Service URL - location & configuration question

Running CUCM 7.1.3...
Created a service modeled after the SDK 'measurement' example, to be used as a time clock.
It queries a SQL server for validation as well as inputting information to a table.
In development, I'm using a Windows server 2008 R2, with IIS 7.0.
I created the virtual directory on the 'default website', and used the following (example) URL when putting the service into CUCM
A local user was created, an a specialized App Pool (IPTC) was applied at the website level.
http://10.0.0.1/CiscoIPServices/timeclock/menu.asp
The service worked fine.
Transferred it to the Production side, and it doesn't work.
Production side is using Windows server 2003 with IIS 6.0.
App Pool (IPTC) is applied to the Virtual Directory, rather than the website.
We've tried several variations of URL - and each comes up with an error on the phone.
Note: the website it is attached to is the outside corporate website.
It does NOT use http:// - starts straight off with www._______
Using primarily 7942 phones, but some are newer. Doesn't matter which one you're using.
?? Is the http:// a required part of the URL when configuring a service in CUCM?
?? What other possible issues could be causing this to happen?
I've provided examples of my testing, with results.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Cindy
Examples: Service URL in bold -
http://10.0.x.x/CiscoIPServices/timeclock/menu.asp
Result in Browser -Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)
Result on Phone: Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)
http://www.mycompany.com/CiscoIPServices/timeclock/menu.asp
Result in Browser - Can see the XML of the page (but the http:// is stripped off the URL)
Result on phone - Error: Host Not Found
www.mycompany.com/CiscoIPServices/timeclock/menu.asp
Result in Browser - Can see the XML of the page
Result on Phone: Doesn't find the service at all.
//10.0.x.x/CiscoIPServices/timeclock/menu.asp - Error: Doesn't find the service at all.
Result in Browser -Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)
Result on Phone: Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)

Hi Cindy,
Most likely your phones do now have DNS configured and therefore are not able to resolve hostname part of service URL into IP address.
URLs with IP address may not work due to firewall between IP Phones VLAN and your production IIS or IP filters on the IIS server.
You can test the network infrastructure settings by moving your PC into the same VLAN as IP Phones and opening http://10.0.x.x/CiscoIPServices/timeclock/menu.asp   via browser.
Cheers,
Boris

  • Looking for Workflow Service URL in RAR Configuration

We are configuring RAR and are at Workflow step.
    Workflow contains four sections:

    2. Mitigation Control Maitenance
    3. Mitigation
    4. Workflow Service URL.
We are stuck at the fourth step, Workflow Service URL (This Web service URL is used to submit workflow requests to Compliant User Provisioning) and are not able to trace the URL in configuration guide.
Can anyone help me in providing the link for the URL

    Hi,
It's correct that the WS is the same for both 5.2 and 5.3.
You can get the URL by opening http://host:port/wsnavigator.
Expand AEWFRequestSubmissionService_5_2 and click on document.

  • Web service URL configuration for Xcelsius in BO XI3.1

Currently we can evaluate the BOE R2 and BOE XI3.1, and we are facing such a problem:
In R2, we configure the Web service URL for Tomcat in "...\Tomcat\webapps\businessobjects\enterprise115\desktoplaunch\WEB-INF\web.xml
", there is a parameter called "crystalxcelsius.webconnectorurl", we configure it like this:
    <context-param>
            <param-name>crystalxcelsius.webconnectorurl</param-name>
            <param-value>
                 http://XX:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/queryasaservice
            </param-value>
    </context-param>
How can we do the same configuration in BOE XI3.1?
We cannot find the same web.xml because the folder structure has changed.
After we deployed the Xcelsius dashboards from BOE R2 to BOE XI3.1, it failed and the error message shows:"Unable to load URL...".

The Xcelsius team is investigating this issue. We'll update you when possible. Meanwhile here is a suggestion from another user.
"The web service url setting was removed from XI R3 due to the changes in InfoView/CMC client action framework in XI R3. In XI R3, there are multiple web.xml files instead of just one web.xml. The parameters defined in Xcelsius' web.xml cannot be accessed by Crystal Report or WebI...
Anyway, I have a workaround might work (I never tried it myself). In Xcelsius design time, add a flashvars range name "CEWebServiceURL" and bind the value of this range to a cell that has the url of the web service you want to use at run-time. The SWF should use this url to refresh LiveOffice at run-time."

  • SQL 2012 R2 - SSRS with the Report Server Web Service URL, can't access

    Hello:
I am installing Dynamics CRM 2013.  When I am on RS Configuration manager; I am running into the SSRS (SQL 2012 on Server 2012)SQL issue, can't access the
    http://servername/:80/ReportsServer or
    http://servername/:Reports web pages
The database server has SSRS native mode installed, it is using a domain account for the service credentials.  This account also has permission to log on a service in the GPO
Account is a domain admin and is a local administrator
SQL server is 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2012.  User base is less than 60 people and they have SharePoint 13 on the same SQL server.  Server more than enough resources.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks..Dan

    Hi DCas1,
According to your description, you could not access
http://servername/:80/ReportsServer or http://servername/:Reports web pages from Reporting Services configuration manager, SSRS in configured in native mode and the account you used is a local administrator.
In Reporting Services, URLs are used to access the Report Server Web service and Report Manager. Before we can use either application, we need to configure at least one URL each for the Web service and Report Manager. If we are using the Reporting Services
Configuration tool to create or modify the URLs, we can accept the default values for a URL or specify custom values. When we create a report server URL, we must specify the following parts: Host name, port and Virtual directory. In order to improve the efficiency
of troubleshooting, I need to ask several questions:
Since the default URL is http://<computername>/reportserver, did you type the URLs manually? or the URLs configured in Reporting Services configuration manager are
    http://servername/:80/ReportServer and
    http://servername/:Reports?
Could you provide detailed information of error log(default location: %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles)?

  • What to specfify in CA Reporting services integration (Report server web service URL) when using SSL for both SharePoint and SSRS?

    Hello,
We are using Sharepoint 2010 and SQL Server reporting services 2008 R2.    We have the sharepoint site bound to port 443 using a certificate.   We also have the same certificate bound in the reporting services configuration manager's
web service URL tab.    In CA should we put the SSL URL or the non SSL URL?    Right now in CA it has the then non SSL URL,
http://fakehostname/ReportServer_REPORTSERVICE.     We have some sporadic issues and I am wondering if setting this to our SSL URL will help.    Please let me know
    if you have any questions.

    Hi,
Regarding this issue, it should be no issue for setting (https) according :

  • Web Service URL when saving AFO workbook

I am pretty sure there is a simple answer to this question. My ultimate goal is being able to schedule Analysis for Office Documents. I found a step by step document how to do so from user's perspective but I am running into issues where I need to configure BOE environment to allow saving and scheduling AFO document.
Here is document that outlines scheduling for AfO workbook.

When I try saving Analysis for Office document to BI environment system prompts for Web Service URL. Where I could find information what needs to be done to enable Web Service URL?

    Hi dear Tammy,
You can help me with this problem Problems with BOESystems.xml??

  • External Meeting Content access Lyncweb services URL vs Meet simple URL

So im really confused, i have my 2013 lync single server front end pool, i have my 2013 edge server and a i have a ISA2006 server as my reverse proxy, i think i have traffic flowing as i want to but i seem to be running into one last issue.
The DAMN MEET URL and the EXTERNAL WEB SERVICES URL
So both of these are set to point at my reverse proxy. i can see that when i access a meet url externally via the meet url it calls the external web services url, i can tell because it fails on the certificate i have set on the reverse proxy listener for
the external meet url.the reverse proxy takes the 443 request and shoots its off to 4443 on the front end external IIS site on the front end pool and that seems to work
So what do i do? clicking the meet url is calling the external web services url, which is failing on the certificate, of course as the web listner on the RP is listening for the MEET URL, i have no intention of purchasing public certificate with a SAN for
the external web services url, that seems overkill to me, is there something im not getting here?
Do I need the external web services url? im really only wanting to be able to send meetings to clients outside our domain with no access to it to be able to connect to remote conference, which makes me ask a second question, do i really need the edge server
    in place then either?
    thanks guys!

You cannot leave the external web services FQDN out of the certificate.
While the External Web Services FQDN and the Simple URLs may not always point to the same IP in larger scaled deployments, in smaller deployments they will be the same.  But you cannot just pick one and omit the other because you feel that they are
    redundant.
Lync clients are programmed to use both URLs at different times and both FQDNs must be included in the certificate's SAN field to meet the TLS security requirement otherwise some things will not function correctly.
You also must have the Edge Server in place and correctly deployed otherwise your external meetings will have no audio, video, or application sharing capabilities.  You'll basically be limited to hosting web conferences with only whiteboarding.  You'll
also need to publish a WAC (Office Web Apps) server to support PowerPoint sharing in these meetings as well.
In short you cannot simply pick and choose which server components are deployed, you need all of them and they need to be configured following best practice guidelines to have any semblance of a successful user experience.

  • Xcelsius for Reporting Services URL

    Hi,
I am trying to use sql server reporting services in my Xcelsius project. Configured Xcelsius Gateway Service on the SQL server. Created Data source and report. After this, I was trying to connect to the gateway from xcelsius designer. For this i added a reporting service button. In the button's properties, it asks for 'Xcelsius for Reporting Services URL'. Which URL should be specified here?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Shyam.

    The URL is
    u201Chttp://servername/xrs/xrs.asmx/GetReportsu201D
But make sure to test the installation, if its working or not. To test it just open a web browser and type the above url.

  • Web Service URL length limits, LV2013 vs LV2012

    (* CROSS POST: http://lavag.org/topic/18435-web-service-url-length-limits-lv2013-vs-lv2012/ *)
(* Please reply in this forum.  I have marked the other thread to put replies here. *)
Has anyone noticed a reduction to the limit on URL length for Web Services between LV versions 2012 and 2013?
Under LV2012, a RESTful web service appears to accept URL with lengths at least as long as 4096 characters.  With LV2013, the max URL length appears to be 511 characters for both RESTful and Project Item web services. Unfortunately for me the project I just converted trips over this issue. My goal with posting this query to here is to improve my understanding of this limitation before I decide how best to modify my code.  Certainly using POST rather than GET with a long URL is an option, but again, I'm looking to understand the change in limitation before I choose a solution.
To illustrate I have attached three mostly identical projects which demonstrate the issue.  In each case the project contains a webservice consisting of a single VI, "ComputeLength", which takes a String as an input parameter and which outputs the length of the string.  The three projects are as follows.
    1. LV2012 RESTful web service.
    2. LV2013 RESTful web service.
    3. LV2013 Project item web service.
The web service contains a single VI.  For the RESTful examples, the web service is started by selecting Deploy from the Build specification right click menu.  For the Project Item example, the web service is started by selecting Start from the MyComputer/WebService right click menu. The use of this example is demonstrated with the following URL:
(note that the port is 8080 for the two RESTful examples and is 8001 for the Project item web service if used in Debug mode, which is the default for the above instruction.)
    http://localhost:8080/webservice/computelength?string=1234567890
And the output looks like this.
    <Response>
    <Terminal>
    <Name>StringLength</Name>
    <Value>10</Value>
    </Terminal>
    </Response>
To see the issue, extend the string parameter such that the URL contains more than 511 characters beyond the port number.  For example something like this, http://localhost:8080/webservice/computelength?string=1234567890123456789012345678901234567890....(keep repeating)
For the LV2012 example the string parameter may be at least as long as 4000 characters, which I've demonstrated using Chrome as my browser.  For both of the LV2013 examples the URL is limited to 511 characters after the localhost and the port number.
Anyone know whether this is a bug or this is an intentional design change?  How about whether the URL length limit is configurable?
I am also consulting NI tech support and will report back their response.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks,
      Martin

Solution found.  Apparently starting in LV 2013, there is a default limit of 512 to the URL length.  The default limit may be overridden as described below.
    Martin
This is Brian in Applications Engineering from National Instruments. I am following up regarding the 511 character limit in your Web Service HTTP request following the port number. After some research I've figured out that the issue is related to a default web server setting called "LimitUri," which limits the maximum length of a URL. The default setting is 512 characters which is why we are seeing this issue.
There are multiple ways of changing the URL length limit depending on how you are using your web service. If you are publishing the web service using the Application Web Server then modify "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\NI WebServer\NIWebAppServer.conf" and add "LimitUri 4096" to the end of the file without the quotes.
If you are running the Debug Web Server by just clicking start on the web service then modify "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013\resource\webserver\niwsdebugserver.conf" and add "LimitUri 4096" to the end of the file without the quotes.

