Sequence at run time

hi
i want get a automatically generated primary key value in a query that s executing as dynamic, like
execute immediate v_query;
where v_query contains the actual query..
i tried sequence, but we cant use sequence values in the run time queries..
i just want to generate automatically primary key values at run time...
can u help me?

you want generate the priamry key when you insert data in into table.
your v_query does it insert data, if this is the case then you can use trigger as shown below;
1. first make one sequence
2. then make one trigger
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER BRI_Trig
BEFORE INSERT
ON table 1
FOR EACH ROW
DECLARE
v_id NUMBER;
BEGIN
IF :NEW.col_id IS NULL THEN
SELECT seq_name.nextval INTO v_id FROM dual;
:NEW.col_id := v_id;
END IF;
END;

  • LabVIEW VI with Report Generation Toolkit elements in a TestStand sequence does not run with a LabVIEW 8.5 Run-Time Engine

    Hi all,
I am using LabVIEW 8.5.1 and TestStand 4.1. I have done a TestStand sequence with a VI in it, which uses Report Generation Toolkit elements. On my machine I am using LabVIEW and TestStand with a Development System license. On the other machine I am using TestStand with a Base Deployment license and I have chosen the LabVIEW 8.5 Run-Time Engine in the Adapter Configuration. Everything is running well except of this VI with Report Generation Toolkit elements. The error message is showing that the VI is not executable. It works well only after I have installed LabVIEW with an Evaluation license and chosen LabVIEW 8.5 Development System in the Adapter Configuration.
I have found other posts and a document in the KnowledgeBase with a similar problem: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/8A0E6274D9BD7B1986256F62006AD402?OpenDocument But I am not using EXE files in my sequence, so I don't know how to solve mine. Anybody has an idea?

    Hello guys,
thank you very much for your answers!
    @Ruediger:
I tried to follow the instruction for Method 2 in the mentioned document: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/F3DC40A6E3F3B25B862570AD005D1D3D?OpenDocument, but the steps on my machine are different starting from step 4. After I click "Continue..." in step 3, I dont get a window, the system just makes a new folder with the same VI.
To be honest, I am new to LabVIEW and have some difficulties at this time. What I understood from your reply is, that I need to make a LLB-File, where the files from Report Generation Toolkit are in!?
    @GovBob:
I was following the instruction in the document: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9E00E7EFE0635E678625734600779EFE, but it wasnt working. Can you please tell me how I can check if the VI Server is installed and running on the machine?
I am using LabVIEW 8.5.1 and TestStand 4.1 on my machine, on the deploy machine there is TestStand 4.1.1. The version of my Report Generation Toolkit is 1.1.2.

  • Sequence will not validate with run time prompts in business rules

I am in Hyperion Planning v 1.1.1.3, with Workforce initialized. I am creating a sequence of business rules. The rules use run time prompts within them and validate when used on their own. However, when I insert them in a sequence the sequence will not validate, apparently due to the run time prompts.
The sequence returns the error: Cannot calculate. Essbase Error(1200323): Error parsing formula for [FIX STATEMENT] (line 7): expression expected after [(].
Line 7 in the business rule is as follows:
    FIX ([rtpYear],[rtpScenario],[rtpVer],[rtpCC],[rtpBU],[rtpEmp])
The problem is not isolated to this business rule, it occurs with any rule I try.
Can sequences function with run time prompts in the included business rules?
    Stephen

I have figured out that if any rtp is hidden in the business rule, the sequence will not validate. Is this expected behavior for sequences?
Additionally, hiding the variables in the sequence has no effect if the variables are not hidden in the rule. When launched from a menu in a web form, the user is prompted for values for all variables (except for the Execution Database Name) although they are prepopulated based on the members in the POV, Page, etc. Is this also expected behavior?
I also find that it won't validate if "Merge launch variables" is selected (I have included rules associated with different plan types and with different dimensionality, so this may be expected). The user is prompted to provide values for every variable in each rule in the sequence, many of them duplicates (though, again, they are prepopulated based on members in the form).

