Set date grouping option at run time

Is there a way to change the date field grouping options at runtime?  What I would like to do is have the user select a parameter for monthly or weekly grouping; then set the "The section willl be printed:" area on the date group to either "for each week" or "for each month" based on the value of the parameter.

Try to create two formula in the report like this
@Monthly:
whilereadingrecords;
if {?Parameter}="Monthly" then
{date field}
@Weekly:
whilereadingrecords;
if {?Parameter}="Weekly" then
{date field}
Now remove the existing group GH1 in the report and insert a group on formula @Monthly and select for each month for this group.
Now insert another group GH2 on the formula @Weekly and select for each week for this group in group options.
Now the report works dynamically according to the selected value in the parameter.
Hope this helps!

  • How To... Change the Data Type for a SELECT-OPTIONS at run time.

    Hello,
    I am trying to restrict the values available for entry into a SELECT-OPTIONS at run time depending on user input.
    The logic is as follows. The user has two input fields. A PARAMETER field which has the type RSDIOBJNM and allows them to choose an InfoObject. And the user has a SELECT-OPTIONS field to allow them to select the Characteristic values for that InfoObject.
    I would like the following example to be possible:
    The user enters 0MATERIAL into the PARAMETER. When the user clicks on the SELECT-OPTIONS control code will derive a list of possible options the user can enter in the SELECT-OPTIONS. In this case only values found in the master data or at least no values greater than 18 characters.
    I have looked at the following function module SELECT_OPTIONS_RESTRICT and this do not appear to be helpful as they only restrict on the signs allowed for the values (unless I misunderstand, it is a complex function module!).
    The code I have so far is (thus the user enters a InfoObject into p_char1 and the select options so_char1 should only accept active values of that InfoObject):
    declaration of variables for user interface
      DATA c_char(32) TYPE c.
    declaration of count variable
      DATA i_count TYPE i.
    declaration of user interface
      SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK a1 WITH FRAME TITLE text-001.
        PARAMETERS: p_ipack TYPE RSLOGDPID.
      SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK a1.
      SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK b1 WITH FRAME TITLE text-002.
        PARAMETERS: p_char1 TYPE RSDIOBJNM.
        SELECT-OPTIONS: so_char1  for c_char NO INTERVALS.
        PARAMETERS: p_char2 TYPE RSDIOBJNM.
        SELECT-OPTIONS: so_char2  for c_char NO INTERVALS.
        PARAMETERS: p_char3 TYPE RSDIOBJNM.
        SELECT-OPTIONS: so_char3  for c_char NO INTERVALS.
      SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK b1.
    Is what I am trying to do possible???
    Thanks for any help. Ross.

    You really want to restrict possible values of a select-option based on another field, not change the length of type of the select-option field, right?
    Here is what you do:  Code a custom F4 value help for the select-option at event AT SELECTION-SCREEN ON VALUE REQUEST FOR..  The first thing you do here is read the value of the parameter field (p_ipack in your example).  You can use function module DYNP_VALUES_READ.  Based on this value, you can propose values for the select-option fields.  Note that the use can still enter whatever s(he) wishes in to the select-option field without pressing F4. In this case, you will have to code some input validations taking into account the value in the p_ipack field.

  • Using XML-based object structures to represent data in code/at run-time

    Hello,
    I have quite a "high level" question which has be bothering me for some time, and I haven't found the subject tackled in any books. I believe J2SE/J2EE is not an important divide here.
    Lets say I want to develop a J2SE game application with two programs: a "level designer", and a "level viewer", and I want to store the level files in an XML format.
    My question, and I use this example only to try and illustrate it, is:
    when coding the level designer or viewer, is it reasonable to use an XML-based object hierarchy for representing a level in code/at run-time, i.e. using the standard Java DOM APIs? Or should one (as I would have done before XML came along) develop a set of classes much closer to modelling the real form of a level, and then add a means to convert those objects to/from to XML format?
    This second option of course I would use/would have used if I wasn't thinking about XML, but isn't it sometimes easier to just read in an XML file into a DOM representation and just use the data straight out of that structure, rather than go through the bother of parsing the XML into a set of unrelated objects defined by a different family of classes? What shapes your decision here? And if the second option is best, what is the easiest way of converting to/from the XML?
    Thank you for any advice.
    Greg

    Hi Christian,
    Can I ask: what about if your domain was quite 'close' to an object/DOM representation of XML?
    For instance, what if a game operated by acting out a theatrical script, a spoken conversation, between two characters, perhaps somehow influenced at points by the user, and a particular level was just a different script for the characters.
    One could imagine that the object representation of this would in the end be quite similar to how you'd represent XML, i.e. like a tree of nodes, where each node was a line from the script, and some nodes were a decision point where different nodes could be chosen from.
    Would you still want to avoid using XML-based classes to represent the underlying 'game', or is there a point where you would 'give it' to the similarity and use existing XML structures directly?
    Thank you for any advice

  • Modify chart options at run time?

    Post Author: davestewart
    CA Forum: .NET
    I am trying to create a bar chart that shows a custom grid line, or a reference line across the chart. I can set this manually in chart options using the 'Draw custom line at:' setting in the grids tab of the data axis in chart options. There must be a way to set this programatically at run time as this value will change based on the dataset passed to teh report each time. How could I accomplish this report?
    If there is some other way to show a horizontal reference line on my bar chart, and have it match up with the scaling, that would be fine too. Any method of getting this on there would be great.
    Thanks for any help you may be able to lend!

    Hi ,
    this will work..ut after you enter the p1 , you atleast have to hit enter key to get the value automatically in p2.
    this is because you have to have atleast one screen refresh.
    handle the eventy at selection screen output....
    this is called just before the screen is dispalyed.
    may be something like this.
    p_matnr  material
    p_maktx  description of material
    But the value will not appear as soon as you enter the p1 , you have to..
    1)enter p1
    2)press enter
    3)now p2 will appear automatically since at selection screen output would have processed in between.
    AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT.
      IF NOT p_matnr IS INITIAL.
        SELECT SINGLE
        maktx FROM makt INTO p_maktx WHERE matnr = p_matnr AND spras = 'EN'.
      ENDIF.
    please reward if useful.

  • Setting the webservice url at run time for a execute button in adobe form

    Hi,
    I am using Data connection from the wsdl file to interact with the backend, the button generated from the data connection is of type execute which has the url of the webservice in the object property "Webservice URL" and name of the FM in the interface name. My problem is at present the form is working fine but when the same form transported to QA and PRD them the url of the webservice gets change. hence the same button wont function.
    The solution is either we do the changes manually in all the system or pass the url at run time. Please proide me the solution if there is a way to set this url in the execute button at runtime.
    Thanks in advance.
    Pooja

    Why don't you pass in the URL via an XML input file and bind a hidden text field in your form to that element in your XML? Then use javascript to modify the docReady event of the submit button to something like this:
    var url = textFieldWithURL.rawValue;
    this.event__click.submit.target = url;

  • Exporting DI batch to BAT and set DI parameter/variable at run time

    Hi All,
    We are looking to call DI batch job externally and pass parameter/variable at run time.
    We tried exporting DI batch to a bat file and setting substitution parameters during export.
    In the exported .bat file, it references a .txt file which shows the name of the substitution paramemters but the value of the parameters are encrypted.
    Does anyone know how to pass parameter/variable to a DI batch job at run time externally?
    Thanks,
    Bobby

    I tried out this method and I have some additional issues.
    1. if we use the BOE scheduler the text parameter file is using a specific naming convention that is not clearly documented. it is like : -GV"$VAR=ENCRYPTEDVALUE;"... trying to modify it with a clear value like -GV"$VAR=MYVALUE;" was simply ignored by the scheduler... seems also that BOE did not sent any scheduling request to the DI Job Launcher...
    What is the proper convention please?
    2.Is there a better way to enter this parameter than editing the TXT file. Most of the BOE InfoView users are not allowed to modify or store documents.. This is not very convenient if they cannot enter simply the parameter values in a let say more confortable way...
    Thank you and cheers

    how can i update my table automatically at run time so tat, my table is
    updated whenever a new object is entered into vector..You don't update the Vector directly. You should be creating a method in your TableModel, called "addRow(...)". This method will do two things:
    a) add the Student object to the Vector
    b) invoke the fireTableRowsInserted(..) method of AbstractTableModel. This will cause the table to be repainted.

  • How to change Number of test socket in Model option during run-time

    I wanna be able to change the the number of test sockets(in the Model Options menu) during runtime. I have overriden the Prebatch callback and used my own instead. I have a LabView program in my Prebatch where I would select the test script each time before running the batch. I wann be able to also modify the number of test sockets each time before I run the batch again. I tried setting the "Parameters.ModelData.ModelOptions.NumTestSockets" from the Labview program which is in my Prebatch before running each batch, but get into errors. Please help?

