Server gets Started if config.xml changes?

Hi All,
I am facing a problem. In my application I have a config.xml file. If I make any changes to it, there server(tomcat) gets started. So i have to wait for sometimes for doing any transaction.
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue? I don't want to restart the server.
Thanx in advance
Regards
Rishab.

How is this related to JSF? You should post Tomcat related questions at a Tomcat related forum or mailinglist. There is one at its own homepage over there at Apache.org.

Hi Venu,
Normally if you can see the UCM content in the admin console, it means the adapter is configured correctly and the placeholder should work. There's a couple of things I can suggest:
1. Did you include the oracle-ucm-spi-app-lib.ear file in your project as documented under the heading Add a Reference to the UCM VCR Adapter Shared Library in the UCM VCR adapter installation docs ( [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/ucm_adapter/install.html|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/ucm_adapter/install.html] )?
2. Browse to a document in the repository in the admin console. Pick one of the fields there (e.g. IDC:Folder.dDocId), grab the value and run a query using the placeholder. Do you get a single result?
3. The original poster (user8867138) mentions a query along the lines of returning all folders that has dDocAuthor = sysadmin. If your UCM system had 10,000 folders all created by sysadmin, the adapter might be timing out? IIRC, you can adjust the timeout in UCM.
4. Did you try a similar query using Content Selector instead?
5. If the WLP server domain is running on a separate machine, is UCM configured to accept connections from the WLP server but not your machine?
I would suggest getting the latest patches for WLP too as some of them are related to the UCM VCR adapter.
Cheers,
Cappa

• Multiple Apex Listeners on one server trouble with apex-config.xml

I'm using 0C4J to deploy apex on a windows server. I want to be able to have multiple instances of OC4J running pointing to different databases. I've read through documentation and forum posts and this looks simple enough.
I've got one instance running at E:\OC4J and working fine. I've to added a second OC4J instance at E:\OC4J2. I've rebuilt and redeployed the apex.war file after editing web.xml to specify a new location for apex-config.xml. I'm trying to specify the config directory as E:\OC4J2\config but can't seem to get the syntax right, because it keeps picking up the default file the first OC4J instance is using.
<context-param>
<param-name>config.dir</param-name>
<param-value>E:\oc4j2\config</param-value>
</context-param>
I've tried multiple versions of the path E:\oc4j2\config, E:/oc4j2/config, /oc4j2/config, \oc4j2\config but none seem to work.
Could anybody confirm the proper syntax for specifying the path to apex-config.xml in web.xml on a windows server?
Thanks in advance

Got it working
Had the syntax right.
<context-param>
<param-name>config.dir</param-name>
<param-value>E:\oc4j2\config</param-value>
</context-param>
Issue seems to be if there is an apex-config.xml file at C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\apex it picks up on it first.
Once I had both web.xml files specified to different directories for the config file and I deleted the one at C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\apex things worked as expected.
Thanks

Hi,
I believe few of the jars are missing in your classpath due to which you are getting this error. Try adding the "*adf.share_11.1.1.jar*" from (\ORACLE_HOME\modules\features\adf.share_11.1.1.jar) in your weblogic server classpath and then try to start the server.
Setting Classpath:
===========
In "setDomainEnv.cmd" add the above jar in the "set PRE_CLASSPATH=" as shown below
Example:
set PRE_CLASSPATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\modules\features\adf.share_11.1.1.jar

You should read through all the past threads on this subject,
there is a lot of good information and many things you must do

Another odd thing is that there is no longer the option to add users to "BI Administrators" "BI Authors"... looks like those groups are missing.

• Getting started UCM webservice XML

I am at a loss. I have this 400 and some page PDF as a guide for UCM and I do not remotely know how to successfully search for documents stored in UCM using the webservice interface.
I can retrieve a document if I know the dID but my users won't know that value so I need to retrieve it in a search.
Where can I find information on constructing the XML to do searches? The wsdl that you get from the UI menu on the UCM admin page doesn't seem correct.
(yes, I have it in an envelope with security header)
<soapenv:Body>
<sear:QuickSearch>
<sear:queryText>dDocTitle like 'Mytest'</sear:queryText>
</sear:QuickSearch>
</soapenv:Body>
Throws:
Cannot find dispatch method for {http://www.stellent.com/Search/}QuickSearch

Ok, so let's start with a sanity check.
Login to the Content Server web UI with the user login that you are using for the SOAP request. Once logged in, paste the following into the browser address bar, substituting the parts of the URL enclosed in brackets ("<>") with the correct values for your environment.
http://<server>:<port>/<instance root>/idcplg?IdcService=COLLECTION_INFO&dCollectionPath=/Contribution Folders/CHUMS/Appraisals/AAAA/&hasCollectionPath=true&IsSoap=1
What you should see is a XML response in the browser. One of the fields returned will be "dCollectionID", which is the field for which you are looking for in order to perform your original task stated in the opening of the thread. If you still get a "can't open the folder" response, verify the security applied to the folder.
If you get a valid response in the web browser, then Content Server is capable of finding your folder and can return a response. The issue is then something within the SOAP request that is being issued.