    Hello
I am new to the Teststand.
    I am using labview8.0 with teststand 3.1
I have developed some labview codemodules as vi's without using the teststand utility library pallete
Now i have to run them in teststand.
While executing them(as a sequence) in teststand,i need to enter the data to the labview code at run time. For this labview front panel should appear as GUI or popup (while executing). Is it possible to do this without using teststand pallete.
or i need to change the code with teststand pallete(i think it is difficult now to change the code)
Plz provide a solution to this problem
Also one more, how and where to use the 'pass by reference' option

    Hi,
    see your other post http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=330&message.id=13914
Also, you can, specify to display the front panel of your VI when you specify your VI in your sequence file.
There are examples, for dialog panel using LabVIEW, in the examples folder of TestStand and on the NI Web Site.

  • How to disable the run-time popup menu in the sequence display on TestStand Operator Interface, that allow the use to skip the test?

How to disable the run-time popup menu in the sequence display on TestStand Operator Interface, that allow the use to skip the test?

    Hello,
Regarding the skip/force pass/force fail options, when I set the ControlExecFlow to True in Teststand 3.1 and 3.5, in the Sequence Editor the menu options for skip/force pass/force fail are not active for Technician but, when I launch the Operator Interface logged with Technician the options are active. The problem is that if the technician sets one step to one of these options, and change the user to Operator, the test step remains skip/force pass.
Is there any possibility without modifying the Operator Interface (at programming level), to reload default values of the steps when changing the user to Operator?
    Thank you,

  • How to get sequence name in run time.

    hi
I have several sub sequence called in the main sequence in TestStand. Those sub sequences have different sequence names, which i wanted to display by string indicator on the Labview Operator Interface. Is there a simple way to show the current calling sub sequence name during run time(run main).
    thanks.

    Hi,
The easiest way is to use the NameOf() function. In this case where you wish to get the name of the current sequence the syntax NameOf(RunState.Sequence) yields the name. I attach a very simple example also.

Hi Terry, it happened again :-(
Actually I see that the problem appeares in the same subsequence of my sequence. In that  subsequence I have approximately 25 numeric steps, 6 of them are on skip now.
The problem appeares suddenly after many batch loops.  I have the message "Error, Parameter new value: Out of memory. [Error code -17000, out of memory].
After that on next loop I see it runs and writes reports for others subsequences and steps, but on the "problem subsequence" again I get message "Out of memory"...
At the one of the problem loops I saw other message "An error occured calling 'Process One Result' in ITSO FlyReportGen of TestStand on-the-Fly-Report-Generator. Out of memory. Source: TSOTFRG  [Error Code: -17000, Out of memory].
I use "Discard Results or Disable Results " enable option in the ModelOptions. But without success. Is this a problem of TestStand or may be is this the special problem of my subsequence or any step in that subsequence?

  • Task Sequence Application deployment - maximum run time bug

    Hi there,
we install sophos antivirus during the task sequence and though i specified a maximum run time of 15 minutes the installation of sophos app takes about 2 hours during the task sequence.
is this a known bug that the maximum run time is being ignored?

The Max allowed run time does not intend to limit the application running duration. It is for Maintenance Window.

  • Sequence in Labview Run time error

    Hello,
When i want to execute my sequnce with run-time LABVIEW, i have sequence error indicate VIs broken. This error appears only when i launch the sequence with an labview executable. If i use, testexec.exe or TESTSTAND this error doesn't appear.
I used LABVIEW 2009, TESTSTAND 4.2.1 and try with LABVIEW2012 et TESTSTAND2012. Same problem.

    Hi EricGau,
Did you try building a deployment package through the TestStand deployment utility?
    deployment
You can get detailed process for creating a deployment image in the TestStand reference Manual.
You should ensure all the VIs you used and their dependencies are compiled in an identical and correct version. (either by using the Mass compile tool of labVIEW: tool>>advanced>>Mass Compile) or creating an .llb which automatically mass compile everything.
Normally creating an llb resolve the issue you are experiencing.
I presume the broken VIs are VIs you used as code module and not VIs implemented and used in the UI source code?
There are a few reasons that a LabVIEW vi could fail to run using the Run-Time engine:
Your LabVIEW vi contains subvi's that were not saved in the same version of LabVIEW, prior to TestStand 2010 all your LabVIEW vi's needed to be saved in the same version of LabVIEW so they all used the same RTE. Try mass compiling your LabVIEW VI's to verify they are all saved to same version.
Your LabVIEW VI may contain code that needs to be compiled in order to run using just LabVIEW's Run-Time engine. You can build the VI into a Source Distribution, this will compile the VI allow it to run with just the LabVIEW RTE.

  • Maximum allowed run time for a task sequence

I found if i left the maximum allowed run time for a task sequence with a defualt value of "0" in configuration manager 2012 r2 cu2,the required task sequence would never run without a maintenance window larger than
    12H.
At client side, the servicewindowmanager.log always said this required task sequence had a maximum runtime of 43200 seconds(12h).
    servicewindowmanager.log:
    OnIsServiceWindowAvailable called with: Runtime:43200, Type:5
Program cannot Run! Setting *canProgramRun to FALSE
There does not exist a Service Window of this Type, for this duration. The Program will not run.
If i set maximum allowed run time to 120 minutes, task sequence would run under a 3h mainenance window.
So if you leave the maximum allowed run time for a task sequence with a value of "0" then client agent will evaluate it as 43200(12h) for a required deployment,is it true? have i missed something?

    Hi,
That is correct it will default to the same value as a program with a "Unknown" maximum runtime value, Unknown is also evaluated to 0 = 12h so that is correct behaviour.

  • VISA Write differs between TS Development System and LV Run-Time Engine

    Hi all
I made an application on LabVIEW to test BERs (Bit Error Rates), and I used VISA Write between two COM ports to exchange data.
Everything works fine using just LabVIEW.
Afterwards, I used TestStand to call my application (VI). The LabVIEW adapters from TestStand were set to Development System by default, and everything works OK!!
Finally, I needed to disable the development system, and set the LabVIEW adapters from TestStand to LabVIEW Run-Time Engine and I notice that the speed of the data exchange between the two COM ports decreased dramatically.
The only difference was the speed...because all the data (changed slowly in this case) arrived correctly on the other COM port too.
The symptom was the same as decreasing the baud rate...but the baud rate and all the other configurations remained the same. The only difference was the change between Develpment System to Run-Time Engine to notice this decreased speed between the exchanged data using VISA Write.
    Any solutions for this?
    Thanks in advance
    Joao
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Joao,
you state that using the LV Developement System as execution platform for your LV code modules result in faster datatransfer between the COM ports than using the LV Run-Time Engine.
So i am pondering: Does this refer to TS at all?
    Please check the following:
Run you communication using a sole LV application in LV Developement System. This should be fast. Now build an executable of this application and run that one. Do you see the same behavior?
If there is no difference in a sole LV approach, there have to be some settings in the TS approach making this slow. So please let us know:
Are there different modules involved in that data transfer (which in fact points to the reply Christophe made)?
What about loading/unloading options of the modules?
How big is the hierarchy of the modules, e.g. is it necessary for the RTE to load stuff the Dev Env has already in memory due to loading a lvproj.......?
Could you provide a simple example sequence+modules showing this behavior?
What versions of LV and TS are you using?
    hope this helps,

  • Calling a VI which uses "system exec.vi" with LabVIEW run-time engine as adapter

    Hi,
My TestStand sequence calls a VI which includes a call to "system exec.vi". When I try to load it in TestStand and if LabVIEW adapter is set to run-time engine, I get an error message "Unable to load Vi...". If I switch the adapter to "Development system", then it works fine.
Is there any way to use "system exec.vi" in a VI which is called in TestStand with LabVIEW run-time ?

  • Teststand error states that a vi failed to load in the Labview Run-Time Engine

I am getting an error in teststand that states that a vi failed to load in the Labview Run-Time Engine version '14.0.1'

How do I get this VI to run on this system when it is called by test Stand?
    Thank you

The RTE 14.0 was loaded as part of my deployment and after I ran this I got an update notice for the F1 patch which I also loaded.
I do not have labview loaded on this system, only the run time engines from running my deployment.

