Serious blurry display

hi everybody! it feels great to find such a warmful place when you're at a loss! wandered around to find an answer in the boards about my current problem but couldn't find it.
my vintage first(or is it 2nd?) edition bondi blue ran smoothly 'til now, though i mainly use it now as a backup set running on a steady 8.6 to burn archive cd's, print stuff etc.
tonight i started downloading about 4gig files from my powerbook to the bondi (which holds a 8gig HD) but when i came back (after 3 gigs transferred succesfully) the bondi display was surprisingly blurry, like thick goggles blurry, though the brightness, colors or general looks were ok and fonctions seemed to be fine too (i rebooted but it looked the same then shut it off -but didn't dare to re-start it yet).
other sign: ventilation was pretty loud.
could this occurred because of memory limitations? (as the HD was maybe already almost full- though i guess a message would have warned me about it) or is it an obvious goodbye-sign from a dying screen tube?
if so, is it still possible to use the machine thru an xtra screen or should i start looking for another pal?
thanks for your help

you could try zapping the pram but i dont think its going 2 do much its on start up hold command option p r until you hear the chime 3 times but persionaly it sounds a little more like the analog board if you want to check you can pop off the back off your imac and plug in a external moniter and see if its clear if it is you found your problem and if it is so what it would still have a good processor just use an external moniter.

  • Blurry Display

The display on my iMac G5 has become blurry and when I move the cursor all the way to the right, the screen shifts slightly to the left, then back again when I move the mouse to the left. Any thoughts? I tried resetting the PRAM with no luck on this issue. Is this something that needs repair by Apple?
Thanks for any input on this message.

my phone just lost its display a month ago.. this is a one year old phone..i did a hard reset and it went back to its original settings.. unfortunately the image display for the main camera is blurry now.. the front camera is still ok.. is this a hardware or a software problem?

in some sites like gmail, there are 3 different types of view: mobile, basic html, standard html, in some sites you have to scroll down to buttom and tap on desktop version. There are similar tabs, buttoms on other sites(which has mobile site) too.
Another e.g, in yahoomail, when you open an email, there is an option to view in full html version.

  • Blurry displays.

I started up my aging G5 this morning and now have a really annoying problem with the displays. (I installed Safari 3.0 Beta yesterday if that is at all relevant) I have 2 Quicksilver LCD 17"- one running through a DVI -> ADC converter.
    There are 2 problems:
1- displays are blurry- but not consistently across the screen - They seem sharp in the middle and the corners, but blurry in other places. (there are no other electrical devices on my desk)
2- As I move the cursor left to right - the display moves as well! by about 5px and in the opposite dierection to the cursor.
    - when I unplug 1 monitor the movement stops but the screens are still blurry in patches.
I'm assuming it's software related as the problems both occurred overnight simultaneously (I have restarted several times)
I've had this machine since the birth of G5s (1.6GHz) and have never had any issues with it.
The problem is particularly bad as I am trying to wean the studio off the Windows machines and this is definitely not helping my cause at all.

  • Fuzzy, blurry display

so, when I first got the computer I installed panther and everything was fine until the computer went to sleep. I woke it up and the display was sort of fuzzy and it got worse and worse. I restarted the computer and it was fine. I tried to find out what was wrong, but found out nothing. I just decided to live with it until I got tiger(I thought that would fix it)
I installed tiger and nothing. How can I fix it?

  • BBM display picture is blurry! Can not rotate and zoom. Update please

Hi.. Please help me.. I just bought blackberry q10 but I really don't like how the BBM works. How to fix a blurry display picture on bbm? I'm using blackberry for a long time and I need to share and update my pictures to my family and my friends which are mostly live in another country... Please please fix it.... It can't rotate and zoom too... I tried all pictures to put on my display picture but still blur.. Even the picture I took from Q10 itself which is have 8mp but still blur too.. my friend asked me why my pictures always blur like i took pics with a bad quality camera.. It's not cool thank you before

This seems to be an issue for some but not others and I haven't yet seen a resolution. It only happens with display pictures. If you send a picture via BBM it should work fine.

