Sending email from HTMLDB - what happens after submit?

I have read the "How To" document on sending email from HTMLDB but it is very vague on what is suppose to happen after submitting the process. After I submit the process that calls HTMLDB_MAIL.SEND, how do I track down what is suppose to happen? How do I debug it? All it mentions is that the job is stored in a queue somewhere until DBMS_JOB pushes the queue? Which USER_JOBS table am I suppose to see the job in? What is the job suppose to look like? How do I know the email has been sent? How do I check that the mail is posted correctly each time? Where do error messages go if the email is not sent? Where is there doco on changing the SMTP_HOST_ADDRESS and PORT settings?

You can call
HTMLDB_MAIL.PUSH_QUEUE('smtpservername,port);
after sending your mail.Is there an easy way to call HTMLDB_MAIL.PUSH_QUEUE and get it to use the SMTP parameters defined for the HTMLDB installation, rather than having to specify them again in the code.
The DBMS_JOB entry used to push the mail uses:
wwv_flow_platform.get_preference('SMTP_HOST_ADDRESS')
but this is not a public package.
Thanks

  • Suddenly can't send email... what happened?

Using Mail on Leopard. I can receive email just fine. But sending it...
    I get the error:
"Cannot send message using the server (my server name)
The server “mail.mydomain.com” rejected the address “[email protected]”.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
Sending from: My Name <[email protected]>"
I've never seen the "rejected the address" before. And doing a search on Discussions turned up ZERO threads.
    Any ideas? Please help!
    Cheers.

I was having lots of problems yesterday with Mail. First it was my .mac mailbox then my 2 gmail accounts. I went into one of the gmail accounts and it was not set to 'imap' which is how mine is set up. Everything has worked fine for weeks, and all of a sudden settings are changed. Preferences are not being saved either - I'm having to reset them a couple of times a day and I'm sure to check the 'save' box too. Why would a setting in gmail settings change? It seems that gmail and 'mobile me' don't get along either! I ended up deleting both gmail imap accounts, and recreating them. So far, they have worked today just fine, but folders keep appearing and disappearing in the mail client. Earlier today the 'reminders' folder was there - now it's gone. Not that I use it, but that's another example of the inconsistency we're experiencing right now.

  • HT1430 Hello, email settings correct, can not send emails from the ipad,

****, I HAVE ENTERED ALL MY EMAIL SETTINGS CORECTLY INTO MY IPAD FROM MY EMAIL ACCOUNT ON MY PC AND I CANNOT SEND EMAILS FROM IPAD  , WHAT AM I DOING WRONG CAN YOU HELP PLEASE

it could be one of many reasons, is it giving you a reason why it is not sending emails?
I know you said everything is the same as your PC email settings, but I would double check, also the iPad will tend to default to IMAP, so if you are using POP3 for your email, you may need to change the settings on the mail server. For example Gmail default to POP3 and needs IMAP turning on.
What email account are you using? Who is it with?

  • On 3G we cannot send emails from either our iPhones or iPad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all.  Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Email account.  What is causing this and what do we need to do to resolve it?

On 3G we cannot send  Business emails from either our iPhones or Ipad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all.  Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Account using both 3G and WiFi.
We bought the iPhones and Ipad so that we could send emails while we are out of the Office, but we are not able to do this unless we can find a WiFi connection. Incoming emails are fine.  We use IMAP, for Business emails just incase this is relevant and I know that Hotmail is POP3.
Our technical IT knowledge is not great, so we look forward to your suggestions as to how to resolve this.

Contact whomever supports the email account and get the correct Outgoing email server settings from them.

  • TS3276 I can receive emails, but I cannot send emails. This just started happening. I have an iPhone and I can send emails from my phone fine. It's just not working on my Macbook. Every time I try to send an email it goes straight to my outbox. Can anyone

I can receive emails, but I cannot send emails. This just started happening. I have an iPhone and I can send emails from my phone fine. It's just not working on my Macbook. Every time I try to send an email it goes straight to my outbox. Can anyone help?

