Set metadata field with current user

I would like to have a Response that would set a field with the current logged in user. (This would be triggered by a Subscription)
I am using a Response Action of "Set Asset Metadata".
I have tried entering:
[Name]
[USER_NAME]
[Username]
and so on but the field just puts in the text not the user. Is it not possible to copy from one metadata field to another in a Response Action?

Variable insertions only work for fields that are part of the Asset, Production, or Job that is triggering the Subscription. The only one of those that would reference a user is a Job Subscription. Jobs have a field called \[Owner] that lists the user that caused the job to happen. Of course, this is only viable for actions that cause a job to occur, such as downloads, exports, analysis, archive, or recovery.
Unfortunately, Set Asset MD will not be of any use in a Job Subscription since there is no asset to set metadata upon when you are subscribing to a job. Long story short, you will not be able to do what you are describing automatically.

Mandatory custom metadata field with current system date as default value.

I want to create a custom metadata field of type Date. I want to make it mandatory and want to set its default value as system date.
I have already created field of type Date. What expression I should write to make system date as default value?
Because its a mandatory field, what would happen to existing content. Will there metadata get updated?

Person search to metadata field with search REST API on SP2013 online

I'm developing a sandbox solution to be deloyed on SharePoint 2013 online. This solution contains a web part for a custom functionality. I have a need to make a query against data in user profiles based on two custom metadata properties (mapped to termsets).
Is it possible to create this kind of query by using search REST API (with javascript)? So I need all persons whos metadata field
MyOwnTerms contains specific value(s) passed to search?
I can get all users with /_api/search/query?querytext='*'&sourceid='B09A7990-05EA-4AF9-81EF-EDFAB16C4E31'very (if i set the rowlimit to very high) and the results contains my cystom field
MyOwnTerms but there is too much of results to loop through just for filtering. I cannot reduce rowlimit because I need ALL the persons with certain metadata value in this field. Is there any way to make this work?

I went through the same problem and yes it is possible. In my case, I created a Managed Properties specific to my site column metadata, and assign the value only the label of the column metadata for this managed property. So it returns only the value of
the name and not the metadata ID | Name as the default.
So, just move on selectproperties the name of your managed metadata, so it returns the correct value.

HTTP to ABAP Proxy - Problem with "Current User" parameter

Hi experts,
We have a HTTP to ABAP proxy sceario, where I used an HTTP Destination to connect to the proxy.
We're trying to use the option "Current User" in that destination in order to login to ECC with the same user that in PI adapter plain.
The user exists i both systems, PI and ECC, with the same password.
Checking that parameter we get the following error:

If we put user and password in SM59 (unchecking "Current User") the commuication works without problems.
We don't want to leave a user set there, beacuse we are looking to access to PI with different users and login to ECC with the same user.

Custom metadata field with autonumbering sequence

I have created a custom metadata field and I need it to be able to start a zero and then increase by one with each checkin. There were other qualifications for this particular field as well, which I have managed to do. Currently, the field is V99_99999 where V is a constant, and the 99 immendiately after the V is the current two digit year. all that works great. the issue I am having is with the second half of this. I have it going against the content_id currently, which is at 003856 right now, so when I check in my first content, it will look like V09_003857. what I need it to look like is V09_00001 and then increase by one with each checkin, and then for the really tricky part...when the year changes, on Jan 1, the counter needs to start over at all zeroes again.
I am fairly new to UCM and this seems huge to me. I purchased a book called "The Definitive Guide to Stelelnt Content Server Development" hoping to find the answer, but am still struggling, so I am using another life line and reaching out to you all.

You'll need a component. You already mentioned you had a custom metadata field. You will also need to add a counter to the counters table for your component. During a check in you will need to fetch the next value from the counters table, increment the counter and store the new number back in the table. The year portion of the id is easy, get the current year and grab the last two characters. Then, put this all togther to get the data for your metadata field.
The big question now is where in the check in process will you do all this? You will need something called filters probably. Maybe addFiles, maybe validateStandard, there are several that this could work with.

we are switching to another mam but we still need fcsvr for some time.
So do you guys know if there is a terminal command for the following requirements!?
(1)
export an xml file for every asset with every mdValue fieldname like
location, file name, creation date, our custom fields aso. (this will be imported to the new mam)
(2)
setting a metadata field of an specific asset in fcsvr
for example:

A better way to initialize imported taskflows and BCs with current user

Hello.
I'm currently developing a composite application containing one main application and a number of subapplications (modules) packed in adflibs.
Main application has a side menu and a dynamic region, showing taskflows (on fragments) from adflibs.
Main application is configured with adf security and it has current login and queries his ID. I would like main application to tell modules current user ID rather than each module to find out current user on their own.
So there is currentUserID input parameter required in each imported taskflow. And my question is what is a better way to process this ID in the modules?
What I have previously done is:
I've created a custom BC classes layer, VOImpl and VORowImpl have getIdUser() method. This method reads currentUserID parameter from pageFlowScope where the taskflow is storing the parameter.
Top-level View Objects have :IdUser query parameter and corresponding bind variable. This bind variable has value="source.getIdUser()", calling the method from custom VO class.
This way works fine but here and there I read that it is a bad practice to access pageFlowScope from BCs.
I could agree with this in case someone could share a better way.
So what is a good practice?

Custom metadata field with date filtering like built-in Date field

I've added a custom metadata field OK and now want to add an additional custom metadata field that contains the date the photos were exported by my plugin. The types of metadata values don't include a date field.
I've tried using a string with the value returned by os.date() and that does indeed add the date and time but what I'm really looking for is a way to add a date field so it will have the same behaviour that the built-in Date field does.
When I use Library Filter: Metadata, the Date column shows the date with a series of disclosure buttons in a hierarchy, e.g.,
Date
All (1 Date)
V 2009
V November
V 27-Friday
Is this some magic for the built-in field or is there some way of formatting the date so Lightroom knows it's a date and can treat it the same way as the built-in date?

We need to pass R/3 userID that we store in property department of portal user profile. Thus, we need to pass dinamically a value as part of name/value pair in application parameter.
How can do achive that?

How to set Changed_by field with User ID not by Workflow ID, when Status Update from Workflow

Hi Imran
With the very few details available on your process, the workflow design and the "Order", all I can suggest is that:
1) In your workflow definition, go to the step which sends the user decision, in the binding FROM the TASK TO the Workflow, set _ACTUAL_AGENT to a workflow container element , say DECISION_AGENT (of type SWHACTOR)
2) Assuming that the next step in APPROVAL branch is setting of the status, go the task ID of that Step -> make it a dialog step (remove the Background Processing check) -> set it's agent assignment to general task
3) Back in the workflow, set that STATUS SETTING step to Advance With Dialog under the details tab
4) In the control tab of the same step, in the agents section, set agent as EXPRESSION and the value as &DECISION_AGENT&
When a user approves the decision item, his ID will be stored in DECISION_AGENT
The status set will execute immediately (because of "Advance with Dialog") in the same session of approving as the user who approved is the same running this step now
The status will be set by the ID of the Approver
The above is hypothetical considering
1) You do not have dynamic parallel processing
2) Status setting happens immediately after the approval; as a first step in the approval branch
3) The Decision Task does not has "Confirm End of Processing" checked.

Automatically populate metadata field with file name?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is possible...
I'm working with many large batches of .jpg files, and am running them through Bridge in order to add metadata according to my client's guidelines.
For every single file, my client requires that the "Description" field in the IPTC Core section of the metadata is filled with the full filename, as it would appear in the Finder, including the .jpg extension.
Currently I'm copying every file's name and pasting it into the Description field. Does anyone know of a good way to automate this task? Since each file name is different, a standard metadata template isn't meeting my needs.
If anyone knows of a good way, I'd be very glad to know! Thank you.

Populating multiple image fields with single user-defined image

Hello,
I am fairly new to LiveCycle and am looking to include a user-specified image in the header of each page of my dynamic form.
I've succeeded in including the image form at the head of each page using a master page, but each image form only affects the page it is on. Ideally, I would like to have the user be able to select the image on one page, and have all of the image fields populate.
Is there any way to use a script to populate the other images when the first image is selected by the user? I tried setting the rawValue of one image to that of another once the other is chosen, but had no success.

Thank you for the responses. I have already updated awhile ago, so I am wondering what happened. Not sure if during the server update, some files were replaced (unless I totally forgot to update to 1.0.1 on this site). So I reinstalled 1.0.1, deleted the includes folder from the server and uploaded my includes folder and it now works again.

Trouble Opening Up Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 with current user permission

Hi, I recently purchased LR3 and downloaded it on my Mac, long story short, I have had issues and I called Adobe and they had to create a test/new user and it was able to open up through that user, but not my original user id. They told me that I would need to contact Apple and tell them that I have issues on previous account and that my preferences are not being created. HELP!! I called Apple and my online support has expired!! LR3 will open on the new user account but not on my original one....the one with ALL of my work.

I don't really see how AppleScript can help here. Try the general user forum where you might have more luck.
