Set an object equal to another (ie Panel = Panel)

It is kind of hard for me to subject this out. What I am trying to do is to set an object o equal to another object, but within components.
panelComponents.mxml
<mx:Panel ...>
<mx:Script>

public var op:otherPanelComponents;
public function init():void{
this = op;

</mx:Panel>
otherPanelComponent.mxml
<mx:Panel ...>
//do stuff
</mx:Panel>
So, my programming logic tells me that since both of these are objects and they are panels, they can be equal to each other. How do I do this?
I hope it was clear.

• Create a trigger/stored procedure to set one column equal to another

Hey guys,
I have two columns in a table, and when column A is updated or inserted, I need the database to automatically update column B (in the same table) to be equal to that. I can't create a trigger AFTER INSERT OR UPDATE, because it's the same table and it gives me the mutating tables error.
Any help is appreciated.

How have you defined your trigger? It sounds like you should just be able to do
BEGIN
:new.columnB := :new.columnA;
END;I assume if you are getting a mutating table error that your trigger is trying to query the table. I don't see a need to query the table.

• How do you set one column equal to another?

how do i?
at cell B2 i would like to enter a number. in column C, i would like to have the same value for c2 through c11 cells. so, c2 through c11 i would like the value .2 in each cell. in column D, i would like the values found when columns B and C are multiplied. i would like the value of B3 to be the value found in D2, b4 to be the value found in D3, b5 to be value found in D4, etc.
is that possible to do using formula for columns? or something, well short of hand coding each cell.
thanks,
g.

let me try to clear up what i was asking, but no guarantees here.
i was trying to create a spreadsheet that would allow me to calculate the interest on an initial amount of money. i was a little frustrated when i wrote the post. i didn't understand how to do it using a construct like (D2:D20) = (B2:B20) * (C2:C20), which as far as i can tell is incorrect syntax, grammar, etc., just wrong. really wrong!
i'm not an accountant, as you can ready tell. i think though this is called simple interest.
ok, here's what i was looking to do, by way of an example:
given $1000 and an interest rate/ or rate of growth of 20% annually, calculate the amount of money one would have after 25 years. compounded annually.
$1000 * 0.20 = 200
$1200 * 0.20 = 240
$1440 * 0.20 = 288
$1728 * 0.20 = 345.60
$26,623.33 * 0.20 = 5,326.67
i realized what asked for was not this, well after i had posted and tried my post request by hand. so
i really understand the confusion.
i sure there is a built-in function for this, but i don't think i would have recognized it, because i don't know the financial terminology.
using the copying and pasting method, i built the first two line above and decided it had to be a better way, solving this kind of problem is what spreadsheet programs do... i copied B3 to cell B4, i copied cell C3 to cell C4, and i copied D3 to D4. copied and pasted. to my surprise, of course, because i had not read the manual completely, it copied the function to the cells and used the correct last values. (confusing here, but i hope you follow) after seeing that, i copied B4 and selected B5 - B21 and pasted, B4 to those selected B cells. i copied C4 and selected C5 - C21 and pasted, C4 to those C cells i had selected. that put 0.20 into each. i copied D4 and selected D5 - D21 and pasted to those selected D cells.
i seems to have worked.
i do have a question though. let's say instead of using 0.02 in column C i used 1.2. this would give me the amount of money i would have without having to add the initial to the interest made.
1000 * 1.2 = 1200
how do i assign the value, 1200, to another cell without using the copy and paste method? or is copying and pasting the way to do these kinds of things.
thanks everyone,
g.

Depending on the development environment, I can imagine that DW has a problem.
My systems is Windows7, i7 processor, 8GB ram and it does take a while for DW to add an extra collapsible panel.
Possible solutions
use accordion panels
hand code the second collapsible panel
use a Collapsible Panel Group
To hand code all you have to do is add the following to your document, in the appropriate places amking sure that the ID corresponds.

Tab

Content

and
var CollapsiblePanel2 = new Spry.Widget.CollapsiblePanel("CollapsiblePanel2");

• Collapsible Panel within another Collapsible Panel HEIGHT ISSUE

Having an issue with the height of a collapsible panel that has another collapsible panel within it not adjusting. I am using Dreamweaver CS5.
When I try the fix of changing line 431 in .js (where you change "px" to "auto" where it says this.content.style.height = this.toHeight + "auto";) it does not work in IE7 or Firefox. If I change the height inferences in the .js on lines 392, 431, and 439--it worksperfect in Firefox, however it throws an error in IE7. Anyone have a clue???
Here is my page: http://www.l-3choosewisely.com/dev/
username: owl
password: l3ae2011
Help would be greatly appreciated. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me!

