Server Backup Question Essentials 2012

I have two external hard drives that I want to rotate. I ran the backup wizard with both drives plugged in. I unplugged one of the drives and stored it offsite.  When the next backup ran it was looking for the drive that was offsite.  I want to
simplify this so my users can simply swap the external drive weekly, and send the alternate one offsite. Is that even possible without them touching the backup wizard?
Thank You

Hi,
Based on your description, did you mean the Set Up Server Backup Wizard in the Dashboard? You can use multiple
external storage drives for backups, and you can rotate the drives between onsite and offsite storage locations. This can improve your disaster preparedness planning by helping you recover your data if physical damage occurs to the hardware onsite. However,
when choosing a storage drive for your server backup, if the backup target drive contains offline drives, the backup configuration will not succeed. To complete the configuration, when selecting the backup target, clear the check box to exclude drives that
are offline. For more details, please refer to following article.

If anything I misunderstand or any update, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Hope this helps.

  • System hangs running Server Backup - Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials

I ran through the Backup Wizard, selected the System, OS, and my Data drives to backup. total output is probably about 400-500GB of data to be snapshot and backed up. It's set to automatically backup daily at 9:00pm, but upon the first backup it just sits
there. I figured I'd let it ride until the next day since I've seen backups take a couple hours before.
Well, It's more than 12 hours since it started the process, and I cannot access my server. It doesn't wake the screen, CTRL-Alt-Del doesn't do anything, and I can't remote in with RDP.
Any advice? I haven't shut it down or forced a reboot yet.

The server hangs when the backup starts, and I cannot see any error message other than after I hard reboot and see the error popup on reboot due to unscheduled shut down. Also, there is an error log in the Windows\Logs\WindowsServerBackup directory. The
log files are empty, though. They are named according to date.
    e.g. "Backup_Error-07-01-2014_02-00-06"
I have reboot the system and the same happens when I try to backup again. I do have data in the backup HDD, as I have since disabled Server Backup. After disabling server backup, the designated drive is now mounted and I can see the log file created in the
    only backup folder on it.
"Backup of volume C: has failed. The operation failed due to a device error encountered with either the source or the destination. If the source or destination volume is on a disk, run CHKDSK /R on the source or destination volume, and
    then retry the operation."
"Backup of volume D: has failed. Server execution failed"
All drives are new, and CHKDSK /R doesn't resolve anything in terms of allowing backup to proceed.
I should also note that the C: HDD is a 512GB SSD with only 36GB of data on it including the OS. D: is a 2TB HDD with only 18GB of data on it. SQL server is active during the backup process, but even ending the SQL processes doesn't change the backup outcome.
Server Backup ends up hanging regardless of everything I've tried.
I imagine Server Backup would kill any processes that may prevent it from accessing data to snapshot/backup, no?
I will add the backup HDD does have 3 files in the F:\WindowsImageBackup\NESServer\Backup 2014-01-07 020006 directory.
    @ 9:02pm 1/6/2014 (9:00pm was the scheduled start), a 2,550,784KB file
    @ 12:45am 1/7/2014, a 11,264KB file
    @ 10:49am 1/7/2014, a 272,384KB file
All three of those files were created from the same backup process. However, checking the Server Manager/Server Backup Tool, that drive doesn't qualify as containing any backup files. "The backup location does not contain any backup. Specify another
    backup location."

  • Can't access Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials server backup

    Hi!
I was wondering if anybody had the same issue and was able to resolve it:
I am trying to restore some files in Shared folders folder from the server backup. I open dashboard, I see successful full backups, for example 18.1. and want to restore a folder from it. But when I start the wizzard I cannot choose these backups as they
do not exist. I am actually able to chose only the latets backup 9.3.
If I go to wbadmin there is only the latest backup - for example 9.3. No other backups are visible even tough the backup disk E: is 1,5TB and nothing else should be there.
    Anybody had similar problem?
    Thank you!

So let's recap...  You open the Dashboard, click on the Devices tab, then
click to highlight the server, then click on on "Restore Files and Folders
for the server"; the Restore Wizard opens and you select next, specify the
backup location ("On this server"), "Restore from backup that I select
(advanced)" and then run through the calendar to select the desired backup.
However, at this point, no additional backups are available in the calendar?
If so, can you estimate how large your backup is (how much of the 1.5TB
drive was taken up with the original backup)?

  • Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 - Server Backup Retention

    Hi,
all info that I find on Technet seems to say that WSE should manage the space of the server backup hard drives automatically (ie. delete older backups to create newer ones). However, all threads on this topic usually involve users who only have 1 backup
    drive.
In my case, we use 2 server backup hard drives in onsite/offsite rotation. Both drives are identical 2Tb hard drives. Drive 1 was nearing full capacity, so we swapped it out with Drive 2. A few days later, we plugged Drive 1 back in, expecting it to self-clean.
Instead, it reached 100% capacity, and backups have been failing for 3 days now.
So Drive 1 is 100% full (2Tb), and contains 91 backups.
Drive 2's is lower, but I suspect that's simply because we didn't leave it plugged in to the server as long as Drive 1 (so it has fewer backups).
How can this situation be fixed?

    Hi,
It seems that the Drive 1 needs to be attached to the server when you swapped it out with Drive 2. You could try to refer to the article below to resolve the issue:
Error message when you try to add an additional disk to a scheduled backup: "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"

  • Can't get OWA to work on Essentials 2012 R2 with Exchange 2013 on second server 2012 R2 std.

I have previously with success setup a working solution with server 2012 essentials, and a second server 2012 std. with exchange 2013, I did it following this guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj200172.aspx
Unfortunately I lost the server due to a cooling error which led to an un-repairable essentials 2012, since this was a new setup and also a test setup I didn't have any working backup solution setup at the time...tsk.tsk.
Since I had to make a complete do over I chose to try out the new R2 server editions, and set it up following the same guide, when it came to this part:
Download KB2732764 for ARR 2.5, and then install the update on the server that is running Windows Server 2012 Essentials.
Copy the SSL certificate file for Exchange Server to the server that is running Windows Server 2012 Essentials. The certificate file must contain the private key, and it must be in the PFX file format.
    Note
If you are using a self-issued certificate, follow the instruction in the Exchange Server article Export an Exchange Certificate to export the certificate.
Open a command window as an administrator, and then open the %ProgramFiles%\Windows Server\Bin directory.
Based on you installation scenario, follow one of these steps to configure ARR:
If you are performing a clean setup, run the following command:
ARRConfig config –cert “path to the certificate file” –hostnames “host names for Exchange Server”
I noticed that the version of "Application request routing" had changed to version 3, so obviously I didn't need to dl the 2.5 update.. When I came to the part where I wa instructed to run arrconfig config etc. I noticed
that the ARRconfig file no longer where placed where the setup guide indicated, I then went ahead and tried som manual configuration regarding certificates and such. In the end I have a working solution where Exchange and OWA is working locally but OWA isn't
working outside my local domain, the link get's placed in the RWA and is indicating the correct link for the exchange server www.remote.clinten.dk I have a certificate which include to separate domain names aforementioned and remote.clinten.dk and
I get no errors indicating certificate errors, when I try to connect to www.remote.clinten.dk/owa from outside I get a 404 error, and when I connect to www.remote.clinten.dk I get the RWA login screen for the essentials RWA. Obviously I need to set up something
in ISS probably in the url rewrite section, but I can't seem to find the right setting.. Can someone help with this?
Btw. I have found the missing arrconfig file in c:\windows\system32\essentials" and tried to run the command as described in the guide "ARRConfig config –cert “path to the certificate file” –hostnames “host
names for Exchange Server”" but it doesn't seem to work, it just prompts with a guide for using the arrconfig command and examples of correct use, I also tried removing the "" from the guide, like this "ARRConfig
config –cert path to the certificate file –hostnames host names for Exchange Server",
when I ran it without the "" It didn't prompt me with anything nor did It indicate any errors, it did not however make my OWA work either..
I am aware that exchange 2013 atm. isn't officially supported on the R2 server, but the exchange works fine inside my domain, and the pop3/smtp also works from outside, since this Is a test environment, using only my own private domain and not a company
domain I figured it would be ok to run the risk.. ;)

