SerialVersionUID error
hey there!
I opened a file with Eclipse SDK 3.2.2, and a certain warning appears:
The serializable class xxx does not declare a static final serialVersionUID field of type long.
After hitting Ctrl-1, a few options appeared, one of them being Add generated serial version ID.
Clicking that, a new line appeared into my class:
private static final long serialVersionUID = -318066740353445032L;Well ,I thought that with this done, I solved the problem, but the warning still remains there..... what can I do??
Answer found:
I had to rebuild that file again so Eclipse could interpret that problem as "solved". Easy as pie :)

SerialVersionUID exception error
I'm getting the following error, when I use WSAD to send a Document from a WSAD server to a Tomcat client. This code was working fine when I was talking from Tomcat to Tomcat. How can I get this fixed ?

The Nullpointer Excp. normally indicates that
a variable has not been intialized during the readObject-method.
If not, provide a static final long serialVersionUID by hand. Use serialver from the jdk to get the value. then you could suppress this error. But you have to overwrite readObject to do intialisation for every new (added after serialver was used) Non-Standard(Standard: int,boolean ..) variable like java.util.list or so.

thanksI've seen umarshalling error when there is a difference between the client and server version. Is there a patch applied? I would recommend to uninstall the existing one and install if from Workspace. (this will ensure that you've the correct client version)

Have you tried Cancelling the release before adding the version?
Select the active version of the IDOC Segment and cancel its release first. Only then you will be able to add a version.

You need to follow below steps...
add a java parameter to the OSB server. Go to domains\osb_domain\bin folder and edit the setDomainEnv file and add this line to this file. set JAVA_PROPERTIES=-Dplatform.home=%WL_HOME% -Dwls.home=%WLS_HOME% -Dweblogic.home=%WLS_HOME% -Dcom.sun.xml.namespace.QName.useCompatibleSerialVersionUID=1.0
Step 2 is to replace the bpel jars in the bpel transport ear. Go folder osb_10.3\lib\transports and open bpel10gtransport.ear and replace the following jar files orabpel.jar, orabpel-common.jar , xmlparserv2.jar and oc4jclient.jar with the ones you can find in the soa suite 10.1.3 home.
But still i am getting the error.
I am using WLS (10.0).Is it compatible with bpel-10g protocol, because i have already called a sync BPEL process with http protocol and it worked?This thread talks about WLS(9.2)

I'm having the exact same problem. Working with Weblogic 8.1 SP6 and getting this strange message whenever I'm calling my data service.
I've followed the guidlines given on the URL posted here, and still getting the same message.

We are trying to deploy an ear file in Weblogic 9.2 and we are getting the following error in the console -

Not able to run my first Servlet..... 404 error!!!
Hi,
I am new to Java.
I am trying to create a small servlet application. I am using Tomcat 5.5 server and eclipse for this.
I have first writtern a HTML form which on submission is redirected to a servlet that displays the information submitted. but i am not able to evn open the html file through browser, i am getting 404 error.
My html codes and Servlet codes are inside the htmlform package...
When i type http://localhost:8080/htmlform/form.html i am gettig 404 error... Also let me know if any thing is wrong with the codes...

Have you ever been able to run this report successfully? If yes, I would restart Reporting and Analysis services and see if it'll solve the issue?
Also, is there any special characters such as !, &, % in the report? If yes, I would try to remove these and re-run the report.

Anyone pls help. It's bit urgent. Thanks.I was using iReport v0.5.0 and it uses jasperreports-0.6.7.jar (v0.6.7) of
JasperReports. I compiled and i deployed my application in BEA weblogic server. I got the error listed below. Only after i saw your
response explaining that iReport was the issue, i checked the iReport lib directory and found this version of jasperreport jar.
iReport creates a java source file which is used to a jasper file.
iReport will link in the v0.6.7 version of jasperReports. When you
deploy your web application it will recognize this version through the compiled jasper file and give you the InvalidClassException, even
though you only have one jasperReport jar deployed with your war file.
The way i fixed this problem was to create my web application with the
jasperreport jar comes with iReport.

Whenever there is a change in the class properties or attributes,
but server is using the old class file and in the jar file there is a change in class, so you get this InvalidClassException since there is a different version of class on server. -
NotSerializable error while trying to write arraylist
I am getting a NotSerializable error while trying to write an arraylist to a file.
Here's the part of the code causing problem

I inentionally did not write the whole error stack because it was way too long and I ran out of characters. But line 1475 is where I do the writeObject call. I also goet some weird not serialized exceptions before on some other classes that are not being written to the file or are not part of the object that I am writing. I serialized those classes and now it's this unknown object that's causing problems.
Edit: The problem may be due to the JFileChooser I am using to select the file as it is a non-serializable object. But I am not trying to write it to the file and in fact am just writing the arrayLists and BigInteger as objects to the file.

If you get NotSerialzableException it means the objects are being written. So they are reachable from the objects you're writing.
Edit: The problem may be due to the JFileChooser I am using to select the file as it is a non-serializable object.JFileChooser implements Serializable, but you're right, you shouldn't try to serialize it. But clearly this is the current problem. Somewhere you have a reference to it reachable via the object(s) you are serializing.
I suspect that Node and Edge inner classes and that you aren't aware that inner classes contain a hidden reference to their containing class. The solution for serializaition purposes is to make them static nested classes, or outer classes.