• Mac OS X Server - getting started

Hello, I need to setup an Xserve with Mac OS X Server 10.5.7. How do you configure it so a person can login to their own account from any computer and have their own desktop, dock, etc?
Thanks

Hi
Start with:
http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/OpenDirectory_Admin_v10.5_3rdEd.pdf
http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/UserManagementv10.5.mnl.pdf
The rest of Apple's documentation is here:
http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/resources/
Read thoroughly. Move onto:
http://web.me.com/johnd/JohnDsSite/Tips_%26_Tricks/Entries/2008/10/27_Tips_%26_Tricks_for_Macintosh_Management _-Leopard.html
These are just a few. You could Google for the rest of which there are many. Consider enrolling yourself in one of the Support Essentials Courses:
http://training.apple.com/
There has to be at least one in your locale? Regardless of platform deploying, configuring, running and maintaining a server is more than just the OS itself. There are many different skills you have to bring into play. A basic understanding of networking in general, TCP/IP, Switches, Routers and DNS (as always) are amongst some of the things you will have to bring to the table yourself. These you won't necessarily learn from any of the documentation Apple provide.
Finally you will have to become somewhat familiar with the command line at some level:
http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/CommandLine_Adminv10.5.pdf

• Customizing server.name and server.port in services-config.xml

Hi
How can i find out what does BlazeDs use for server.name and server.port in
url="http://{server.name}:{server.port}/{context.root}/messagebroker/amf"
can i customize those values?
thank you

Mete
Thank you for your reply
So context.root is resolved at compile time and server & port at runtime
Do you have an example or a link that shows / explain how to create custom tokens replaced by JVM options?
I have an issue where if i install my app on http://www.mydomain.com/mycontext/, it loads but will display the following message when making server call using Safari
FAULT: faultCode:Client.Error.MessageSend faultString:Send failed faultDetail:Channel.Connect.Failed error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed: url: http://www.mydomain.com/context/messagebroker/amf
Notte that it works on IE7 when accessing http://www.mydomain.com/mycontext/
and that it works great with all browsers on http://localhost:8080/mycontextroot
Would you know what is the best way to debug this issue?
Thank you

• SEVERE: java.io.FileNotFoundException: ./config/jps-config.xml (No such file or directory)

I am installing OIM/OAM in a cluster configuration using release 11.1.1.7.
I looked at the EDG here:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/core.1111/e12035/toc.htm
And its pointing me to the 11.1.1.5 version
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/core.1111/e12035/toc.htm
So that is the guide I am following.
I am at this step:
18.1.5.2 Integrating Oracle Access Manager with Oracle Identity Manager by Using idmConfigTool
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/core.1111/e12035/wiring.htm#sthref356
When I run the config tool I get SEVERE messages like this one:
SEVERE: java.io.FileNotFoundException: ./config/jps-config.xml (No such file or directory)
Any suggestions on how to fix this ?
Please note that I can see jps-config.xml under the domain configuration in the fmwconfig directory.

• How to configure CustomLoginModule in jps-config.xml

Hi,
How can we configure a Custom Login Module using jps-config.xml, as we do not want to use weblogic custom authentication provider as it needs application jars(which we require fo authenticating the user) to be kept in weblogic classpath.

Ours is not a Desktop Application, but we want to handle Authentication(Which authenticates the userid and password by making a Tuxedo call) and add the Principal to Subject in session, so that ADF Authorization and securityContext can be used as is,
but doing this with Custom Authentication Provider in weblogic needs me to have a lot of Tuxedo Service related jars in weblogic/system classpath which i feel is not right thing to do, as the same jars are required in application also, which means i will have the jars in class path twice and i need to deploy the jars to both places everytime there is any change.
Is there any way by which i can set Authenticated principal to Subject in the created session from within Application?

• Remote-config.xml

How to add more than a single remote service destination to
the remote-config.xml file? When I try to add a new destination tag
in the remote-config.xml I get an error when calling the mxml file
in the browser. Please help.

Have you seen the example remoting-config.xml file in the
/resources/config directory that is laid down during an FDS
installation?
destination elements are children of the service element.
<service ...>
<destination id="dest1">
</destination>
<destination id="dest2">
</destination>
</service>
Perhaps your SWF didn't get updated with the new
configuration file? You need to recompile the SWF in order to get
the new configuration information into it... also, you'd need to
restart the app server if you change the config file. If you're
using Flex Builder to compile an .mxml file then you may need to
force a recompile with the Clean... option as it may have not
noticed that the services-config.xml include file
remoting-config.xml changed?

• How to stop WL 7.0 to modify config.xml file

As said, weblogic has two modes, PRODUCTION and DEVELOPMENT, if set to PRODUCTION
mode, weblogic startup will not deploy any application and you should use console
or deployer tool to deploy them manually. But, if I start it in PRODUCTION mode,
the first it does not deployt any application and startup very quickly, but, if
I manually deploy any application, weblogic server will also modify config.xml
and my next startup will deploy all the applications since they are specified
in config.xml, and the startup time will be much longer. How could I stop weblogic
server from doing this? I want production mode but I want to keep my original
config.xml untouched.
Thanks

To change this behavior:
In Skype go to "Tools" - "Options" - "IM Settings" - uncheck "Automatically accept incoming files" OR under "When I receive a file...." select "choose a folder to save the file in every time.