For right now I have "semi-fixed" the issue, by adding a min-height to my second collapsible panel set, but really am NOT HAPPY
with it... please help me, it has to be something with the auto-height... I know I am looking right at it and just not seeing it.

• Nested object equality - design pattern

Looking to solve a problem in my own code, I wanted to see if and how the problem is solved in the java library.
I would have liked this code to output "true", to see how it's done.
Set set1 = new HashSet();
set1.add("a value");
set1.add(set1);
Set set2 = new HashSet();
set2.add("a value");
set2.add(set2);
System.out.println(set1.equals(set2));Well the code ends with a StackOverflowError on hashCode(). Just using a Set which implements hashCode to return a constant value would shift the problem to the equals-method.
I think one possible solution would be to implement the hashCode method to set a instance variable (computingHash = true) while hashcodes of fields are computed. If the variable is set when hashcode is invoke a RecursiveHashRuntimeException is thrown which is is caught by the invoking hashcode method which would then return a constant value or ignore the corresponding field for hash-computation.
Similarly the equals method would add the obj (passed to equals) to a set (instance variable) named assumeEqualTo, if the obj is in assumeEqualTo when the method is invoked it returns true. The value is removed from assumeEqualTo before the method that added it returns.
This approach would require the equals and hashcode methods to be - at least partially - synchronized (if multithreading is an issue), an alternative would be to use ThreadLocal variables to detect and handle recursive invocations.
I'm not sure how the two approaches compare in terms of performance, and I would welcome any other approach to solve the problem. Note that the class being compared should not be required to know details about the contained classes and the nesting may also be indirect as in:
Set set1 = new HashSet();
Set set2 = new HashSet();
set1.add("a value");
set1.add(set2);
set2.add("a value");
set2.add(set1);
System.out.println(set1.equals(set2));Also it would be nice if the impact on performance could be kept minimal for all instance that happens not to be self-containg.
cheers,
reto

should be slightly different as for sets the orderis
irrelevant
I don't follow. You would presumably only return
true as a whole if every element in the Set also
returned true. So, yes, order is irrelevant. just wanted to say that you must return true iff you find a mapping from set1 to set2 where all elements are equals
No, I mean that if you add a Set to itself, and then
iterate over it, you will implicitly be performing
recursion, leading to a StackOverflowError
eventually. That is why you need to store a
collection (or array) with all the objects already
analyzed. What do you mean by "already analyzed"? I mean how would you prevent recursion with this?
You need to compare what is being
currently being inspected along with checking what
you already processed for object equality (==) so you
do not get the stack overflow.I don't get it, in
Set set1 = new HashSet();
Set set2 = new HashSet();
set1.add(set2);
set2.add(set1);
set1.equals(set2);The equals method returns true iff set2.equals(set1), which would - in the algorithm I proposed - return set1.add(set2) which is true as set2 is contained in the Set assumeEqualTo. I interpreted the contract specified by java.util.Set to return true on equals for indistinguishable object - not sure if this is correct for mutually referencing sets, but pretty convinced for non-refrencing self containing sets, as in my first example or for all sets returned by:
createSet() {
Set s1 = new HashSet();
Set s2 = new HashSet();
s2.add(s1);
s1.add(s2);
}Imho, it would break be against the specification in java.util.Set to return false on createSet().equals(createSet()).

• Question about "java.lang.Object.equals()".

public class TestEquals {
private int a;
private int b;
public TestEquals(int a,int b) {
setA(a);
setB(b);
public int getA() {
return a;
public void setA(int a) {
this.a = a;
public int getB() {
return b;
public void setB(int b) {
this.b = b;
public static void main(String[] args) {
TestEquals te01 = new TestEquals(1,2);
TestEquals te02 = new TestEquals(1,2);
System.out.println("te01 equals to te02: " + te01.equals(te02));
te01.setA(2);
System.out.println("te01 equals to te02: " + te01.equals(te02));
}The result is:
te01 equals to te02: false
te01 equals to te02: false
Why the first case is false?

You didn't override Object.equals() in your TestEquals class. So, you are calling Object.equals(), which just compares reference values. You need to write your own equals() method (presumably, make sure te01.a==te02.a and te01.b==te02.b). Depending on what you do with your objects, you would want to override Object.hashCode(), too.

