Server 2008 TS - some client could not connect to the server

Hi guys,
I have a Server 2008 x64 Terminal Server with license server (some machine) and installed device CALs.
I can connect with Windows 7 client to Terminal Server by RDP (TS assign device CAL to every connected machine automatically) without problem, but I get this error message if I try connection with Motorola (Symbol) MC8080 mobile scanners:
"Because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer.
Very that you are logged on the network, and then try connecting again."
I tried different settings by KB2477176 and activate/deactivate server, but it didn't solve the problem.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2477176/hu
(These scanners can connecto to another Terminal Server.)
Is it client or server-side issue?
Have you another idee?
Regards,
Gabor

Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Please again cross check whether you have properly configured certificate attached with the server. Because the error which you are facing is generally due to corrupted certificate on server side. As you have already tried, I again want you to back up the registry
setting and then remove the X509 certificate registry key under below mention path, restart the computer and reactivate the RD Licensing Server.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM
You can also refer below article for additional information.
How to resolve the issue “Remote Desktop Disconnected” or “Unable to
Connect to Remote Desktop (Terminal Server)”
Hope it helps!

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 in my local machine. However, I kept running into errors with the following error message:
"The MOF Compiler could not connect with the WMI Server. This is either because of a semantic error such as an incompatibility with the existing WMI repository or an actual error such

I also ran "rundll32 wbemupgd, UpgradeRepository" to rebuild WMI repository, it doesn't help either. I got the same error message.
Any ideas what settings I need to change in order to ensure a successful installation of SQL Server 2008?

Solution given by Connect MS is:
Possibly the issue was caused by uninstalling from add-remove programs - at any rate, using aaron bertrand's suggestion below fixed the issue. Also of note - I used the local admin for the install.
    http://sqlblog.com/blogs/aaron_bertrand/archive/2009/02/20/the-xp-sp3-msxml6-sp2-sql-server-debacle.aspx
yes - remove msxml6 and any other half installed portion of sql 2008 and REBOOT and install sql

    Hi,
According to the error message, it seems that you used certificate-based authentication methods and the non-domain computers has no Trusted Root Certificate for the CA that enrolled the certificate for the NPS.

  • CS5 - Contribute could not connect because the server is down

we have a client who has site hosted with us. They are using Contribute CS5 to connect to our web server and make changes to their site. They've been using Contribute for a month when all of a sudden they started receiving the error:
Contribute could not connect because the server is down or not accepting connections. Please contact your administrator.
Our server is up and running, their site is up, their ftp password is not locked and network said they can see can see end to end FTP transactions, logins and authentications. Communications between the application and the server is being allowed through all the various firewalls and devices along the way.
I've done some research but cannot find a definitive resolution. Any help with your product would be appreciated.

Can you please try clearing the Contribute preferences once?
    In Windows -
    Quit Contribute.
Go  to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local  Settings\Application Data\Adobe\ and delete the Contribute CS5 folder.  (In Windows Vista or Windows 7, go to  C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\ and delete the Contribute  CS5 folder.)
    Also, run reg delete "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Contribute 6" /f
    In Mac -
    Quit Contribute.
Go to Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ and delete Contribute CS5 folder.
Also, go to Users/<username>/Library/Preferences and delete Adobe Contribute 6 Preferences file.
Note: Doing this will remove all the existing connections in Contribute. It will be like a fresh installtion of Contribute.

  • Contribute could not connect because the server is down"

My client tries to connect to the website with Contribute and
gets the error "Contribute could not connect because the server is
down" however I connect with no problems, using Contribute or
    Dreamweaver.
I sent him a new connection key but the same error.
Only problem I ever have is that sometimes I get a "can't
save files to shared something-or-other" on exit after
administrating, but I don't know if that's related or not - it
never seems to affect anything at my end.
    Please help! Thanks

    OK, problem solved here:
The access denied or file does not exist error was being
caused by the fact there was a 0KB index file somehow.
Once we got rid of that we still had the "Contribute could
not connect because the server is down or not accpeting
    connections" error to get round.
I had previously asked my client to go in an change the FTP
settings in the Advanced screen to be Choose FTP server settings
manually and select Use Passive FTP to connect to the server and
make sure Use FTP Performance Optimization is not selected. I don't
think this was ever done (and if it had been it would have saved me
HOURS of time spent trying to diagnose this problem).
Today I ended up backing up every contribute related file and
folder on the server to my local machine then deleting them. After
having done that I asked my client to create a new connection using
the FTP details (not a connection key). That still didn't work so I
got them to (and this time they did it) change the advanced FTP
settings as above and BINGO! they can now publish.
I'm guessing that if I had sent a connec tion key with the
same settings specified in the Advanced FTP then it still would
    have worked.
I hope this saves someone else some time. I am going to have
a few beers now to celebrate.

    Hi Kanchan,
So on each computer, you create a local user account that is a member of the Administrators group, and use the same account and password on each machine(controller and Agent), am I right?
Could you enable the detailed log message?

  • The MOF Compiler could not connect with the WMI server

I am trying to add node2 to SQL  cluster (2008)  However, I kept running into errors with the following error message:
"The MOF Compiler could not connect with the WMI Server. This is either because of a semantic error such as an incompatibility with the existing WMI repository or an actual error such as the failure of the WMI Server to start".
I checked on the WMI services, they are started and running.renamed the WMI repository.  but nothing worked .
Any idea what settings I need to change in order to ensure a successful instalation and add node 2 to sql cluster.

    Hi,
Did SQL Server failed during installation and you somehow brought services online. Or it failed and next time you executed it succeeded IMO this error pops up because of remnants of failed installation on Node 1. With cluster specially if Installation on
node 1 fails you should uninstall completely and remove all files related to SQL Server and then proceed.
Have a look at below connect, see workaround and information posted by MS
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/356258/the-mof-compiler-could-not-connect-with-the-wmi-server

    Hi,
Customer can't connect to the Conference, while joining they get a error "Could not connect to the server". We tried "Oracle Beehive Conferencing" with at least 12 Customers only 2 were able to connect. All 10 Customer reported the same issue.
    Thank you,

Ports 80/443 are open by default on all systems, 5224 is required by the Beehive Desktop conference client. If customer is trying to connect using Desktop client then they need to check if 5224 port is closed by any firewall running on the system.

  • Server.app "Could not connect to the server."

I just downloaded and installed Mountain Lion (the day after its release).  It seems fine so far.
The next day I decided to install Mac OS X Server, so I dished out $20 and downloaded it from the App Store.
"setting up your server is incredibly simple" - Yeah okay. This is exactly what I do:
    1) Open server. The "Set up your server" screen comes up.
    2) Click "Continue".
    3) Click "Agree".
    4) Authenticate
I get a dialog box that slides down and says, "Could not connect to the server." The only option is "OK".
    5) I select Manage->Connect to server..., and choose "This mac" from the list and click "Continue". It brings me back to the same screen that I started with.
    6) Repeat 1-4. Same results, except that the application exits (gracefully - but with no feedback).
There aren't many options at all and I can see nothing else I can even try. I'm on a Mac Pro connected wirelessly to a Time Capsule.  I also have a MacBook Pro, which curiously got further than I could get on the Mac Pro.  Both computers are connected wirelessly to the same network and configured the same (as far as I can tell).  The Mac Pro has far superior hardware compared to the MacBook Pro.  (MP: 6-Core 3.33 Xeon / 24GB RAM/ 1TB HD / MBP: 1 Core2 Duo 2.4 GHz, 4 MB RAM, 160 GB HD).  Both computers are running Mountain Lion.
I'm completely new to using OS X Server.  I figured I could learn something with it for only $20.  If I left out any important details, please let me know.
There's no documentation out there for this new product and I could find nobody else who has had any similar issues. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It works now but here's the thing...
When I was at home with my Mac Pro on the wireless is when it wouldn't work.  I was able to install and get further on my MacBook Pro (which is much older) on the same wireless.
I brought my Mac Pro to work (different LAN), connected it to the wired connection, and tried the Server software.  Same results - "Could not connect to server."
I had a few other issues with crashing and for some reason my Terminal was displaying "brucetablet:" at the command prompt.  I bought the computer used and it came with Lion pre-installed.  I upgraded to Mountain Lion and it just seemed like a lot of weirdness, so I decided to wipe the hard drive and do a clean install of Mountain Lion.
After the clean install, I tried again and it seems like it works just fine.
That annoying "brucetablet:" is still there though (which I guess is a topic for another thread).

