Server missing in Server Monitor after connection

Hello!
I'm facing a strange issue on our XServe (10.6.4).
We have enabled LOM for this Server and created an account for this.
All is working fine.
When I open up Server Monitor (on the Server or a administrating Mac) I can see the Server with the information on start up: No response since....
Once the connection to the Server is established it's gone from the Server Monitor.
This is a real strange issue I'm facing.
Have anyone maybe a suggestion to me?
Thanks a lot

Hi,
You add windows server 2012r2 GUI via PowerShell:
1.Determine the index number for a Server with a GUI image (for example, SERVERDATACENTER, not SERVERDATACENTERCORE) with Get-WindowsImage -ImagePath <path to
wim>\install.wim.
2.Run Install-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra,Server-Gui-Shell –Restart –Source c:\mountdir\windows\winsxs
3.Alternatively, if you want to use Windows Update as the source instead of a WIM file, use this Windows PowerShell cmdlet:
Install-WindowsFeature Server-Gui-Mgmt-Infra,Server-Gui-Shell –Restart
Hope this helps.

  • Server Monitor after 10.5.7 Upgrade - No Blower Info

    Hi All,
    After upgrading from 10.5.4 to 10.5.7 I no longer see any fan speed readouts under the blower section of Server Monitor. In fact, the only thing I see listed is "None" repeated in different areas of the section.
    Any thoughts? (Running on a G5 XServe Cluster Node.)
    -Mike

    Good point. I often find it useful to completely power the unit off and then back on again after an upgrade.

  • Lost the monitor after connecting via DVI

    I've had an X2Gen 22" monitor connected to our G5 via DVI/VGA adapter to the VGA input on the monitor for a couple of years. Another monitor I just bought came with a DVI cord and a VGA cord. I decided to try the X2Gen/G5 connection via DVI since I now have a cable. The computer can't/won't recognize the monitor now that they're DVI connected. And screen images are ugly! I can't even calibrate it because the computer tells me it cannot identify the monitor. Any ideas anyone? (Other than going back to the VGA cable?)
    Thanks,
    Jon

    Just a thought, but try zapping the PRAM. Good luck.

  • I can't update my ipod. When I check for updates it says "can't connect to server"(despite internet connection being fine). Also, when I try and update software it starts then stops after 2 seconds

    I can't update my Ipod. When I check for updates it says "can't connect to server" despite internet connection being fine. When I receive a software update message;I say install and it starts updating then stops after 2 seconds. Help! (It is a 3rd gen IPod touch(I think)). Presumably as a result of this, I have tried to put my library onto my gf's new iPod touch and it just charges it..doesn't download my library onto the touch).

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • Server Monitor is not connecting to Server but Server Admin does

    I have a Leopard Server up and running. Also the internal network is setup correctly (changeip -checkhostname). Now I want to monitor that server from a Mac OS X Leopard laptop with the Server Monitor tool. So I installed the Administration Tools on the laptop.
    Now I can administer and manage the workgroups but I CANNOT monitor it with the Server Monitor. I setup the server with its IP address and the same user name I use to connect using the Server Admin. The log just states *Failed to contact the server*. Again I work with the Server Admin and Workgroup Manager on that server without any issues but the Server Monitor does not work and it even *does not work locally* on the server itself.
    Any pointers?
    Thanks - Andy

    He's right, it doesn't work on anything other than an xserve-
    what are you running leopard server on?
    if it IS an xserve, this was my problem.
    I had my ethernet coming in on EN3- a PCIx card.
    Guess what? Server monitor doesn't talk to anything other than EN0 or EN1 out of the box.
    You SHOULD however be able to view the xserve itself- using 127.0.0.1 (worked for mine)
    This kbase article put me in the right direction-- specifically the IPMITool
    to conifigure lights out management(you HAVE to use it if you're using anything other than EN0 or EN1)

  • Server Monitor Buttons Missing

    The Monitoring, Profiling and Memory Tracking buttons are all missing from the Server Monitor and it is not displaying any data. Where did they go? I'm on CF9/Multi-server and Windows Server 2008/64 bit. My CF server instances are running under a domain account so they can get to network shares. I'm using multiple jvm.config files to give some servers more memory than others. I've tried adding the domain account to the Administrators group, made sure monitoring, profiling and memory tracking are all enabled, and made sure the crossdomain.xml file is in the webroot.

