Separate bullets linked to audio files

Gang,
I'm creating a presentation that has text bullets transitioning in on each slide and I'd like to have an audio file trigger for each bullet that appears, all in sync.
- Bullet One Appears and audio file plays
- Bullet Two Appears and audio file plays
- Bullet Three....
Slide dissolves in build and audio file plays. Does KN2.0.2 do this? Does 3? I can't seem to get 2 to do it, not sure if I should upgrade? Any other ways to do this with say iMovie?
B&W G3, 2Ghz G5, lots of other stuff...   Mac OS X (10.3.6)

Brian -
That's really helpful...and I'll prob. buy 3 soon. BUT, I was trying something else which might work similarly. Can I use iMovie (with the exported QT movie of the Keynote show) and lay an audio track over that movie? I don't know iMovie that well, but my first pass at it has me bufuddled.
This may have to continue in the iMovie disc. Thoughts?

  • How do I export separate really short wav. audio files?

Hey, I'm having a big problem with the exporting procedure using wav. audio files. For my editing project, a client asked me to export separate wav. audio file from a large audio sequence about a live auction, and he will use each 'bet' audio files for his website. For example, he wants each 'bet' that the auctioneer says to be put as separate wav file, so I cut each number individually with '1', '2', '3', '4', so on and so forth. However, when I'm trying to export each wav audio file for each number, all it came up with is general error message. Is it too short? If so, how do I export really short wav. audio clip? I'm really behind schedule and I don't think there's much of an alternative to send separate short audio files over to his e-mail. Let me know if I'm not making it clear.

I record voice tracks for slide shows that are online training packages that require WAV files.
Here's what I do. It's tedious but the workflow guarantees accuracy and repeatability.
    Ingest.
Create master sequence of audio-only. Edit out bad takes. Using blade tool, slice track into separate sections for each slide. Make aditional edits in each slide's segment to take out bad takes, flubs.
    Save early, save often.
    Select all, adjust levels.
Select all, make independent clip. This step is crucial.
Back in browser, I create a new sequence and call it slide_01 and open the sequence. I go back to the Master, select one at a time the clips that are used for slide_01, use properties and rename them slide_01a, slide_01b, slide_01c. Copy them and paste them into the slide_01 sequence.
Repeat for every slide in the show, sometimes there are forty of the little basterds.
When I'm all done, I select all fo the slide sequences and use batch export.
Making the clips independent means they can be easily edited without referring to the original media. Using batch export means they allgo to the same location with the same settings.

  • Bug in 5.1: cant open links to audio files in Safari anymore.

Before, if click a link to an mp3 file in safari it would play it with the quicktime. After upgrade to 5.1 i see just a black page for about 30s (even no usual "downloading" wheel in upper corner), and then nothing. Connecting via 3G, but as said, before the update the same links were working fine.
    please fix!

Please post the link to the mp3 file or detailed steps on how to get to the link in Safari.

  • One Audio File, Multiple Slides

Is it possible in Keynote for an audio file to play through x amount of slides w/o stopping and restarting like in powerpoint. I know you can just use timeing and put stuff all on the same slide but w/ 100+ pics that is not the easiest way to go. Not sure if this helps but the whole show is automated, so there is no user interaction required.
    Thanks!

It isn't possible to have an audio file play across a subset of a presentation's slides -- it either has to be set for the entire presentation, or set on a per-slide basis.
If the presentation is just photos, and the presentation is non-interactive, iPhoto's slideshow capabilities or iMovie may offer more flexibility. Even if the presentation isn't just photos, you could export the KN slides as images, then import them into iPhoto or iMovie.
If the presentation were interactive, you could create separate presentations for each audio file, and then link them with hyperlinks, but this would require user interaction.

  • Problems with Firefox 13. Can't see online audio file player. Video only works on some sites. All works OK in I.E. Updated Flash. No Change

Problems began when Firefox 13 automatically updated. tried downloading latest version of Flash 11.2.202.235. No change.
Video works sometimes on YouTube, not at all on most other sites.
Audio player not working at all. Either not even visible or downloads to real player versus playing within application such as Amazon.
Tried enabling/disabling Add ons to find culprit. No luck.
Everything as it should be in Internet Explorer.
On my WordPress site has MP3 audio files, and uses a flashplayer to display and play music files. With flash player on, nothing displays at all, (bank space where audio player would normally be displayed)
If I disable shock wave flash, a text link is displayed that downloads the MP3 in a new window (quick player), Also video doesn't work on any website. If I disable Flash and quicktime, text link to audio file downloads to realplayer.

hello msandman, there have been quite a few issues with adobe's latest flash update - can you try if flash content is showing up correctly again, when you disable the real-player components like mentioned in the following article: [[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox]]?
otherwise you could also try to remove flash 11.3 from the windows control panel/programs section & [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 downgrade to the 10.3 branch of the plugin], which is still receiving security updates.

  • How can I upload an audio file and link a page on my webiste to it?

