Sending automatic mail using JSP or Servlet

hello,
i was just wondering if anyone out there knows how can automatically send emails to client from my application after receiving thier email address. the email address is received from a form and i want my application to automatically send a structured email to the client as soon as they click the send button. i am using JSP and tomcat as my server. any help will be appreciated

You must create a class that sends the mail:
A code example would be like this:
import javax.mail.Message;
import javax.mail.MessagingException;
import javax.mail.Session;
import javax.mail.Transport;
import javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress;
import javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage;
import java.util.*;
public class MailSender {
     public void postMail(String smtpsrv, String recipients[], String subject,
               String message, String from) throws MessagingException {
          boolean debug = false;
          //Set the host smtp address
          Properties props = new Properties();
          props.put("mail.smtp.host", smtpsrv);
          // create some properties and get the default Session
          Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null);
          session.setDebug(debug);
          // create a message
          Message msg = new MimeMessage(session);
          // set the from and to address
          InternetAddress addressFrom = new InternetAddress(from);
          msg.setFrom(addressFrom);
          InternetAddress[] addressTo = new InternetAddress[recipients.length];
          for (int i = 0; i < recipients.length; i++) {
               addressTo[i] = new InternetAddress(recipients);
          msg.setRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO, addressTo);
          // Setting the Subject and Content Type
          msg.setSubject(subject);
          msg.setContent(message, "text/html;charset=utf-8");
          Transport.send(msg);
You 'll find out that its easy to understand the code.
I advise you not to change this code.
I also include an example of how to right the JSP code:
<%
MailSender MS = new MailSender();
try {
     MS.postMail(server, recipient,"Your E-mail Title", "BODY content", from);
     } catch (MessagingException e1) {
                    e1.printStackTrace();
%>
This JSP code follows the pattern of the above class
Hope to help you
Cheers!!!

  • Using javamail to send automatic mails to an smtp server

    hello every body
    i'm trying to develop an application which will be implemented in a entreprise network (it's a project for my studies).
    this application will be web oriented and will consist on sending automatic mails to persons using the mail server of the entreprise.
    so i don't really know how to act, because i have to test my application by simulating the use of the mail server and i don't know how tu use a mail server for that, neither how to define the sender (because the operation will be automatic by a program), in other terms, i'm trying to send mail in a local network wich is connected to the internet.
    thanks for ur answers

    You can find "simulated" mail servers, good for
    testing, but it's probably not worth the effort.
    Just use your real mail server.
    Best would be to create an email address on your
    local mail server and use that as the From address
    for your automated mails.
    Don't forget to read the JavaMail FAQ.

  • Automatic mail in JSP with attachment

    I am having a problem in my project regarding Automatic mail.
    I have a form in which a user enters his details.
    as soon as user submits the form the entries should be stored in the database and an automatic mail should be send to the administrator(any email ID ) regarding the details of this new user with an attachment that user will select in the form.after tht i have to show a page to the user with a refID corresponding to his entries in the database.this refid is a column in the database (auto integer).
    i have developed the form and have done the DB part ( storing and retrieving the refID) . but i am not able to do the automatic email part.
    I have got form in JSP, its action which stores the data and the output page showing the refid bothin JSPs.i have a Sendmail.java file which can be used for sending automatic mail.but hv no idea how to do this.
    plz help

    Uh, you already have everything you need, but you don't know how to call your own code or something?
    If you didn't know this already, the JavaMail package can be used to send mails using Java. Search for a tutorial using google.

  • How can i upload a image file to server by using jsp or servlet.

    Hi,
    I m gurumoorthy. how can i upload a image file to server by using jsp or servlet without using third party API. pls anyone send me atleast outline of the source code.
    Pls send me anyone.
    Regards,
    Gurumoorthy.

    I'm not an applet programmer so I can't give you much advice there.
    If you want to stream the file from the server before it's entirely uploaded, then I don't believe you can treat it like a normal file. If you're just wanting to throw it up there and then listen to it, then you can treat it like a normal file.
    But again, I'm not entirely certain. You might be able to stream the start of the file from the server while you're still uploading the end of it, but it probably depends on what method you're using to do the transfer.

  • How to bypass proxy when trying to send a mail using javamail smtp

    Hi,
    I am trying to make a servlet send a mail using javamail smtp protocol on port 25 but i m not able to send getting an exception, i suspect proxy is blocking, so any idea anyone how bypass a proxy.

    And if it does turn out that there's a proxy server blocking access to your target SMTP server, the best way to deal with that is to discuss the issue with the person responsible for your network configuration.

  • Sending e-mail using utl_smtp on oracle 9i

    Hello
    I have problem with sending e-mails using utl_smtp package.
    My code looks like this:
    lv_mail_conn := utl_smtp.open_connection(lv_mailhost_txt);
    utl_smtp.ehlo(lv_mail_conn, lv_mailhost_txt);
    res :=     utl_smtp.command(lv_mail_conn, 'AUTH LOGIN');
    res := utl_smtp.command(lv_mail_conn, <login in base64>);
    res := utl_smtp.command(lv_mail_conn, <password in base64>);
    And I get en error after sending a password to SMTP server.
    Error code: 535, text: 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful.
    This happens on oracle 9i.
    I have another server for testing which has oracle 10g installed. This code works fine on oracle 10g but doesn't work on oracle 9i.
    Do you have any ideas what's wrong? I assume that SMTP server (microsoft exchange) work correctlys because I can send e-mail from test server.

    Ok problem solved :)
    Problem was between oracle and MS exchange server. Live server oracle 9i is on linux, and testing server works on windows.
    So the problem was with configuration. Our admins corrected it and now works :). I don't know details.

  • Sending e-mail using Mail on a new AT&T modem

    Since installing a new AT&T (Motorola) DSL modem, I cannot send e-mail using Apple Mail. AT&T tells me that it is a known issue with Apple, and that they will put me on "the list" for Apple to contact me. Has anyone gotten any satisfaction on this issue? Thank you.

    I have experience the same email-related problem on both my new MacBook Pro and my iPod Touch.
    - There are also times when I will start one or the other device and get a message on the screen that reads, in effect, that another device is using the connection and cannot connect the second. (I thought mutliple devices could use the connection at the same time as long as they had the router's password.)
    - In addition, the connection will frequently disconnect, and I have to restart the modem to reconnect.
    - I have recently installed an Apple Airport Express router (which works just fine), and subsequently had to replace the modem. That's when the troubles started.

  • Should I use JSP,JSTL,SERVLETs without a framework?

    Hi Guys
    I'm making a multi player browser game. The game will have some forms to setup data into the database and the player will be able to check other players data.
    I will load the players data from the DB into a Bean when the application starts and then just get the other players information from DB when and if asked.
    I'm planing on doing it as MVC2 using JSP, JSTL, SERVLETs, BEANs
    Would you recommend me to use Struts for example? should I just use it without any framework?
    I read a lot about Struts and can't really see what it can bring to an application like mine. I can use the i18n easily with JSTL and for few validation of forms I don't know if it's worth it.
    What do you think? (-:
    Thanks in advance
    (-:

    If your going to use MVC2 then I would use a framework, otherwise where are you going to get your MVC from, were you planning on writing an MVC yourself?