"Ok just an update for anyone else how has this issue.
The problem has been solved by Microsoft and I have included their findings below, but basically it comes down to a typo!
I often use notepad to have all the commands I need on hand, and I must have copied the command direct from the TechNet article or other website and customised the required fields. The issue with this is one of the characters did not “convert” - for want
of a better word. I should have retyped the whole command from scratch and it would have been right!
Thanks for everyone’s input and for Microsoft for getting to the bottom of it.
    From Microsoft:
We have tested on your environment and here is the investigation result from our senior engineer:
    ================================================================
Basically the command fails due to invalid parameter, the invalid one is the ‘-‘. I think the one customer used is copied from the online document sample which translate to the unicode is 0x8211 means “en dash”, it
can’t be input by normal keyboard, so I pretty sure it is from web (mostly HTML document).
The one we check (compare) is ‘-‘ which has the code 0x45.
So it always failed to compare the parameter and ARRconfig.exe thought it is invalid parameter.
The solution is quite simple, just using keyboard to retype the command, using normal ‘-‘ and I have tried the password prompt shows

  • Windows Server Essentials 2012 error code: 2147942403 The system cannot find the path specified

Running Windows Server 2012 Essentials with an external usb 3 drive as a backup device.  Using a Vantec hx enclosure with a WD Red drive. Last night the Dashboard saw the drive with about half the 4TB available for backup. A.M., I get "error code:
2147942403 The system cannot find the path specified".
Going to the server desktop, I see a message indicating that the usb device malfunctioned.  unplugging it, and plugging it back in, I now have it available via the dashboard.
This has happened a couple times with two different drives in Vantec hx enclosures.
A couple possibilities come to mind:
the enclosures may both be bad...
there is some problem with the system software and external usb drive.
    Thoughts?
    Suggestions for external enclosures?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you cannot backup the Windows Server Essentials 2012 and got "error code: 2147942403 The system cannot find the path specified". You found the usb device malfunctioned.
Can you backup the server when you unplugged the usb device, and plugged it back in? If you can backup the server when you replug the usb device, you need to engage the vendor to resolve the hard drive issues.

  • Best practices for upgrading Windows Server Essentials 2012 to R2?

    Hi,
I need to upgrade my Windows Server Essentials 2012 on an HP microserver to Essentials R2 (specifically the R2 role on Standard rather than as a VM). After a reasonable amount of searching, I haven't found anything online that specifically addresses this in-place
upgrade scenario. Since this is already an Essentials server, it's the PDC in its own domain, etc. Has anyone that's done this upgrade have any experiences or warnings to share?
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hello there,
There is no upgrade path from Server 2012 Essentials to R2.  R2 is not an upgrade, it is a new build.  Essentials does not upgrade easily, you will want to perform a migration of the server.  This will require additional hardware.  You
can possibly backup the 2012 Essentials, build a temp server on workstation hardware just to do the migration from,  restore the backup to the new server and then perform the migration to R2.

  • Windows Storage Server Essentials 2012 R2 + SBS 2008 Domain

I recently purchased one of the new Thecus N2000 Windows Storage Server Essentials 2012 R2 boxes and I'd like to integrate it into my SBS 2008 domain.  I've successfully joined it to the domain, but whenever I try to run the "Configure Windows
Server Essentials" wizard I get an error "Configuration encountered some issues" "Please Click Retry.  If the issue still exists please refer to the help link for more troubleshooting steps".  Unfortunately the troubleshooting
link just takes me to these forums, and I have yet to find anything in here to get this to work.
I've tried removing the Essentials role, rebooting, re-adding the Essentials role, and re-running the "Configure Windows Server Essentials" wizard, but no good - I still continue to get the same failure.
I've read that Windows Server Essentials requires that it holds the FSMO roles and it gets angry if it doesn't hold them.  SBS 2008 also requires that *it* holds the FSMO roles though, which is what prevented me from going to Windows Server Essentials.
Windows _Storage_ Server Essentials however was billed as a different product, I'm getting conflicting information from some people saying I should be able to integrate it with my SBS 2008 domain no problem, but given the fact that I'm having so much
trouble with this I'm beginning to question that.
Has anyone out there been able to add a WSSe 2012 R2 box to an SBS domain and get the two to play together nicely?  What did it take?

    Hi Mesan,
    à
I've tried removing the Essentials role, rebooting, re-adding the Essentials role
Did you mean that Windows Server Essentials Experience role had been installed on that server? I only find that
deploy Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard/Datacenter with Windows Server Essentials Experience role
in an existing AD Environment. For more details, please refer to following article and check if can help you.