I host a radio show weekly, have recorded broadcasts in MP3, want to host them on itunes and have a link from my website for visitors to listen to. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Could I ask you to read my 'get you started' page on podcasting, which should answer most of your questions.

As to your website, which is a separate matter from iTunes, you can provide embedded players - these pages gives you some information:

  • Linking Soundtrack Pro to audio files stored on an external drive

FCP user but using SP for the first time. I have the large sized audio files stored on an external drive which at the moment I can't access from within SP. Just wondering the best way to link to the audio files?

I actually use the 'save as' function that consolidates all the audio clips and move them onto a separate drive. I'm doing a lot of large projects that have more clips than are actually used. Consolidation means I can move and work on another machine. And in the end it's easier to archive this single directory of files. Works for me, especially because sometimes the audio sources are scattered in too many places on my system.

  • Exporting Pro CS4 videos to different mpeg formats-no video or separate audio file???

I have Premiere Pro CS4. When I export my video to mpeg-4 format, there is no video. When I export to mpeg-2DVD format, there is a separate wav audio file. Adobe Media Encoder, which I use automatically as the export encoding software, does not seem capable of combining the audio and video files into a single video. Export to mpeg-2 format works fune. When I try to export a 1 hr 20 min video in H.264 1440 x 1080 config, it is a 10GB file. I want the best quality that will fit on  4.7 GB or 8.5 GB media. What am I missing ?

Best thing is to use Dynamic Link/(Send to Encore. Set Encore to automatic and your movie will fit nicely on a dvd.
If you do not want to use DL then export from Premiere with the mpeg2-dvd settings (choose one of the presets or set it manually) with Multiplexing OFF.
Don't forget to set Use Max Render Quality ON.
This output will give you three files. m2v, wave and xmpses (and maybe a xmp file)
Import the first two as a timeline in Encore, make menu and burn.
Using a seperate video file and audio file is the way to go for making a dvd. If you set multiplexing to on then you will get one file containing video and audio.
Encore has to dumux (or demultiplex, separating video from audio) before being able to make the disk. Waist of energy.

  • Link button to audio file

I have an interactive slide with four PLAYBACK buttons that I want linked to four separate audio files. If the user clicks on PLAYBACK BUTTON A, keynote will play AUDIO FILE A. Click on PLAYBACK BUTTON B, keynote will play AUDIO FILE B. Is this possible? Thanks.

Nope, there's no "trigger" for audio playback function in Keynote. Usually people end up making one slide per sound and then putting a return button on each of those slides. Click the button on your main slide and it goes to the sound slide and the sound plays, then click the return button to go back. You can actually do it pretty seamlessly if you make the other slides look just like the first one, and you stick a transparent button over the ENTIRE sound slide so that anywhere you click returns you to slide 1...but it's a lot of work. At least in your case you'd only have 5 total slides to do this though.

  • How do I export detached audio files as separate files, for Pro Tools processing?

My project is a live band performance. I have every song as a separate Event with associated audio. I have detachd all the audio from all the video Events. I now want to Export the audio files to Pro Tools for editing, then Import the edited audio back into FCP X and snap the edited audio to the associated video Events.
My problem is this: FCP X keeps exporting the audio as a single large WAV file, rather than as separate WAV files. In fact, the video events are separate, and so the audio associated with the video Events are separate.
I first renamed the Role of every audio file as "Music", then did a Share --> Export Media of all "Music" audio Roles. After exporting, I found it was one large WAV file, rather than separate files of different sizes.
As a 2nd try, I created Sub-Roles for each audio clip, and named each one with a distinct Sub-Role name. I then Exported all these Sub-Roles (yes, tedious). The result was that every exported WAV file was the same size, the same as the file size in my first try. The only audio that could be heard in each file was the audio in that particular song, but FCP X still created the very large file with silence in all the rest of the file. Since the file lengths don't match the original audio fil lengths, there will be a problem when I Import the edited files back into FCP X and want to Snap them into place.
    Question:
How can I export the individual detached audio clips as separate files, the length of each file equaling the length of the original audio file in FCP X?
Do I need to separate the detached audio into separate Layers visually in the Project Timeline, so they are not touching? Or does this matter?
    Help!!

    No.
You need to explore Compound Clips. This workflow may or may not be of help.
Select an Event with clips in it and press Option+G to make a (blank) compound clip.
Select the Event Browser, create a new Event and call it 'Effects'.
Drag the Compound Clip into this Event.
Right-click the clip and select 'Open in Timeline'.
Select the timeline and press Option+W. This will add a Gap Clip to the timeline.
Select the gap clip and press Ctrl+D then type in the duration you want the clip to be.
Now open a project and select and copy one of the clips with effects etc.
Open the Compound Clip in the Timeline again, select the gap clip and press Option+Cmd+V to paste the effects into your Compound Clip.
This clip is now saved in your Browser and will remain there for you to copy and then paste the effects into any clip in any project.
It's a bit clunky, but it works - and once you learn about Compound Clips, you can work wonders with them. As an example, if you want to add more effects without overwriting the effects in the Compound Clip, simply make the Compound Clip into a Compound Clip (again) and add the effects. They will be added to the original effects.