  • Problems displaying in IE

While I love iWeb's ease of use, it seems to have serious problems displaying on IE. There is really no point blaming IE, since it is the dominant browser and most people who will see our sites will use it. The point of iWeb should be to allow people to communicate broadly and effectively, not just to Mac & Safari users.
Lists do not work well. The indents do not display properly. Text in boxes shift alignment and location. Bullets show up with different sizes. I have had to hand indent and line space all the lists in the sites I make, which is a mess and not scaleable.
    See fieldsforkidsmamk.org.
Are there any workarounds or fixes?
The other obvious issues with iWeb are worth noting:
    * inconsistent display in browsers -- pages look different in Safari and Firefox, even on the Mac (let alone IE)
    * difficulty adding html code
    * page names must be identical to nav names, so pages with multiple words (Get Involved) display urls as /Get%20Involved (can't be corrected unless you have Get_Involved as a header.)
    * need to publish whole site for any change
    * need to publish all sites for each change to any site
    * can't change color, display, location, function etc for Nav
I assume everyone is aware of these problems. The question is, what to do? Grin and bear it? Any help, tips or ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

You can fix this the same way you add html code, by post processing.
    * need to publish all sites for each change to any
    site
You can fix this by separating your sites into different Domain files so you only publish one at a time.
Contrary to the other response, "encoding" is not connected to the points you made. There is never any need to add a UTF-8 "tag" to an iWeb page. If you see question marks or Â's when your page is displayed on any browser, Mac or PC, then you may need to fix your ftp or server settings.

A blurry display is often caused by a slight Zoom, which can be turned on by some keyboard operations, "Universal Access" system preference settings, or Control-Scrollwheel. Using Command-Option-8 to zoom in then out, turns off Zoom no matter how it was turned on. Apparently, that was not your problem. Excess contrast can be caused by the "Enhance contrast" slider in the "Seeing"pane of "Universal Access" system preference. These problems happend just after login. The login window will be OK, but the display goes bad just after login. If the login window is bad, try a Safe Boot

  • Which method to reinstall a clean version of Mavericks?

I'm getting thoroughly confused as to the method(s) afforded to me to reinstall Mavericks cleanly. My machine came pre-loaded with 10.9.0. Since buying a new customised iMac four weeks ago I've been struggling not only with a blurry display but also with myriad bugs. I've been so busy with all of that that I've not had time yet to acquire and install my own additional apps. I've tried one Mavericks update, from the Apps Store, bringing it to 10.9.2 but it made zilch difference to any of my problems.
Using the Web to bone up on how to download a fresh copy of Mavericks and then to put it on to a bootable USB drive has revealed that there are several methods for doing this. However, each involves multiple procedures and if you don't do them just right you risk ending up with a dead machine. But amongst the many articles I looked at was this:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/2056561/how-to-make-a-bootable-mavericks-install -drive.html
in which Dan Frakes states in a section called 'A note on installer compatibility' that owners of Macs that came with Mavericks pre-installed aren't allowed to download a new copy of Mavericks with which to do as they wish. Instead, only an 'Internet Recovery' install is permitted.
Then, on these forums I've seen reference to this, which seems to suggest that a copy of Mavericks, other than the one being used, is stored on the Mac and simply needs to be envoked:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph14243?viewlocale=en_US
    Errh, or does it?
Going back to the macworld article, is Frakes's contention true? Could I only envoke an Internet Recovery (and that only), where presumably all control will taken away from me and a download-and-install done all in one operation? (There might be issues in my case, as my internal HD's partitioned).
I've of course been doing Time Machine backups along the way but TM backups will only deal with the system disk's contents as delivered initially, including any bugs or damaged files that might have been there at that time. Only a clean install of some kind, from a newly-acquired copy of the Mavericks file, will be the sensible thing to do, therefore, if I want to try the fix the current problems with my Mac.
But then there's the Apple Support note about using Recovery for reinstalling the OS. What makes this different to an Internet Recovery? In this case, is Recovery done from a good copy of Mavericks stored on the Mac (seems very unlikely), or is this in fact the same as Dan Frakes's Internet Recovery, except that the Apple Support note doesn't go on to say that the Internet will be automatically accessed?
Has anyone using these forums been in this situation yet and discovered the ins and outs of trying to download and install a clean version of Mavericks, when the current OS on their Mac is already Mavericks?
Going to the Apps Store (at which I've registered) and looking up the description of the Mavericks Installer file there, a small button on the webpage indicates that it's free and, certainly in my case, there's no wording there to indicate that I'll not be permitted to download it. But perhaps that won't happen until I actually try to do it?!