  • Mount vhdx file from Windows Server Backup 2012

We have a 2012 server with a network share that other servers backup to using Windows Server Backup.  To view the files from a windows 2008 r2 backup .vhd file all I have to do is open it in windows explorer and it mounts as a drive and opens.  When
I try to do the same with a 2012 backup (.vhdx) it tells me "you don't have permission to mount the file" but if I open disk management I can see the volume, and if I right click on it and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths" and add
a drive letter, then I can browse it.  I get the same issue using mount-vhd in powershell.

    Hi Adm1nMikeW,
Please try to use disk management --> action --> attach VHD (this way will  avoid  the error message).
The root cause is the attribute "nodefaultdriveletter" of the backup vhd was not set to "no".
You can try following setps :
    1. in cmd prompt type diskpart
    2. recognize the problematic volume you want to set via list volume
    3. run command select volume "volume number"
    4. run command attributes volume clear nodefaultdriveletter
then detach it and reattach the disk again .
    Hope this helps

  • Cannot get Win8 Pro computer run the Connect a Computer to the Server Wizard (computerconnector) of Essentials 2012

I've spent 1/2 the day trying to troubleshoot this problem and finally give up.
My client has a Windows Server 2012 Essentials server (with all updates installed - no errors in error logs nor SFC /SCANNOW).  Purchased a new Windows 8 Pro computer, which we installed all the updates from Windows Updates and are now trying to join
the domain using the "Microsoft way" (i.e.:  http://[servername]/connect).
The site comes up and it prompts us to download the software and run... so far so good, but when we get to the screen where it asks, "Type your new network user name and password" - the next screen after that we get the error, "Cannot connect
    this computer to the network...".
I've been looking at cases all day long through Microsoft and Google - all pointing to problems with the SSL on the server - that's not the problem here (as other workstations have, in the past, successfully connected and we verified today that the local
server certificate is what is the default, as it should be).
I've tried just about everything I can think of and cannot get this silly wizard to work (why Microsoft, WHY!??!?!).  Yet, I can join this domain just fine doing it through normal means.  I've even tried joining the domain this way, and tried installing
the software afterwards (as the Essentials Console won't reflect the new workstation, thus it won't add it to group policies etc... though yes, I could manually do that and have - but we'd still like to get it to show up in the console).  I even
tried the trick noted in a KB talking about running the connect software without joining the domain (registry key that gets added) - that didn't work either.
I'm out of ideas - and at this point had to get the client online and working today - so we joined it manually, configured it and left it.  But I would like to get this fixed the "proper" way.  Help?
I do have the clientdeploy.log file - which only points out an internal error, but I'm unsure how to enable the improved logging it suggests (I'll gladly post the logs if someone tells me how - I'll skip posting the log file here for now):
    [1544] 140204.203620.0794: ClientSetup: MachineIdentityManager.GetMachineStatus had errors: ErrorCatalog:NetworkError ErrorCode:-1
BaseException: Microsoft.WindowsServerSolutions.Devices.Identity.MachineIdentityException: MachineIdentityManager.GetMachineStatus ---> System.ServiceModel.FaultException: The server was unable to process the request due to an internal error.  For more
information about the error, either turn on IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults (either from ServiceBehaviorAttribute or from the <serviceDebug> configuration behavior) on the server in order to send the exception information back to the client, or turn on
tracing as per the Microsoft .NET Framework SDK documentation and inspect the server trace logs.
Suggestions?  Thoughts?  I hope Essentials 2012 R2 improves this - as I've had this error for other various reasons with other clients (and spent 1/2 days troubleshooting to clear those up).  Essentials Connect, IMHO, needs a re-write - as
it's been nothing but a hassle... miss the SBS connect.

    Hi slemay,
Before going further, please uninstall the Connector software from Control panel. Then connect again, will
the same issue persists? Would you please use another client to connect with the Server 2012 Essentials by using this way? Then monitor the result. Please make sure the computer has a physical connection to the local network.
Please refer to the TechNet article (Here)
and troubleshoot, then check if can help you to solve it.
In addition, please refer to the following articles and enable
WCF tracing to go further. Please check if you can find some clues.

