Sender File Conversion

Hi guys,
I'm having quite a hard time in mapping a Text File into XI XML structure.
I've the following structure:
mtTest
RECORD (0....unbounded)
   DATA ( 1 )
     ROW (0 ...unbounded)
and a text file:
015007V30147425    0018002               20071215
015007V30157077    0018002               20071215
015007V30144521    0019267               20071107
015007V30150817    0019267               20071207
I've read some blogs related this particular question and there's one which caught my attention, "Generic Sender File CC Adapter". It's really similar, except the output.
With the Sender file adapter configs as follows:
RecordSetName: RECORD
RecordSetStructure: DATA, 1
Properties:
DATA.fieldSeparator 'nl'
DATA.keyFieldValue *
DATA.fieldNames ROW
DATA.endSeparator 'nl'
I was expecting a message with one record "RECORD", one "DATA" and several "ROW".
Instead, I have one "RECORD" and one DATA/one ROW for each line. Meaning 4 DATA/ROWS instead of one DATA/four Rows.
Can you help on that?

Hi VJ,
But then I'm obliged to place:
Mandatory parameter 'ROW.fieldNames': no value found
and I don't have no more fields in ROW, because ROW is a string...
Do you have any ideas?

    Well Christian,
    There is one thing, eithere you can use fieldSeparator or fieldFixedLengths you can not use both together. So in your case do not use fieldSeparator.
    The complete FCC is almost same as given in the blog in my previous reply. See the final output in that blog and create your data type accordingly. e.g.
    Recordset
    ------Item 0...unbound
    --------Field1 0..1
    --------Field2 0..1
    --------Field3 0..1
    --------Field8 0..1

  • Sender File Adapter - Content Conversion

    HI Friends,
    I got a scenario where I need to convert the File to XML document through Sender file adapter..
    My file looks like below.
    BATCH1234........
    12DASER123142JMM
    237DSAFDLKC839890
    45SDFLASJ90011

    SD21352525
    BATCH998898...
    123145DSRTW
    12FSTS
    So there is a Header and Body for each record set..
    My XML Structure is as follows.
    <TimeStructure>
      <TimeRecord>
         <ControlRec>
             <Field1>BATCH </Field1>
             <Field2> ...</Field2>
         </ControlRec>
         <DataRec>
             <F1> ...... </F1>
             <F2> ...... </F2>
         </DataRec>
      </TimeRecord>
      <TimeRecord>
         <ControlRec>
             <Field1> BATCH  </Field1>
             <Field2> ADFAS  </Field2>
         </ControlRec>
         <DataRec>
             <F1> ...... </F1>
             <F2> ...... </F2>
         </DataRec>
       </TimeRecord>
    </TimeStructure>
    The blog <a href="/people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/02/27/content-conversion-the-key-field-problem:///people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/02/27/content-conversion-the-key-field-problem
    is somewhat relevant to my requirement.
    But the problem is I have the keyfield "BATCH" for my header file but don't have any <b>key field in the data record</b> of the input file.
    Please help me out how to mention the configuration parameters.
    Regards,
    Kumar

    Hi,
    If you don't have constant key value for your detail records, then you can not directly get the required xml.
    So in this case, you can read all the records in a common Row model, i.e each record will be considered as a one row with all the values, and then split this row with Substring or java functions in the mapping.
    Even you can do this in the Adapter module .
    If you have key value for each record to identify then you can try with content conversion.

  • Sender File Content Conversion

    I am using the file content conversion in sender file adapter with fieldFixedLengths parameter in recordset structure. This work fine when the columns in row is exactly with the length set in the parameter recordset. But in same cases, the row in the file has less columns, which occurs errors. If I use the parameter fixedLengthTooShortHandling usage by the receiver file adapter, will it work for the file sender?

    Hi Elton,
    The parameter fixedLengthTooShortHandling is not a part of the Sender File Adapter's content conversion paramteters, So i guess it will not work for the sender file adapter.
    I would suggest that you try it anyways, and if it does work, then it means that this field has been forgotten in the help documentation

  • Error sender file content conversion

    HI all,
    when an error occurs during the conversion of the file content in sender adapter the others files put in dicrectory is not processed.
    I know that exists one parameter in Sender File Adapter that is possible to specify the directory to archive the file with error, but in what SP it is possible?
    I have the XI SP15 and this feature is not present.
    How I do to instruct the XI to process the nexts files?

  • Sender File Adapter with file conversion

    Hi guys,
    I’m using a Sender File adapter with file conversion. The message to be processed has a structure with fixed lengths and in your content are some values that needs to be ignored.
    An example:
    value1  <b>value2</b>  value3…
    I want to ignore <b>value 2</b> but I can’t find a parameter for that! Do I need to define dummy fields on my data type and ignore those fields during mapping? Or there is a specific parameter for that?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo.

    hi,
    there always is another way:)
    you can import the whole line to one field
    and cut it inside the adapter module
    (then you can define start and stop of the substring that you need to use)
    but of course it's not standard even though it's quite easy to achieve in java

    #EMESS=0+
    In above txt file there are 3 lines.
    1st line starts with #SMESS
    2nd line starts with COPS
    3rd line starts with #EMESS.
    In 2nd line, if u observe there are 3 lines separating by +. My task is, I have to spilt the 2nd line into 3 lines using + separator.
    I already used the xx.endSeparator as '+' to spilt the line but it is not working....