    Kappy,
Sorry I've not responded for a few days. I've been busy with important issues outside of computing.
I've read your response many times over and although I still find it confusing, it appears that at long last you're beginning to agree with me - that machines that already have a copy of Mavericks pre-loaded are a special case, in that with them you can't just go to the OSX Mavericks Installer at the Apple Store and download the file there, with a view to performing a reinstall of it and/or to make a bootable copy of it, and then expect it to work. Instead, the only options available are to use what's called 'OSX Recovery', or 'Internet Recovery', two mechanisms that are especially built into the Mavericks Mac itself. Now, I might still have got this wrong but I think that the former will restore a copy version of Mavericks on the machine as loaded by the factory (not from Time Machine), whereas the latter will specifically download a new copy of Mavericks from a dedicated Apple server (not the same file as found at the Apps Store). Either mechanism will require the Internet to be accessed.
From all of the research on this that I've done by looking through other postings in these and other forums, there's widespread misunderstanding of this, in my opinion. From what I've read, I think the majority who've written about it have got it wrong and only one or two have realised that, for current post-Mavericks machines, what you're actually permitted to download is quite limited and specific. Indeed it's very easy to get this so wrong that if you attempt it without truly understanding it you can easily end up with a dead machine and no copy at all of Mavericks! Both OSX Recovery and Internet Recovery require the system disk to be erased before the replacement copy of Mavericks is added to it, but if something goes wrong with the download, for example, or you find you're not permitted to download the file anyway (because you've requested the wrong Mavericks file), you've basically had it!
Why on earth Apple has devised such a complex mechanism in the first place is quite beyond me. I can only presume that, because hard install media (CDs, DVDs) has now been consigned to the past, Apple's become paranoid about the possibility of people downloading copies of the OS to put on their own media and it then possibly getting illegally distributed. But Mavericks is hardly likely to work on a non-genuine Apple machine anyway, and Mac-ers are allowed to now update from earlier versions of the OS for free, so where's the problem? I just cannot fathom why Apple doesn't simply provide a ready-made USB memory stick with a copy of the OS on it when someone buys a Mac. There are surely ways of locking the stick both to keep it safe from erasure or corruption and to associate it, by way of serial.no., with only a specific machine?
Anyway, back to the problem in hand. My understanding - and I'll be the first to hold up my hands and admit that I'm a complete idiot if I'm wrong - is that post-Mavericks machines (such as mine) incorporate a normally-hidden zone on the system drive (or system partition) that holds: a presumed good copy of Mavericks, a Disk Utility, a minimal form of the Safari browser, and the Restore mechanism for Time Machine. If, therefore, you wish to reinstall the OS from this copy, then you would envoke specifically OSX Recovery. You'd type Cmd + R during a restart. You'd need to assume that the copy of the OS (not the copy you've been using) is therefore good and totally uncorrupted (which it might not be!), but at least this recovery method should be relatively fast. My guess is that the Internet access requirement for this is purely for authorisation purposes (reading the machine's serial no. and doing a quick check on the hardware) and nothing else.
Incidentally, for both recovery methods, Apple strongly advises that you ensure that your router is configured to DHCP. Look very carefully in:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718