  • Bare metal restore of full server backup fails with RPC error 0x800706BA (server 2012)

With Windows Server 2012, after creating a successful windows server backup (full server), I am unable to do a bare metal restore of the system.
EFI System Partition, C:, D: are the volumes on a single array (Raid 5).
Loading WinRE and launching re-image, the full server restore stops after completing the C: restore just after beginning the D: drive restore (data volume) with the error with the message about RPC error 0x800706BA, unavailable.
The system will not boot as a result of the failure.
    What may be causing this?
    [edit]
I think I have two things working against me here... one, Volume Shadow Copy service wasn't running in WinPE and two.. the D: volume contains data deduplication.
I think this is causing some of my problems.
Is there an additional service that I need to start in WinPE to get a volume that was deduplicated restored perhaps using wbadmin?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply Shaon.
The hardware system is identical; however, I am increasing storage capacity from 12TB to 16TB.  Basically, the system is the same, just new hard drives (4x4TB versus 4x3TB).  Drives are all identical enterprise class drives and I am actually using
the same system (backup, swap drives then restore).
I tried both using the WinRE restore (re-image) with the backup set, and tried using wbadmin.  Both produce same RPC unavailable messages (although using the GUI based tool via WinRE provides the additional error code #).
I do not have any idea what to look at to try to figure this one out.
    [edit]
I was just informed of this posting:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/147efccc-e0e9-4458-852e-c3a44ae5cb64/the-system-image-restore-failed-error-details-he-rpc-server-is-unavailable-0x800706ba?forum=windowsbackup
and in my case, this lab server does in fact act also as a DC as well as a file server...  do I need to spin up a secondary controller (perhaps in a VM on another machine) to do this restore?

  • Need help scripting the Essentials Server Backup configuration in PowerShell

I'm trying to write a PowerShell script that automates the setup and configuration of the Server Backup feature within WS2012 R2 Essentials. There are a number of cmdlets for defining the backup source files and target location such as add-wssbackuptarget,
    add-wssbackupvolume, new-wssbackuptarget, etc.
These cmdlets all have a required -Disk parameter and I can't for the life of me figure out the syntax for it. I've tried the disk ID, drive letter, LUN, volume label, and disk number. All of the examples in the help files are using variables instead of
explicitly entering a value; I've tried using the example scripts and those fail too.
    So here's a quick example:
    Get-WssBackupPolicy | Add-WssBackupVolume -Disk ??
I obviously need more parameters than that but the point is, no matter what other parameters I type and no matter what I enter for the value of -Disk, I always get "Cannot bind parameter 'Disk'. Cannot convert the "D:\" (or whatever I've entered)
value of "System.String" to type "Microsoft.WindowsServerSolutions.DataProtection.ServerBackup.ObjectModel.BackupDisk".
And like I said in the opening paragraph, I get that same error for any and all cmdlets that use the -Disk parameter. Does anyone know how to properly structure format the -Disk value?
    Thanks

Don't worry I wasn't sure as well, I had to raise a SR to understand it too!
I have a similar set up to yours and have webutil working successfully.
What you need to do is to install and configure your application server on unix for webutil as well as windows.
From your post I see you are already reading the docs. Within chapters 2 and 3 both of which are titled "configuring web util", you will see points that refer to the application server, these are the ones that you need to follow.
    Good luck

  • Windows 2012 Server Backup Problems - VSS Error

Our company uses Windows Server Backup to back up our Windows 2012 Server.  We back up the host component and the two virtual machines on the server.  Every time I install windows updates
on our server my backup jobs stop working and I get a VSS error.  In order to get backup working again, I have to recreate my backup job.  In order to do this I have to attach all the backup drives to the computer at the same time.
This has been an issue all the way back to when the server was first installed.  At that time the person who installed Windows Server talked to Microsoft.  Microsoft said the problem would be fixed in the first service pack which they ended
up never releasing.  I have looked online, but haven’t found any information on these issues.  Are there any fixes for these two problems?

    Hi,
    Sorry for the delay.
Can you first do a backup then install windows updates? Please provide more detailed message about the VSS error.

