Sending variable information at run of applet
Hello,
I've just recently begun programming with Java so please be gentle. I am somewhat familiar with coding PHP and my question is somewhat relative to this.
In an applet a parameter is set in the HTML code as:
<param name="this" value="blah">
How do I make the value of this parameter dynamic instead of static? Here is an example in PHP:
User clicks on a link that sends them to www.mysite.com/movie.php?value=blah.wmv
movie.php page would open and automatically fill in the variable of value to blah.wmv
How is something like this accomplished with Java?

I have recently ran through the ExceptionHandling sample project, and I am attempting to extend it slightly.
I have created a Business Exception object called Test_Exception. Within this exception object, I have created three attributes: id, activity, message. The idea behind these properties is that I can set their values when an exception is thrown. I also created a notifyException method that I use to send this information to someone who is charged with investigating/handling these exceptions.
I have a Process Exception flow that looks like this: Process Exceptions >> Notify Exception Handler >> Exception Review. The transition to, "Notify Exception Handler," references my Test_Exception object. The variable that will hold the exception is the default, "exceptionHolder."
So I have some code in an Automatic activity that looks like this:

Send language information to ocx client
We are running a java application server. One of the client is a c++ client (ocx). We need to send send language information to the client so it startes up with the right language defined from the server.
Should the language information be stored in xml format and send through http (HTTP-response) or web-service? What do you use?

Send message to parent html upon applet close
Hi,
I have an jsp page with applet included in the page. However, the applet opens as a separate frame.
The applet has the functionality of capturing a photo from a camera connected to the computer and then displaying the captured photo back to the jsp to be displayed.
I have tried the following approaches and found them working -
1. After capturing photo , save it as a physical file.
However, I want to be able to send a 'signal' to the jsp page that photo has been captured, so that the jsp can refresh itself with the capture photo.

Send graph information to RS232
Hello, i found example "serial" in CVI example databse.
i have RS232 comport with loopback (i connected pin 2 to pin 3 on the serial port.)
I want to mod this program to send not text from the box, but send graph information to RS232, then get that information and plot the same graph with that information. (so there will be 2 graphs)
Things that i done so far:
Made a graph, now graph can generate a signal, but now im stuck on how to send it. Any tips?
i got few errors:

The errors you are founding depend on how you manipulated the example you started from: specifically, you cannot operate on a graph the same way you operate on a textbox (the original control): if you right-click on a control (e.g. the graph control on your panel) and select "Control help" from the context menu the online help will open on the specific page for the control; selecting Graph control attributes" you'll see the list of available attributes that can be manipulated for the given control; an attribute not included in that list will generate the error you are finding.
Given this, which exactly is the problem you want to solve? Sending an image of the graph or sending the raw data? Whichever is the case, you'll need to write a receiver program that reads data back from the serial port and shows them, but it will be different in either case.
It is normally better to send the raw data rather than the graph image: from the original data you can rebuild the graph but you can also perform some more operation like for example extracting a portion for a more detailed examination.
Since you are generating data inside the program you can write them down in a string (sprintf) and send the string over the serial channel like in the example you are starting from. The reciever will read the string and extract values with sscanf. If you are not likely to have the data available in memory in the sending routine you can retrieve them from the graph with GetPlotAttribute using ATTR_PLOT_XDATA and ATTR_PLOT_YDATA attributes. See the online help for those attributes to understand how to use them.
One last hint: when attaching code to a message you do not need to add neither cvibuild folder nor .cdb and .exe files: those elements are rebuilt when you run the project and are a waste in forum space.

Error 1047 in LabVIEW 8.2: LabVIEW failed to send variable to the script server. Server:""
I am working with the evaluation version of labVIEW as well and I have run into another error. I am using a MATLAB script node within a for loop and attempting to pass the for loop counter variable into the script. When I run the code it brings up a 1047 error and says "LabVIEW failed to send variable to the script server. Server:"" ". I looked up the error online which seems to have roots in a failed auto initialization of MATLAB. Is there something that I can do in labVIEW to fix the problem or is it strictly a MATLAB error?

Send variables between ICM scripts
Hi,
It is a UCCE environment with CVP.
I have Post Call Survey configured and running.
In the CVP survey script, I don't want the caller to select again the language.
Is there a way to send variables between ICM scripts so the language selected in the first CVP script will be sent to ICM script1 then ICM script2 then CVP script2?

I still have an issue with the above. In the initial CVP script the customer can choose to listen to announcements without the need to be transferred to an agent. In this case, the Survey script is launched but the call variables are not populated and the language is showing as Null in the log which is causing a bad fetch error.
Kindly, is there a workaround?

NoClassDefFoundError when trying to run an applet
Hi,
I'm new to java and am having a problem when I try to run an applet. It compiles OK, but when I try to run it using the appletviewer the console window shows this message:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloApplet (wrong name: fund2/lesson1/HelloApplet)
The last bit (fund2/lesson1) is the last bit of the path to the HelloApplet.
and the applet window shows:

The code for the applet is:

Debbie-LeighThe H1 tag wouldn't appear in the applet anyway. It would appear in the HTML page itself. I think the appletviewer may ignore all non-applet markup though.
The ".class" shouldn't be in the HTML. The code attribute refers to a class name, not the file name of the class. However I get the impression that the appletviewer and a lot of browsers just ignore the ".class", even though it's technically incorrect.
I believe that the object tag doesn't take a code attribute. The code attribute is used in the applet tag. I suspect that's your problem. Look up and read the docs on this site re: proper use of the applet or object or embed or whatever the hell the tag you're supposed to use is, for details. I may be and probably am misremembering. -

Could you post the code where you invoke the Applet? It sounds like you're saying you're trying to run the Applet as part of your server-side code. The other interpretation is that you are simply accessing the Applet through the browser that happens to be on the machine being used as the server.
Like I say, post the code that shows how you're trying to use the Applet "on the server". -
Why cant i run my applet on JRE 1.6 but on JRE 1.5?

I know this is a very basic problem, but i still cannot get a justified answer for this problem. Its like i have an applet which is compiled in JDk j2sdk1.4.2_16. Now when i try to run this applet on my IE under jre 1.5.* family on all the client machines it works fine. But when i switch to jre 1.6.* family, i see the applet being displayed, but i cannot perform any operations on it i no mouse clicks work and i cannot open any file menu or my jdialog boxes.
Is it because of the incompatibilities in jre 1.6, but wont it be backward compatible to that older version applets can run on this new jre. My applet seems to be a simple applet,with only one exception that it has lot of jframes and jpanel in it.
This problem is killing me ..
Can someone point me towards where can i find what all changes are made in JRE 1.6 over JRE 1.5 so that atleast i can compare what is causing my applet freeze in JRE 1.6.
i went through the release notes but cant find anything useful there.
Please help.Sun ensures that newer versions of the JRE are backward compatible. Your applet should work under the newest JRE version. Have you tried running the applet in a different browser (e.g., Firefox) with JRE 1.6 to eliminate it being an IE issue?