I assume this is because of the simplified nature of the Internet access by the minimal browser contained in the Recovery zone and also the presumed minimal status of the Network software on the machine. This unfortunately will mean a separate and very awkward additional task for those of us who are not using DHCP. And then a repeat of that later on, to put the router back to its normally-required state. Jeez, all this palaver just to try to end up with a decent copy of the OS on the machine!
My understanding is that OSX Recovery renders you effectively an on-machine backup copy of Mavericks but with all your files and settings remaining intact. (At one stage I had a suspicion that the backup copy was a download from an Apple server, but now I'm not so sure and instead I think it's from a copy of the OS kept in the Recovery zone on the HD from Day One). Bear in mind that if the Recovery zone, or specifically OSX Recovery, has become corrupted or there are bad files amongst the copy OS, all you'll end up doing is putting another corrupted version of Mavericks back. There's really no substitute, in my view, for a proper clean install, and so for this you need to envoke Internet Recovery instead, the alternative mechanism.
Internet Recovery follows a similar procedure, except that you use Cmd + Option + R during the first restart. You follow the instructions through, and before Recovery attempts to connect the machine with the Apple server you're required to wipe the entire system drive. Unfortunately if you've partitioned your system disk, then this will cause a problem, possibly causing the procedure to freeze (see the above kb article). So you've no real option but to save any precious files in them and to delete those partitions beforehand, reconstructing them later on, when hopefully the full Internet Recovery will have succeeded. After the server performs a couple of checks on your machine the 'guaranteed clean' version of Mavericks is then downloaded, straight into the system drive, along with a copy of the Recovery zone. My assumption is therefore that the Internet Recovery download will be at least 13GB, if not more. OSX Recovery, by comparison, should be in the region of 6GB. Anyone on a slow Internet connection will therefore experience some very frustrating hours, if not days, waiting for the Internet Recovery download to complete. Even after that there'll be many minutes before the whole process ends and the machine finally boots back up into the Welcome screen.
Incidentally, Apple seem to say that the version you're given in the download is the version found already on the machine. So, if you've originally had 10.9.0 and you've in the interim updated to 10.9.2, does the server give you 10.9.0 again, or 10.9.2? I guess it doesn't matter too much, as you're probably going to want to download the updates and any missing iLife apps again anyway - but it'd be nice to know early on. Another ambiguity, in my view.
Looking back at your last statement in your posting of 25th March, Kappy, what you've written there is of course true  - you're not permitted to download the Mavericks Installer file from the Apps Store, and that any other non-legitimate copy elsewhere on the hard drive will ultimately fail - but with an important caveat: Yes, you're not permitted to download Mavericks from the Apps Store in that instance, but you are still permitted to get a different and bigger file (the 'full' file which includes all of Recovery) from a different Apple server elsewhere. And that's Internet Recovery.
Now, do tell me, have I understood this properly? If you reckon you're truly up to speed on this and you think I'm still wrong over one or two things, do point them out.
Actually, when I performed my recent update to 10.9.2 the screen went blank halfway through the download and remained so for some time. (The download took over 30 mins). It did nonetheless appear to complete. However, my working copy of Mavericks now seems even more buggy than the version supplied on the machine originally. So, this is why I'm seriously contemplating a full clean install now (Internet Recovery). At the time of the update, my router was configured to be using fixed addressing, not DHCP, so possibly that caused a big hiccup in the download. Somehow, I can't believe that that would be a requirement for everyday updating of the OS and apps, though. That'd be ridiculous.

