Sequential Execution of database statements in ABAP

Hi,
I want to update some rows of table(userdefined) purchase order and my requirement is to change the status of that table after i clicked on that particular record.
Can we do that eventhandling type of things in ABAP.
My table structure is like this
Req_Cust_Num, Req_Date,PONum, Meterial_Num, Qty, Price,Supp_Cust_Num, Req_Delivery_Date and Status.
at the time of inserting status of all records is InQueue.
I want to update by particular date and Supp_Cust_Num.
Is there any option to update status to processed after clicking on the row....
Regards,
Pushparaju.B.

hi Pushparaj,
i think this can be done like this,
1. get the particular record by using sy-ucomm.
2. then compare it with the table and update the particular record.
with regards,
S.Barane

  • In ecatt - how to check at database level using ABAP

    Hi,
How to check at database level using ABAP in Ecatt tool.
say,for example I want to check a particular sales order is invoiced or not ,at the database level and if it is invoiced I have stop proceeding to invoicing of that sales order number.
Could anybody suggest on this with an example?
    thanks.

    Hi,
you can use the command GETTAB to access single db records.
Full specified or partitial specified keys can be use at GETTAB. It will return always only one record, also if a couple could match your selection.
For more advanced scenarios you can also use eCATTs Inline ABAP. In a block between the commands ABAP. ENDABAP. you can code ABAP statements, e.g. SELECT ... INTO TABLE ...
eCATT script parameters of type 'V' defined in that script using ABAP/ENDABAP will be transfered into the ABAP block and back to script after ABAP perform.
    Best regards

  • Is Logical Database used in ABAP?????

    Hi All,
I m very confused whether LDB's are used in ABAP or not.
i have undergone a small training in ABAP-HR (HCM).
In that training i was told that there is an advantage in HCM that LDB's are used here
which were not used in ABAP.
And i have read somewhere that LDB's are used in ABAP.
can plz sumone give a light on this.
    Thanks,
    Sonali

    hi,
The use of a logical database provides you with an alternative to having to program database accesses individually. Logical databases retrieve data records and make them available to ABAP programs.
The same logical database can be the data source for several Quick Views, queries, and programs. In the Quick View, the LDB can be specified directly as a data source. A query works with the logical database when the functional area that generated the query is defined with a logical database. In the case of type 1 programs, the LDB is entered in the attributes or called using function module LDB_PROCESS. See appendix for information on how to use the function module.
    Logical databases offer several advantages:
The system generates a selection screen. The use of selection screen versions or variants provides the required flexibility.
The user does not have to know the exact structure of the tables involved (especially the foreign key dependencies); the data is made available in the correct order at GET events.
Performance improvements within logical databases directly affect all programs linked to the logical database, without having to change the programs themselves.
Maintenance can be performed at a central location.
Authorization checks can also be performed centrally.
A logical database is an ABAP program that reads predefined data from the database and makes it available to other programs.
A hierarchical structure determines the order in which the data is supplied to the programs. A logical database also provides a selection screen that checks user entries and conducts error dialogs. These can be extended in programs.
SAP provides some 200 logical databases in Release 4.6. The names of logical databases have been extended to 20 places in Release 4.0 (namespace prefix max. 10 characters).
In the case of executable programs, you can enter a logical database in the attributes.
Use the NODES statement to specify the nodes of the logical database that You want to use in the program. NODES allocates the appropriate storage space for the node - that is, a work area or a table area depending on the node type.
The logical database makes the data records available for the corresponding GET events.
The sequence in which these events are processed is determined by the structure of the logical database.
Logical databases are made up of several sub-objects. The structure determines the hierarchy, and thus the read sequence of the data records.
    Hope this helps, Do reward

  • Merge Statement in ABAP

    Dear Gurrus,
i am having a trouble in using oracle merge statement in abap, the moment i use where clause in the bottom it  gives me an oracle error
    EXEC SQL.
      MERGE INTO SAP_GL_ACCOUNT@GETZDB a
      USING SKA1 b
        ON (A.gl_code= B.SAKNR)
      WHEN MATCHED THEN
        UPDATE SET a.posting_block =  B.XSPEB,
                   a.locked        =  B.XSPEA,
                   A.BALANCE_SHEET =  B.XBILK
         WHEN NOT MATCHED THEN
           insert   (gl_code,
                     DESCRIPTION,
                     posting_block,
                     locked,
                     balance_sheet)
          VALUES (b.SAKNR,'shadab',B.XSPEB,B.XSPEA,B.XBILK)
where b. mandt = 950      I am talking about this line
             ENDEXEC.
the Moment  i include WHERE clause in the botton before ENDEXEC it generates as error
" Database error text........: "ORA-00904: "A3"."MANDT": invalid  identifier#ORA-02063: preceding line from GETZDB".
although its a basic feature of Oracle to inclue where clauses in insert or update in merge, but here it is generating an error.

    Hello Shadab,
As per my understanding of this oracle native sql code.
everything is fine except the use of direct value i.e 950 .
System is not able to process this value .
This normally happens even in normal abap sql statements also.
The better solution could be to declare a variable with the
same data type as "mandt" and then pass this "950" value into that
variable and then use this variable in the where clause instead of directly
    passing the value.
    i.e data:l_var type mandt vlaue '950'.
The other option could be to use the same hard coded
value but use this value in the where clause in quotations i.e.,
    '950' instead of 950.
I hope this would solve your purpose, If not please reply me back.
    thanks,
    M.Naveen Kumar.

  • ARCHITECTURE OF SAP R/3 AND APPLICATION SERVER AND DATABASE SERVER IN ABAP

ARCHITECTURE OF SAP R/3 AND APPLICATION SERVER AND DATABASE SERVER IN ABAP?
    PLEASE EXPLAIN

    hi
    <b>Presentation Server</b>
It is actually a program named sapgui.exe.
It usually installed in user’s workstation.
The interface accepts the input from the user in the form of keystrokes, mouse-clicks, and function keys, and sends these requests to the application server.
It receives and displays the result from the application server.
    <b>Application Server</b>
An application server is a set of executables that collectively interpret the the ABAP/4 programs.
Each application server has a profile called application server profile, that specifies its characteristics when it starts up and while it is running. It specifies:
    1. Number of processes and its types.
2.Amount of memory each process may use.
    3. Length of time a user is inactive before being automatically logged off.
If your ABAP/4 program requests information from the database, the application server will format the request and send it to the database server
    <b>Database Server</b>
The database server is a set of executables that accepts database requests from the application server.
These requests are passed on to the RDBMS (Relation Database Management System).
The RDBMS sends the data back to the application server.
The RDBMS  may run on database server’s computer or may be installed on its own computer.
The components of application server are dispatcher, dispatcher queue, work process.
All requests that come in from presentation servers are directed first to the dispatcher.
The dispatcher writes them to the dispatcher queue.
The dispatcher pulls the requests from the queue on a first-in, first-out basis.
Each request is then allocated to the first available work process.
A work process handles one request at a time.
The work process needs two memory areas, the user context and the roll area.
The user context is a memory area that contains the information about the user.
The roll area is a memory area that contains about the program execution.
    <b>User Context</b>
User context is a memory area that contains the characteristics of a user that is logged on the R/3 system.
    1)It holds,     user’s current settings.
    2. The users authorizations.
    3. The names of the programs the user is currently running.
When a user logs on, the user context is allocated for that logon. When logs off, it is freed.
    <b>Roll Area     </b>
A roll area is a memory that is allocated by a work process for an instance of a program.
It holds the information needed by R/3 about the program execution, such as:     1. The values of the variables
    2. The dynamic memory allocations
    3. The current program pointer.
Each time a user starts a program, a roll area is created for that instance of the program.
If two users are using the same program at the same time, two roll areas will exist-one for each user.
The roll area is freed when the program ends.
Both roll area and the user context play an important roll in dialog processing

    Hi:
It seems when you are starting RMAN it's executing some commands (one 'ALTER SESSION...'. It's seems to be a batch which has a bad value for SORT_AREA_SIZE. Find it and modify to a proper value as message shows. If you can't find start RMAN by calling directly the executable ($ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman or %ORACLE_HOME%/bin/rman.exe).

