Set Profile Pictures

We are currently setting up a Sharepoint 2013 environment within our company. We also want our users to benefit from the MySites. In order to keep the stress on the server on launch day at a minimum and to make it easier for the users, we would like to set
a profile picture of each user on their MySite.
Since we have 2000+ users doing this manually isn't really an option. We've been looking for a script that lets us set a picture for each user but haven't been really successful.
In the ideal setting is that we would have a list of all users (CSV file?) and a picture of each user in a folder on one of our Sharepoint servers so they could be imported. Importing pictures from AD for us isn't an option since we don't store pictures
there.
Is there any script or CMDlet that lets us achieve this goal? The closest we have come is displaying a list of users that have (or don't have) a picture associated with them:
# Dynamic Settings
$mySiteUrl = "https://mysite.domain.com"
$findProperty = "PictureUrl"
# Obtain Context based on site
$mySiteHostSite = Get-SPSite $mySiteUrl
$mySiteHostWeb = $mySiteHostSite.OpenWeb()
$context = Get-SPServiceContext $mySiteHostSite
# Obtain Profiles from the Profile Manager
$profileManager = New-Object Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileManager($context)
$AllProfiles = $profileManager.GetEnumerator()
$outputCollection = @()
# Loop through profiles and retrieve the desired property
foreach ($profile in $AllProfiles)
$output = New-Object System.Object
$output | Add-Member -type NoteProperty -Name AccountName -Value $profile["AccountName"].ToString()
$output | Add-Member -type NoteProperty -Name $findProperty -Value $profile[$findProperty]
$outputCollection += $output
# List all Accounts that do not contain the property
$outputCollection | Where-Object {[bool]$_.($findProperty) -ne $false}
(credits for the script go to to

Thanks in advance ... and if anything is unclear (english isn't my first language) just ask :-)

There's loads of scripts around that try to do that. This one is my favourite.

  • Set User Profile Picture with CMD

Can we set the an user profile picture from a shared folder (\\SERVER\UserPictures\%USERNAME%.jpg) via CMD? How to do that?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I have been struggling with the same problem for a couple of days now. I thought I had it figured out by creating an "accountpicture-ms" file on my own computer and coping it to
%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\AccountPictures and set the value of the file in: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AccountPicture\SourceId" but as it is already stated above that does not do it.
After doing some registry monitoring when clicking on the "accountpicture-ms" file, that does set the profile picture correct, I noticed some activity in a hidden folder named:
    C:\Users\Public\AccountPictures\S-1-5-21-933334596-4129812972-2891473731-1001
(The last part of this dir should be changed with the unique GUID you got for your user)
In that folder I found 5 versions of my profile pictures in jpg format, that is created when setting the profile pictures.
The Operation does also set 5 Registry Keys here:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AccountPicture\Users\5-21-933334596-4129812972-2891473731-1001\
    The keys are:
    Image40
    Image96
    Image200
    Image240
    Image448
The keys are pointing to the 5 jpg files mentioned above. I have not yet tested if this does the trick, but I will post my script here, if I get it to work..!

  • How to set a Student Profile Picture in Student File (PIQST10)

    Hi Experts,
I want to ask your help to know if there's a standard functionality for showing a student profile picture in the main screen of the student file (piqst10).
Thanks so much for your suggestions in advance.
    Best regards,
    Johann Daniels

    Hi Johann,
Currently in the standard it is only visible in the PIQSTM transaction. The Generic object services* provide you a framework to upload and relate documents to an object (in this example the ST object).
I do not know which system/version/etc you are using but you can check the following if it already is configured out of the standard:
    1. piqst00
    2. click on the little black arrow-button next to the titel of transaction 'student file'
    3. click on 'create'
    4. click on 'store business document'
    5. doubleclick on document type 'student photo'
    6. upload your photo from your local pc
    7. click on the green flag.
    8. It should be there on the right of the header ata once you open piqstm/d (if you double-click the photo a pop-up will open with the photo).
Please drop me an e-mail so that I can share a document with you that describes the steps to take to prepare your system.

