Set Cell or Row to read only if certain condition is met

Greetings,
As the subject suggest, I need to set Cells or Rows to Read Only or "Gray out" If Certain attribute doesnt contain any value.
The requirement is to search for records of certain range and display it in the table. And the records will not be editable (read only) if certain attribute/field of the record is NULL. In another words that particular row will be gray-ed out.
Right now I am able to extract out the range of records out and display it in the table but I am not able to set the display of the records/ rows to read only. Do note only certain row needs to be set to row only depending on a particular attribute.
I was to code these in WDDOMODIFYVIEW()... anyone have any solution to this? Points will be given of course. ")

Please dont use the DOMODIFY method for such changes.
The Properties mapped to the context are designed for exactly this purpose.
Your context node should be extended with another attribute. Eg attr_y_Read_only.
The read_only or enabled attribute of field y would then be mapped to this attribute.
Depending on cell editor type it may be called enabled or read only.
You then set this new attribute to true or false appropriately for each element in the node.
This new attribute, although inside the node, need not be displayed as part of the table.
It is there to help control fields in the each element.

I have a question that I hope you can help me with:
Is it possible to have rules that become active only in certain circumstances, for example, if the RDD of the sales order is today or tomorrow?
I have limited knowledge on the topic; so your help will be greatly appreciated.
This is my scenario:
A sales order is raised in plant A for Material X, if there isn't enought inventory of Mat. X, there will be a rule to look for inventory in plant B. If stock is found in plant B; then an ATP Tree structure is created, which is then turned into a purch req; and then into an STO from Plant B to Plant A. Then the shipment is sent to the customer from Plant A. This is good, however, this is not what we want for sales orders that are placed with too much time in advance; because by the time the sales order needs to be delivered, the inventory may be available in Plant A, and those requirements are meaningless at that point. Any ideas of how to handle this? Thanks in advance!

Here are my answers:
If the requirement is placed upon B, how is it possible to later have excess inventory in A?
If the sales order was placed let's say 7 weeks in advance; during that time the whse could have received inventory from the plant.
This is mainly why I need to find a way for the rule to do the substitution and create the requirement in B, only if RDD is very close to today's date.
Is there a reason why wouldn't ship directly from B to the customer? (instead of first moving the stock to A)
Yes there is, the requirement of the business is that any sales order raised in A, must be shipped from A; but stock must be found in alternate locations to satisfy the order. If stock is not found, then the order is cut and shipped.
Is A a plant, depot, or both?
Is B a plant, depot, or both?
How is 'B' normally supplied?
Are you using MLATP? CTP?
Both are depots; and are supplied from different manufacturing plants across the country.
We are using MLATP.

About the first part of your problem : User with permission and user without permission.
To meet your needs I would have defined a Group named "WithPermission" and associated this group to a Member (user) "A"
While other users would not have been associated with this group.
When an user login I would have checked what groups that are associated with. If the group "WithPermission" was found I would have allowed the current login user to write "My Example". If the current login user was not associated to group name "WithPermission". The user would not have been able to edit the field.
I did a search in the metamodel object and I found nothing Method. Following my reading it seems that it is not possible. Read below.

As described by Dirk I think the only thing you can do is to make a check on a specific username. Unfortunately it will be "hard coded" in your program. Or If you can by vb script access the repository tables. You could resolve your problem by checking Group permission associated to each users logged in..

How to set a MessageTextInput to be Read Only for a specific row?

In Benefits Self Service, particularly the Update Beneficiaries page, it lists all your eligible Beneficiaries including yourself. The table has the following columns displayed for each beneficiary: Beneficiary, Relationship, Social Security Number, Primary %, Contingent %, Clear. This is the page where you allocate the Primary % and the Contingent %. The Primary % and Contingent % are MessageText Input.
We have a requirement that we wouldn't want an employee to designate himself/herself as a beneficiary. However, the employee is being listed as a beneficiary along with all the other eligible beneficiaries. Oracle says it is an intended functionality to include the employee in the beneficiary. Is there a way thru Controller Object extension to set the Primary % and Contingent % as Read Only but only for the row corresponding to the employee to prevent the employee from accidentally allocating himself/herself as a beneficiary.
I know there is the SPEL functionality but this requires me to add a transient attribute to the View Object corresponding to that table. But everytime I make a change to the View Object either by adding a transient attribute or some other changes, I end up getting an error on the standard Relation attribute of that view object. The error is something like "Relation set attribute failed for View Object". I cannot get pass this error and I'm not sure what's causing this. I see other people in this forum have encountered the same problem when extending view objects but no specific solution was offered nor any clear explanation of the cause.
So I thought if there's any way this could be done thru Controller Object extension. If so, please let me know how. The challenge for me I think is finding the bean corresponding to those Message Text Input but only for a specific row in the table.