Missing in this equation were the version of Premiere Elements that you were using and the computer operating system on which it was running. But...
The deed is done. But.....Until now and after you went ahead and moved to version 12, we now learn what version of Premiere Elements you were using. We still do not know the computer operating system involved.
You just said Premiere Elements 10. Premiere Elements 10 is hit by a serious known display issue if the computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card/graphics card. In this issue, the only remedy is to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. The description of the problem and how to do the roll back are described in one of the Announcements at the top of this forum. What video card/graphics card does your computer use?
On another front, Adobe will be releasing a new version of Premiere Elements any day now. No one but Adobe knows the feature set for the new version. That type of information is announced at the moment of release of the new version.
So the remedy to the problem that you presented in this thread could have been...
    1. Rolling back the NVIDIA GeForce driver version to about May 2013 if possible (Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, may not be possible)
    2. Move to another version of Premiere Elements (which you did)
I offer the above for consideration so that you can review your decisions. We are pleased to learn that Premiere Elements 12/12.1 works for you.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions and ask for clarifications, but remember that the answers are in the details.

  • Lenovo e540 flaws/complaint, just my device or normal

    Hello,
Excuse me for my somewhat poor English, but I hope it is still understandable.
I've been using the e540 for a few weeks now and I've noticed a few problems and complaints and was wondering if it is a normal problem or that my device is suffering some manufacturing flaws. Also I'm wondering if some of these are covered by the warranty.
    1. The screen bezels seems to be scratching the area above and below the keyboard. It seems to be the exact area where the display goes over to the bezels
    2. The audio from the 3.5 audio jack seems to give some random static noice when playing flash video's (eg. youtube)
    3. The corners are quite sharp, and it's constantly scratching my wrist when I'm moving my fingers to type.
    3. The touchpad gesturing in w8 seems to randomly go off until I reopen the touchpad setting.
    5. Display on integrated settings eems really blurry/washy, most notably text is definitely not crisp
    6. Disk usage ist 100% most of the time, making the device sluggish, but this seems to be a windows problem
I was hoping I could get some advice, since the customer service wouldn't reply. I still have a week to return this product but I really like the imput devices, battery life as well as the fps I get in games, considering the price I paid, but these "issues" are really starting to annoy me.

For the noise problem, the new bios update 2.13 seems to include a fix ( check at the changelog) - altough i haven't tested it because it probably won't be downgrade-able and doesn't support  disabling the build-in FN+C/S shortcuts - which makes the computer pain in the ass for using.
The noise is coming when using  hardware GPU accelerated apps or games.
About the bezels, it's good for me. But i can see "fingerpints" from the keyboard to the display...
    Corners - no problem here.
Touchpad is working fine on Win 8.1 for me.
About the blurry display, i belive you don't have this problem in every app. And you have a Full HD screen.
It's because windows has turned on app/font rescale to 125%. It's to make all the apps/icons/fonts a bit bigger and easyer to be seen. But some apps doesn't support it  quite good, and when they're rescaled they look blurry.
You can try playing with different options and change the seetings by right clicking on the desktop --> screen resolution-->Make text and other things larger or smaller.
From there you have an options to choose between 100/125/150% scale.
Or custom. Try playing with it. If you put it on 100%, there would be no blury font's but everything would be small. This is per-app problem.

  • "file corrupt" error message when running full installer - normal installer won't work either.

I was having serious problems displaying images/video, so uninstalled so I could reinstall. Big mistake - ever since I've done this, FF absolutely won't install. The normal install .EXE(I'm using Windows 7) always gets to about a millimeter to the left in the status bar of where it crosses from "downloading" to "installing." I then tried the full installer in all 3 versions of English, all of which simply pop up a window saying "file is corrupt" with no explanation or options. Please help. I work from home and absolutely have to use FF as my browser for my job, and I'm missing an entire shift today because of it. Thanks!

  • Develop mode intermediately "Blurs" the picture

Whenever I drag a setting in develop mode, my image briefly blurs and then becomes crisp again. And sometimes, the blurred image is shifted a few pixels to the right mometarily, causing even more of a distraction. This intermediate display really strains my eyes and causes me to take breaks when developing a large number of pictures.
It would be MUCH better for me if the intermediate blurry display was NOT presented, even if it takes a moment to present the final crisp image.

It is 'pixel doubling'. PS also does it. Search this forum for other threads and all the arguments.

  • IMovie Freezes All The Time when I have video clips in my iphoto why ??

I am soooo stressed out I am trying to find a way to keep my iphoto movie clips in iphoto but when I do that I can't open my iMovie it will just freeze and I get the beach ball of death ! Is there a way to fix that other than deleting all my videos from iphoto ? If that's what I have to do what is the point of having iphoto to organize anything or imovie for that matter; if I can't even use it without encountering problems.

Maybe a 24 inch HD LED introduction will come after a bit, and if that were the case, I would hate myself for buying a 23 ACD now.

It will be two weeks after you buy a current model....;)
Seriously, new displays can't be far off. It's been several years since the current line up was introduced and the displays are now the "oldest" products in the Apple lineup...