    Well, first briefly, I've seen this happen (the start/stop buttons don't appear), where simply refreshing the page made them reappear.
    Assuming you've confirmed that doesn't solve it, here are some questions that may help us hone in on the problem:
    - does this happen on all the instances or just one?
    - you say you are on CF9. Do you mean 9 or 9.0.1?
    - Have you applied any hotfixes or cumulative hotfixes? (And I'd ask you to confirm that not from memory but from confirming by looking in the lib\updates directory. On Multiserver, that's \servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates for the cfusion instance, or \servers\instancename\cfusion.ear\cfusion.war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates for any others (note change from - to . in the ear/war directory names).
    - Are the hotfixes there the right ones for the version you're running (not 900 in the filenames if you're running 9.01, or vice-versa)
    - When you say it's "not displaying any data", do you mean that the graphs on the front page are essentially blank? That would mean simply that "start monitoring" has not yet been enabled. When you say "no data", I'd want to make sure you don't mean that none of the screens show anything. There are many that show data even if there are none of the "start" buttons enabled, such as the Template Cache Status page (on the Statistics tab, in the "Request Statistics" section). Is that "displaying data"? Just trying to help clarify your situation.
    Also, just as a workaround until you do solve this, note that if you're on 9.01, you can now at least turn the buttons on and off in the CF Admin, something that's gone under the radar for many, it seems.
    Hope that's helpful.

  • After connecting the clients to start video chat using RTMFP , Can the server finish the video chat

    After connecting the clients to start video chat using RTMFP , Can the server finish the video chat between clients regardless of clients' will ?

    Hi,
    I looked on this site http://portforward.com/routers.htm
    It lists many routing devices both modems and routers.
    I did not see the Surfboard you listed but that does not mean it does not route (It just means it is not in the list)
    Your computer is getting the IP 192.168.1.3 which means a device somewhere between you and the internet is routing.
    Most likely in System Preferences > Network for the connection method you are using you can see a "Router IP" (192.168.1.1 is most likely based on the IP you get)
    Type this into to your Web Browser like you would Apple.com
    You should get a Pop Up.
    Hopefully it will tell what device you are now trying to Log in to.
    This info may help in looking in the Port Forward list.
    If not check all the Motorola devices listed and then iChat in the Next page.
    The third page from the Link page I gave you will detail the default access info (IP and User ID and Password) for each device you visit.
    You may find that there is a common User ID and password across the various devices and this may work for you.
    At Random this one says admin and motorola as the User ID and Password. (others may say different)
    Don't worry about the fact it says to set a Static IP at this stage Or the Port Forwarding info further down each page.
    You will hopefully be now looking at the web pages stored on the modem.
    They work like any other web pages with menu items and links to other pages.
    Search all the menu items and link to see if the device has UPnP
    It tends to be in different places on different routing devices but try Advanced or Admin as well as anything to to do with opening ports.
    A Status page like the first pic on the second link page I listed may well tell you if it has UPnP enable or not (but this is not always the case)
    Tell us what you find out or if you have some other routing device in between you and the Motorola Surfboard.

  • CF8 Server Monitor over secure connection?

    Hi,
    Has anyone out there been able to get the CF8 Server Monitor
    to work over a secure "HTTPS" connection?
    It doesn't work for me. I get an error message, "ColdFusion
    Server is unavailable."
    Thanks.

    Yes, Server monitor works on https also.
    Are you able to access your CF admin through the https?
    ex:

  • Server Monitor shows blank locations after update

    This a refurb xserve 2.8 single processor, 16 gigs of RAM, no raid, LOM firmware 1.1.2.
    If I reset LOM to "factory defaults" and erase and install Server OS 10.5.4. LOM shows the various locations under "Memory", "Drives","Power","Network", "Temperature", and "Blowers".
    As it should.
    However once I upgrade the OS to 10.5.7 using the "combo updater", Server Monitor no longer displays any locations under Power, Network, Temperature, and Blowers.
    I have deleted the plists for Server Monitor and the BMC cache file but still no locations.
    I have gone round and round with this and have been able to duplicate it. It seems to hinge on the 10.5.7 update and updating directly from 10.5.4.
    I have found if I install the Server Admin Tools 10.5.6v1.1 after the combo 10.5.7 update then Server Monitor displays correctly. I can then install the Server Admin Tools 10.5.7 and have full functionality of Server Monitor.

    OK, I get it..... You need a Lights Out Management port to run Server Monitor, and there's no way to set that up on our little experimental Intel Mini running Snow Leopard Server.
    So this shouldn't be an issue when we install Snow Leopard Server on our production Xserve 8-core Xeon. Good to know.

  • Server Monitor won't connect.

    I have a G5 xServe I have recently become responsible for. It is headless, and I haven't admined a headless one and trying to resist the temptation to put a graphics card in it. Right now I'm having the "Waiting for Response" issue with Server Monitor. I can receive the System Profiler Report but no other info is being returned. Any ideas how to fix this?
    Also, wondering if the Shutdown & Restart buttons (in Server Monitor) will work. They are not greyed out but I have no confidence they will work when I need them. Assuming they do not, what would be the best alternative way to Shutdown the server?
    Thanks!

    Hi
    You can use Server Monitor to control the XServe remotely but only if its an Intel XServe and if LOM (Lights Out Management) has been configured for use.
    I kind of agree with what you are saying but my experience has been in previous incarnations of the XServe you could ran Server Monitor locally. You get the "Waiting for Response" message if you use its fixed IP address either locally or remotely. The method outlined in the previous post is the way to connect to it that I have found works. Perhaps somebody else knows different? Although searching the discussion forums will probably result in the same information already given.
    As a further note: you can’t use Server Monitor on anything other than an XServe. People have posted before (and no doubt will continue to do so) complaining that Server Monitor is not working when their Server hardware is anything other than an XServe.