I also tried extending the View Object but without changing anything to the SQL so it is exactly the same as the standard view object but I still get the "Attribute set for Relation in view object BeneficiaryPeopleVO1 failed". Based from this, extending the view object whether any change has been made or not affects the standard transient Relation attribute.

Select the current row in read only querry VO

I am using jdev 11.1.1.5
I had created a Finyear EO with corresponding VO
I had also created a read only querry VO [PostdGLhdlnVO]
I had created a viewlink between FinyearVO and PostdGlhdlnVO with following conditions
FinyearVO.bu = PostdGLhdlnVO.bu
FinyearVO.year = PostdGLhdlnVO.year
I need to select the current row and print that row using println statement. as i am using readonly querry while i drag and drop the PostdGLhdlnVO i cant able to select the current line (i.e., when user clicks the current row)
My scenario:
I need to create a non database checkbox for every row in that table [PostdGLhdlnVO] which will get the current row
can anyone help me to create a nondatabase checkbox for that table

ME21N, Account Assignment, to set G/L Accout field 'read only

Hi,
I am creating PO with reference to Purchase Requisition (using T-Code ME21N). The fields 'Cost Centre' and 'G/L Account' under Account Assignment Tab are needed to be rendered 'Read only'.
The 'Cost Centre' Field has been made Read Only using User Exit. I am not able to do the same for 'G/L Account' field. Please suggest a possible way to do the same. Field Exit is not working and i have experimented with lots of BADIs, but to no avail.

I have done as you have told. This is working fine while creating
PO with reference to Purchase Requisition, but the problem arises when we try to create PO by simply putting Account Assignment Category 'K' along with other relevant data.
The G/L Account field is in display mode, obviouly due to configuration i have done, and thus we are not able to put value in it. It is interesting to note that SAP is itself determining and displaying G/L account in this case.We are checking if this is the case with all test cases. If so then our problem can be considered solved.

Restricting certain users groups to read only for certain folders

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but hey, hopefully someone might now the answer or direct me to the correct one.
I'm writing a VB program to amend ACLs for specific user groups.
Effectively, I make all prior year folders read only, whereas the default for the group is Modify, Delete etc. This means they can continue to work in the "new year folders", but historic years is List/read only.
I've got to the point the program does everything I want, i.e. stops folder creation7deletion, file & folder name changes, copying for the historic years, but does not prevent deletion of files in the folder. Effectively I set Deny access on the
historic folders.
Testing using the Windows GUI would appear to resolve the problem is I change the Deny Special Permission (for the group) from "This folder only" to "This folder & files".

Your right, when I added the flags I got the following error at execution
{"No flags can be set. Parameter name: inheritanceFlags"}
I've developed a work around, which gives me exactly - subject to further testing - what I want. I simply mark each file in the relevant folders with a Deny Delete option.
I will however explore the DirectorySecurity class option, but initial review of the www seems a little shy on VB examples.

You should be able to use FileSecurity and DirectorySecurity the same way (they have identical methods). Since this is a scripting forum, I'll provide a PowerShell example (which is fairly close to C# and VB; they all use the exact same classes):

Best practice for making form read-only at certain steps in process?

I have a process with a single form and 4 Assign Task operations. During Assign Task operations 1 and 3, the form is edited. During Assign Task operation 2 and 4, it should be read-only (it is reviewed and acknowledged, but not changed). There is no single criteria in the form data that indicates whether a form should be read-only or not -- this is only signaled by the step in the process. What is the best way to manage the read-only state?
Is there a way to make the form read-only via a setting in Workbench, or should I do this via a script in the form?

How do I set my wife's iPhone to only see certain iCal calendars on her iPhone?

