Separate Analog Input/Output Tasks for Multiple USB-Daq 6008

Hello, In my application I'm using two separate USB-6008 DAQ devices, they are to be used simultaneously,
i.e both tasks will start in a same loop, there are both writing to some channels and sampling some data from
some channels, the problem is, when I'm trying to define a task, via Daqmx base Configuration Utility, I
sucseed at defining the task, for the first Device, but unable to define nearly same task but for the
different Device, since the OK button is grayed out (Disable).
I'm using Labview 7.1 and a NI-Daqmx base ver. 2.0

Actually it is not the easiest to use the full version of daqmx is easier, It is also very easy to set this up in MAX (measurement and automation explorer) What version of labview are you using. have you made sure that the device is recognised in MAX and that the device number is correct. i have a couple of 6008 and have run them alot without any trouble so it must be the way you have things setup. Could you post a section of the code that gives you the error. also try running each device in max with the test panels for each one and see if it works there.

2. Yes these lead types are user specific. first two lead transaction types will be seen by User A , and Lead Type 3 will be seen to User B.

How do I update a program written for a Legacy DAQ into one for a USB DAQ?

I am trying to rewrite a program, replacing all of the AI Waveform Scan and AO Update Channel VIs in it with DAQmx VIs. This seems to be the only way for the USB DAQ to respond to the program and not get any errors. I was just hoping for some help in how to replace those VIs with updated DAQmx ones. Attached is the part of the program that I am working on. There is a slight error because of some changes I have made, but the gist of the program is still there.

What I would suggest is that in either your init state or outside the loop, create two separate tasks for the analog in and the analog out. This means using separate DAQmx Create Channel, DAQmx Timing, DAQmx Start Task, etc. Then, you would have the tasks in your shift registers and pass just the appropriate task to either a DAQmx Write or DAQmx Read. No need to pass channel or device. In the End state, you would add a DAQmx Clear Task for each.

How to synchronize analog input and output from two different USB daq boards

I have two very differnt USB boards the NI USB 6008, which I am using to acquire the data (Analog Input) and a NI USB 9263, it is an Analog Output only board that I am using to deliver a signal (in this case a square pulse). The reason why I am not using the 6008 Analog Ouputs is because I need to deliver negative voltages and need the full +/-10V range.
Looking at similar posts I am pretty sure that I can't use an external trigger or a shared clock, I also tried to use the synchronization of timed structures but no cigar.
I am including a quick vi that I whipped out showing how the signal jitters due to the lack of synchronization. The AO from the 9263 connects to the AI in the 6008 in this example.

Analog Audio Output Jack for Digital Speakers with same jack configuration

I just purchased my first Mac, a Mac Pro. I can't get sound to my speakers using the analog out jack. With my old PC, there was a setting for "digital output" even though the digital speakers were attached via to the same style jack as the Mac's analog out jack. I've tried going to preferences but don't see a like setting for digital output. Is there a setting to do so and if not, is there an adapter to convert the Mac's digital audio out to the analog jack style?

Do you want digital or analog? Your question seems to imply that you have speakers that accept a digital signal but you also say you want analog...??
Anyway, my Mac Pro (2006 model) has separate analog and optical digital outputs on the back. The pictures on the apple website still show the same thing on the Mac Pro so I'm guessing it's the same. I think only the Mac laptops have the analog/optical digital combo jacks...
The optical digital outputs are the little white squarish ports beneath the rear firewire ports.
The MacPro does not have a SPDIF RCA style output. Maybe that is what you are thinking of from the windoze pc...
You should be able to enable the rear analog line output or the digital outputs from the System Preferences > Sound > Output screen. The front headphone outputs kind of act weird in that they disable the rear line output (if I remember correctly, I never use the front port...).

Input / Output error for new HDD on MacBook Pro 5.5

I have a problem with a MacBook Pro 5.5 Intel Core 2 Duo
Original Fujitsu 160GB HDD crashed and I replaced it with a Hitachi 250GB HDD.
Hitachi 250GB drive is partitioned to GUID Partition Scheme but when I try to format the drive in Disk Utility to Mac OS X Extended Journaled, I keep receiving an Input / Output error. I tried even erasing the drive and I get the same error.
I also tried using Diskutil in terminal window and I get Input / Output error.
I talked with a guy in work who knows about the Mac and he said the drive could be locked in which the Mac can't unlock to format the drive.
There is nothing wrong with the drive at all. It works perfect. I'm at a loss as to why the Mac won't install the OS X 10.5.7
I've looked at many Mac support sites for problems / solution but no solution
Could someone who has experienced this before please help to resolve my problem.

Hi there,
An update on the MacBook Pro 5.5 problem.
Mac OS X seems to only install when the HDD is connected to the laptop as a USB drive.
When I put the drive back into the laptop, it won't boot to the OS.
The mount is /volume/Macintosh_HD.
I even tried reformatting the drive but got an error that it could not unmount the drive. I tried a force unmount which worked but the drive disappeared from the disk utility.
My only way to get the drive back was to connect it again as a USB drive and again I was able to install the OS again.
Can some help to resolve the problem. How can I make the drive boot to the OS when it is connected as an internal drive

One SendMail task for multiple sequence containers

Hi,
Quick question, hope someone can help.
I have multiple sequence containers in my package. I only want to have one sendmail task for the failure/completion of the package. If I put the sendmail task in the last sequence container and the first seqence fails, the sendmail task will
not be reached and therefore, no email will be sent out.
Is there a way to have one sendmail task for all the sequence containers and allow it to send mail regardless of what sequence fails/completes?

