Set up IPMP Solaris 10 -- two interfaces, one IP
I have a tasking to set up failure-based IPMP on a T5120. I have been reading all the Sun documentation on setting up IPMP, but cannot find exactly what I am looking for. I have one IP address, and two connected NICs, and my task is to set up IPMP so that if e1000g0 fails, e1000g1 will take over. Is this possible, and if so, how?
If you have two interfaces and only want link-based failure detection, just put the group $YOUR_GROUPNAME statement in /etc/hostname.$INTERFACE file.
Say you have the two interfaces e1000g0 and e1000g1, your hostname is MyHostname and your group is MyGroup you would do the following:
put
MyHostname group MyGroup in /etc/hostname.e1000g0.
Put group MyGroup in /etc/hostname.e1000g1.
Either reboot the machine or manually configure ipmp:
ifconfig e1000g0 group MyGroup
ifconfig e1000g1 plumb group MyGroup up
in /var/adm/messages you there should be an info that no test-adress was given and that ipmp will operate in link-failure detection mode only.
Please note that officially you should create an ipmp instance first by issuing something like ifconfig $MyIPMP-Instance group MyGroup, but that step could be left out as ipmp instances are created implicitly.

Solaris 10 u11 : Is it possible to mix IPMP with vertual network interface
Hi
I have a system with 4 Ethernet interfaces , I'd like to try to have virtual network interface on two of them . then configure IPMP between each two.
- Is it possible to mix IPMP and VNIC ?
- online , I found posts about having vnic on solaris by creating additional interface file (ex, /etc/hostname.bge0:1 ) and also the IPMP create such interface?
- How can I know which IPMP version installed on the system ? and how to know I'm reading the right configuration guide?
- on what basis should i choose the type of IPMP for my system (Link-based or Probe-based)
Thanks in advance
HEBAHi.
IPMP can coexist with VNIC.
IPMP - part of Solaris. So you not need check version of IPMP. Just read Docs for Solaris.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23823_01/html/816-4554/ipmptm-1.html#scrolltoc
It's not clear what Vnic you plan use. Is it VLAN or just additional IP on interface ?
For test address of IPMP you should configure interface like bge0:1 with additional options.

I have set up two users, one for myself and one for children. The computer automatically logs in for the children with no password required. When the children go to spotlight and type in a search criteria all of my files show and open up. How do I prevent this?
Log in to your account, and move all your files to your home folder. No other users should be able to access them there and they won't show up with a Spotlight search.
Make sure your kids' account(s) do not have admin privileges. -
When I got my new iPhone and was trying to switch everything over I accidentally set up a new icloud account with one email and had one on my old iphone with another account. Does anyone know how I can merge the two accounts?
You cannot merge Apple IDs but you can go to Settings > iCloud and 'Delete Account'. When prompted to turn off documents and data, choose the only option which is Delete from my iPhone, but on the other prompt for Contacts, Calendars, etc you can choose 'Keep on my iPhone' Then once the Account is Deleted form the iPhone, log back in with the correct Apple ID and choose Merge when prompted. This will merge your data from this iPhone with that iCloud account effectively putting your devices on the same account.

How can I set up a wi-fi network, using one time capsule and two airport express
how can I set up a wi-fi network, using one time capsule and two airport express ?
The time capsule is near the Mac. ok
The first Airport is on the corridor, ok, works well and the App on the iPad signals so, ok
But when I plug the next Airport on another room nearby nothing happens, and signals disconected ....
is the signal so weak that is not able to go to ono room to the other ?Well, even if you have the first express set up to extend the network, the second express can only extend from the TimeCapsule.
Maybe you got walls of sheetrook in the way, or kitchen/bathroom tiles, etc, dampening the signal rapidly. -
One PI set up for all the outbound interfaces
Hello Friends,
We have set of interfaces from SAP to 3rd party using PI system. We will not do any mapping for any interface in PI
We will receive the IDocs ( Orders , deliveries , shipping and alll ) from SAP and send it to 3rd party.
is there any way to send these IDoc's with only set up in PI ... only one repository and directory for all the messages )
ThanksHi
One way could be that on save of each transaction or event, an xml file is created which can be passed to the receiver.

