Server startup and initialization class
i have a swing based (non-webbased) application and i want to perform some initializations during server start up.
how can i do that ?
Brian Hanuska wrote:
I am using the DB2 universal driver with weblogic 8.1 sp2.
If the database is not available when the server is starting it continues to try to connect to the database, and never starts the server.
Is there any flag so that the server just throws an error and then continues startup?
Thanks in advance.Just set the initial capacity of the pool to zero.

Startup and Shutdown classes in OC4J (Oracle 9i App Server)
Hi,
We are in the process of porting our application from Weblogic 6 to Oracle 9i app server. We have a requirement for developing startup and shutdown classes. These need to be instantiated from Java code (and not through console).
If anyone knows how this can be achieved or have any documentation on the same, please reply back to .
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
MoinThe oc4j commands in the documentation for shutting down the server are:
STARTUP
java -jar orion.jar -install
SHUTDOWN
java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost/ <admin> <admin-password>
Can you just access these classes directly? -
Startup and Shutdown class not found
Hi, I try to use a startup and shutdown class on my WLS, but on startting show
this exception : weblogic.t3.srvr.FatalStartupException ... class failure post_java.class
, java.lang.ClassNotFoundException
the post_java.class is in .\mydomain\lib the same of weblogic.jar, in startWebLogic.cmd
is add it on classpath
Where is the place of Startup and Shutdown class ?
I use WLS 6.1 sp3 on Windows and UNIX (Soalris)
Tanks.Hi.
You need to add the directory where you have your startup class to your classpath. The
weblogic.jar file is named specifically in the classpath, so it's not enough to put your
classpath in the ./mydomain/lib directory.
The easiest thing to do would be to add ./mydomain/lib to your classpath in your start script.

Michael

Is it possible to call a java control upon server startup
I have a java control that creates business rules for validation of files submitted by users. This control
makes many calls to db controls and performs a lot of
fetch operations . Is it possible to invoke this control
upon server startup and cache the resultsIn the current release(8.1), calling controls from a plain Java class is not supported. Controls can only be invoked from a any one of the following Workshop components JWS/JPD/JPFs/or another control.
Hope this helps.

Managed Server Startup - Part Duex
Hello:
Is it possible to auto-start managed servers on WLS 10.3.5 under Solaris 10?
I read the thread "managed server startup" and did not want to hijack the thread. In my case, I have an init script that starts up Node Manager and one that starts up the Admin Server.
So, once those two processes are up, is there a way for the defined managed servers to auto-start without any manual intervention on a user's part? Yes, I do have CrashRecoveryEnabled=true but as I understand it, that is for when a managed server goes down. In my case, the Solaris server is booting up.
Thank you,
PerryUnless you have 50 managed servers then I can't understand why you would want that. Just start them all up at the same time from the admin console under 'control' tab of server page. What if you have a server or two that you don't want on for some reason? This would power it up regardless. I would think you would want to control that from node manager lifecycle. There may be a way to do that through scripting but it's probably not a best practice. We'll see if someone else chimes in on the subject. I am curious as well...

OC4J Server startup classes and JNDI
Hi,
I have been using server startup classes in standalone OC4J provided with BPEL developer install to populate data from the server.xml into the JNDI server.
Now I am deploying the BP to 10gAS and am unable to identify the configuration files that affect the contents of the JNDI server which is accessible from BPEL.
Can anyone advise?
Thanks,
TobyClemens,
What we would like to do is to lookup configuration details in OC4J's JNDI server.
As an example, we have an ftp web service that is used for functionality not available in the FTP adapters, deleting files, executing remote commands etc.
We need to store the details of ftp connections somewhere centrally, and jndi looks like a good option. Something slightly different we would like to do here is to be able to access the configuration details that the FTP Adapters use, but if that's not possible, seperate entries in the jndi server would be good.
To populate the JNDI server, we have written a server startup class which loads our custom configuration details at OC4J startup.
This works fine under the OC4J supplied with a developer install, but when we deploy our code to a full blown 10g AS we cannot access the config information. -
WLS Admin and managed server startup issue
Hi ,
In one of WLS Domain both the Admin Server and Managed Server startup is just hanging at the below mentioned point :

