Separate document at chapters? Script?

I'm working on a book for ePub and have a document that has all the chapters in one file.
But we want each chapter to start on its own page.
The way I know to do this is with the Book feature and new documents for each chapter.
How would you handle the drudgery of breaking the single document into individual files?
Anyone know of a script that does this?

  • Separate document no. for SD revision document and detagging relationship between invoice and SD document no.

    Country specific settings for India - Business transactions enables SD revision vide table TE872_SDCTRL_IND.
    Whenever SD revision takes place system issue similar document no. as that of invoice and tagged it with XBLNR as per standard process.
    Now issue that if that invoice is reversed, subsequent SD also gets reversed.
    So business requires to have separate document no. for SD revision document and detagged relationship between invoice and SD document no.
    I have explored event R507, 0010, 0060 and R436 but couldn't find input structure where such separate document can be assigned.
    So can you provide hint which can assist in issue resolution?

  • Can I create a Table of Contents (CS6) in a separate document of book file?

    I'm helping someone create an ebook. He has three separate sections of his book so there are three files that make up the Indesign book. I currently have a table of contents at the beginning of each of the three sections and when I pdf the book, it works great. But when I export it as a Kindle ebok, only the TOC for the very first section works. I don't know how to fix it so that I can have multiple TOCs so if anyone knows, I would welcome advice on that! Otherwise I was thinking of just having one TOC in a separate file so my book would be made of a TOC and then the three sections of the book. But when I create a new document and try to add a TOC, it won't do it because the doc is blank. I'm sure there must be a way to have a separate document for a TOC that is actually functional when the book is exported.

    If you need TOC for each file in itself then while creating TOC, select 'Make text anchor in source paragraph' and it will make TOC as hyperlinks in exported epub.
    If you need TOC in a separate document, then add a new document to book and while creating TOC in this document select 'Include Book Documents' and it will bring styles from all documents in the book in this document and then you can create a TOC for all the document. Also select 'Make text anchor in source paragraph' so that it will work as hyperlink in exported epub.
    And if you do not even want to place TOC in your document and need it in exported epub then create a TOC style in source document of book which is a TOC for all documents in book. When exporting to EPUB, select 'TOC Style' in Navigation drop down and then select your created TOC style in next drop down.

    The first time you save a document made from a template you will get the new document/save as dialog. A template is a special kind of document that will open a new, untitled document when you choose it, either in the template chooser or by double-clicking in a Finder window. A Pages template has the .template file extension. If your "template" isn't really a template, you will need to duplicate the document & then save it.

    When you say "print", do you mean the text is correct in your InDesign file? If you export the document to a PDF, is it still correct? Final test: if you print the PDF to your printer (making sure you use the same driver and setting), is it wrong? Then it's your printer driver, trying to be smart when it should not. Locate a Settings dialog where you can switch off options such as this one. Were I a betting person, I'd tell you to look for something called "Auto-correct mirrored documents".

    I just set up my new monitor and the screen is identical to the screen on my laptop.  I purchased the monitor so that I could work with two separate documents at the same time--one on my laptop screen and the other on the monitor.  How do I set this up.

    Since I don't know which OS you are using, I have given you the instructions for Win 7.  I believe all you have to do is open the two documents that you want to view and move one of them to the other monitor.  If the second monitor is on the right side (facing the screen), move the document to the right side and it should show on the second monitor.  You will have to set this up in the Control Panel / Display / Change display settings.  You should see Monitor 1 and Monitor 2.  If you don't know which is 1 and which is 2, simply right click on one of them and select "Identify".  This will momentarily show the numbers on the screen of the monitors.

  • Opening separate documents/windows from a form

    I am having an issue opening 2 separate documents from a 6i form (deployed on the web) that hopefully someone can shed some light on: From within a procedure, I make a call to WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT("\\file1.pdf",_BLANK) to open 'file1.pdf' in a separate window, which is a pre-created file stored on a server. Then, I immediately call RUN_PRODUCT("file2") to generate a 6i report in a another separate window. Both of the files/windows open fine. The problem occurs when the user goes to close the windows, if file1 (the one opened first) is closed before file2 then the application freezes and I have to shut it down. However, this does not occur when the window containing file2 is closed before file1. Why is this happening?

    actually this shouldn't be the case. Have you tried with another Browser (e.g. IE instead of Netscape) to exclude Browsers from the equation?