  • Could not connect to the server because the name or password is not correct

Everyday I use Command + K to bring up the "Connect to Server" dialog, select the server from "Favorite Servers", click the Connect button, receive a prompt to provide my credentials to access the network share, then the share mounts and I access the files on it.
Starting yesterday I no longer get the prompt asking me to provide the domain, username and password, it just tries to connect to the server then reports the following error:
"Could not connect to the server because the name or password is not correct."
I've restarted my Mac but still does the same thing. I'm able to connect to other server shares just fine, prompts me for the username and password, but this one particular server just will not prompt me for the username and password.
I've done the following to try and resolve it but without any success in doing so:
    I've restarted the server
I ran Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utility
Ran Keychain Access --> First Aid --> Repair
Tried to find an entry in Keychain to remove, none listed
Able to connect to share within Fusion running XP
    Anything I missing?

    Hi Troy-
It surely is starting to look like it's some kind of security setting on the Win-Server...something that's different from the other server you just patched.
If you've looked at local and domain policies that do not 'require' digital signing, then I'm a a loss. (I don't have the exact settings, but it's been discussed here ad nauseum over the past two years)
Has something to do with disabling digital signing of communications "always", and enabling "when possible"... other than that, I've forgotten the exact policies...Look in security policies, and you'll probably see what I'm trying to describe.
(Glad I got my daily brain-hiccup out of the way early today!)

  • TS1702 Hello, we have a Mac and an ipad, the Mac is working and wifi is on and the Ipad's wifi is on too, but Ipad Safari can not open because it could not connect to the server, does any one know what have happened?

Hello, we have a Mac and an ipad, the Mac is working and wifi is on and the ipad's wifi is on too, but Ipad Safari can not open the page because it could not connect to the server, does any one know that?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Could not connect to the GSM Server

    Hi,
I am trying to login to Financial Reporting Studio but I get the error dialog box-
*"Could not connect to the GSM Server <servername>:6800"*
Before starting the studio, I even started Essbase. Even the BI+ reporting service is started..
Do I have to configure anything..?
    Please let me know
    Thanks,

On the client side there IS a minor configuration step for Financial Reporting but I doubt it's causing your issue:
Start | Programs | Foundation Services | Configuration Utility | Hyperion Reporting and Analysis | Configure Financial Reporting
The only time I've gotten the GSM error you have was when I changed my SQLServer from 2000 to 2005 which also changed the default SQLServer port in the process (on a Dev box) and was never able to resolve it to get it to recognize the GSM again so I had to re-do all the installs.
Is this a new install? what version? Can you tell us more about your Hyperion and RDBMS environment?
    Good luck,
    Karen

  • Safari will not open on my iPad Air...."Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server." There were recent updates on my iPad Air. How can I fix this problem?

How can I correct the issue of Safari not connecting on my iPad Air? It was working great 2 days ago.....now on September 20 it is not working! I have an internet connection but Safari will not open. "Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server."

    Hello Beckieor,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice concerning network issues:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.

I have a 4th gen. Itouch wiht IOS4 and i want to update it, but when i click the update button in ITunes it says "contacting IPod software server" and it looks like it is loading. However, after about 5 seconds it stops and says "ITunes could not connect to the IPod software server". I found the apple webpage that is supposed to help me, but when i went to the LAN settings in the control panel i found that 'Automatically detect settings" was already checked. I do not know what to do, Please help.

If yo mean the iPod will not connect to your wifi network:
Does the iPod connect to other networks?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