  • LOGICAL DATABASE IN HR ABAP PRPGRAMMING

    Hi Friends,
what is use of LOGICAL DATABASE IN HR ABAP PROGRAMMING
AND END-OF-SELECTION EVENT IN HR PROGRAMMING PROGRAMMING???
    regards,
    vijay.

    hi
    HR Logical Databases
In Human Resources (HR), the following logical databases can be used as a data source for HR InfoSets:
    PNP (PNPCE)
    PAP
    PCH
By selecting a logical database, you determine the HR data that can be reported on using an InfoSet.
    Logical Database PCH
This logical database generally enables you to report on all HR infotypes. However, you are advised not to use this logical database unless you want to report on Personnel Planning data.
    Logical Database PNP (or PNPCE)
Use logical database PNP to report on HR master data. It is possible to use logical database PCH to access this data, but PNP meets such reporting requirements more quickly because it is best suited to the task of selecting persons.
Logical database PNP enables you to access HR master data and infotypes from Personnel Planning. For example, you have the following options:
Reporting on the costs, number of attendees booked, and instructor for a business event on which an employee is booked
Reporting on working time and planned compensation for a position that an employee occupies
Reporting on the validity and proficiency of a qualification that an employee fulfils
From a technical perspective, this means you can use PNP to report on all of the infotypes that exist for objects (infotype 1000) that have a direct relationship (infotype 1001) with the Person object.
The ability to access infotypes from Personnel Planning using logical database PNP is a special feature that you can only use in the context of SAP Query and Ad Hoc Query. You cannot use this functionality for ABAP reports you programmed yourself.
You can also use logical database PNP to report on data from Personnel Time Management (infotypes 2000 to 2999) and Payroll (special payroll infotypes for the USA and customer infotypes; for more information, access Customizing for the Human Resources Information System and see Payroll Results).
    Logical Database PAP
Logical database PAP enables you to access data from Recruitment.

When you want to perform ddl statements in a (anonymous) PL/SQL block, you have to use dynamic SQL because ddl is not possible in pl/sql.
Dynamic sql means that you sort of execute ddl statements in a sql manner. To use dynamic sql, two options exist:
    - dbms_sql package : for oracle before 8i. To use this package is not always easy. Read about it carefully first before using.
    - Native Dynamic SQL : implemented in 8i and very easy to use. An example would be :
    declare
    lv_statement varchar2(32676);
    begin
    lv_statement := 'ALTER TABLE MY_TABLE DISABLE CONSTRAINT MY_TABLE_CK1';
    execute immediate lv_statement;
    lv_statement := 'ALTER TABLE MY_TABLE ENABLE CONSTRAINT MY_TABLE_CK1';
    execute immediate lv_statement;
    end;
    Good luck.

  • Query regarding standby database state when primary is down or un-reachable

    Thanks,
YojanaYou don't have exactly such option,
But you have alternate for it. Whenever standby is unreachable to primary then from standby alert log file you can see informational messages as RFS: Possible network disconnect with primary database , So you can write a script to grep those contents and to mail alert, so that you can sense whether any issue with primary database.

  • Order of execution of static { }  statements question

    Hi,
I have a question about the order of execution of static statements. Let's imagine the following Class B inheriting of Class A:
    public class A {
        static {  // My static code for A };
    public class B extends A {
        static { // My static code for B; };
}I know that static statements are executed when classes are loaded, but does Java guarantee an order of execution of static statements between inherited classed (like for constructors) or is it 'random' in that it depends which class is loaded first?
    Thanks,
    J.

    Jrm,
My advise with this and all such questions is "Suck it and see"...

