Why cant i run my applet on JRE 1.6 but on JRE 1.5?

Hello,
I know this is a very basic problem, but i still cannot get a justified answer for this problem. Its like i have an applet which is compiled in JDk j2sdk1.4.2_16. Now when i try to run this applet on my IE under jre 1.5.* family on all the client machines it works fine. But when i switch to jre 1.6.* family, i see the applet being displayed, but i cannot perform any operations on it i no mouse clicks work and i cannot open any file menu or my jdialog boxes.
Is it because of the incompatibilities in jre 1.6, but wont it be backward compatible to that older version applets can run on this new jre. My applet seems to be a simple applet,with only one exception that it has lot of jframes and jpanel in it.
This problem is killing me ..
Can someone point me towards where can i find what all changes are made in JRE 1.6 over JRE 1.5 so that atleast i can compare what is causing my applet freeze in JRE 1.6.
i went through the release notes but cant find anything useful there.

Sun ensures that newer versions of the JRE are backward compatible. Your applet should work under the newest JRE version. Have you tried running the applet in a different browser (e.g., Firefox) with JRE 1.6 to eliminate it being an IE issue?

Applet runs with jre 1.5 but not jre 1.6

I'm working on an applet which works just fine when 1.5.0_15 is the latest JRE installed on the PC, but does not work when 1.6.0_6 is installed. In the latter case, the applet does not load due to getting a NoClassDefFoundError. Here's the Java Console error trace:

</object>The class it can't seem to find (under 1.6) is actually located in the configapi.jar file, which itself is located in the ../lib folder (relative to the /HSC/configurator folder where configurator.jar is located).
Obviously, when the browser is using JRE 1.5.15 the VM engine can find all the needed classes as the applet runs OK. But when 1.6.6 is installed, things can't be found. I suspect something different in the search paths (though I thought the "java_archive" value was supposed to specify that), in the permissions needed to read the files, or something, but I just can't track down what the difference is (and thus why things are failing with 1.6 installed).
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Then download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here,don't install it just yet:

Then disconnect from Internet (just for your safety).
Then temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and/or any other anti-malware real-time protection (that's why I ask you to disconnect from Internet).
Then try installing and running MBAM again (any real-time protection could have tried to stop MBAM installation; that's why it was turned off in previous step).

I can hear that frustration for sure. I deal with it every day.
I would continue to push the landline provider over and over and over. They provide you with the landline service. They cannot complete the call to your cell phone. Everyone else can. Therefore it is their responsibility to make it work or at least give you a reasonable detailed explanation as to why it doesn't work so you could at least take the next appropriate steps. Do you have a trouble ticket number with the landline provider? Make sure they give you a trouble ticket number if you don't. Without a trouble ticket number you will have to continually repeat yourself every time you call them. With a ticket number every time you call you could tell the technician to reference that ticket number.
Like I said when you're talking with someone in a managerial position request that they do call traces while you are making the call from the landline in real time. They should be able to see what happens to the call as it comes into and leaves their network. If they give you any call clearing or failure codes please document them and repeat them here.
I would also ask the Rep to also make a test call to your cell phone and see what happens. If they can and you can't then it is clearly a problem with a switch on their network.

Some times a disk permisions run will fix this. If the account that you can log onto is an admin you can go to Utilities -> disk utility. Select your disk on the left. Normally named Macintosh HD. click on the first aid tab and then run disk permisions repair.

Why i cannot run future depreciations at present?

I have capitalized an asset on 30th december 2008 and the next depreciation for this asset is in jan 2009. its using straight line method.
however when i tried to run a depreciation on 2nd jan 2009 for the period 1 and financial year 2009, the system says could not find data agrees with the selection made.
does this mean i have to wait till end of january to post the first depreciation? why cant i run the depreciation for jan 2009 in 2nd jan itself?

Beside the layout button there is a Files button - Click Files Button
Go to EDIT>SELECT ALL
Control Right click - Extract from Portfolio
Save files in a new folder.

NoClassDefFoundError when trying to run an applet

Hi,
I'm new to java and am having a problem when I try to run an applet. It compiles OK, but when I try to run it using the appletviewer the console window shows this message:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloApplet (wrong name: fund2/lesson1/HelloApplet)
The last bit (fund2/lesson1) is the last bit of the path to the HelloApplet.
and the applet window shows:
Start: applet not initialized
The code for the applet is:

The H1 tag wouldn't appear in the applet anyway. It would appear in the HTML page itself. I think the appletviewer may ignore all non-applet markup though.
The ".class" shouldn't be in the HTML. The code attribute refers to a class name, not the file name of the class. However I get the impression that the appletviewer and a lot of browsers just ignore the ".class", even though it's technically incorrect.
I believe that the object tag doesn't take a code attribute. The code attribute is used in the applet tag. I suspect that's your problem. Look up and read the docs on this site re: proper use of the applet or object or embed or whatever the hell the tag you're supposed to use is, for details. I may be and probably am misremembering.

Run Java Applet w/o installing JRE

Hi all,
I'm wondering what would allow the client to run the java applet w/o having to install the JRE? I have seen it done but not sure how they did it. I wrote a simple java applet (not even JApplet) and IE said "class not found" until I installed the JRE on that machine. Any tips? Thanks so much in advance.

Looking at your sample, I would say this could run in the old JVM.
You might simply be having problems with the JVM finding your classes - I believe this is specified in the HTML (but its been too long for me to give details).
Also, your Internet Explorer could be looking for a plug-in JVM (I believe this is specified in Tools-Internet Options-Advance menu).
And finally, Windows (XP?) may not have this JVM built in anymore - never could figure out the outcome of the law suite.
Hopefully someone with more recent Applet experience will chime in.

So, I will simply paste the answer.
Windows NT error #5 is ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED. I'd suggest you look
at who ownership and protection of the exes and dlls in your
installation of jdeveloper.
You saved my life!
I have no idea, what happened with my NT setup, I did a normal
setup, there is only one user for the NT, with admin rights.
Anyhow, I'm not an NT expert and it seemed to be quite
difficult to find the offending files with wrong permissions.
So I took the lazy solution, selected JDev home directory and
changed the permission of all files and all subdirectories to

Why does running an applet within a portlet not work?

I have an applet and I want to run this in a portlet.
I tried to load this applet into a portlet with SunONE Studio and Portlet Builder, and it works. The applet is running without problems.
Now I tried to run this applet in a portlet under WebLogic 8.1 SP3. But the applet doesn't load. There ist only a gray rectangle to see. No error message, which would help to find the problem.
To load the applet I'm using the Applet tag as follows:
<APPLET archive='"+request.getContextPath()+"/folder/myApplet.jar' code='source/applet/myapp.class' ></APPLET>
It's the same, I am using with SunOne Studio and there is the same package/directory structure in both.
Any ideas?