  • Server Monitor hwmondSetup missing

    Our Xserve is missing this package:
    /System/Library/ServerSetup/SetupExtras/hwmondSetup
    I was wondering if anyone could email me that Setup tool so I can try to install it?
    I called apple and there is nowhere to download it from. They said we have to reinstall the OS to get it. It seems ridiculous to have to reinstall the os simply to run server monitor as every other part of the server is running well and took a lot of work to get setup.

    Simple Setup to Configure Server Monitor
    Go to System Preferences
    Figure out which port you want the LOM on.
    The LAN side is more secure.
    Take note of what your Internal IP address and internal NIC is.
    Open Server Monitor
    Select Server menu -> Configure Local Machine
    Configure Lights out Management
    add an IP address that is different that your LAN address
    For example if your LAN IP is 192.168.22.10 then your LOM address can be 192.168.22.11
    username: lomadmin (use a user that is not already in use)
    password: whatever
    Quit Server Monitor
    Shut down the Xserve that is the target of these changes.
    Remove the power cord from the back of the Xserve.
    Wait 30 seconds and plug the power cord back in.
    Power the server back on.
    This did not work for me so if you are having the Waiting for Response error
    Try this stuff:
    ipmitool -V show
    Needs to be ipmitool version 2.0.2
    /usr/bin/hwmond needs to be there:
    you can run this
    /System/Library/ServerSetup/SetupExtras/hwmondSetup
    #!/bin/bash
    # this script determines if hwmond runs on this platform. If it does,
    # then it will remove Disabled key from com.apple.hwmond.plist causing
    # launchd to launch hwmond.
    if hwmond -t > /dev/null ; then
    launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ com.apple.hwmond.plist
    fi
    supposedly this hwmondSetup script is not longer used in Leopard but the tools are the same
    Or try this:
    launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.servermgrd.plist
    mv /var/servermgrd /var/servermgrd.old
    launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.servermgrd.plist
    I don't think this script did anything because I had to go in and manually change the false keys to true in
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.hwmond.plist
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>Label</key>
    <string>com.apple.hwmond</string>
    <key>OnDemand</key>
    <true/>
    <key>Program</key>
    <string>/usr/sbin/hwmond</string>
    <key>ProgramArguments</key>
    <array>
    <string>hwmond</string>
    </array>
    <key>ServiceIPC</key>
    <true/>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    Then I think what finally fixed it for me is stopping and starting the firewall

  • Server monitor broken after upgrade to 10.4.11

    I have a Macbook client which was running 10.4.10
    I also had the server admin tools installed to monitor approx 30 servers, some PPC, some Intel, OS's ranging from 10.4.7 to 10.4.11.
    I have upgraded my MacBook to 10.4.11
    The server monitor tool is 1.5f6
    Now using Server monitor I can only monitor 2/3's of my systems
    Lots of them are showing as "No Response" or "waiting for response".
    I have tried deleting/re-inserting
    I have tried earlier versions of the Server Monitor tools
    I have tried a Leopard client running 10.5 server tools.
    Also when I now go to any of the systems that I cannot monitor from my client, running server monitor locally (127.0.0.1) also shows "waiting for response"
    Can anyone help please

    I'm having similar problems and hoping someone has found a solution.
    I'm on Leopard now (10.5.1) and have recently configured SNMP so that I can monitor a server (MacPro tower). It appears that SNMP is working fine at the command line. For example, I can run a status easily enough:
    ra:~ administrator$ snmpstatus -c public localhost
    [UDP: [127.0.0.1]:161]=>[Darwin ra.local 9.1.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Wed Oct 31 17:46:22 PDT 2007; root:xnu-1228.0.2~1/RELEASE_I386 i386] Up: 0:24:37.39
    Interfaces: 6, Recv/Trans packets: 43993/43404 | IP: 44772/42918
    2 interfaces are down!
    However, Server Monitor simply keeps giving me this:
    1/27/08 12:42:48 PM: Failed to contact server
    1/27/08 12:43:00 PM: Failed to contact server
    1/27/08 12:43:12 PM: Failed to contact server
    I've also noticed a problem with hwmon, apparently:
    ra:~ administrator$ sudo /usr/sbin/hwmond
    hwmond will NOT run on this platform.
    Huh. Very peculiar. So, from what I can tell, it seems like SNMP is running and should be (probably is) responding, but Server Monitor is not getting in. I'm not familiar with Server Monitor, but one thing I noticed is that if I try to run an SNMP status without specifying an appropriate community, I get a similar result as Server Monitor:
    ra:~ administrator$ snmpstatus -c notARealCommunity localhost
    Timeout: No Response from localhost
    So, what community does Server Monitor use? Is there a way to change it? Is there somewhere that I can get a default SNMP configuration file that would work with Server Monitor?
    Any help would be appreciated.