My wife and I just purchased 2 iPhone 4S's. We are sharing one Addple ID and one iCloud account with our iMac. I keep several iCal calendars, which were all created on our iMac. I am able to access them and get alerts from my iPhone with no problem. However, she also receives the tasks from all of the calendars on her iPhone as well. Even after I click the calendar icon on her iPhone > go to the iCloud calendars and uncheck all of my calendars, my tasks still keep showing up on her phone. How can I set it so she only sees calendars she'd created or those that are intended to be shared? Do we have to have 2 Apple IDs and/or iCloud IDs for this?

I'm not sure why when you uncheck the calendars on her phone that the calendars are still visible within the app, that isn't supposed to be the way it works.

How do I add cells, but only if certain criteria are met first in other cells?

I have a little problem in working this out, I can't! I can add cells & alike, but more complex working are an unknown to me.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
I've three cells in a row C4 with 5 in, D4 with 3 in & E4 with 1 in. I'd like to add these numbers together into a cell below E6, which is =SUM(C4:E4) which will make 9 in cell E6.
I've also three cells in a row below C4 - E4 which are C5, D5 & E5 which will only ever have ether 0 or 1 inputted into them. All these cells will only ever have data inputted into them from left to right i.e. Column C first, then Column D & lastly Column E.
What I’d like for the cells to do, is only add cells C4 - E4 from left to right, once a cell below (C5 - E5) has had a 1 inputted into it & then continue to add the cells there after normally.
Examples:
Like above if C4 had 5, D4 had 3 & E4 had 1, & the all the cells below (C5 - E5) had 1 in them, then E6 = 9.
Again, if C4 had 5, D4 had 3 & E4 had 1, but C5 had 0, D5 had 1 & E5 had 1, then E6 = 4.
Again if cells C4 - E4 are the same, but C5 had 0, D5 had 1 & E5 had 0, then E6 still = 4.
In the same aspect as above, if C4 - E4 are the same, but C5 had 1, D5 & E5 had 0, then E6 = 9.
If cells C4 - E4 are the same, but C5 - E5 all had 0, then E6 = 0.

Setting a field as Mandatory dynamically based on certain condition

I am working on ADOBE Interactive forms. I am not able to find out, How to set a particular field as a 'Mandatory field' based on some condition. I am using FormCalc as scripting language.
i.e: I have a field "RATING". I want to make the next field "COMMENT" as mandatory when "RATING" is less than 3.

   You need to set the mandatory attribute of the specific field according to your condition. In FormCalc this will be similar to this,

          $.mandatoryMessage = "The corresponding Comment field is mandatory. Please fill"

          $.mandatory = "disabled"

The mandatory property can be set as:
"error" : Makes the field compulsory to be filled before submission
"disabled" : Makes the field optional
"warning" : Gives a warning to the user that the field should be filled, but doesn't cause an error on submission
The property "mandatoryMessage" specifies the message to be displayed to the user when the mandatory field isn't filled before submission.

Rows or columns to be read only

Hi,
I need to set Cells or Rows to Read Only If some attribute doesnt contain any value.
First i have to search for records basd on some condition and display it in the table. And the records will be read only if certain attribute/field of the record is NULL.

Hi Sonika,
for tables the individual cell editors used within the column have properties that can be mapped to the context for things like read only and visibility.
So you can turn the Cell on and off programmatically by changing the context.
Access to column and cell variants is also possible via the so called MODEL on the ALV
component. Check some the of the standard demos beginning SALV* for ALV examples.

UserTask with read only payload

Does anyone know how to make the payload read only and updatable during runtime? Is there a field in the oraBPMTaskMessage that I can set so that it can be read only when I needed to?

I see. The solution you suggested will work if I wanted it to be always readonly. I think we can do that by changing the editable to false in the taskConfigUserSimpleUserActivity_WF_Fields.xml

However, my situation will not work because I need it to dynamically change it to read only on certain conditions.
As a workaround, I am setting the user task flexfield and when the user login to the worklist, the user going to change the value to true or false to determine whether to use the user task payload return from the worklist or just get it from the database instead during retry situation. Then, the read only fields are control by the user in the worklist.

Make detail items in master/detail form read only

I want to make detail items in master/detail form read only for certain conditions (master STATUS = Closed). I see how to do this on the master record items but not on detail items.

You will need to modify the code, but it should help since a master detail is just a standard form with a tabular form attached to it..