    Ansh

    Ansh,
    .lastFieldsOptional  is obselete and you cannot use. Please see sap help:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2c/181077dd7d6b4ea6a8029b20bf7e55/content.htm
    The best thing comes to my mind is use:
    .keepIncompleteFields as YES
    Also give a try with:
    .missingLastfields as add
    So with this I think your last line in the file will read into XI. But the value of last line is **EOF**. So the length is 9. Since your the first two fixed lengths are 6 and 8. You will have these values as ***EOF and ***. So while mapping you can use doesnot satrt with * and map it, so that your last line will be ignored.
    Note: with this apporach you have to make sure your first two columns never start with *. If you have a doubt then you can use the condition doesnot equal to ***EOF for first field and doesnot equal to *** for the second field when you map. I hope it makes sense to you.

  • Need Help in Sender File Content Conversion

    Hi All,
    I request your expert advice on Sender File content Conversion. I need to process the below pasted file. I was able to achieve this by keeping a offset of 6 in Sender PI File Adapter (PI 7.1) to ignore first 6 lines and used a Unix script to remove last line"END OF REPORT".
    Now my new requirement is I need to capture the date "DECEMBER 2009" from line 3. How can I do this. I have set offset as 6 so Adapter will start processing from line 7. If I don't set offset Interface fails. Please suggest. Thank you.

  • Problem in message mapping due to file sender content conversion

    Hi all
    basically i m using file sender content conversion and couldn't make file in a proper nested structure where weight was the nested field of detail as there is a limitation of content conversion in file adapter:
    My file came out like this:
    <header>
    </header>
    <Detail>
    </Detail>
    <Weight>
    </Weight>
    <Weight>
    </Weight>
    <Detail>
    </Detail>
    <Weight>
    </Weight>
    <Weight>
    </Weight>
    <trailer>
    </trailer>
    and i wanted it like:
    <header>
    </header>
    <Detail>
    <Weight>
    </Weight>
    <Weight>
    </Weight>
    </Detail>
    <Detail>
    <Weight>
    </Weight>
    <Weight>
    </Weight>
    </Detail>
    <trailer>
    </trailer>
    so now the problem is i want to generate an idoc from it....but theres no way out to determine which weight is related to what detail except that the weight related to detail 1 comes after start and end of detail 1 tag and then weights of second detail comes after start and end of detail 2 tag in my source xml file.
    The structure of the target idoc is
    <header>
    </header>
    <Detail>
    <Weight>
    <flag>D1</flag>
    </Weight>
    <Weight>
    <flag>D1</flag>
    </Weight>
    </Detail>
    <Detail>
    <Weight>
    <flag>D2</flag>
    </Weight>
    <Weight>
    <flag>D2</flag>
    </Weight>
    </Detail>
    <trailer>
    </trailer>
    so i was wondering if i can make a user defined function in which i feed detail and weight and result a flag d1/ d2 inside the tag field. My logic is smth like
    while detail is 1 make all the tag weights coming after detail 1 inside <detail1> tag then resultlist.CC for context change  then while detail is 2 make a loop to fill the weight coming after detail 2 inside the <detail2>
    Is this possible by any means. I really need help
    Thnks

  • Sender File Adapter - File Content Conversion

    Hello,
    i do have a problem with the file content conversion at the sender file adapter.
    I have configured the file content conversion with key field defined
    keyfield: key
    recordsetstructure is set as head,1,item,*
    head.fieldSeparator  |
    head.beginSeparator  |
    head.endSeparator  |
    head.keyFieldValue  H
    head.fieldNames  key,....
    item.fieldSeparator  |
    item.beginSeparator  |
    item.endSeparator  |
    item.keyFieldValue I
    item.fieldNames  key,....
    When i run it like this it will not read since it has a problem to identify the key fields.
    When ever i change the whole logic to be not based on fieldseparator but on fixed length, everything is working perfectly fine.
    but this unfortuantly doesn't help as i have no fixed structure for the rest of the fields.
    also when i change the recordsetstructure to head,1,item,1 my file is also processed correctly, of corse only for the first line, it at least tells me that the file structure is correctly defined.
    Can anyone help why the identification for the keyfields doesn't work with field names and separator but in the same set up with fixed lengths ?
    thanks a lot

    Hello All,
    thanks for the helpful answers.
    So i tried Jayan tip and removed the begin Separter.
    Unfortuantly my file is really looking like this |H|...|...| for the header record
    and for the item record |I|...|...| ( this was an" I" like in Item ...
    In my opinion this means i really do have a begin seperator which is the same like the field separator.
    When i removed it from both the file and the config it started to work.
    So i wrote an java function which will trow away the first digit in this case and integrated it in my szenario.
    So that when this file is read there is no | as a begin flag anymore.
    And the whole thing starts to work, this sounds more like a bug then a feature but anyway i am happy.
    so thanks a lot
    Tina

  • File sender content conversion

    hello
    I have a txt file sender content conversion in SAP PI.
    I define in the content conversion 6 fields names(field1, field2, field3,field4,field5,field 6) but the fie that I am loading has only three field(field1,field2,field3). the file is still loading though there is a different in the structure between what I define in the PI to what is loading to the PI.
    is there a way to send an error with out loading the file?
    I read about the count function in the mapping. isnt there a build in function that suppose to load only the structure that is define?
    Thanks
    Kfir

    If you define 6 fields and only 3 are present in the test file then you wont get an error (AFAIK)
    However, if you define 3 fields and there are 6 present in the source file then you will get an error saying more number of parameters found.
    isnt there a build in function that suppose to load only the structure that is define?
    I dont think so....this may however be achieved using a custom adapter module.
    Update:
    Just remembered that SAP PI (7.1 and above) comes with inbuilt XML-validation function....check if that helps in your design.
    Regards,
    Abhishek.