If I set up Firefox Synch on two computers, will I lose all the bookmarks, preferences, etc. on one of the computers, because they will be replaced with the other computer's Firefox bookmarks, etc.? Or will the synch combine bookmarks, etc. of both computers, so that bothe browsers have all the bookmarks that were present in both browsers? If I add synch to a third computer, will those bookmarks also be added to the existing ones for all the other computers?

Two interfaces on different subnets -- how to set default routes?
Hi,
I've configured an S10 box with two interfaces (both of which will eventually have zones on them), and I want to make sure that packets sent from each interface go do different default routers. Is this possible?
The routers here are configured such that they won't forward packets with a source address they don't recognise, so at the moment all traffic from the second interface is being sent through the first interface's router and subsequently dropped.
This might be a Monday morning brain fart, so apologies if nonsensical!
Cheers
- IanI would like to propose this as a new IDEA in this forum but again: NOT POSSIBLE. I am not privileged.

Two ipods one computer set up?
Do you need to set up things differently with two ipods? Do you use the same usb port? I followed directions hooked up ipod, moved music files into itunes, and dowloaded to my ipod. My son logged in moved music to intunes I don't see his ipod can't get anything to happen. I read in another post that you might need to log off XP and will try that when I get home ,but I don't recall even seeing his Ipod in the toobar Thanks for any help Frank

I have two interfaces inet0 & inet1 on my solaris 10 server connected to two different networks - One to the DMZ network & other to the private network. I am able to access the server - only when I bring any one of the interface down.
If I bring down inet0, I can access through inet1 IP and the vice versa.
The server was hardened & so I have enabled ip_forwarding using :
ndd /dev/ip ip_forwarding 1
The gateway & mask are set proper.
I tried rebooting the machine, but no chance. please suggest how to resolve this problem.Do you have both interfaces plugged into the same switch?
If so the problem is probably that both interfaces have the same mac address.
If its a sparc box, then you can set the eeprom variable 'local-mac-address?'
if "eeprom | grep local" indictates that its set to false do
eeprom 'local-mac-address?=true'.
You probably need to use quotes there to escape the ?. -
IPMP failures on bge Interface
We've been testing IPMP on Solaris Sparc hosts that also have the Apani IPSec Agent installed. It works fine on older hosts that have 'qfe' and 'le' interfaces, but our v210's and T1000's with 'bge' interfaces have a problem. If we configure an IPMP group to use, say, bge0 and bge1 (with bge0 as the primary interface), it works fine. Disconnecting bge0 causes a failover to bge1, also fine. Disconnecting bge1 causes the following errors:
Nov 2 10:32:29 cs22 in.mpathd[146]: NIC failure detected on bge1 of group test
Nov 2 10:32:29 cs22 in.mpathd[146]: Successfully failed over from NIC bge1 to NIC bge0
Nov 2 10:32:37 cs2 in.mpathd[146]: All Interfaces in group test have failed
All interfaces fail, even though bge0 is still connected and was active before disconnecting bge1. The system recovers once bge0 is reconnected. The two interfaces are physically connected to the same switch, and the hostname.bgeX files are:
-------- hostname.bge0
cs22 netmask + broadcast + group test up \
addif cs21 deprecated -failover netmask + broadcast + up
-------- hostname.bge1
sp12 netmask + broadcast + group test up \
addif sp16 deprecated -failover netmask + broadcast + up
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.Hello again,
When gathering data for the previous reply, I also noticed that the default route had not been set. We usually do specify that, so I added that to the configuration. But, the host had found the correct router previously, it's 63.192.77.9. Specifying it did not change the problem symptoms, anyway. Here's the other requested info:

RE : How to bind to two interfaces
Gabriel,
You can advertise an environment on two ip addresses
by using multiple IP addresses instead of one in
FORTE_NS_ADDRESS. Specify the IP addresses separated by semicolon
setenv FORTE_NS_ADDRESS ip1:5000;ip2:5010;ip3:5012
You will also have to define FORTE_LOCATIONS to point
to these IP addresses so that Forte runtime knows where
to find the environment and services. In this case you
will always use the socket number 0 to allow Forte to
pick any available socket.