  • Error -17600 when switching from LabVIEW Development System to LabVIEW Run-Time Engine in Adapter Configuration

I receive an error message (code -17600) while loading my test sequence after switching from LabVIEW Development System (2009 f3) to LabVIEW Run-TIme Engine using the Adapter Configuration.
    ErrorCode: -17600,

    LabVIEW Run-Time Engine version 9.0.1f3.
When I switch back to the LV development system, everything is OK, and the sequence loads and runs perfectly.
My TestStand Engine Version is 2012 f1 (5.0.0.262).
I'd appreciate any help on this issue.
    Roman

    Hi Roman,
There are a couple of things you can try:
    1) Determine if the LabVIEW RunTime Engine is corrupted in some way. Create a new simple VI with no sub-VIs, using the same LabVIEW Development system you used for mass-compiling the VIs. Create a TestStand step that calls this VI and ensure it runs correctly. Now switch your LabVIEW adapter to use the RuntimeEngine and choose the "Auto detect using VI version" option.
Check if the simple VI is loadable and runs without errors in TestStand.
If the step generates the same error, you should try a re-install of the LabVIEW development system.
If not, its most likely that there is some VI you are using that is not loadable in the LabVIEW Runtime Engine because:
    1) Some sub-VI is still not saved in the right version or bitness. Open the VI heirarchy of the top-level VI that you are calling from TestStand and examine the paths of all the sub-VIs to check if they were in the folder you masscompiled and re-save any that are outside this directory.
Also, when you try to close the top level VI, do you get a prompt to save any unsaved files? If so, they could be the sub-VIs that are not saved in the right version. Save all of them.
Check if you are loading any VIs programatically and if these are compiled and saved in the right version as well.
    2) There is some feature you are using in your LabVIEW code that is not supported in the LabVIEW RunTime Engine. To check this, add your top-level VI to a LabVIEW project and create a new build specification and create a new executable from this VI.
Right-click "Build Specifications" and choose "New->Application(EXE)".
In the Application Properties window, select Source Files and choose the top level VI as the start-up VI.
        Save the properties.
Right-click on the newly created build specification and choose Build.
Run this executable (it will be run using the LabVIEW RunTime) and check if the VI has a broken arrow indicating that it cannot be loaded and run in the LabVIEW Runtime Engine.
You might need to examine your code and find the feature which is not supported in the LabVIEW RunTime and find an alternative.
Another thing i forgot to mention the last time around is if you are using 64-bit LabVIEW with 32-bit TestStand, then executing code using LabVIEW RTE from TestStand will not work since the 64-bit LabVIEW RTE dll cannot be loaded by the 32-bit TestStand process.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider sharing your LabVIEW code so i can take a look.
    Regards,
    TRJ

  • LabVIEW Run Time Engine and ActiveX Automation Server

    Hi,
I have a question related to LabVIEW Run Time Engine and ActiveX Automation Server:
We have a tool developed in LabVIEW and TestStand. End user interface is a LabVIEW GUI (it's an executable) which executes TestStand sequences. Some TestStand sequences call lower level LabVIEW VIs.
Everything works fine with LabVIEW installed, but I was wondering if I could run this tool on deployment machine with only LabVIEW run time engine installed. We are using LabVIEW 6.1 and with only the run time engine installed, I get the error message: "Unable to launch the 'LabVIEW.Application' ActiveX automation server ".
BTW, we are planning to upgrade the versions soon.
Is it possible to make things work only with the run time engine?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the response, Brian.
I did upgrade to LabVIEW 8.0 and TestStand 3.5. Everything works fine on the development computer where LabVIEW and TestStand is installed. On the target computer in the lab, I installed LV RTE 8.0 and TestStand 3.5, and now when a VI is called in a sequence file, I get the following:
    RunState.PreviousStep.Result.Error.Code  -18002
RunState.PreviousStep.Result.Error.Msg  "LabVIEW: The VI is not executable"
So, the executable opens and works fine (which means that the LV RTE is installed properly), but when a sequence calls a low level VI, it does not make it through.
    comments/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
