Set sub report Logon Info without prompting

I have a crystal report that i am displaying using a ReportSource from crystal enterprise server 10.
This report has On Demand Sub Reports in it. When a user clicks on the web viewer to view that sub report it prompts for Database logon information. How do i set this information server side so the user is not prompted?

I wanted to follow up on this question, since it was not properly answered. If you are using the enterprise SDK, and veing a report Stored on the server you must change the properties of the report on the server itself for what I needed to work.
Once the report is saved to crystal enterpise go into the report's properties.
go to Process->Database and set the following setting:
In Crystal 10 - Make sure 'Prompt the user for database logon when viewing' is
NOT checked.
In Crystal XI - under 'When viewing report:' make sure the radio button for
'Use same database logon as when report is run' is checked.
Also, the SDK has a 'Prompt on refresh' optoin when scheduling the report programmatically that you can set to false to make this work without having to change the base report in the crystal enterprise server. (This goes for Crysal XI and Crystal 10)

  • Crystal Report Viewer 11.5 Java SDK - How to set sub report parameter value

    Good day!
    I have a report with 3 sub-reports in the detail section. Main report has two parameters and each sub-report has one parameter in turn. We have our own JSP to receive parameter values from the user. I am using the following code to do the parameter value setting later into the report. Parameter value setting works for main report, but not for the sub-report.
    I get an Error, for the first sub-report, from the viewer saying:
    The parameter 'parametername' does not allow null values
    On this article: [article link|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap%28bd1lbizjptawmq==%29/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333233313337333233323331%7D.do]
    It says to set the report name of the parameter field to the name of the sub report. On this aspect, assuming this tip/solution works, I would like to read the names of the sub-reports and their parameter names. I do not want to hard-code them into our application.
    Here is my current code:
    sdk.occa.report.data.Fields parameterFields = new Fields();
    I have a HashMap of <parameterName, parameterValue>
    Iterate through the map
    report.data.ParameterField aParameterField = new ParameterField();
    aParameterField.setReportName(""); //main report
    report.data.Values theValues = new Values();
    ParameterFieldDiscreteValue aParameterFieldDiscreteValue = new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();
    aParameterFieldDiscreteValue.setValue (aValue);
    theValues.add(aParameterFieldDiscreteValue);
    aParameterField.setName(parameterName)
    aParameterField.setCurrentValues(theValues);
    parameterFields.add(aParameterField);
    viewer.setParameterFields(parameterFields);
    Please look at the line:
    aParameterField.setReportName(""); //main report
    Here's where I would like to say
    if (parameter is subreport's parameter) then setReportName(subreport name);
    Thx

    It was little difficult to navigate down the objects to find the sub reports and their parameters. I am attaching the code:

  • How to set Database Logon Info, if allowDatabaseLogonPrompting="false"

    Hey,
    Here is the Version Details -
    Crystal report X1 R1
    Sql Server 2005
    Tomcat 5.5.27
    Question -
    I am using jsf viewer to dispaly report in my web project. We don't want to prompt for database logon information before showing the report to teh front user. I have seen few sample jsp code which creates the crystalreportviewer object and set the connectioninfo details and calls the processhttprequest method to render the report. I have tried the same approach and it works for us.
    But our requirement is to just use the jsf tags. Is there a way to pass the database credentials to the jsp without prompting for Logon Information or using the java code to populate the connectioninfo in crystalreportviewer instance.
    Here is the jsp file -
    <%@ taglib uri="/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld" prefix="crviewer" %>
    <crviewer:viewer displayGroupTree="false" viewerName="CrystalViewer"
    reportSourceType="reportingComponent"
    displayGroupTree="false"
            displayToolbarExportButton="true"
            displayToolbarPrintButton="true"
            displayToolbarRefreshButton="true"
            displayToolbarToggleTreeButton="false"
            displayToolbarCrystalLogo="true"
    top="100"
    left="200"
    reportSourceVar="#{Report.reportSource}"
    isOwnPage="true"
    displayGroupTree="false"
    allowDatabaseLogonPrompting="false">
    <crviewer:report reportName="Report.rpt">
         <crviewer:partsViewer viewerName="CrystalViewer"
              reportSourceType="reportingComponent"
              title="Fill to Fill Report"
              numberOfRecords="10"
              showHeadings="true"
              showPageNavigationLinks="true"
              allowParameterPrompting="false"
              reportSourceVar="#{Report.reportSource}"/>
    </crviewer:report>
    </crviewer:viewer>
    I am trying to run this and it shows an error page with information Database Login Error.
    I have created the report using JDBC/JNDI database connection with trusted authentication = false.
    The Sql Server 2005 error log shows -
    Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 5.
    Logon       Login failed for user ''. [CLIENT: <named pipe>]
    Any help will really be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Yes within the report designer i am able to refresh the report and open and close the report without getting prompted. I am not changing any database properties at runtime and using the jar files which come with CR Release 2.
    All i am doing is to export the report in pdf format. Here is the code :
    ReportExportControl exportControl = new ReportExportControl();
    ExportOptions exportOptions = new ExportOptions();
    PDFExportFormatOptions  pdfOptions = new PDFExportFormatOptions();
    exportOptions.setExportFormatType(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
    exportOptions.setFormatOptions(pdfOptions);
    exportControl.setExportOptions(exportOptions);
    exportControl.setExportAsAttachment(false);
    exportControl.setReportSource(this.wrapper.getReportSource());
    exportControl.setName(this.wrapper.getReportName());
    exportControl.setEnableLogonPrompt(false);
    //Pass Fields object to ReportExportControl
    exportControl.setParameterFields(this.wrapper.getFields());
    //Export only works if i pass the connections object with connectioninfo object populated with username and password.
    //We want to run the report using trusted authentication i.e. we don't want to pass username and password.
    exportControl.setDatabaseLogonInfos(connections);
    if(to_refresh)
      exportControl.refresh();
    If i don't provide the connectioninfo object with proper username and password to run the report inside the java class, it try's to logon to database using username = 'userid'. I think it picks it from the JDBC Connection String created while creating database connection for the report in the designer.
    Here is the jdbc connection string for the JDBC/JNDI connection created inside the report designer:
    !net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver!jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://localhost:1433/customer;namedPipe=true!user=!password=.
    Is there a way to get pass this problem??? Is there a way to force the connection from the java class to use trusted authetication??? Can we change the connection string to replace the userid with empty string to force trusted authetication???
    Any help will be really appreciated.

  • Object Reference not set to instance of Object when sub-report on new page

    I have a problem when my sub-report goes onto the second page of the report, with an error message.
    My VB.NET displays a report and sub-report (in the footer) in a CrystalReportViewer:
    - When both are on the first page, both display fine
    - When the sub-report (or at least part) goes to the second page, the report displays OK, but without the subreport. When I go to page 2 of the report - hoping to see the sub-report - an error message is displayed, with title "Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer" and text "Object Reference not set to an instance of an object".
    This problem occurs both on my development machine in VS and at a user site.
    Am desperate for some ideas please! I have VB.NET in Visual Studio 2010, and SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio 2010. The program is targeted for .NET Framework 3.5.
    I looked for the HandleException event on my Windows Forms Viewer, as suggested by SAP and Microsoft, but cannot find this. See for [example|http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/businessobjectsxi/en/en/crystalreports_dotnet_sdk/crystalreports_net_doc/doc/crsdk_net_doc/html/crlrfwindowsformscrystalreportviewerclasshandleexceptioneventtopic.htm]

    Usually, the error is due to the object going out of scope. Placing the object in a session may help. Moving the CR code to page init or page load may help. Looking at samples may help:

  • Report execution without prompting user id

    Hi,
    Is it possible to execute the report using Query designer/Web Application designer without prompting for User Id and password for selected queries?
    If possible, please let us know.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    This is possible with workbook and by creating a macro which has the auto logon code. Create a workbook on the query and you need to create a macro and call the function 'sapBEXgetConnection'.
    With this you can specify the user id and password to workbook and when ever workbook is refreshed the logon will be done automatically for specified user id and password and data will be retrieved.
    Hope this gives you an idea.

  • Sub-reports displaying parameter prompt

    I have a CR XI r2  application using the JRC that displays a list of reports and allows a user to select the desired report. I then programatically determine the paramaters needed and set the values required. This works fine except when I use a report containing a sub-report. Although I loop thru the report heirarchy including the sub report and set all the parameters it still prompts for the sub-report parameter in the viewer before displaying the report. I tried setting the enable prompting to false but that didn't help.

    Hi,
    It may help you.
    Try to link the subreports with the main report Using Change Subreport Link.
    And map the parameters to the main Report.

  • Sub report parameter prompt appears when running Visual Studio 2008 with Crystal Reports 2008

    Post Author: relliott
    CA Forum: .NET
    If I build a simple Crystal Report that contains another simple Crystal Sub Report, the report will print preview fine in Crystal 2008.  The problem happens when add this report to a Visual Studio 2008 Web Application Project and I build and debug the application, the Crystal Viewer is prompting the user for the parameter used to link the sub report to the main report.  This should never happen as the user is not supposed to see this parameter.  If I type in some value for this sub-report parameter prompt, the Crystal Report Viewer gives an error message about not finding the field.
    I was having the same problem in Vs2005 with Crystal 10 which is why I upgraded.  Business Object's official fix for this problem was published under their KB article number c2018840 and c2019047.  These hot fixes ended up causing general exception errors in Visual Studio so I scrapped these solutions.
    Support had me install SP0 for Crystal 2008 (which did not fix it).
    Any ideas?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Bontrager,
    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
    According to your description, I agree with pvdg42's suggestion, so I suggest you can try pvdg42's suggestion to install the version of
    Crystal Reports 10.5 to check this issue again.
    Reference:
    http://forums.asp.net/t/1236730.aspx?Which+CR+version+is+in+Visual+Studio+2008+
    In addition, since this forum is

  • Crystal report input prompt..for sub report

    Hi All,
    I developed crystal report and retreived the fields from the exsiting Query.Now for  enhancing the report i must creat a sub report for th eexisting one.In this case iam getting 2 input prompts one for the old report and the other one is for the enhanced sub report .But the requirement is tha t, the report must get only one input prompt for both the reports. Is this can be possible from the Query end or the crystal report end?
    YVL

    Hi Vijayalakshmi
    You can apply just one input parameter for the main report and then link your subreport with this parameter.
    Once you link the subreport, you would get only one prompt for inputting parameter values.
    This way you can optimize the performance of the report as well.
    For more information about linking subreports you can refer to the user guide for the respective crystal reports version you are using.
    Hope this helps!!!

  • How to activate a different sub-report for each row in the data set as main report page breaks on each row of data in the main dataset

    I am going to try asking this same question a different way as I have yet to find a working solution to my problem.  I have a main report and then 8 sub reports.  My main report has one data set and returns one row of data per account number.  One
    of the fields in the main data set is called AccountProf.  My main report displays one page per Account number and then calls a different sub report based on that account's AccountProf value.  The sub reports take in the account number as a parameter
    and get multiple rows of data to display that accounts usage formatted differntly for each AccountProf (hence the 8 different sub report.
    So far I can figure out how to do everything but setting the visibility property of each sub-reports when I have multiple accounts.  If I use the following expression for the visibility property on each sub report, it makes all the applicable sub report
    for all the accounts requested visible at once:
    =IIF(Fields!AccountProf.Value= "USE_PLUS_DMD",False,True)
    *The value in bold USE_PLUS_DMD  is different for each sub report.
    Here is a look at what the main report look like:
    Here is the main reports data set:

    Hi JasonDWilson77,
    According to your description, there is a main report and 8 sub reports in the report, you want to set visibility of sub reports, if no value is passed to the parameter of sub report, the sub report will not be displayed. If that is the case, please refer
    to the following steps:
      1. Create a new parameter named NewAccountNumber, set its data type the same as @AccountNumber, select Allow multiple values, set Visibility to be hidden, then set all available values to default values.
      2. Right-click the first sub report and open Subreport Properties dialog box, click Parameters in left pane, set name to AccountNumber, then click (fx) button, type the expression like below:
    =Parameters! NewAccountNumber(0)
      3. Click Visibility in left pane, select Show or hide based on an expression, then click (fx) button and type the expression like below:
    =IIF(InStr(Join(Parameters! AccountNumber.Value), Parameters!NewAccountNumber.Value(0))>0 , false,true)
      4. Modify parameter of other sub reports like step2.
      5. Set visibility of other sub reports like step3.
    If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Problems setting integrated security to false on sub reports

    We can set the integrated security to false on the main report, but for some reason it is not working on sub reports. Is there an issue with this? Possibly a patch we need to apply?
    I downloaded the SP0 patch for CR2008 and attempted to apply it, but it said something about doing this from control panel. I normally would expect a DOC or TXT file with some instructions on patching, but I just keep getting redirected to the business objects web site generic page when I try to get more information.

  • CR Server - Report with multiple sub reports prompts for SQL connection for

    I have a report published in CR Server. The Report has four subreports. When the report is run from CR Server, the initial SQL Server connection log in is automatically handled by the log in details in CR Server, but the report then prompts for SQL Server log in four times, presumably for each sub report.
    How can I get rid of these SQL login prompts?
    Rgds
    Tony Maguire

    ARF
    Yes - it looks like it might have been to do with the contents of the ".sqldeveloper" directory. Probably SQL Developer may have got confused with me running the same SQL on the same database under different users.
    We create a read-only user to carry out queries against the live schema. This read-only user has only select privileges and no insert/update/delete privileges.

    No, it wor't using Safari and not a good idea to use a hotel network for lack of security.