    Hello Kumar,
    The Batch process model shipped with TestStand does not handle this scenario, but you can still do this. Attached is a sequence file that utilizes the Batch Model's ProcessCleanup callback to reset the next execution point. It still uses the method of setting the Parameters.ModelOptions.NumTestSockets variable in the PreBatch callback. The change I added was three steps to a different callback (the ProcessCleanup callback):
    Message Popup - prompts Yes or No to continue testing with a new batch size.
    Statement 1 - based on the response to the message popup (via precondition), resets the Batch Model's next step to be executed and the ContinueTesting flag:
    RunState.Root.RunState.StepGroup = "Setup"
    RunState.Root.RunState.NextStepIndex = 0
    RunState.Root.Locals.ModelData.ContinueTesting = True
    Statement 2 - based on the response to the message popup (via precondition), loops to reset each TestSocket's ContinueTesting flag:
    RunState.Root.Locals.ModelData.TestSockets[RunState.LoopIndex].ContinueTesting = True
    These two statement steps force the next step to be executed in the Batch Process Model to be the first step in the "Setup" step group, and reset all necessary flags for the batch itself and the individual TestSockets. I discovered the flags that had to be reset by trial-and-error (that was the time-consuming part).
    You can run continuous batches of the same size you first chose (for as long as you like), but when stop the batch execution this new message popup will prompt (yes/no) whether you want to continue testing with a new batch size. If no, then processing terminates. If yes, then the next two statement steps are run and execution resumes back at the beginning of the Batch Process Model's Setup step group. This forces the ModelOptions callback to be executed again, so your VI (in my example here it's just a Message Popop) can then set NumTestSockets appropriately.
    Thanks for contacting National Instruments!

  • Crystal ActiveX Runtime Lib: Change text data source path at run time.

    We have some PCs running Crystal Reports 10 and some running CR 9 and 8.5. For each PC, we set up a System DSN ODBC data source (in Control Panel - Administrative Tools) for pulling data from text files to
    generate reports.
    Recently we wrote some routines (see the Visual Basic example at the
    end of this message) to change the path of the data files at runtime.
    According to the Crystal Reports Technical Reference Guide, we may use
    the method LogOnServer() of an Application object or an DatabaseTable
    object. However, we find that this does not work: the PrintOut()
    method only pulls data from the default path as configured for the
    System DSN, not from the path passed as the third parameter of
    LogOnServer(). It does not return any error message.
    We have also tried to use SetTableLocation() method, and it still does
    not work.
    Would any experts examine our code below and advise what we are missing? Thanks.
    For the following VB example, we have:
    System DSN Name: AP_WORKSHEET
    Driver: Microsoft Text Driver
    Database Directory: D:\0ood2 (i.e. the default path)
    Crystal Report Document: D:\3g\run\Vision\apcyto\Reports\crBlockWS.rpt
    (Which specifies that the data source text file name is BlockWS.txt)
    Purpose : We would like to read the data source text file from
    D:\0ood1 instead of the default path.
    Following is the code of the VB macro:
    Sub test()
    Rem In this version of the subroutine, we call
    Rem DatabaseTable.LogOnServer() and "Rem"ed out
    Rem Application.LogOnServer() and SetTableLocation().
    Rem We have un"Rem"ed each of them and "Rem"ed others and try to run.
    Rem In all runs, data are pulled from the default file
    Rem D:\0ood2\BlockWS.txt instead of D:\0ood1\BlockWE.txt.

    Set crxRep = crxapp.OpenReport

    Set crxDB = crxRep.Database
    Set crxTab = crxRep.Database.Tables(1)
    apropConnBufStr = crxTab.ConnectBufferString
    apropSubLoc = crxTab.SubLocation
    crxDB.LogOnServer "p2sodbc.dll", "AP_WORKSHEET", "<CRWDC>DBQ=D:\0ood1",
    Rem crxTab.SetTableLocation "D:\0ood1\BlockWS.txt", apropSubLoc, "DSN="
    Rem Set crxConnPs = crxTab.ConnectionProperties
    Rem Set crxConnP = crxConnPs.Item("DSN")
    Rem crxConnP.Value = "AP_WORKSHEET"
    Rem Set crxConnP = crxConnPs.Item("Database")

    Rem crxTab.Location = "BlockWS.txt"

    crxRep.PrintOut
    End Sub
    For VB macros, the problem exists in all of CR 8.5, 9 and 10. However,
    for another platform we are using, Unify Vision 4GL, it works for CR
    8.5 while not working for CR 9 and 10.

    If you continue to use your machine it will be impossible to recover anything. You might look into data recovery software or take it to data recovery service. Could prove to be very expensive.

  • Data type determined at run time, how to provide the input type in advance

    Hi all,
    Here I have a requirement:
    on my UI, there is an inputfield which receives user's input. But the data type can't be known at design time.
    But I need to bind a context attribute to the inputfield first at design time, which data type should I use( the inputfield can recevie
    data of any type ) ?
    and how to convert the this data type into different data type( can be any type )?

    Hello Aaron,
    There can be a workaround for your requirement.
    you can assign a char data type to that field since Char can accept all characters, numbers, special symbols.
    But, you need to do validations later on the see if it is a number or all alphabets and accordingly you can assign that field to any data type  by doing little bit of manipulations.
    Hope this helps.
