Sending email with a different "from" addresss

I have several email addresses that I use to send emails out. I noticed that when I want to send an email out under a specific email address I can't use any of my addresses and have to use the one that email is set up under. Is there any way to be able to select the email address you want to send it out "from".
I have two smtp addresses set up and am using one of them. The email always goes out "from" that smtp's email address. It seems that the outgoing email "from" address has to always be the smtp you use for "outgoing mail" setup. Any way to have multiple "from email" addresses on the ipad like you can on the iMac?

To enable sending from multiple accounts, you either need to have multiple accounts set up on the iPad, or be using MobileMe Aliases. If you have multiple email accounts set up, you just tap on the sender address, opening up a series of fields, where you can tap the sender again and choose the account you want to use. They do each need their own SMTP servers, AFAIK.

I have an email account that forwards to my mac.com account, and on my iPhone I have it set up to sync mail with that MobileMe account. Push is working fine and I can send and receive email.
What I'd like to do, though, is set it so by default my outgoing email uses my other email address, not my mac.com address. Ideally, people wouldn't have to know about my mac.com account at all. I can do this on the Mac by setting email addresses in the settings, but can't figure out how to do it on the iPhone.
I'm aware that I could set it up to check the first account directly, but I prefer forwarding that mail to the mac.com account so I get the syncing and push that's available there and not with a regular IMAP account.
Is there any way to do this?

Hello,
There seems to be a big difference in sending group mails with maverick. I use groups so that individual addresses don't show up. But with maverick a had a realy bad supprise seeing all of the addresses expanded in the mail I send.
I checked the preferences and the option "when sending to a group show all memeber addresses" isn't checked but they show up anyway. I tested with a small group and there seems to be now way to avoid it.
This is realy embarassing and I'm very ashamed that I send a message that way to numerous professional contacts.
Please correct this bug fast........ since mail isn't usable in a professional setting this way.

[HELP] Send email with attachment files from application server

How can i send email to users with pdf/xls attachment files through job with pl/sql , but the files are on application server.
I've tried using UTL_MAIL but it's not working, cause the file & DIRectory setting should be inside of database server. Should I copy the files from report server to database file system or any other techniques so there's no need to use the physical files?

I've tried the java send mail suggest by alvinder, and i got an error if i fill the Sender parameter with AutoMail :

nested exception is:
javax.mail.MessagingException: 553 5.5.4 <AutoMail>... Domain name required
Then i changed the Sender with valid email address :
status:1 javax.mail.SendFailedException: Sending failed;
nested exception is:
javax.mail.MessagingException: 501 5.1.8 Domain of sender address [email protected] does not exist
What could be wrong with this? Please help me... since i dont understand java programming :)

Sending email with excel attachment from an ABAP report

I am using the function module SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 to send an e-mail with an excel attachment.
The code works fine for less than 255 characters in each row of excel file.But for more than 255 characters , the excel file received has data upto 255 characters only.
Can someone please suggest how to send excel file with more than 255 characters in each row ?

I have 2 email accounts the second one i have only recently added, i have sent one email from my second account but i cant seem to send anymore, it says "cant send email with selected server" i am still able to send emails from my first account. Any ideas

I can't answer your Thunderbird "configuration" questions, because I'm in the living room, using the crap Vista laptop, on which I plan to install Thunderbird, and then take Windoze Mail out in the street and drive over it a few times.. I'll get back to you one way or the other, and let you know if your instructions solved the problem, or not..
I don't understand why Thunderbird "out of the box", so to speak, simply doesn't forward HTML emails with embedded graphics, (like Outlook Excess, and Winblows Mail do).. without having to go through those steps. I personally HATE HTML email, but over the years, it's become more and more prevelant.. so it's a problem I must fix..

i found out how to do this finally!
1) set up google gmail account to forward your emails to (from the [email protected])
2) go to your gmail account
3) go to settings (cog in right hand corner)
4) go to 'accounts and import'
5) go to 'send mail as'
6) click 'Add another email address you own' - add your [email protected] address
7) google will send a verification email with code to that email address.
8) enter code
9) go back to gmail account >'send mail as' and select 'make default'
10) close mac 'mail' program and reopen it.
as long as you have gmail account selected as the primary account in MAIL - mail will now come throught as being sent from that [email protected] address!!

Google reads your emails, in case you did not know that. Unless you are sending an email containing content Google can extract and add to its vast database of personal information, Google has no use for it.
Google Mail is becoming progressively useless. It won't accept .zip attachments, at least not the last time I tried, it will eventually prevent you from using an email client unless you visit their web mail interface, and it will disable your account if you attempt to log in from someplace Google deems is not where Google thinks you ought to be.
Gmail is worth every cent you paid.
Get rid of MacKeeper. It is capable of doing nothing beneficial and will only cause problems.

Just upload the document from the desktop and attach it to your e-mail. There are thousands of posts on this forum about sending e-mails and document attchments - what exactly are you stuck on? Is it getting the the path to the Desktop without the user picking the location? Why is that difficult?

That happens at times. Don't know why. Just delete the email in the drafts folder, as long as you are sure it was sent (check the sent folder). I've wondered whether it's a timing issue.

Ah, I should have made that clear. My domain didn't come from google. It was purchased at and is hosted at dreamhost, but I haven't used their email servers in years - I just route everything through gmail. I actually have a bunch of domains (with websites).
Gmail has an option that lets someone with custom domains send (and receive) email through gmail using the custom domain once Google confirms proper ownership of the domain (to prevent spammers and such). Gmail has a setting for "send email as" which allows gmail to be sent using a custom domain as the sender. I'm pretty sure Apple's old mobileme had this feature too, but I didn't use it.
