browsers and User interfaces do very little for me since the DAQ and control signals will be unmanned.
    If someone has experience on how to make one .vi can send data to another .vi using just the internet, I would truly appreciate some advice. And, to be honest, I am solely a hardware individual and have not figured out how/what to setup for this experiment.
    Thanks for your time.

    If your labtop has a well known IP address/name you could always create a little TCP/IP server in LabVIEW and run it on that computer. Then have the university computer regularly try to connect to that labtop computer and on success start streaming the data you want to the server. The server then will receive the data and do something with it.
    Take a look at the VI examples in examples/comm/tcp.llb. Especially the Simple Data Client.vi and Simple Data Server.vi might be interesting for you.

  • Send data to ECC table through RFC Call function from SAP B1 via  b1if

    Hi,

  • How to send data to another site, get response, redirect and get new response

    Dear all,
    I've to write a Java EE application that have to become an interface to a payment platform. The protocol require to send a POST string containing some information (including an error and response page) to an external host, get the response and redirect the user to another host using the previous response. When the user ends the transaction the host redirect the user to my error or response page.
    For the moment my user access to my application using glassfish REALM authentication. After that I write the following code:
    public void paymentPrepare() throws UnsupportedEncodingException, IOException {
       String postUrl = "https://test.payment.test/init/http";
       HttpPost postRequest = new HttpPost(postUrl);
       String id = "99999999";
       String password = "99999999";
       String action = "4";
       String amt = "1.00";
       String currencycode = "978";
       String langid = "ENG";
       String responseurl = "http://myhost:8080/EMBOWorkshop/secure/response.xhtml";
       String errorurl = "http://myhost:8080/EMBOWorkshop/secure/error.xhtml";
      trackid = "TRCK0001";
      udf1 = "Descrizione";
       StringEntity postParamsEntity = new StringEntity("id=" + id
       + "&password=" + password
       + "&action=" + action
       + "&amt=" + amt
       + "&currencycode=" + currencycode
       + "&langid=" + langid
       + "&responseurl=" + responseurl
       + "&errorurl" + errorurl
       + "&trackid" + trackid
       + "&udf1" + udf1);
      postParamsEntity.setContentType("application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
      postRequest.setEntity(postParamsEntity);
       DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
       // Execute the HTTP POST
       System.out.println("Executing HTTP Post...\n");
       HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(postRequest);
       // Check the HTTP status of the post.
       if (response.getStatusLine().getStatusCode() != 200 && response.getStatusLine().getStatusCode() != 201) {
       throw new RuntimeException("Failed: HTTP error code: "
       + response.getStatusLine().getStatusCode());
       // Create a reader to read in the HTTP post results.
       BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(
       new InputStreamReader((response.getEntity().getContent())));
       // Read in all of the post results into a String.
       String output = "";
       Boolean keepGoing = true;
       while (keepGoing) {
       String currentLine = br.readLine();
       if (currentLine ==
    null) {
      keepGoing = false;
       } else {
      output += currentLine;
       System.out.println("Raw string result: \n" + output);
    The previous code works fine. I receive the response. But now I don't know how to continue. How can redirect the user to another site, and when the payment is finished, receive the response? Another question is, the user authenticate himself to access to the application. When the user will redirect to an external site, the glassfish session permits to get the response from the other host without require a new authentication?
    For the moment I don't know how to redirect the user, but I tried to write this method to obtain the last response:
      public void getResponse(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) {
      paymentId = request.getParameter("paymentid");
      result = request.getParameter("result");
      auth = request.getParameter("auth");
       ref = request.getParameter("ref");
      traind = request.getParameter("tranid");
      trackid = request.getParameter("trackid");
      udf1 = request.getParameter("udf1");
      responsecode = request.getParameter("responsecode");
    Is it correct?
    Thanks

    Now I'm able to redirect the user to the other page:
    ExternalContext externalContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext();
    externalContext.redirect("http://stackoverflow.com");
    Now the problem is: once the user has finished to pay, the other site redirect the user to my site using one of the two JSF page I prepared for error or response like the following:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?>
    <!DOCTYPE composition PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

            </center>
      </ui:define>
    </ui:composition>
    So, how can I get the GET parameters that the other host sent to me during the redirection?

  • How many RA, ID, RD needed to send date from 1 to 2 bs?

    Hi PI Experts,
    How many receiver agreements,interface determination, receiver determination needed to send a single file to 2 business systems.
    I was able to send data to the 1st business system but unable to send data to another business system and the error is saying that cannot create receiver agreement and communication channel.
    please help me out as i am new to sap pi.

    How many receiver agreements,interface determination, receiver determination needed to send a single file to 2 business systems.
    as per my knowledge , one receiver agreements,interface determination and  receiver determination it's enough if we want to send data based on codition in receiver determination.
    if u want to send same data to 2 receiver at a time.
    u need to create multi mapping(1 :n)in esr and
    need to create 2 interface determinations and 2 receiver agreements  for 2 receiver comm.channels
    I was able to send data to the 1st business system but unable to send data to another business system and the error is saying that cannot create receiver agreement and communication channel.
    yes , only one agreement support to one comm.channel.

  • I want to send data from One server to another

    Hi all,
    My requirement to send data from one server's  application server path(data in one directory in Al11 of the source server) to another server's application server(TO another directory in Al11 transaction of the destination server).
    What are all the ways to achieve this task.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Raja

    While the FTP option mentioned above is workable, both servers should have some form of FTP service running with reference to this solution.
    I suggest two more options, just to give you an idea. I am not getting into details as it is important to get the big picture first before working on details.
    1: Through RFC destinations:
    You can define two RFc destinations, each pointing to the specific application server. Assuming the server names are SOURCE and TARGET, you can have two RFC destinations where you differentiate the servers by specifying the host name or IP address.
    Once the destinations are defined, you need to develop two RFC enabled function module, one will be used to read the file and return it in form of internal table. The other will be get the internal table as input and should save it on server (using abap commands open dataset etc.)
    Now you can have an ABAP program where you first call the function which is reading the file. In call function you mention the RFC destination of source server.
    Once the file is read, you than call the second function module with destination to target server and save the internal table to a file.
    2: Through Background job programming
    While scheduling a background job, you can specify target system which forces the background job to run on that target application server. The basic idea here is to have two abap programs, one would be used to read file and export it to database table like INDX (we can call it ZPRG1), the other will import from the table INDX and write it as a file (we can call it ZPRG2).
    Now you can define a job through SM36, using ZPRG1 as program, and target system as the first application server. This job you can schedule to run periodically.
    Also define a second job through SM36, using ZPRG2 as program and target system as the second application server. For this job, the starting condition you can put as ‘After completion of job1’.
    Another method one can be by using FMs used in tcode SM49 but for that I think your sysadmin might have to create a batch file/script first. Which you can later call from ABAP.
    Cheers.

  • Passing data through TCP/IP

    Hello ! My challenge is this: I have a vi that i have to use as a server and a vi as a client. In the server vi, i want to modify multiple parameters of one graph and these modifications should reflect on the client vi. How can i transmit, through TCP/IP, the modified graph to the client vi/application ? I would appreciate very much a link or a example vi that can show me exactly how such an opperation can be achieved. Thank you!

    You can make the string you pass include any data.  Here is a simple example using an XML string.
    <Graph>
    <Value>1,2,3,4,5,6</Value>
    <Visible>True<\Visible>
    </Graph>
    Send this string on the server side taking a reference to a graph and build a simple vi to generate a string containing  the data you want to send.
    At the client side you parse this string an a loop as set the appropriate property node as the tag dictates.
    I cant think of a precanned solution for this but my morning coffee has not kicked in yet.

  • Flatten to string for sending through TCP/IP contains CRLF characters

    Hi,
    I'm using a 'flatten to string' function to send some data through TCP/IP.
    To minimise delays, I use the CRLF mode so that the receive function returns as soon as it receives a CRLF sequence (termination character).
    I noted that every now and then only part of the data is transmitted because the flattened string itself sometimes (albeit rarely) contains CRLF characters.
    I was wondering if this is correct behaviour, or if I'm missing something.I expected flatten to string to produce pure ASCII strings without special characters.
    Now I first have to scan the string and replace possible CRLF characters by some known series of characters and do the opposite on the receiving side, and hope that this particular sequence never occurs.
    Any comment is appreciated,

    Hi,

    Make sure you are consistent with the format for the number of butes. That is, always use an 8, 16 or 32 bit value. Which one you use is up to you and will depend on the size of your data. A 32 bit value is the most common size to use. Anyway what I am basically saying is that if you are inconsistent with what size number you use for the size you will get inconsistent results when you read the data since you will be interpretting the size incorrectly some of the time.

    Hi,
    check this link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/21/e9c97ceb1911d6b2ea00508b6b8a93/content.htm
    this is for processing inbound IDOc through XML-HTTP(Inbound) port
    like this there should be an option for reading files placed by HTTP_POST.
    in SICF transaction there should be a service to do that.
    defaulthost -> sap-> xi-> adapter_plain. i know you don't have XI in your landscape but this is the component which be responsble for receving messages over HTTP_POST.
    look for a program which can access messages from there.

  • Sending file through TCP/IP

    Hi all,
    I would like to know whether LabVIEW is able to send file through TCP/IP. Can anyone please enlighten me on this. Thank You
    Rgds

    Hi taytay,
    Of course it is possible !
    Go to function palette >> Communication >> TCP ; I have never used them but here they are.
    Go to Help >> Find examples.. and search for TCP, you'll find example code
    You can also purchase the "internet toolkit" that provide ready to use FTP VIs to send or copy simple/multiple file(s).
    Hope this helps.

  • Tranfering data to LabVIEW through TCP/IP

    Dear all,
    Hello! I am a new LabVIEW user. What i am trying to do is to transfer
    data from one computer running a commercial package, to a remote
    computer running LabViEW, through TCP/IP. To do that i developed a
    simple LabVIEW code, which establishes a connection first and then
    tries to read data. The connection seems to work, but i get no data.
    After the first TCPread i placed an indicator, to check if data is
    transfered, where i am getting the message "nect"...any ideas on what
    this could mean?
    Any help would be more than welcome!Thank you in advance!

    I don't think we have enough information to troubleshoot this issue from your description, because there is a nearly infinite number of possibilities to "transfer data via TCP/IP". What kind of "commercial software" is the server you are trying to contact? Is it LabVIEW based? What are the specifications to transfer the data? Are you trying to use low-level TCP or e.g. datasocket?

  • Is it possible to create a virtual TCP port and send data to it?

    Is it possible to create a virtual TCP port and send data to it?
    My application is this:   I am reading a constant stream of waveform data from a device via a LabVIEW VI set and I need to get that streaming data to a .NET application.  I can poll a TCP port in .NET easily so is there a way I can create a virtual TCP port in LabVIEW and send the data there?

    Have a look at the example called simple data server and simple data client and see what you can get from that. I'm not really familiar with TCP myself.