Hi,
Just as Visakh suggested, we can use Event Handlers with Send Mail Task when an error or a warning occurs or when a task fails in the package. For more details, please refer to the following steps:
Go to Event Handlers tab, choose OnError in the Event handler drop-down list.
Drag a Send Mail Task.
Configure SmtpConnection and other details except MessageSource.
Go to Expressions tab and then expand this, then click on browse button this will open Expressions designer.
Choose MessageSource under Property window and then again.
Click on browse button this will open the second editor, the Expression Builder.
Then substitute values in Expression window like below:

Query - Sharing single Input/output FRS across multiple CMS Cluster

Hi,
I have two BOE XI R2 SP3 servers on windows 2003r2 x64 which are with one BOE clustered, sharing file repository (FRS) on common NAS storage folders. Objective is to vertically scale BOE servers by adding more clusters on these two BOE servers. I wish to add few more clusters by adding CMS through CCM wizard option pointing to separate CMS db sachems.
Can multiple CMS cluster share same FRS component with separate folder structure OR do I have to duplicate each BOE component per cluster basis.

Hardware allocated for BOE is only 2 servers, and design is to maintain 3 separate environments( One change should not affect other). We wish to share Production, Testing and support BOE environments on same hardware.
Only objective of maintaining multiple BOE cluster on same hardware is to provide non inter dependent BOE service to various user groups.

Actions creating task for multiple partner functions

Hello Masters,
Need help in below scenario.
We are using actions in quotations. Different actions gets triggered as per status of quotation.
ex: Status: manger approval request: Task to be create with action for manager
Status: Manger approved: Task to be created with action for Sales employee.
I have configured action profile. My actions are partner function dependent.
Partner functions are different for manager and sales employee.
But when action is getting triggered it is creating task for both partner functions.
How can I avoid this? Does though we say action is pertner function dependent is it true or it is actually partner function catagory dependant. In my case partner function category is same for manager and sales employee. The partner function category is "Employee"

Hi Kushal,
The partner function category is same - employee and hence it is triggering actions at the same time.
You may have to see if you can assign a separate partner function category to meet your requirement.

I don' Know the input/output range for my AT-MIO-16L-9 card.

I did'nt have any problem, but sudenly my computer does not recognize my device. When I run the Ni-Daq recognition utility I don't Know what to put into the input/output range, I also have Windows NT 4.0

Safe Output Rating for 240V USB adapter to charge my IPod Touch4.

Is it safe to use a 240V USB adapter I have for my camera that has an Output rating of 4.4V 400mA to charge my new IPod Touch4? I note that similar comercial (non Apple) products that claim to be compatible with the IPod Touch4 have a rating of 5V 1A. I would be grateful for any advice on this subject.

I have to say that the likelyhood anyone being able to "confirm" almost anything on a public forum is remote.
I can tell you though;
a lower voltage than the one required will not damage an iPod. However, a lower voltage may not provide enough "energy" (voltage potential, or EMF) to push the current around the circuit. So it wouldn't work.
A higher voltage than the one required could possibly burn the electronics inside the iPod. One completely broken iPod.
A charger that does not provide enough current may either charge slowly or not at all. I still believe 400mA is not enough, especially if it has a low output voltage as well.
The iPod should draw only the current it requires, so one that supplies more than enough current will not damage it. However, personally, I would not use a charger that supplied (for example) 2400mA, with an iPod.
Considering the cost of your iPod, isn't it wiser to spend a little money now, on either an Apple charger or at the very least, a proper 5 volt USB charger that supplies more than enough current (the mA), rather than coughing up for a new iPod because the charger you used damaged the iPod?
Actually, two questions you can answer, which might help.
What make is this camera charger anyway?
Does it have a recognised (proper) USB output connection?
You say that you have three opposing views. In fact, all three of us are effectively saying don't use this charger. Perhaps we have confused you by trying to explain it.

Synchronized capture for multiple USB cameras

I need to capture images from 8 USB cameras at the same time. I don't need to continuously acquire images (just one set every few seconds), but I need the 8 cameras to capture at very close to the same exact time. Just testing with two cameras at the moment, and one camera always seems to capture about 0.4 seconds after the other. Attached is the current VI I'm testing with.
Any idea how to speed this up? I thought having both grab.vi's in a separate frame would help make them occur at the same time, but it's still a lot slower than I hoped for. Thanks for any suggestions.

All depends from precision. 100 ms is not bad result. For better precision I would like to suggest to use cams with external triggers. The cameras with USB interface are also available, for example:

Otherwise they may be incompatible with IMAQdx (the only DirectShow compliant cameras are supported). Point Gray Chameleon seems to be DirectShow compatible.

Input/output sound for MacBook Pro 10.6.8

The sound is not working properly for my narrated powerpoint presentation. I have recorded it on my MacBook Pro 10.6.8 and I get some sound but it sounds like feedback or something (like a scary phantom voice). I am using the internal microphone and internal speakers. I have checked the sound volume and speech recognition and have calibrated this. I am using powerpoint for Mac 2011 v. 14.4.1. What's happening?

If your computer shipped with Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, it'll have come with a DVD. If needed, phone Apple and order a replacement.
Unless you got Mac OS X Server with it, which is highly unlikely for a portable computer, that DVD will contain iLife.

Is is possible to sync. RS 232 with USB DAQ 6008? i have a GPS mouse and i am woundering whether i could, physically wire each individual ports of RS 232 (output port) with NI USB DAQ 6008 and read the data in labview. thankyou.

Yes if the baud rate is low enough for the 6008. Rember there is about 11 bits per byte (start data parity stop) and you want to over-sample at a factor of 10 or for each bits cell time.
Converting the data stream to something that can be aprsed wll be like designing a chip for serial. THen you have to pars the data.
It will be an excellent learning adventure so have fun.
If this is not jus to learn something, I'd suugest you look into purchasing a widget that will give you GPS sync'd time pulses.