  • Error exporting report with sub report and parameters

    Post Author: joncombe
    CA Forum: JAVA
    I am using the JRC to export to a PDF file a report that has a sub report within it. Both the main and subreport connect to an Oracle database via an Oracle ODBC connection and both share a single parameter, RUN_ID. I need to set a value for the parameter in both reports. If I don't do that I get this error:-com.crystaldecisions.reports.exportinterface.exceptions.ExportException: Some parameters are missing valuesI have the following code to update the parameters in both reports.                     ParameterField thisParameter1           = new ParameterField ( );                   ParameterField thisParameter2           = new ParameterField ( );                   Values thisValue1                       = new Values ( );                   Values thisValue2                       = new Values ( );                   ParameterFieldDiscreteValue thisParamDV1= new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();                   ParameterFieldDiscreteValue thisParamDV2= new ParameterFieldDiscreteValue();                   thisParameter1.setReportName("");                   thisParameter2.setReportName("DQA_GER_Adressverification.rpt");                   thisParameter1.setName("RUN_ID");                   thisParameter2.setName("RUN_ID");                   thisParameter1.setType(FieldValueType.numberField);                   thisParameter2.setType(FieldValueType.numberField);                   thisParamDV1.setValue(254);                   thisParamDV2.setValue(254);                   thisValue1.add(thisParamDV1);                   thisValue2.add(thisParamDV2);                   thisParameter1.setCurrentValues(thisValue1);                   thisParameter2.setCurrentValues(thisValue2);                   parameterFields.add(thisParameter1);                   parameterFields.add(thisParameter2);                  ReportStateInfo repStateInfo = new ReportStateInfo();                  repStateInfo.setParameterFields(parameterFields);                  reqCont.setReportStateInfo(repStateInfo);  With this code in place I have found that if I run using the JRC supplied with Crystal Reports for Eclipse I get the following error:-ERROR - QueryEngine error: verify database failed.ERROR - Disk Exporter: no output file was created by an exporterERROR - PdfExporter: caught Exception in PDFFormatter.finalizeFormatJob (from destination?); crystalreportrunner.CrystalReportRunner.main(CrystalReportRunner.java:91)I believe the error is that the SQL query in the main report is being updated with the RUN_ID but the SQL in the sub-report is not. I am not sure why the update to set the RUN_ID in the second SQL query fails, but it seems to me the JRC is not detecting it as a missing parameter and is passing the SQL including {?RUN_ID} to Oracle, causing the JDBC driver to fail with this NullPointerException. I think this because further up in the log I see this:-INFO - Executing query: SELECT v.* FROM v_ger_main vwhere v.run_id = 254INFO - Verifying databaseINFO - Executing query: SELECT h.* FROM v_ger_av_ls_tagging hwhere h.run_id = {?RUN_ID}ERROR - QueryEngine error: verify database failed.Both connections are from the same database, but the first has the updated value (254) whilst the second query still seems to have the parameter and so fails to verify.Can someone suggest how I can fix this problem or if I have missed something that is required?Thanks.Jon.

    What happens if, instead of passing in parameter field values, you pass the report source object to the viewer (ReportViewerBean for stand-alone or CrystalReportViewer for web)?  The viewer should introspect the report for the parameter fields and bring up a parameter field entry dialog box.  Does such a dialog box come up?  Is only the main report parameter field queried for, or both main and subreport paramter fields?  When you enter correct values for the field, does the report display?
    Hopefully, the above should narrow down the issue.
    By the way, JRC doesn't support ODBC connections, only Java based connectivity such as JDBC, JavaBeans and XML.  If you have a report with ODBC, then it looks for a JNDI connection with the same name.

  • Sub report linking definition based on result, not on parameter value

    Dear all,
    I have created a report with CR 2008 SP6. The parameters from the referring BI query are period and customer. After the user enter parameter values, the report provides then Customer and product information.
    I have add a sub report with additional information for product. I can transfer the parameter value (user input) for Customer to the sub report, but not for product, due to the fact that in the main report Product is not selected as parameter, but is a result set after the report is executed.
    Is there a way to define in the Sub report linking exactly these result values of Product as new parameter for the sub report.
    In the sub report linking definition I only see the possibility of defining the parameter as linking object, but not the report result set. See also the screenshot.
    Any idea would be great. Best regards,
    Stefanos from Munich/Germany

    Hi Stefanos,
    Where is the Subreport placed on the report?
    Do you have a prompt in the Subreport for 'product'?
    If yes, then here's open the 'Change Subreport Links' window > Move the Product field to the Pane on the right > From the drop down at the bottom left that says 'Subreport parameter field to use', choose the Product prompt.
    If you don't have a prompt for product in the Subreport, then just move the Product field to the Pane on the right > From the drop down at the bottom right that says 'Select data in Subreport based on field', choose the Product field from the drop-down.