  • Music App - Artist Profile Picture(s)?

G'day all. I have a question i've longed wondered of since IOS 7 came out.
    Since the IOS 7 update, iTunes have set Artist 'Profile' pictures, meaning for each Artist, there is a goup photo showing who is in the band, e.g;
Pink Floyd has David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Richard Wright in a group photo.
Linkin Park has Chester Bennington, Brad Delson, Mike Shinida, Rob Bourden, Pheonix and Joe Hahn.
But there's other bands who don't have photos? Such as Aerosmith, Faith No More, Guns N' Roses, Icehouse and Johnny Cash (i have many more but yeah)
Can someone explain why bands don't have a photo? Is it they weren't a noticeable enough band to have a photo? (not that GNR and all that aren't big :|)
    Cheers :)

The bands you listed do have a picture in the iTunes Store. For some reason the Music app doesn't show those images. Usually when I open iTunes on my iPhone, the right artist images are shown, however not always.

  • Artist profile picture gone in music app, how to get it back?

    Hi Guys,
I got an Iphone 5s 16gb space grey recently and i restored from backup after updating it from 7.1 to 7.1.2.
I noticed that from my backup before and my old phone before my 5s (4s) that in the artists view in the Music app, there were artists profile picture which im presuming are their pictures from itunes. So that's what's showing on the artists view instead of the usual album covers from the artists music. If apple didnt have a "profile picture" for a certain artist then they would just show normal album covers from that artists which is also fine.
However, after I updated and set up as new iphone (then restore from backup), the "profile pictures' from Apple are gone and the artist views are just showing album covers from the different albums that the artist have. Does that make sense? I actually quite like the Apple artist profile picture and would like for them to show up again, instead of the normal album covers. Hopefully that makes sense and any help or advice will be appreciated.
    Regards

For some reason only two or three of my contacts show their facebook profile pictures, even though probably 75% of my contacts have facebook photos... why would the pics only show for a few contacts?  And how do I fix it?  I've checked FB settings and phone settings, but I must be missing something!

  • Profile picture

I wonder if someone could please help me - it's urgent! My husband was logged into his shared business account & walked off, leaving skype open at the mercy of my clever 3yr old son. I thought my boy was on my personal account & we began taking new profile pictures. By the time I noticed, our mummy&child picture was the corporate photo of my husband's boss's account. My husband has been asked to remove the photos, but I can't find anyway to do so or to replace it with telephone icons used in skype. This is very embarassing for me & my husband, any advice, please? If we can't remove the pictures, can we re-set the account? Please, I absolutely must sort this out - many thanks.

Here's a new Skype avatar for you to use. Simply right-click on the picture and select "Save picture" an save it locally on your computer.
Within Skype open from the menu "Skype -> Profile -> Change Your Picture".
Then select "Browse..." and choose the picture you just saved.

  • Profile picture in messages

Don't know if anyone has knowledge about this:
When receiving e-mails from some of my contacts, a photo of the sender appears in the top-right corner of the message
When I send e-mails, I see that these also contain a photo, but not of me, but rather the earth seen from space
I have tried changing my profile picture in the user account in Mavericks, the Exchange server, etc., but with no changes in the earth photo.
Having looked a bit more closely into this, it seems the picture that does appear from other senders is their LinkedIn profile picture. This is not consistent, though, not all my LinkedIn Contacts display their photo.
    Any ideas?

I finally figured it out! The picture was set at icloud.com when I initially set up my iCloud account.

  • Profile picture automatically reverting back

Did anyone notice that or is it something that has to be set up separetely? If profile picture for the contact is updated using social app after an hour or so it automatically reverts back to the old one.
Spent good half an hour yesterday to updated all of my contacts just to find out they all are back to the previous low resolution images that used to be applied in the old version of the social app.
on the good side, social app now applies high res images making it look so much better. If only it would stay there....

    1. If you log in automatically, a bug in some versions of OS X will cause the desktop picture to revert to the default image at every startup. The only known workaround is to disable automatic login in the Users & Groups preference pane.
    2. If the selected Desktop picture is stored in an iPhoto library on an external drive, export it from iPhoto and move it to a folder on the startup volume. (Credit for this solution to ASC member janay.)
    3. If the desktop picture always reverts to a plain blue background, one of your login items may be causing the problem. The "TeamViewer" application can have this effect; see this thread. If it's not that in your case, rule out all other third-party login items as possible causes.
    4. If you have a MacBook Pro with automatic graphics switching, disable it temporarily in the Energy Saver preference pane, set the Desktop picture, then restart the computer and re-enable graphics switching.
    5. If none of the above applies to you, proceed as follows.
    Back up all data.
In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
              Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
and move the following items to the Desktop, if they exist:
              Application Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db
              Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the items you moved to the Desktop back where they came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the items.

  • Profile picture changing

In address book, if i put a new profile picture for a contact, it works. But then after a few days it changes back to the pic that the contact has on their computer. In this case, it's my brother. He has a mac too. so i think that mail is recognizing his profile pic and then making it mine. can't mine override anyone else's? it's really weird. and then it syncs to my iphone and it's his pic again and not mine. this process repeats...

    Hi,
    Which Profile ?
Messages by default pulls your Pic from the My Card in the Contacts app (Contacts App > Card Menu > Show My Card)
However in the Bonjour Account in the Buddy pic spot you can change it.
If you change it them iMessages will use it.
If you have AIM, Jabber or Yahoo Accounts you can change the pics there although in Messages only one will be used (In iChat you could set them all differently).

  • Where does system preferences store old profile pictures?

I can still set it as my profile pictures, but i deleted it in the photobooth folder. its still got to be on there somewhere. Where is it?

for some reason it's in homedirectory/library/images/ichat recent pictures.

  • Can't set profile photo

So I recently got a new skype account after losing my old login details. I decided to upload a pic of myself, and I discovered that this is impossible for some reason. I browse for the pic and click on it, and it just returns me to the screen with the options of "Browse" and "Take a picture." So what do I have to do to upload a pic?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The steps you should follow in order to upload the images:
    1.) Open Paint
    2.) Click File > Open
3.) Find the image you want to use > Click open
4.) Click File > Save As
5.) Press the drop down box "Save as Type"
    6.) Select PNG (*.png)
I've uploaded the picture here for your convience, but for next time you'll know how to do it! This is hopefully just a glitch on Skype, and they'll allow JPG! Just download my attachment to your desktop, and set it as your profile picture like you normally would! Have a great day

  • Now my profile pictures are gone... why would that be?

Friends, Romans, and fellow ASC volunteers, we have another "glitch du jour" - props to ASC volunteer/member extraordinaire bobsufert for coinage of that iconic phrase.
The following information is concerning my ASC volunteer/member profile which contained three pictures; now it renders one picture. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
It's not like my profile pictures were... rubber-ducky takes a bubble bath. Or rubber-ducky accidently-on-purpose pulls a publicity stunt and gets "outraged" which provides rubber ducky even more press. I do NOT have an iCloud account proper with storage capacity.
Finally, I have no association with Jerry Jones & the Dallas Jive (pre-season football team) - as ASC volunteer/member extraordinaire ChitlinsCC will understand.
    Thanks in advance,
    mm

I'd rather you be the lead sled dog in the quest for a custom avatar.
I can barely keep my Jive profile operational - nevermind trying to help solve a problem before an elite squad member jumps in & solves the problem before I can finish typing another post destined for the trash. What do they put in the WC anyway?
Remember the Stooges episode when Curley went to deliver a large block of ice to a mansion using an ice truck & large ice tongs? By the time he hustled up one set of stairs after another, he got up to the door & rang the bell.
When the customer opened the door, Curley held up the tongs with a tiny ice cube for delivery.
    Peace