Subject: How to bind to two interfaces
Hi!
On one of our Solaris servers we are facing the problem that we have
two
network interface cards in it.
And we would like to access Forte on it through both cards. (avoid
unnecessary network traffic)
As far as I understand Forte needs a fix IP address to bind to (thus
bound to one card).
I tried to use 0.0.0.0 as a jolly-joker for all cards, but failed.
Has anybody an idea? Or is it a restriction?
If so, does Forte plan to improve the product in this way?

I assume you want to create multiple instance of your class.
Assuming that you class is NOT a singleton then simply repeat the CREATE OBJECT statement as many times as you need.
TYPES: begin of ty_s_class.
TYPES: instance TYPE REF TO zcl_myclass.
TYPES: end of ty_s_class.
DATA:
lt_itab TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_s_class
WITH DEFAULT KEY,
ls_record TYPE ty_s_class.
DO 10 TIMES.
CLEAR: ls_record-instance.
CREATE OBJECT ls_record-instance.
APPEND ls_record TO lt_itab.
ENDDO.

Load balancing between two interfaces on 2811
Hi,
We have a 2811 router with VPN and NAT configured. We have two internet connection from different ISPs. The speed of our original connection is 2MB up and down. The speed of our new connection is 1MB up and down. We want to configure load balancing between the two connections. Our new ISP has provided us with a CISCO 837 router. We want to connect that router into our 2811 on one of the free WIC card and then configure load balancing between the two interfaces on our 2811. The third interface has a local address configured. Please suggest where to start. I tried searching on net for any configuration example but I was unable to find any particular example with commands. I am new on CISCO platform. Any help will be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance.Raju,
you have two choices as far as I can see. If you want to use static routing over the WAN to your branch, you could duplicate your static routes to the branch and point them to the secondary router. You will have two identical sets of static routes in the primary router, one set pointing to the WAN interface and the other one pointing to the secondary router.
ip route x.x.x.x "WAN-interface"
ip route x.x.x.x "secondary router"
ip route y.y.y.y "WAN-interface"
ip route y.y.y.y "secondary router"
etc.
As a result the primary router will have two routes to the branch and will load-balance. If one next-hop fails (either the WAN interface or the secondary router), only the other will be used. If the next-hop comes back up, load-balancing will resume.
The other choice would be to use EIGRP over the WAN, and make sure the two routers become EIGRP neighbors. Then you can use the "variance" command to achieve unequal cost load-balancing between the two routers. Let me know if you need more information about this, but i think static routes will be sufficient in your situation.

Hi, yes I know what you are thinking, you should definitely set up IPMP before doing the cluster install. But, what if you didn't. SC3.2 and Solaris 10 06/06
I just set up a single interface group on each node, but scstat does not show IPMP groups set up, it actually looks like this:
-- IPMP Groups --
Node Name Group Status Adapter Status
scstat: unexpected error.
Any ideas on what I can do to get SC to notice my ipmp groups?Uggg.....

Reason: Dependency svc:/system/pools is absent. <-----wtf?
See: http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-E2

This was a test box anyway, and I'm not 100% confident in the OS image thats on these boxes.
If anyone knows a quick way to fix this, I'm all ears, otherwise no big deal, gonna start over with a new OS image.

I have a question about the capacity of DVD+R DL on Mac. Is it really 8.5GB on Mac? I failed to burn a file, which is smaller than 8.5GB and bigger than 8GB, with a dual layer DVD which can be recorded up to 8.5GB. Any Idea? Does 8.5GB mean only for