    Procedure for posting the Invoice Reduction :
    (1) Enter the T.Code MIRO - Select the Transaction as Invoice only.
    (2) Give the reference number ( Example PO Number) for which you want to create an Invoice.
    (3) In the Display Variant, Select Invocie Reduction.
    (4) Maintain the required details and post the Invocie.
    Example: Invoice Reduction due to Quantity Variance:
    PO: 100 nos @ 10 EUR/No
    GR: 40 nos
    Invoice: 40 nos @ 12 EUR/No = 480 EUR
    When you enter Invoice,
    Order Qty            Order Amount         Invoiced Qty        Invocied Amt

    Can I print two separate documents  on opposite sides of paper of my hp 6520 by clicking print on my computer rather than copying pages on printer?

    Not sure of how 'sided' papers are supposed to be loaded in the cassette trays of this printer model (the User Guide manual only mentions 'sides' in relation to the drop-down Tray 1).

  • Script for extracting pages into separate documents?

    Using Acrobat 9 Pro on an XP machine, my job entails taking PDFs over 2000 pages long, sorting them into smaller documents based on their contents, and (once they are sorted) breaking down any documents longer than 25 pages into individual PDFs of 25 pages each. So, for instance, if I have a document of 110 pages, I end up with four 25-page documents and one 10-page document. Right now I do this by extracting pages 26-50 and deleting them from the original, then saving the extracted pages. Would it be possible to write a script that could accomplish the same end result? (I have CS4 Design Premium, so if anyone knows how to do this with another CS4 program, that would work also.)

  • Printing text from separate documents in same book as a continuous flow through the pages

    Hi, I have a basic problem. My book in InDesign has different chapters and subchapters. When I started it I split all chapters in separated documents (all contained in the same book). But for a specific chapter I also want to split each subchapter into a separate file, the layout would be something like:
    MyBook.indb - the bookfile
    Chapter1.indd - Chapter 1
    Chapter2.indd - Chapter 2
    Chapter3.indd - Chapter 3
    Chapter3A.indd - Chapter 3, Subchapter 1
    Chapter3B.indd - Chapter 3, Subchapter 2
    Chapter3C.indd - Chapter 3, Subchapter 3
    Chapter4.indd - Chapter 4
    After I have set everything up page numbers and styles for headers and subheaders work no problem through the chapters and subchapters. The problem I have is, if I print the book to PDF, Chapter 3A, 3B and 3C will be printed in separate pages although they are less than a page long each. My ideal will be that all the contents of chapter 3 (3 + 3A + 3B + 3C) will be printed as a single chapter with no page breaks. I have tried changing the styles of the paragraphs and headers/subheaders to keep with previous, also the option Start Paragraph set to Anywhere. I am not able to disable the option to Start Section for the first page of say Chapter3A.indd, but I guess this is not possible as InDesign sees this as a single document with one page and it needs a sections. Is there any other way in InDesign to link those documents together so they don't add page breaks (or effectively split into different pages) without the need to have them all in the same .indd document?

    So you have documents that have unfilled pages, each of which has an assigned page number that you synched through the book panel, but now you want the text in these documents to flow as one continuous thread? How do you think InDesign is going to be able to thread text in different files, and what do you expect to happen to your page numbering?

  • How to expand all frames in the document using a script?

    I have used the ImageCatalog script to place a 1000+ images of different dimensions in the document. On the ImageCatalog dialog box, I have unchecked the Proportional and Frame to Content option to place the images in 100%. I am looking for a way to expand all the graphic frames to reveal all the images it placed on the document. When you double-click the bottom-right handle, it would expand the frame to see the full content. (it would time consuming when you do this one by one)

    If I understand you correctly, you placed the images without using Fit Frame To Contents and now you are trying to rectify this? Do you get that making just the frames larger, at this point, may make them overlapping others? If that's going to be a problem, just run the script again but this time with the correct settings ...