• Check which fields are covered by one set of views and not another

Hi all,
I am having some problems formulating a query to find the set of fields that are covered by one set of views and not another.
I won't paste the abomination I'm currently butting heads with but basically I'm using INFORMATION_SCHEMA.VIEW_COLUMN_USAGE
I need underlying field name (not alias), view that includes it and table that it comes from.
Any pointers would be greatly helpful

Hi, with the script below you can find all the dependencies of all view
USE AdventureWorks2012;
GO
SELECT OBJECT_NAME(referencing_id) AS referencing_entity_name,
o.type,
o.type_desc AS referencing_desciption,
COALESCE(COL_NAME(referencing_id, referencing_minor_id), '(n/a)') AS referencing_minor_id,
referencing_class_desc, referenced_class_desc,
referenced_server_name, referenced_database_name, referenced_schema_name,
referenced_entity_name,
COALESCE(COL_NAME(referenced_id, referenced_minor_id), '(n/a)') AS referenced_column_name,
is_caller_dependent, is_ambiguous
FROM sys.sql_expression_dependencies AS sed
INNER JOIN sys.objects AS o ON sed.referencing_id = o.object_id
WHERE
o.[type] = N'V'
--and referencing_id = OBJECT_ID(N'Sales.vSalesPerson')
GO
You can specify the name of a view in the WHERE clause
hope this will help you

I will connect to server and monitor the remote server JVM , There is a object of User, I want to change its value by the Java Debugger Interface by client.
so how to set its value by the client, and I can not got the User bean at client.
I know the basic type filed value changed as follows:
Value newValue = vmMachine.mirrorOf("change var value");// this field is a string.
stackFrame.thisObject().setValue(field, newValue);
But a Object , how can I change its value.
Thanks Advanced.

ObjectReference.setValue() is the method for chaining the value of an Object's field. First you need to find the specific Object you want to change, though.

I set up my password in another language, but after the upgrade to iOS7, I cannot log in because I only have the default keyboard (english). I tried wiping the phone using iCloud, but the my phone is not connected to the internet, even though I have all bars and was connected to WiFi Smh. This is really my fault for not changing back to a normal password. Has anyone had this issue? I probably going to have to do factory restore (Yay! #sarcasm), I am just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, or even better found another resolution.

It´s a bug! No real solution available. Need to reset (start- and home- buttons pressed while connected to iTunes) and register as new device!

• How to set Principal object?

Hello,
I have two web applications. The "app1" is the one we are developing and retrieving the Principal object. The "app2" is a black box web application which we have no way to modify. We can only add parameters in web.xml. The business flow is that once the Principal object is retrieved in "app1", the "app1" calls "app2". The "app2" is looking for User_Principal object. The document says "USER_PRINCIPAL = (The user name is retrieved from a call to getUserPrincipal().getName() on the HttpServletRequest object for the current request in a servlet or JSP)". If I understand this correctly, the "app2" is going to look for "HttpServletRequest". How can the "app1" set Principal object so that "app2" can retrieve it from "HttpServletRequest"? As far as I know there is not "setUserPrincipal()" method in "HttpServletRequest". So the app1 cannot use "HttpServletRequest".
Thanks in advance,
Mustafa

The UserPrinciple is set by the server after the user has been successfully authenticated. You should force the user to login to the second application using the <security-constrain> entry in web.xml. If your user has already been authenticated in your first application than make sure that you have the Realm the user is authenticated to available for both web apps.

does making objects equal null help the gc handle memory leakage problems ?
does that help out the gc to collect unwanted objects ??
and how can I free memory avoid memory leakage problems on devices ??
best regards,

memory leakage problems ?To an extent yes. During the mark phase it will be easier for the GC to identify the nullified objects on the heap while doing reference analysis.

??Same answer as earlier, Eventhough you nullify the object you cannot eliminate the reference analysis phase of GC which definitelely would take some time.

problems on devices ??There is nothing like soft/weak reference stuffs that you get in J2SE as far as J2ME is concerned with. Also, user is not allowed to control GC behavior. Even if you use System.gc() call you are never sure when it would trigger the GC thread. Kindly as far as possible do not create new object instances or try to reuse the instantiated objects.

• Looking for a way to programmatically set the visible portion of the front panel when a subVI opens

I am looking for a way to programmatically set the visible portion of the front panel when a subVI opens. Haven't found any posts that relate, but I'm not sure how to ask the right question. To be clear, I want to write a helper VI to go through a list of subVIs to make sure the background images are all in the same place when their respective subVIs open. I hate manually playing with scroll bars before I save each of the VIs... I'm figuring I need to find the top/left location of the background image (know how to do this already) and then set a VI FP property to these values or some offset, but I can't find the relevant property. FP:run-timeposition:custom looked promissing, but only affects the location of the window, not the area of the front panel the window is displaying.
Solved!

Cool. Getting closer. The way I implemented your suggestion affects the subVI only if it is open. I can use this to do what I'm after, perhaps putting the code into each subVI. Maybe open all subs, run the helper, and save. Seems like I'm missing the elegant version...