  • Shrink Log file in log shipping and change the database state from Standby to No recovery mode

    Hello all,
I have configured sql server 2008 R2 log shipping for some databases and I have two issues:
can I shrink the log file for these databases: If I change the primary database from full to simple and shrink the log file then change it back to full recovery mode the log shipping will fail, I've seen some answers talked about using "No
Truncate" option, but as I know this option will not affect the log file and it will shrink the data file only.
I also can't create maintenance to reconfigure the log shipping every time I want to shrink the log file because the database size is huge and it will take time to restore in the DR site, so the reconfiguration
    is not an option :(
how can I change the secondary database state from Standby to No recovery mode? I tried to change it from the wizard and wait until the next restore for the transaction log backup, but the job failed and the error was: "the step failed". I need
to do this to change the mdf and ldf file location for the secondary databases.
    can any one help?

    1. can I shrink the log file for these databases: If I change the primary database from full to simple and shrink the log file then change it back to full recovery mode the log shipping will fail, I've seen some answers talked about using "No Truncate"
option, but as I know this option will not affect the log file and it will shrink the data file only.
I also can't create maintenance to reconfigure the log shipping every time I want to shrink the log file because the database size is huge
and it will take time to restore in the DR site, so the reconfiguration is not an option :(
    2. how can I change the secondary database state from Standby to No recovery mode? I tried to change it from the wizard and wait until the next restore for the transaction log backup, but the job failed and the error was: "the step failed". I need to do
this to change the mdf and ldf file location for the secondary databases.
    can any one help?

    1. If you change recovery model of database in logshipping to simple and back to full Logshipping will break and logs wont be resored on Secondary server as log chain will be broken. You can shrink log file of primary database but why would you need that
what is schedule of log backup. Frequent log backup is already taking care of log files why to shrink it and create performance load on system when log file will ultimately grow and since because instant file initilaization is not for Log files it takes time
to grow and thus slows performace.
You said you want to shrink as Database size is huge is it huge or does it have lots of free space. dont worry about data file free space it will eventually be utilized by SQL server when more data comes
    2. You are following wrong method changing state to no recovery would not even allow you to run select queries which you can run in Standby mode. Please refer below link to move Secondary data and log files

  • Is it possible to read a mySQL database from an ABAP report?

We have some information stored in a mySQL database which is now required on ABAP reports.
Is it possible to read the mySQL database from an ABAP report? I'm still a bit confused on that.
So far I have setup DBCO with information about the mySQL server using MMS as the DBS because mySQL was not an option. I have made sure we have the latest dbmssslib.dll installed.
When I try to run the following code
    EXEC SQL.
        CONNECT TO :con
    ENDEXEC.
I get error: SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
Then I have tried to connect using the function CHECK_CONNECTION_SDB.
I get the following messages in the return table:
    1     OS-AppServ:Windows NT
    2     dbmcli_neg: no_client_software
    3     dbmrfc_c_neg: no_client_software
    4     dbmrfc_s_neg: no_client_software
    5     sql_neg
    6     work_proc: 1
Does anyone know what I need to do to connect to the mySQL database.
    Thank you
    Karen

Thank you for your reply. I've gone through all the documentation you sent and much more and I'm still not sure what the problem is.
One thing that concerns me is that this all relates to MS SQL server and I'm trying to link to a mySQL database. Is this even possible?
Some posts talk about changing Oracle settings and having J2EE installed. Is this necessary to connect to a mySQL database via ABAP?
Which user should I enter into DBCO? Is it the mySQL server user or a SAP user? Does the person in charge of the mySQL database need to add any permissions for SAP to access the database or is that done by the user in DBCO?
Does anyone have any more advice?
    Thank you
    Karen
Also, does anyone know what the messages from the CHECK_CONNECTION_SDB function mean
    1 OS-AppServ:Windows NT
    2 dbmcli_neg: no_client_software
    3 dbmrfc_c_neg: no_client_software
    4 dbmrfc_s_neg: no_client_software
    5 sql_neg
    6 work_proc: 1