I did search everywhere but still I didn't find anything, please help me resolve this issue. I downloaded Sql server management studio 2014 from here-> http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-in/evalcenter/dn434042.aspx
Inside `win+r` as i type `services.msc` I'm unable to see any sql or service into it.

Of course not, SSMS = SQL Server Management Studio is just a tool/frontend, not a Service. You have to install SQL Server database engine.

  • "Services Registry not configured" popup when trying to search SR

    Dear Fellow VC 7.1 users,
When I try to use the search function on the services registry in VC for CE 7.1 EHP1 SP3, I get the "Services Registry Wizard" popup telling me that "Services Registry not configured." The original configuration was not done by me, so I cannot say whether or not it was done with the configuration wizards, but I can tell you what I have done to try to resolve the problem.
I have: configured the UDDI server; configured the Central Services Registry (ServicesRegistrySi), and ensured that the user the ServicesRegistrySiPort authenticates with has the roles SERVICES_REGISTRY_READ_WRITE and UDDI_TierN. I do not have an SLD configured in my CE 7.1 EhP1 environment, so I tried to follow the steps I found in an SDN how-to PDF doc that explained how to generate an SLD ID from the WSNavigator, but I was unable to do so because as soon as I clicked the "Service Registry" checkbox in WSNavigator, it threw an error message saying, "Cannot connect to Services Registry; check ServicesRegistrySi proxy definition settings."
What am I missing here? Any suggestions (or even hints) would be welcome.
    Thanks,
    Terry Barker

Thank you, Hezi, for your personalized attention. One month, a couple of WebEx sessions with Hezi, and one glacially slow customer message later, the problem is finally resolved!
Here's a recap of the resolution:
    1. Through the WebEx sessions with Hezi, we determined that the problem was in the UDDI server setup, not in Visual Composer.
    2. I Opened a customer message and got hooked up with my new best buddy, Hristo (in SAP Bulgaria?). Hristo logged into our CE 7.1 system using WTS (Windows Terminal Services) Over the course of a couple of weeks and several WTS sessions, Hristo found that the standard, recommended ServicesRegistrySIPort End Point URL did not work in our system (for an unexplained reason). Hristo gave me the following incomprehensible URL to use instead:
http://rnosappis1.igtsap.ad.igt.com:50000/sapws/sap.com/tc%7Eesi%7Euddi%7Esr%7Ews%7Eear_tc%7Eesi%7Euddi%7Esr%7Ews%7Eejbm_EJB_ServicesRegistrySiPort/ServicesRegistrySi/ServicesRegistrySiPort (You can find documents on SDN explaining the configuration of which I speak.)
    3. That got us past the "services registry not configured" error in VC, but a service registry search in VC found no services. In addition, we were now not able to publish any new web services in the registry.
    4. The next problem Hristo found was in the UDDI_DESTINATION and CLASSIFICATION_DESTINATION URLs. Ours were set up to look at SAP's public registry. I set them up according to the how-to documents I found on SDN. That got us past the "can't contact server" message to a new "web proxy authentication" error when trying to publish a service.
    5. The first problem with the publishing was the need to use fully qualified domain names in the WSDL URL. At first I used just "hemxintf-p" but I really needed to use "hemxintf-p.he.ad.igt.com".
    6. The second problem here turned out to be a mistake on my part when setting up the exclude list on the HTTP Proxy setup in NWA. The exclude list tells the system NOT to use the HTTP proxy when contacting certain (presumably internal) domains. I had used commas to separate the domains in the exclude list; as it turns out, you must use the vertical bar character as the separator.
After all this, along with frustration bordering on desparation, I can now publish web services in the SR, browse and test them in WSNavigator, and search for and use them in Visual Composer. I hope that my detailed description of the resolution in my case might save others from suffering similar frustration. Thank you, Hezi. Thank you, Hristo. Thank you, God! I can now get on with my life!
    Cheers,
    Terry

  • Difference between Web Service URL and Report Manager URL

What is the difference between Web Service URL and Report Manager URL in Reporting Service configuration manager in SQl Server 2008 Reporting Setrvices

Another way to put it is the Web Service URL is just that, its used for services that are connecting to issue API calls.  The Report Manager URL is the nice GUI that users should use.  If you click the links, you should see the difference.  I
am sure you have likely done that, but functionally one is for programmatic purposes and the other to be the front end graphical user interface.
    Sometimes pictures help as well...
