Session timeout problem with CCA

I have developed a Client applicaiton in ASP.Net 2005 using the SOAP Api provided in Oracle CCA 8.1.3
The System details are as under:
Product – Oracle CCA 8.1.3
Server on Windows 2003 Server – Standard Edition
Web Server – BEA Weblogic 10g3
Database – Oracle 10g
Java Version – 1.5 Update 10
I am facing a problem where the users session changes every 5 Minutes 30 Seconds. I get the "Session Change" message and at this point I cannot see the Agent on the CCA Agent Monitoring screen. What I need to do now is to Reopen the session. Upon Repoening the Session I would get the same SessionId from the WebServer that I had get earlier.

DNS Lookup Timeout Problems with Cisco SA520w

Hello,
We are trying to configure our new Cisco SA520w with our Internet connection.
As soon as we replace our existing Linksys RV042 with the Cisco SA520w, we find that DNS lookups start to take longer and longer to resovle. For example, an nslookup against yahoo.com will timeout, or take 10-12 seconds. Web browser requests simillarly take 30-45 seconds to resolve.
We've tried using both Google's and OpenDNS servers, as well as our ISP's nameservers. In all cases, the long DNS resolution takes place.
At first we thought that the firewall was misconfigured. However, we removed all firwall rules, and continued to experience the problem.
We've tried checking and unchecking the DNSProxy checkbox, but this doesn't seem to have any noticeable impact.
Does anyone have any idea about which setting impact DNS looksups, or what else we might try to troubleshoot this issue?

Regarding the question on 5-10 days for product support to become active, I followed up with the CA team and received the following, which is good for All partners to know...
Below is a description of the primary cause of delays in contract registration.
Contract registration takes 24-48hrs. Delays are generally caused by the Reseller/Partner who doesn't provide the product serial numbers to Cisco when they purchase the service. The contract cannot be registered until the Reseller or the Disti provides the serial numbers to Cisco via SMS3 (or B2B). In cases where Disti doesn't have a mechanism to collect the serial number before the product is shipped, or in cases of drop-ship, the Distis often have to track down their Resellers to get the serial numbers to Cisco.
There is a new program being discussed (drawing board now, so not available today) which will to allow the end-user to register the contract themselves, thus eliminating the need for the Disti or the Reseller to collect the serial number an input it into SMS3.
But in any case (now or later), when a customer calls in for support, if their contract has not yet been registered, the SBSC can work with the Global Entitlement Team to look-up the contract via the PO or SO number and complete the registration so service can be provided.

Session management problems with SSO

I've been getting an Apex app tied to SSO as a partner app (per http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/sso_partner_app.html). So far, it sort of works. If I go to my apex app, it redirects me to SSO, where I authenticate and end up back in the apex app. Great. Here are two problems I've run into:
1. I set it up as "My Application as Partner App." I used "MY_PARTNER_NAME" as SSO Partner Application Name. In the list of SSO Partner Apps on the SSO Admin page, my partner app name is also MY_PARTNER_NAME. It gives the following info:

How to deal with session timeouts?
With our current configuration of using single signon, when the web session times out (currently 20 minutes of inactivity), the user loses anything they have entered on a service form. The use case is that a user starts filling out a form and gets interrupted, goes to lunch, etc, returns and spends time filling out the form (in the mean time the web session has timed out). When they try to submit the service they get re-logged in through SSO and they have lost all of their entries in the service. This creates some very unhappy users.
I'd like to know how long other customers set their web session timeouts to and if anyone has come up with ways of handling this situation - either through somehow re-establishing the session or through warnings to the user about how long they have to complete a form.

The timeout period for HTTP sessions that are created in the corresponding Web application. After being inactive for the specified timeout, the HTTP sessions expire. The period is specified in minutes:

You can only change the session timeout property in the applicationu2019s own deployment descriptors. This is not possible for the Global Web Descriptor.

LCP timeout problem

I got PPP LCP timeout problem with ISDN connection. Line was drop every 20 sec. I already try to change speed already.(56k , 64k). Only saw Open confreq message(BR0/0:1 LCP: O CONFREQ [Closed] id 113 len 32) not reply from other side. Pls advice me for this problem.

Updating session-timeout value thru JSP

I have a requirement that updates the Session time-out in the path Tomcat\conf\web.xml as given below.

For exanple ,I want to set the session-timeout as 50 thru some html page .The necessary updation into the fle should replace the existing session -timeout 30 with 50.
The entire process should be done using jsp or servlets or thru general java program.

Since the web.xml is loaded at startup of the server engine and affects the session-timeout of all sessions created in that invocation of the servlet engine I can't see how trying to update this file would help you.
If you want to update the session timeout after the engine has started up then you must use the method on HttpSession.setMaxInactiveInterval(50).

How to Sync the session timeout of Portal with CMS Server

Hi Experts,
We have a custom application build on our portal which will launch the reports of InfoView. It works fine untill the portal session timeout. Whenever the session timeout occurs and reloads it I am unable to launch the reports and getting the below exception.
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.exception.SDKException$OCAFramework: Unable to reconnect to the CMS server_ip:6400. The session has been logged off or has expired. (FWM 01002)
Portal is configured with SSO. Please adviese how to set the settings of session timeout in such way that Portal sync session timeout with CMS server.

There is no such option to sync Portal timout with CMS server.
To resolve your problem you have only option to set your CMS server timout to MAX value.

Discoverer Plus - Kills the browser with error msg for session timeout

If left idle for more than few minutes, Discoverer Plus instance will kill itself with an error.
i guess it kills the IE browser instance with an error message when Session Timeout occurs. The problem is I have to re-login in a new IE browser.
Is this normal behavious, or a bug. Any workaround to stop this happen. Please can someone help me, we are going on for a production rollover very soon.

The pref.txt file has session time out parameter that can be controlled. You can increase the time out value.

Problem with Frameset and page session

All,
I am having a problem with Framesets and page session attributes. I
have a client who's application uses a three frame frameset. They
have a requirement on several pages that when a button is pushed two
different pages load into the right and left frames. The way they
are accomplishing this is that on the pages were this is required,
they are adding target="_top" to the form declaration in their JSP.
Then they store the page names they want to display in session,
forward the request to the frameset, the frameset then determines
which pages to display based on the session variables. This works
exactly how they want it to.
Here is our problem. We need to store some information in page
session attributes. We have tried to get a handle to the desired
view bean and call the setPageSessionAttribute method. However,
since we are forwarding to the frame and the frame handles displaying
the desired JSP, that view bean we had the handle to is not the one
that is created to hand the display of the JSP.
The next thing I tried was to use the request object. In the
handleBtnRequest method, I set an attribute in the request object. I
then query the request object in the beginDisplay event of the view
bean. When the frame is reset the request object does not contain
the attribute that I have set. I'm confused by this because I
thought the request object would be available to me throughout the
life of the request.
Given the above information, does anyone have any suggestions? Also,
am I going about this in the wrong manner.
The client had been storing this information in user session, which
seemed to work. However, since the data being stored dealt
specifically with data for the requested page, we felt that storing
it as page session was more appropriate.

Problem with Sessions in Servlets

I'm having a problem with sesions with servlets. It seems that if someone logs into my website, which is running on all servlets, while another person is logged on, the second person gets the session of the first person.
I'm using
HttpSession session = request.getSession(true);to get the session in each page. The session contains a user object which shows if the user is logged in and what permissions.
The session should be unique to the client computer right? Or am I jsut screwing this up big time?

Yes, each client will have their own session. However, you may be testing incorrectly:
In Firefox, for example, all instances of the application running on the same machine will share the same cookies, therefore the same session, and would be considered one client.
MS IE will do the same if you use File - New to open a new wondow rather than clicking on the desktop icon.
If the different clients are using different machines and still getting shared data, then you may be using class-level variables in the servlet, which would not be thread safe and could lead to your problems...

Problem with sessions in Kate Editor

Hey guys!
I'm using Kate Editor to code and i'm having problems with sessions. If kate is open and I logout KDE, when I come back to KDE all my customizations in Kate's session (activated plugins, font size, etc) are lost.
If I manually close Kate before logout from KDE, all the customizations are kept when a manually start Kate. I tried a lot of workarounds, but none worked.
Is this a bug? Someone else with this issue?

The Warning errors are simply because you don't have the tablespaces, users, and roles defined in your application system under the DB Admin tab. Unless it is important to you to capture the physical implementation of your tables exactly as well as the table definitions, you can safely ignore these. If the physical implementation IS important to you, then you need to create these tablespaces, roles and users under the database that you created under the DB Admin tab before you start the capture.
The Error is because in the set of objects you are capturing there is a foreign key that references the table named "PLEASANT". This table must be among the objects that you are capturing, or must already be in a Table Definition in your application system in the repository.

Problem with Sessions in JSP

I am working on a JSP based website, where I am facing problem with sessions. The user is asked to login by providing her id and password. If found correct, a bean is created and populated with all her details and placed in session scope. I plan to use the information stored in the bean on other related pages until she logs out.

Puzzled, can anyone help, where am I going wrong? Let me add here, I am new to JSP and hence don't have much resources with me.

There are several ways sessions can be exchanged between the browser and the server in a j2ee web application.
1. The default is through cookies. However when the client does not accept cookies, the server appends the session id to the url.
2. Some servers also facilitate session information exchange using session id in the url even if the client does accept cookies. This is usually ahieved through a setting in some server configuration file.
You will have to find out why the server in your application is appending the session id to the url.
Whatever be the case, the server should be able to look up the session from the incoming request (be it from the session id in the url or a session cookie).
When session information is exchanged through the JSESSIONID in the url, you should ensure that each and every url that goes to the server has this input parameter. To do that all links and form post urls in your servlet/jsp should be treated with a call to encodeURL().
For example, in a jsp