  • Cannot setup VPN (WMI failure?) - Server Essentials 2012 R2

    Hi,
Last week i setup a new Server Essentials 2012 R2 (fresh install). Everything apart from the Anywhere Access has sucessfully been setup and the server is in a production Environment.
When i try to configure Anywhere Access and setup VPN + RemoteDesktop , the wizard fails. VPN cannot be setup , retry.
    Two Issues:
The VPN setup/configuration fails (Lets start with this one, could be related to second issue).
Remote Desktop setup is completed. However the "Remote Desktop Gateway" service cannot be started because the dependant service RPC/HTTP Load Balancing  cannot start.
Troubleshooting steps taken on the VPN setup Issue:
    Restarting the server (multiple times)
    Rerunning the wizard (multiple times)
Checking if the correct roles has been installed by Server Essentials
Checking log files dashboard.log (The error found)
Run sfc /scannow (errors found and corrected)
    Run DISM (OK)
Tried to setup VPN manually using the RRAS GUI (Error: Installation of the Routing and Remote Access service failed because Class not registered 80040154)
Further I've concluded that the 1st (VPN) issue is probably casued by malfunctioning WMI
In the dashboard.log , when running the VPN setup an error can be found on one of the setup steps:
    [6684] 140723.170909.2619: RemoteAccess: PS > RemoteAccess\Install-RemoteAccess -VpnType Vpn;
    [3320] 140723.170910.1772: DomainManagerObjectModel: Calling KeepAlive for instanceID=1
    [3320] 140723.170910.1772: DomainManagerObjectModel: KeepAlive succeeded for instanceID=1
[6684] 140723.170918.1943: RemoteAccess: PS Exception (catch and rethrow): System.Management.Automation.MethodInvocationException: Exception calling "EndProcessing" with "0" argument(s): "Object reference not set to an instance
of an object." ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
To troubleshoot this further, i've run the PS command "Install-RemoteAccess -VpnType Vpn" manually. This gives me the following error which Points to a WMI issue
    PS C:\Windows\system32> RemoteAccess\Install-RemoteAccess -VpnType Vpn
    RemoteAccess\Install-RemoteAccess : Provider load failure
    At line:1 char:1
    + RemoteAccess\Install-RemoteAccess -VpnType Vpn

       , CimException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : HRESULT 0x80041013,Install-RemoteAccess
Ran WMIdiag - Found errors. The most interesting error is found below
    53059 22:43:35 (2) !! WARNING: WMI provider DCOM registrations missing for the following provider(s): ..................................... 3 WARNING(S)!
    53060 22:43:35 (0) ** - ROOT/CIMV2/TERMINALSERVICES, AAGProvider ({75D15B16-228C-499F-A0FC-E4899AC870CE}) (i.e. WMI Class 'Win32_TSGatewayResourceGroup')

The WMIDiag provider CSV shows that the RASERVERPSPROVIDER.DLL has no DCOM (WMI Provider Binary) registration. (see example below)
    WMI Namespace
    WMI Class name
    WMI Provider Name
    WMI Provider Model
    WMI provider binary
    WMI provider registration MOF file(s)
    ROOT/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/REMOTEACCESS/SERVER
    PS_RemoteAccessLocal
    RAServerPSProvider
    No DCOM registry registration
    No DCOM registry registration
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WBEM\RASERVERPSPROVIDER.MOF
So I've tried to reregister the DLLs with regsvr32 RASERVERPSPROVIDER.DLL. I've also tried to recompile the MOFs (RASERVERPSPROVIDER.MOF). I found the missing DLL and MOF using WMIDiag on Another Server Essentials 2012 R2 machine. But no sucess - the WMI
Provider binaries and model are still missing..
Example from another (healty) 2012 R2 Essentials Server
    WMI Namespace
    WMI Class name
    WMI Provider Name
    WMI Provider Model
    WMI provider binary
    WMI provider registration MOF file(s)
    ROOT/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/REMOTEACCESS/SERVER
    PS_RemoteAccessLocal
    RAServerPSProvider
    In-proc
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WBEM\RASERVERPSPROVIDER.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WBEM\RASERVERPSPROVIDER.MOF
Is there any other way to add the WMI provider binary manually? Or do you think I'm on the wrong track?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Here is a good blog to troubleshoot WMI issues.
    WMI: Rebuilding the WMI Repository
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2009/04/13/wmi-rebuilding-the-wmi-repository.aspx
First, I want to confirm if the good system is at the same hotfix/SP.
Re-register all of the dlls and recompile the .mofs in the wbem folder and re-registering WMI Service and Provider. Then verify the consistence of the repository.
If the issue persists, we can choose to rebuild the repository.
    Hope this helps.