  • How to add an audio file to a link

I am working on a project using IWeb and I am trying to figure out if it is possible and then, if it is how to add an audio file to a link. I would really be glad of your help as I am having problems meeting the requirements of the project if I don't make it work.
Also, is it possible when having added a movie clip from quick time player to have the clip start as soon as the page is "opening", that is without pressing the play button?
I am waiting in great suspense to see if anybody can help me out. If you have the answers to my questions, please send me an email at [email protected] - thank you so much :o)

    Hi Maiken
    Welcome to the discussion forums.
All you need is open iWeb, select text or image, open inspector, go to link, check the "enable as a hyperlink" box, in "link to" there's a teardown menu where you select "a file" and select the file you want to link to.
If you want to have it downloading look at [this|http://alyeska.altervista.org/en/iWeb_Downloads.html]
    For the second question:
select the movie file in iWeb go to inspector, then to the last icon (showing the quicktime logo) and check the box that say "Autoplay".

  • Does anyone know how to separate a movie track from an audio track on the new Mavericks Garage band. It used to be very easy on the iLife 11 version. If anyone could respond ASAP I'd be grateful. I need to make an audio file from a video.

I urgently need to make some audio tracks from videos using the new 2013 GarageBand. In iLife11 Garageband, this was very easy. However, I cannot see how to do it in the new one. The alternative might be to revert to the iLife11 version, so does anyone know how to do this. It's extremely urgent since I need to produce these for a court custody hearing which will take place at 0800 GMT UK time on 31st October 2013. Please help.
    Thank you.

When you drag a movie from the Media Browser to the Time lIne in GarageBand, you will see a pop-up "Extracting Audio".
The Movie and the audio file will appear in separate tracks. You can copy the audio region from the sound track to a different track to keep it safe and then hide the Movie track.

  • I am trying to export all of the separate audio files from Logic Pro X so that I can transfer them into pro Pro Tools, however it won't let me do it without the panning information. The option to untick panning is greyed out. How can I do it?

I have exported the separate audio files, but it contains the panning information. When the export pop up window opens, the export with panning information box is ticked, but it is greyed out so it won't let me unselect it. How do I fix this problem?

A brief and probably non-helpful answer: I know of no way to eliminate your large amount of duplicates other than by repetitive, tedious manual effort.
*There has got to be a simpler way.*
I hope you're right, but I don't think there is a simpler way.

  • Work flow for syncing separate Audio files with Video files in FCP

It may be too late for me to use this workflow that I want with my current project, but I need to figure out what it is anyway for future reference.
Right now I'm editing a movie which is near completion. When we recorded the movie, the camera's deck recorded reference audio from the sound guy at 48k @ 16bit. This audio also went through an additional set of preamps which added a small amount of noise. So we don't want to use the reference audio because of it's low resolution and less clean audio. The sound guy recorded straight to his deck at 48k @ 24bit, besides the better resolution, his audio is noticeably better.
The camera deck and 'clapper' (I think that's what you call it) were not connected or synced. So the video files and the soundsguy's audio files are slightly different lengths, but at least have a 'clap sound' to manually sync to. And I don't mean that the audio and video files won't play in sync with each other, I mean that the soundguy always started recording before the camera, so his audio files have slightly different start and stop times.
Could I have synced the audio files with the video files before I started editing this project? If so, could it have been in the way that the soundguy's audio would be connected to my video files while editing? What would that procedure have been?
My current workflow right now is I have my finished sequence, I change the bit rate to 24 in Sequence Settings, and start manually dragging the soundguy's files to the sequence for every little edited clip. This is going to take forever, there are 99 scenes in this movie. Anyway, at the end of the day these sequences are exported as .omf files and imported into Pro Tools for audio post production.
I was not thinking to figure this out before I started editing the movie, this is unfortunate, a newb move in a decent production.
Anyway, I don't know if there is a standard for this situation or if I just opened up a can of worms for many possible workflows. Please comment if you have experience in this area or please refer me to any reading material.
    Thanks for your time!
    -Monty

The normal workflow (besides manually syncing up before editing!)
is to have ' some ' way of auto syncing the clips.
So you must have common timecode.
With external audio, you can slave the cam's TC to the TC output of the BWF recorder.
Then you can use BWF / QT merge (one of my apps) to sync them, or use Sync 'n Link.
    (another third party application)
If it is not possible cause you're shooting with a cam without a TC input, you can record the TC output on one of the audio tracks of your cam, and use FCPauxTC reader to decode the beeps and translate that to QT TC, and again use the former tricks to sync them.
It is difficult when you have never done it, but very easy once you get the hang of it, and it saves a huge amount of time to do it right from the start.
Have a look at the FCP aux TC reader here:

Sync 'n Link can be found here:
