Set rules for Mail !

I created a rule for all my incoming mail that filters all mail coming from any of my accounts (i.e. [email protected] or [email protected]) and it saves them into a folder called "me" . sometimes I send emails to my self for whatever reason and I want to keep those separate.
this rule works fine when I send my self an email, but when I reply to an email and copy my self on it it doesnt work.I get the email in the inbox folder.
any ideas?

I do not have any other rules setup and I made sure the rule does include the email addresses I want to filter.
the reason for sending all emails to myself is just because I dont trust the "sent email" folder 100%. I feel like having a backup is not a bad idea. I send emails to my self to a different address than what I send emails from.

Based on your answer, and the answer to another question (which I didn't see before I asked mine, even tho I searched), I get the impression that iPad Mail is just a different face on web mail, that the messages are only stored on the server, not downloaded and stored on the iPad 2. Is that correct?

  • Creating rules for Mail - yet visible on iPhone

I fully understand how to create rules for email so that when receiving them, they automatically go into folders.  The problem is, if I receive an email that automatically gets sorted into a folder, I can not tell on my iPhone I have actually received a new email.
However, I need to know how to have rules to automatically sort/file emails into a folder, but still know I have received a new email on my iPhone mail.
    Anyone got ideas?
    Thanks

I can understand not wanting to put out money to gain a feature that you think should be standard.
Here is a link to some Applescripts that I had downloaded in the past. I actually forgot about these. There is a script which will allow you to apply some rules to outgoing messages, but the author of the scripts notes that it is not a perfect solution. Maybe it can help.
If all else fails, maybe you can use smart folders as a sort of go between. Instead of scanning through the sent mail folder and hand picking individual messages to drag to folders, why not set up a smart folder to aggregate all like mail. Then you could just drag the messages from a smart folder to a regular one. It might help speed things up.
I am just about out of ideas. I hope you can come up with a good solution.

  • TS3276 Setting Rules in Mail, and misunderstanding the terms.

Just tried, for the first time, setting a Rule in mail to deal with holiday messages. Thought sending it to 'Every message' would be appropriate, as couldn't make sense of any other options. Now EVERYONE, who ever sent me a message has received the absence message, some people hugely multiple times. They would be correct to be very irritated.
    Anyone else every done this?

    Hi Redkite7,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The following article will provide some information about sending automatic replies.
Mail (Mountain Lion): Send automatic replies
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11760
I gathered this information from the Help menu in the Mail application for you:
    Send automatic replies
You can create a rule to have Mail automatically reply to incoming messages.
Choose Mail > Preferences, and then click Rules.
Click Add Rule and type a descriptive name for the rule.
Set the conditions necessary for the rule to apply to a message.
From the “Perform the following actions” pop-up menu, choose “Reply to Message.”
Click “Reply message text” and enter the text for your reply message.Mail will include the text you enter, along with the full text of the original message, in the reply that it sends.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • Need help with Rules for mail accounts

Today I deleted a rule for a mail account and now I cant receive mail in 4 of 8 accounts. I'm not experienced with Mac's Mail program. Id there something you have to do for multiple accounts to recieve all mail? I can send but not receive.
    Help!
    ~ Tammy

It's hard to believe that deleting a rule could have a bearing on the ability to receive messages from any account... unless that rule did something that prevented subsequent rules to process the messages that you apparently can't receive now.
That is, either having deleted the rule has absolutely no bearing on your problem, or the problem is that those messages are now being processed in an unexpected way by some of your other rules.
What type of accounts are these (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? What does "I cant receive mail in 4 of 8 accounts" mean?

  • How to set proxy for mail with Gmail account

Hi, I'm using mail and set up a Gmail pop account. My mac is behind a proxy, say 192.168.0.1:808. I set the system http and https with the above address and can browse the internet with safari. But the mail app cannot receive or send any mails from the google pop/smtp server. Do you know how I can set the proxy for mail so that it can send and receive mail? Thank you very much!

I solved this problem myself by using an app called proxifier. It's a tunneling tool I guess.

  • Problems with initial set up for mail and other things

I am having issues with mail set up and getting printers and other things work with Mac Pro Book, since i am new convert i am feeling really frustrated with these things, anyone out there has experince in mac mail set ups and other instatlations like msn messanger etc.

Sorry you are having problems but you need to provide more detailed information about the problems such as what type of email account are you trying to set up in Mail - .Mac, IMAP or POP and is this account provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet or by an email account provider?
What happens including error messages provided when trying to create the email account in Mail?
Regarding a printer problem, this is the Mail & Address Book forum. You should post a question about printer issues with detailed information such as the make and model of your printer and what you have tried to this point at the Printer & Faxing forum here.

Installing MSN Messenger should be easy. I believe Messenger does not include an installer and is provided as package via a disk image that only requires dragging the application from the mounted disk image to your Applications folder which copies the application package from the mounted disk image to your hard drive.
What problems are you having with installing Messenger?