Try adding -Dfile.separator=\/ to the startup script and try.
Cheers,
Naveen -
I just moved to a new host with my own dedicated cloud server. Using CF9. Everything seems to be working fine with the server, but i get the following error when connecting to it via RDS through CF Builder 2.
RDS server message: could not initialize class com.adobe.rds.core.services.Messages
I get it when i first connect to the server, then if i try to access it again, it will let me in. I also get an error when i try to open the first file. Then its ok.
I have no idea what it can be, i have not run into this on any other server that I have connected to.Hello,
After 2 months of it not working for love or money. I got a new machine and ColdFusion Builder 2 and started over. It worked for a while. Then when the trial version timed out a few days ago it killed it again. With the same error. So it is definitely something that gets “switched” within the code or configuration settings. Rebooting about 3x seemed to fix it this time after entering the license number.
Yes to answer your questions below. Yes, I did all those things below. Re-checked and checked numerous times. Keep in mind the installation there worked for over a year then all of a sudden stopped. I hadn’t changed anything at all. And it just stopped dead, started throwing up that error.
I asked all the experts in my office. One guy knows CF and Java inside and out and could not figure it out. I searched the web and the issue is listed many times but with no real answers.
Thanks for getting back to me. I am up and running with new machine. But since I’ve seen the error on this machine now, I live in fear it will reappear and stop working. So if you come up with any thoughts I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
-Lyle -
Trying to create test project, and get NPE during server startup
Hi
I am trying to create simple test project using JSF RI (usually use myfaces), but I am getting a couple of NPE's during server startup.
I am using :
jetty (maven plugin)
jsf 1.2_03
facelets 1.1.12
I am probably missing something simple, but I just can't figure it out.

How to check Server Shutdown and Startup History in SAP
Hi guru's . One of the background job failed on saturday. And i want check the duration and the history when the server shutdown and startup. I can check the server startup time at ST02 t-code. But i want to check the entire history of server shut down. Please guide me through. Thanks.
Dear Ram,
You can see the System logs in SM21 . Background job failure can be viewed in SM37 .
As said before go through \usr\sap\TST\DVEBMGS00\work directory and see the logs. Files like dev_disp , dev_ms ,dev_rfc.trc ,stderr1,stderr2,stderr3,stderr4 will have the log information . These files will have the information after the last system start .
Anyway if want to see the old logs before server shutdown , see the old logs in old files like dev_disp.old,dev_ms.old .

AM and VO classes in oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/server
Hello,
I have created an OA search page using p7523554_R12_GENERIC for Release 12.0.6
I have created my project in oracle.apps.xxcus.objname.webui
I created:
my VO in oracle.apps.xxcus.objname.server
my AM in oracle.apps.xxcus.objname.serveri
my PG in oracle.apps.xxcus.objname.webui
my CO in oracle.apps.xxcus.objname.webui
I ftp-ed my VO xml, AM xml, PG xml, CO class to $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/webui.
I ftp-ed my AM and VO class to $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/server
Error:
When my OA page loads I get the error indicating my AM class file is not located in $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/webui
Workaround:
Thus, I ftp-ed my AM and VO class to $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/webui
And this time page loads perfectly fine.
My understanding is Oracle advises OA VO and AM class files to be ftp-ed(in bin mode) into $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/server
Please advise why AM and VO classes in $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/server appears to fail but AM and VO classes in $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/webui succeed.
And please advise if I have to include a step to get AM and VO classes working in $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/server path.
Thanks,
SanthoshHi,
My understanding is Oracle advises OA VO and AM class files to be ftp-ed(in bin mode) into $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/server - Yes you are right!
I ftp-ed my VO xml, AM xml, PG xml, CO class to $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/webui.
I ftp-ed my AM and VO class to $OA_JAVA/oracle/apps/xxcus/objname/server
You are wrong above. marked in bold. AM & VO should not be FTP to webui folder.
my VO in oracle.apps.xxcus.objname.server
my AM in oracle.apps.xxcus.objname.serveri
my PG in oracle.apps.xxcus.objname.webui
my CO in oracle.apps.xxcus.objname.webui
All files are created in correct directory. However it is recommended not to create directory in oracle/apps/....
Always create this like XXAP/oracle/apps/fnd/framework/toolbox/tutorial/server or webui
Now when you what to deploy all the files do remember where to move them.
Controller, Region, Page --> Webui folder
Application Module, View Object -- > Server folder
Entity Object --> Scheme/Server folder.
Remove the existing xxcus folder from server.
I tell you a simple tech. Just FTP xxcus Folder which is in MyClasses to Server $OA_JAVA/*XXX*/oracle/apps/
Run import command to import page to the Database.
XXX-->it could be anything like XXOracle or XXAP
Thanks

Optional Package class reference at server startup...gives class not found
I have a enterprise app having a webservice..the webservice (servlet) gets instantiated on server startup…It has reference of a class which is an optional package
All the manifest entries are correctly added to the ear..manifest.mf..
When the servlet is initialized at startup.. gives me a class not found error…
However, the app works fine..this is just a one time error(whenever the app is deployed fresh..)..
Any help would be appreciated