Thank you for heading me in the right direction.  I reset my Mail account for Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net:(customer ID)@att.net (instead of smtp.att.yahoo.com, per Apple's online troubleshooting information).   I'm not sure what "(Offline)" means when it appears at the end of my Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)??  In the Advanced box I clicked on "Use custom port:  465" and checked "Use Secure Sockets Layer."  Authentication:  Password; I have correct User Name and Password put in.  After doing all this, when I try to send emails again today, they go directly to the Outbox and sit there.
What's curious is that my first sent email this morning did go out using the Outgoing Mail Server, smtp.att.yahoo.com: (customer ID)@att.net(Offline) but subsequent emails I tried to send with this server were rejected with the message:  "Cannot send message using the server smtp.att.yahoo.com (etc.).  The SMTP server doesn't support TLS(SSL) on port 587.  Verify your account settings and try again."  That's when I tried resetting my Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net (etc.), as mentioned above, and was unsuccessful in sending out any further emails.  I guess my next step is to contact my email service provider, AT&T, and see if they can help me.  Thanks, again, for taking the time to respond and for giving me your input!  Much appreciated!

  • I have an Imac, OS 10.6.8.  For the last few months I cannot send email from my computer.  I have called my ISP numerous times and they can't help. WHAT is wrong??

I have not been able to send email from my computer for several months.  I have called my ISP numerous times and they can't or won't help.  Out of the blue something will send that has been in my outbox for days.  A new email address worked briefly but now does not. What is happening here???  Can this be fixed and how?

The red dots mean that you were unable to connect to the server, either because it's unreachable or because your credentials were rejected. The daisy wheels mean that the server is taking too long to respond.
Click the Show Detail button in the window, then click Check Again. Post the details shown.

"Your email account" means to tap on the name of your email account. Whatever it is listed as in the settings.
In my mail settings, one of my email accounts is a Comcast account. I tap on the Comcast name and it brings up this window.
Then I tap on the arrow under the Outgoing mail server smtp setting to get to the next window.
In the resulting window, I then tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Primary Server setting.
That brings up this window in which I check to make sure that my user name and password have been entered correctly. If those items are missing, enter them in the appropriate fields and then tap done.

I can't send email from my iPad. I am from Australia but on holidays in Greece. Does anyone know what is the smtp outserver for Greece that I should use?

As you haven't told us who your email provider is, no.
There isn't an SMTP server for Greece - it is either provided by your email provider, or the Internet provider you are connected through.

  • What is a SiM card and do I need one in order to send email from my iPad?

What is a SIM card and do I need one in order to be able to send email from my iPad?

For further detail, a SIM card is a very small, thin, printed circuit card which you insert into a tiny drawer in your mobile device. It is your mobile/cellular account, with your personal details on it. So you can move it from one device to another. Before smartphones (like the iPhone), SIM cards also contained your Contact list. Since smartphones contain so much information now, the SIM card just identifies you to the cellular/mobile network. It means you can carry your phone number with you from one phone to another.
You can get a SIM card for iPad from any Apple Store or phone shop. Note that the newer iPhones and the iPads use what's called a "micro-SIM", which is smaller than a regular SIM card, so it takes up less room inside the phone, and they can stick more hardware in there for better performance. Make sure you ask for a "micro-SIM for iPad".
As Rudegar says, you don't need a SIM in your iPad if you always have WiFi access. But if you need to send email or messages outside a WiFi network, then you need a SIM, so you can access the cellular/mobile phone tower network.
You can get prepaid SIM cards which give you so much data for a certain period of time. You need to decide how much data you need, and how often you want to "recharge" it. The salespeople should be able to help you work that out.

  • I cannot forward or send emails from my ipod this has just recently happened. Used to work before ok

i cannot forward or send emails from my ipod this has just recently happened. Used to work before ok

Do you have more than one mail account on the iPod?  For out-going mail, the Mail app will first use the outgoing server associated with the account and then go to the out-goings servers for other accounts.  To check go to Settings>Mail..>Outgoing Mail Server SMTP.  Some providers do not allow mail to be send for other than the from that providers mail address.  (e.h.,can' send AOL mail via a Hotmail outgoing server).
To me is sounds ilke the APL outgoing server is not on line. Also try resetting the iPod, nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Bug: Failure to Send emails from Contacts after 8.2 update

After updating to iOS 8.2 sending emails from Contacts may fail.  I can consistently get the following failure on multiple iPad/iPhone devices:
Open Contacts, select any contact with a valid email address field, select the email address, and a “New Message” window will open.  Type in any subject and the “Send” text will turn blue – this is as it should be. Select “Cancel”, “Delete Draft”.
Return to Contacts.  Once again, select any contact with a valid email address field, select the email address, and a “New Message” window will open. Enter any “Subject” text.  The “Send” text will never turn blue and you will never be able to send an email from the Contacts.
The only way to once again send an email from Contacts is to end the email app.
This problem did not occur before iOS 8.2.

Others have seen it an reported as well.