  • Transferring set-up for Mail from iMac to iBook

I just switched from AOL to Mail on my iMac and would like to have the same setup on my iBook. How can I do this without building everything from scratch a second time? I'm not sure where to look for the preferences or whatever that is saved for my Mail configuration. Any help?
    Thanks,
    Joanne

    Joanne,
One easy way to make the transfer, unless the Mail folder is of extreme size, is to Network the iBook with the iMac. More on this in a moment.
What you want to do, by network, target disk, or burned media, is REPLACE the com.apple.mail.plist file (Home/Library/Preferences), and the Mail folder (Home/Library/Mail ) on the iBook with a copy of the same files from the iMac. Once you have done this, launch Mail on the iBook, and you will be set. The same can be done with the Address Book (Home/Library/Application Support/Address Book.
To do this while in direct network link do the following:
On the iMac, click on System Preference icon in the Dock, and choose Sharing. Next place a check mark in box beside Personal File Sharing.
Now, on the iBook, open a Finder window, and click on the Network globe in the Sidebar, and you will see your iMac listed. Double click on the iMac icon, and when prompted enter the administrator password for the iMac. At that point choose to connect to your Home folder on the iMac, and then an Icon for that home folder will mount on the iBook. Open it the same as you would open the HD, and then open the HD on the iBook, and locate the files you wish to replace with copies of those on the iMac.
    Hope this helps.

  • Setting Margins for Mailing Labels in Reports 6i

I would like to know how to configure the margins (vertical/horizontal properties) for different mailing label formats. I am unable to correctly set them to use for Avery labels. MS Access has a great label wizard that brings up a variety of mailing label formats and allows you to choose from the list. I have found nothing similar in Oracle Reports. Have been a DBA/developer of Oracle Applications for 20+ years. Help!

Where you set the measurement ?
    Did you follow this ?
    @ Report Object Navigator
    1. Select Layout Model >> Main Section then properties
set Width, Height and Orientation under Section
    Adjust your layout and
    Try...
    Hope this works..

  • TS3899 I use outlook for my email on my home computer.  I bought an iphone 5 and is set up for mail, I am receiving e-mails but they are not sending.

I use outlook for my e-mail on my home computer.  I bought an iphone5 and set up mail I am receiving e-mails but cannot send.  Not sure what my outgoing mail setting should look like on my phone.

When you set up the email account on your iPhone you probably did not set up the outgoing mail server correctly. Incoming and outgoing are two separate sets of settings. You need to set up both, and also enter your username and password for both.

  • Dns setting require for mail server 2013

    Hello Support,
I have install exchange server 2013 and working fine but right now i have some change in DNS server record and my mail services stop. what record add to start my mail services ( sent and received). till now exchange server mail box give the error mail not
connected with server. Please revered ASAP.

couple of things to notice. if you saying your exchange services stopped... this wont happen because of DNS or are you saying you exchange is not working/mail flow.
now i would suggest to quickly check the mail services. run a test for inbound and outbound at exrca.com there you will have the proper answer that what you have missed.
and at last.. for DNS.. you need MX and A record for your email server for basic functioning .. and for autodiscover couple of more. lets verify the MX and A record first and then verify the send and receive connector. to verify MX do a Nslookup as below
    >cmd
    >nsloookup   {This should resolve to your local DNS if you running this from exchange server, which is recommended and should not time out}
    >set type=mx
    > your-domain.com {This should result "A" record / FQDN of your mail server}
    > set type=A {To verify the above FQDN should point to right IP}
    > mail.your-domain.com [assuming that in MX output you got mail-your-domain.com]
    > 1.1.1.1  [IP of your email server]
if you are able to verify above then your chances are you dont have issue with DNS.
Make sure from oursite you are able to telnet t tour exchange server on port 25 and from inside you are able to resolve names from your exchange server and also have internet access.if you able to verify till this point then its the turn now to verify send
and receive connector. one easy way is exrca.com and then share the results.
to verify if your exchange is configured properly please follow this link.

  • Setting font for mail preferences

anybody have this problem?? when i set lucida sans italic as my email font preference it won't italicize it. it will italicize in all areas of preference except when it comes to using it as a default font. i called support and they were stumped and suggested that i post here. help!!! :-):-)

yes, i want to see the message in that font and have the person on the other end view in that font also. you can change the message font in mail preferences. you select the font under message font and it will create all new mail messages in that font. what i find is that any font that will italicize won't do so when you create a new message. i have it set for comic sans right now and that works fine. go into mail preferences, choose message font, select lucida sans from the font list, then on the right select italics and then close and create a new message. the new message should have lucida sans italics as the message font. mine won't do that. you can select other fonts and it will work, but the italics part doesn't take........

  • Rules for Mail Accounts

Can different accounts in mail.app have rules that are specific to that account? It seems that when I create a rule it applies globally to all accounts.

One of the options in the "If" portion of the rules is Account, so yes, you can limit a rule a specific account.
