Serial Packet Question: How to calculate CRC
Hi to all, i tryied to find an answer on how to calculate the CRC on a RS232 packet received, its really driving me crazy!
im a newby, learnt how to use labview reading on different forums, and i had managed to design really good apps, but im stucked in this, hope some one can help me...
ok, so im receiving 15byte packets constantly:

the provider for the hardware gave me the following code to calculate the CRC:

LabVIEW has all of the same programming primitives (loops, logical operators, comparisons, etc.) used in the above piece of code. You simply have to pick the pieces apart and write them using native LabVIEW constructs. If you are that unfamiliar with LabVIEW itself I suggest going through the online tutorials to help familiarize yourself with the basics.

the output of the program should be the CRC code, in this case the output is 101000110101110 where the last 5 digits are the CRC code which is the remainder of the message divided by the divisor. Can someone help me with this problem. Thanks a lot!!

I have Calday, Calmonth, Calyear all three objects.
Now my question is how I can achive this? On which i need to create hierarchy?
and how to calculate the YTD at day level.
Note:- in the selection calyear is mandatory. User wants to display as per year. So What infoobject I need to take in selection?
and the way to calculate YTD on Day (in the case also ,where user doesn't give the date in selection)

As per my understanding I think YTD means JAN to current date result. I means say if user enter 062005 then result in YTD should be from 012005 to 062005.
And to do this you need to write a customer exit variable where LOW field of internal table you will put JAN year and HIGH will contain month year entered by user.

Using Oracle 11gR2 on windows 7 client. I have a question on calculating sum() on multiple columns on different columns and store the results in a view. Unfortunately I could not post the problem here as it keeps on giving error "Sorry, this content is not allowed", without telling where or what it is! yr, mnth, region;I wouldn't recommend storing your data for year / month in 2 columns like that unless you have a really good reason. I would store it as a date column and add a check constraint to ensure that the date is always the first of the month, then format it out as you wish to the client.

How to calculate % based on totals of a characteristic

I have following query:
Sales org - S&OP - Channel - PSI - KeyFigure1 - % S&OPKF1 - % Channel KF1

Question is how to calculate the last two colums.
First colum should calculate the Keyfigure1 percentage based on the overall total of S&OP per salesorg (keep in mind that we have multiple sales orgs).
Last colum should calculate the Keyfigure1 percentage based on the total of Channel per salesorg/s&op group.
Can anyone please assist me how to do this?

To Calculate % Channel KF1 you can use 'Percentage of Result'(KeyFigure1).
To calculate % S&OPKF1 you can use ' Pecentage of Overall Result' (Keyfigure1).
These are functions are available in the Percentage Functions when you create a formula or a CKF.

I have collected a lot of electroencephalogram data, which looks like a continuous sine wave plus a noise signal. what i want to do now is to fit the data with the bilinear model as the attached jpg file. the problem is the parameters of the model are changing with the evolution of the signal. would someone like to tell me how to calculate the parameters in the bilinear model?

Bilinear_Model.jpg 33 KBI can point you in the right direction, but probably not answer your question really well. If you have the pro or full distribution of LabVIEW, you can use the curve fitting VIs to match any set of data to a theoretical curve. The curve fitting Express VI may do all you need to do (use the nonlinear option). To get the signal evolution, break your data into pieces and process each. If you need to average a bit, you can use a sliding window of your data for each analysis, moving the window less than the window width for each analysis.
There are a plethora of curve fitting techniques built into LabVIEW - matrix operations, linear and log linear fits, Levenberg-Marquardt methods, downhill simplex, etc. You will probably need to experiment a bit to get a stable
algorithm for your case. Check your literature for ways other people have done this. There may be an easy, stable method out there.
If you are unfamiliar with curve fitting techniques, or you do not have the pro or full versions of LabVIEW, I would recommend "Numercial Recipes in C" by Press et. al., published by Cambridge University Press. The chapter on Modeling of Data will get you going. The rest of the book will provide any background you need.
This was a very general answer. If you need something more specific, let me know. Be aware that this type of problem usually requires some trial and error to get right. The answers should be tightly scrutinized before being believed.

Sorry, if this reply seems like a products plug (which it is), but this is really how we solve this software engineering challenge at JKI...
At JKI, we create VI Packages (which are basically installers for LabVIEW instrument drivers and toolkits) of our reusable code (using the package building capabilities of VIPM Professional). We keep a VI Package Configuration file (that includes a copy of the actual packages) in each of our project folders (and check it into source code control just as we do for all our project files). We also use VIPM Enterprise to distribute new VI Packages over the network.
Also, as others have mentioned, we use the JKI TortoiseSVN Tool to make it easy to use TortoiseSVN directly from LabVIEW.

HOW TO CALCULATE AGE & YEARS OF SERVICE means for example
I AM USING PNPCE LDB.
(1) whose age is greater than 52.833 years with 7.833 years of service, with annual rate of pay $170,000 or more, or
(2) age plus employment service is 65 or more, with annual rate of pay of $ 170,000 or more.
Note that the $ 170,000 parameter would be a variable that could change annually when this report would be generated. In the past, age and service value were determined as of the run date. The determination date would also be a variable that would change when the report would be generated.

How to calculate network bandwidth for dataguard 11.2
Hi all,
have a customer who needs to setup a new data guard environment in release 11.2.0.2. Primary site will be in Italy, standby site will be in New York.
He would like to know the network bandwidth between primary and standby site needed to obtain the maximum performance in redo transport with or without compression option.
I found a lot of threads and docs indicating some formulas but none of them explained how to:
- calculate network bandwidth on a rac system (having a single instance standby database)
- calculate network bandwidth in case of use redo transport compression
- calculate cpu consumption if using redo transport compression
Could you please give any advice?

customer made ma a lot of technical question just like the following:
- which are the main factors determining the 30% overhead indicated in the network bandwidth calculation
Required bandwidth = ((Redo rate bytes per sec. / 0.7) * 8) / 1,000,000 = bandwidth in Mbps
- how much bandwidth will I gain if I apply redo transport compression and why redo transport compression and why usually the gzip utility gives me 5X less and oracle compression gives me a maximum of 50-60% of compression even if it uses the same engine of zlib compression as indicated below?
Data Guard redo transport compression uses the same zlib compression engine at level 1 as gzip -1. To estimate the compression ratio you can achieve using Data Guard redo transport compression, first compress an archived redo log file with gzip:
$ gzip -1 <archive redo logfile>.arc
Then use the gzip --list option to explicitly display the compression ratio:
$ gzip --list <archive redo logfile.arc>.gz
Note: Use gzip version 1.3.3 or later. Refer to www.gzip.org for the latest information on gzip.

According to your description, you want to calculated the increment percentage and difference between two fiscal year week within each week. Right?
In this scenario, since we need to do calculation based on values between dynamically generated cells, we can't simply use expression to achieve this goal. In this scenario, we need to use custom code to record the value for fiscal 14 and fiscal 15, then
we can calculate the difference and percentage within the column group. We have tested your case in our local environment, please refer to the steps and screenshots below:
